2041/2 League Cup

A very good run in the League Cup. A comfortable win over Stockport was following by an excellent come back from two down inside ten minutes against Notts County. The defeat to Aston Villa could have been much worse though. They were five up at half time and could have been more.

Hi guys ive just downloaded down to level 10 on fm base nd im new to the forum ive just started a season with my local team Waltham abbey who play in the ryman division 1 north. I am predicted to finish 16th but I said to the board I want a top half finish or maybe reach the play offs. My aim in my first season is to assemble a youthful squad which can give any team a game on it's day and my main goal is to become a giantkiller in the fa cup. Can anybody give me any advice on how I can even reach the first round proper I know it luck and tactics but anybody know any good players as a lot of my youthful players have just been releaed from their contracts and im down to the bones with a quite fragile squad.

You need the good players guide and tactics forum. I certainly won't be giving advice of that nature in my career thread as it goes completely against the way I play the game and post on the forum.

Popped in for the first time in a while and had a quick run-through from the start. Hopefully you'll make the Premier League eventually, especially after such a long wait in League 1 as well (including a relegation). Brooks really was something special. You've still taken them a very long way as it is, and a lot of the comments from you and others amused me greatly adding to the enjoyment of the whole thing.

I'm halfway in number of seasons in the Championship too.

Brooks was awesome.

2041/2 - Newcastle Town (Championship)

Board: Safe mid table

Media: 15th

Bookies: 33-1

Season tickets: 2171 (down 1) £983,463

Club value: £6,250,000 (£130,000 loan debt)

The Chairman sells Lee Selby to Leicester City for £2,900,000. Every year it seems...

At least the training and youth facilities finally get a needed upgrade as they both increase to adequate.

A mix start, the highlight being a 7-1 mauling of Peterborough United which could easily have been double figures.

We then get hit by injuries with at one point ten members of the first team squad being out of action.

We struggle as a result and sink to lower mid table.

Our season peters out, but giving our injury problems, it was no surprise.

Looks like you've hit a ceiling; all a bit safe mid-table, at the moment.

Possibly so, but I have made some signings in the close season that I think will really improve the squad. Plus we spent ten seasons in League One, in two spells before going up to the Championship.

Problem is though, I will be 65 this season in the game. Pension time!

Thirty two seasons completed over three and a half years. It is approaching my longest ever save in terms of number of seasons (which stands at thirty six) while it is my longest save in real time by a long way, though that is more down to the fact I can't play the game as often as I used to.

Does that mean you'll be knocking this save on the head after this season, or will you 'do a Fergie' and carry on?

2042/3 League Cup

The League Cup did not go well. Cruising at 3-0 after half an hour against League One outfit Preston, we scraped through before getting a humbling at Notts County, only a late goal making the score look mildly respectable.

We also drew a Premier League team. Although Wolves are doing well, so are we and I quite fancied our chances.

A dire performance saw us get what we deserved as Wolves easily advanced to the fourth round.

A couple of matches later, we hosted Southampton in the league. 1-1 at half time, I pressed to start the second half before promptly falling asleep. Around half an hour later I woke up to find my fiancee had text me four minutes earlier and we had won 3-1. :D

Post 30,000 might as well be in here.

Christ, where has my life gone.

This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You delete FM - the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You continue playing - you stay in Wonderland and the game will show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes.

2042/3 - Newcastle Town (Championship)

Board: Safe mid table

Media: 15th

Bookies: 33-1

Season tickets: 2197 (up 26) £990,847

Club value: £6,250,000

New kit sponsorship: 2 years, £315,000 per season (up £32,000)

The stadium is made all seated, capacity remaining at 9829

A good start sees us high up the league table.

Halfway and in good Christmas spirit, we're challenging for the playoffs.

Colin Tiernan then tears his calf. Nikolas Stavrou steps up and is named player of the month for January as I win manager of the month.

We maintain our challenge. With one game left, there is one playoff spot up for grabs...

6. Brighton 64:54 75

7. Newcastle Town 74:57 73

We stroll to a 2-0 win at home to Ipswich, while Brighton blow it, losing 3-0 at Charlton.

In the playoffs, we have the better of the first leg though QPR hold us at Newcastle Town Stadium in a 1-1 draw. We capitulate in the second leg, losing 4-1 at Loftus Road.

Bloody frustrating!

Another great read Nobby! Been a long long time since I've followed one of your threads.

LOVING IT! I'm stuck on FMH14 due to partner/kids sucking up all my spare time lol. It's quiet at work so have read through this yesterday afternoon and since I cam in an hour ago, heh.

Etherington looks a good prospect.

If Brook's hasn't already gone, it would be great to see his career page.

I'd agree, Etherington looks like a really decent central defender for the Championship

Etherington is attracting seven figure bids, as is Jack Smith. The board for once aren't going over my head... mainly because they already did it this pre season with Mark Dodsworth and sold him "on my behalf".

Brooks retired a few years ago now. You'll have to recap 'Brooks Watch' which featured at the end of each season after I sold him.

Very much so. With new partner Valentin Simeonov (Bulgarian international) and new goalie Jamie Vincent (ex Manchester United) between the sticks, I finally have a defence which won't ship a **** load of goals.
