Lisburn rue missed chances as Carrick snatch draw

Intermediate League Cup Group 1 - 11.8.07

Sporting Lisburn will be frustrated tonight that they couldn't win their first ever competitive game after a 1-1 draw with 1st Division side Carrick. Lisburn created many chances, several falling to strike partners Birdy dos Santos and Sneaky Ninja, but in the end they could only muster one goal between them.

Birdy dos Santos scored the goal to put Sporting ahead, using his pace to get clear of the last defender, where he slotted past the keeper which, at the time, seemed it could be the first of many goals. However, this wasn't the case, as in the second half a James Knowles mistake allowed Treanor to have a good shot saved by Andrews initally, but he could do nothing about the rebound.

Just to let you all know, I played two more games on Sunday, so there'll be a few updates coming up tommorow afternoon/evening icon14.gif.

Had a bit of college work (probably best not to leave it to the last minute!) to do today and yesterday, but should be free to get some more playing done tommorow.

Dos Santos hits hat-trick in emphatic win for Sporting

Intermediate League Cup Group 1 - 18.8.07

Birdy dos Santos was on fire today as he scored a hat-trick in a 4-0 thrashing for his side Sporting Lisburn over Tobermore Utd. Despite Tobermore being in the league above, they proved easy opposition as deadly finishing by the Djiboutian aided the Lisburn cause.

Birdy dos Santos got his first after just 2 minutes, impossibly beating a Tobermore defender to the ball (the defender let the ball get to within a yard of him, whilst in that time Birdy was able to catch up the 20-25 yards distance to get to the ball), and calmly slotted home from just inside the box. He got his second on 17 minutes, Ryan de Goal's through ball split the defence for dos Santos to convert another one-on-one. Tobermore made matters worse for themselves just past the half-hour mark, Bertie Bloodhound's goal-bound header seemed to be a good finish, but (according to FM) it got a slight touch of Tobermore striker McLaughlin, which meant it went down as an own goal. Birdy dos Santos completed his hat-trick in the second half, Robert Boyle's deflected free-kick caused the keeper to dive virtually past the goal, whist it calmly centred up for dos Santos to tap into an empty net.

Lisburn continue winning form with easy win over Ballinamallard

Intermediate League Cup Group 1 - 1.9.07

Sporting Lisburn made it two wins in a row with an easy 3-0 victory over Ballinamallard Utd.

Yet again it was Birdy dos Santos who opened the scoring, this time latching onto a deflected Ryan de Goal shot to rifle the ball into the top corner. Just 5 minutes later the lead was doubled, with Ryan de Goal getting a goal of his own, after a through ball by Craig Douglas. Lisburn sealed the victory in stoppage time, thanks to a magnificent solo effort by Dodgy Dave, recieving the ball from Ben Cee just inside the Ballinmallard half, where he beat several players before having an initial shot parried by the keeper, but Dave was able to finish off the rebound for a deserved goal.

International News

Bertie Bloodhound came on as a 72nd-minute sub for Northern Ireland U19s as they lost to their Latvia counterparts 2-1. He was given a (harsh) 5 rating, despite his stats for the game looking similar to the rest of his team!

When we get into the stage where there are several players making the main international side, I'll start to provide screenshots of their games.

On the treatment table

Tom Healy - the young midfielder has bruised his ribs, and is likely to be available for the next Intermediate Cup game with Chimney Corner, but will most likely not be risked due to his fitness levels.

Ninja sneaks away win for Lisburn

Intermediate League Cup Group 1 - 15.9.07

Sneaky Ninja grabbed both goals as Sporting Lisburn proved their ability to hold a lead as they beat Chimney Corner 2-0.

Ninja got his first on just 6 minutes, a Marinelli free-kick from wide on the right was deflected several times in the box, but eventually Bertie Bloodhound's saved shot fell to the American striker to score. He then got his second on 26 minutes, this time Sneaky Ninja used his pace to get infront of a defender to slot home from 8 yards. Chimney Corner were strong in the second half, but strong displays by goalkeeper Andrews aswell as centre-backs Drew and Knowles/Tyler meant the Lions could hold onto an important away victory.

Anyone actually know if this bug has been fixed at all levels? They seemed more bothered about it hapenning in European competition than anything else when it was originally logged.

I'm still playing on 8.0.1 (8.0.2 sounds crap and I've gotten used to 8.0.1), so the bug should still be there. HOPEFULLY we won't screw it up icon_wink.gif.

Dos Santos the saviour in 7-goal thriller

Northern Irish 2nd Division - 18.9.07

In an enthralling first ever league game, Sporting Lisburn defeated Annagh Utd 4-3, with all the credits going to Birdy dos Santos, who not only scored a hat-trick but a last minute winner, which lead to a deseved three points.

Lisburn started strongly, and on just 6 minutes Birdy dos Santos had his first and Sporting's first league goal, latching onto Arthur White's cross-field ball to cooly slide the ball past the keeper. The lead was doubled on 20 minutes, with substitute Dodgy Dave playing a one-two with Tom Healy to slot into the bottom left corner. At this stage Sporting Lisburn looked comfortable, however Annagh pulled back to 2-2 with some good player either side of the half-time interval. Dos Santos regained the lead on 68 minutes, recieving what seemed at first a poor header by Diego Polo, to run on and hit a shot through the keeper. Annagh seemed to have salvaged a point with 9 minutes to go when they again equalised, but in the 92nd minute, Birdy dos Santos played a one-two with Diego Polo, where the Djiboutian cooly slid home his hat-trick, sending the away fans into raptures as they took all 3 points late on.
