  1. Congrats on the narrowest of title wins, a thrilling end to the season but well deserved. I'm getting the feeling that new pastures would (very realistically) be quite a draw. Given the financial position of the club, next season would be extremely difficult to navigate - a great challenge of course, but for no salary
  2. Good luck on the remaining games, I have every confidence in you. Very detailed updates as usual, very well told
  3. Good luck in Angola, Africa can be a great experience. Full respect for wanting to finish the challenge, but if you're bored of the save as you said, and want something new on FM24, and current/future time is limited....
  4. A very nice reason for managing this club, hope you have a great time. The lower levels of Scotland (I guess that makes them the Lowlands ) seem very popular in FM24.
  5. Late to the party here, but I always enjoyed my years managing in Switzerland. Good luck with your remaining fixtures.
  6. Congratulations on the promotion, it's been a good read and story so far
  7. Wahi is a name I remember well from time managing in France with Montpellier. If he stays, great. If he goes for that kind of money, you'll be able to improve the whole squad. That's a comfortable position for you either way. Do you think you can improve on 7th next season or will you be satisfied to just match it?
  8. Fantastic, I've been close to starting with either SK Rapid or FK Austria in FM24. But then I remember how painful the long winter break was and it prevents me doing so. I saw the result was SK 0-1 RB, but hope you enjoyed it anyway.
  9. I was quite impressed at the squad Ibiza has (I wonder what the attraction may be?) and think it won't be long before you're at the next level. I like sunny Mediterranean islands, and this is a great choice of smaller club to build up. Best of luck.
  10. Another fantastic season, good to see that. I saw Kayode playing for the Italy Youth Team this summer (along with the winger Burnley signed) and happy to see him involved for you. But Parisi and Destiny are also a great pair to have in your ranks on the other side of the pitch. Keep up the good work, hope you get over the line.
  11. Hope to see you back soon mate. I can understand why you don't fancy repeating what you did with Malaga. And another Spanish team probably isn't varied enough right now. Germany and Italy are tempting me too, as I'm not convinced my first FM24 dabble outside of England (at AIK in Sweden) is going to hold my interest. But then I've also been looking around European leagues that run 'traditional' season dates and got 'slightly' interested in AZ Alkmaar, LKS Lodz, Silkeborg IF and FK Austria too. As always, so many choices, so little time! In Italy, it would probably be Internazionale (with some philosophies to make the task interesting) and in Germany, I am sure to get back to VfB at some point. There's one other lower-ranked Bundesliga side emerging as a hot contender - but if you're looking in 2. Bundesliga, I have to say I really like the squad at Hannover (my suggestion if you're interested).
  12. Nice introductory posts @Fraser thanks for your efforts. VfB Stuttgart are the biggest attraction for me and I enjoyed several (good) seasons with them on FM23, I will surely go back to them at some point as they're playing well and having a positive season so far. But I wanted to try another team first, and after not gaining much enthusiasm through BETA saves in England, I'm now shuffling through some European ideas. That might well end up with a German side - especially if they still have the player face image coming up when a goal is announced in our games.
  13. Finishing 2nd was a great season, just a bit of a shock to see Torino being the team above you! I like the recruitment model: mostly either young or prime age, lots of Italians, with the odd Argentine which is in line with club tradition. The future looks bright, and it's enjoyable to follow.
  14. Another solid season even if you felt a bit disappointed in the end. Nice evolution of your squad, looks to be well thought it. Agree it's a shame your star prospect cannot be the next David Villa, but the next Fernando Torres wouldn't be a disaster.
  15. Disaster! Very sorry to hear this mate. These things cannot be recovered via Steam if you fix or purchase the laptop? At least you ended on a high, if that really is 'game over'. Hope to see you back soon.
  16. Hello All I've converted crisis-club Reading in to a Member Owned club with a Chairman and no elections via the PGE (just copying what had been set for Exeter City). The club has £89m original debt which is a 'gift repayable upon departure' in 2042 - presumably to the owner/chairman. The club would now be (virtually) fan-owned, but I want the debt to remain (in fact I extended the attached player transfer embargo until 31/12/2024 and removed the Sugar Daddy entry). If I change the debt to 'Supporters Trust' will this still mean the club suffers with the debt in game? I'm not trying to hide or increase/reduce the impact of the debt, but repayable upon departure didn't seem right after the owner change made. Or would I be better making this a repayable monthly loan over 20 years to be sure the club really struggle for the length of the save? Thanks for guidance if anybody knows how best to set the debt at a fan-owned club.
  17. A great season and nice review as usual. Best of luck for another successful year!
  18. It seems like the worse your injuries get, the better the team respond! Tremendous work in the circumstances
  19. Not sure on that but the pre-game editor has a debt of £83,189,608 repayable as 'gift upon departure' by 1st January 2042. Presumably that is to the Chairman/Owner. I've been planning to manage Reading in FM24 as in all my years of FM-playing, the club was never in League 1 by default. But far from being the reset that was hoped for in the summer, real life events got worse and have been putting me off. I've made some changes via the pre-game editor to try and make it more appealing, which included the following: Extended the transfer ban of attached players until 1st January 2025 (embargo end date 31st December 2024) which I believe is the current reality Removed the Owners and Directors (other than keeping Sir John as a Director) as I could not get involved if any of them remained Made the club fan-owned by choosing Member Owned with a Chairman and no elections (copied how Exeter City was showing) Ticked the box to 'Stop Outside Takeovers' Kept the £89m debt as it was, but changed the entry to Supporters Trust rather than repayable upon departure* Removed the entry for Rich Benefactor Removed all affiliate links but added Wexford for realism Deleted some staff that I am fairly sure are no longer at the club (in addition if I am appointed Manager, I would mutually terminate all the people Selles brought in) Changed the nationality of Basil Tuma to Maltese and corrected his data Made Nelson Abbey Vice Captain *Not sure if this means the debt will stay active, which is the intention. But as I made the club fan-owned it didn't seem to match with the original 'repayable upon departure' entry. If this doesn't work, I may instead decide to convert it to a monthly repayable loan. One way or another, I want the debt to affect the club in the way it should, so this might need some trial and error checking. I've also asked a question on the Editors Hideaway page to see what others think is best for the debt to impact the club. Apart from checking the finances/debt, I need to decide who the best Chairman is. The best I came up with so far is Dave Kitson as he has been quite involved recently (protests & weekly columns). I also had a good relationship with Dave when our professional paths crossed in the era of the 106-team. I was going to go for Nigel Howe as Chairman for more realism, but he was not in the editor, so just switched Dave from his position of Chairman at Arlesey Town for now. I may decide to add my own person as Chairman and would name them as Nigel Howe or maybe the directors of SCL as they deserve credit for going above and beyond what a sponsor should do. If that is beyond me, I just may put back Sir John as Chairman - he can just act as a custodian rather than being expected to plough any money in.
  20. A great choice of club and nice opening posts. I wish you good luck in your journey with la Viola!
  21. Good luck with Valencia. It's a lovely city (was there last month) and a club I enjoyed managing for two fun years (chronicled on these very pages) in FM22. I also play FM slowly, so hope you enjoy your time as and when you get to play!
  22. A heavy injury list indeed. But on the pitch, superbly handled! Hope Santa delivers a productive transfer window.
  23. So, he doesn't want to join AIK due to the rivalry that exists with the very same AIK...got it!
  24. Thanks for your feedback mate, much appreciated. Quite a battle you're in there with Portimonense but that's the kind of competitive challenge we all like to engage in. Evra seems to be doing a bit of a hokey-cokey. What would you do if he was to exit the club?
