smp20
Of course there was not an easy draw left, but we will face off against Barca. Yikes.

smp20
An incredible win in Armenia. Pogga has earned God status! Thoroughly brought back down to earth by a Messi-Neymar-Suarez-Ranieri (Brazilian wonderkid) forwardline. Shame to go out like this but getting to the quarter finals is a fantastic achievement and we avenged Man City for last years EL final.
smp20
A tough draw for Euro 2020; Portugal are ranked the best in the world (though check us out at 11th) and are of course the holders. Russia and Greece will be tricky, but at our best we could beat them. 4 points should be enough to see us through to the 2nd round.
deltablue
That second leg defeat was crushing. The Euro group doesn't seem too terrible though.
shaunwwfc
I really enjoy your stories smp20. What I enjoy the most is your tactical approach. Very simplistic and very stubborn, but in a good way. By and large your shape and philosophy remains exactly the same and I really admire that, if anything it is encouraging and wipes away the "AI crack your system" myth. What I would like to ask though, from a tactical POV, do you tend to make many tweaks? Or do you remain quite loyal to it? Generally it always seems to be 4-4-2/4-4-1-1 (two DMs) with a very fluid team shape and Attacking mentality. Do you ever differ from that??

Excluding when I've used 4-1-2-3 strikerless, I've used a similar approach ever since FM13. I make a few tweaks here and there. I switch to counter in the last 10/15 mins if only winning by 1 goal, and I adjust the defensive line depending on how quick my defence is in comparison to opposition attack - ranging from normal, slightly higher and higher. So not much tweaking to be honest. Nice to hear that you are enjoying it . 14 minutes ago, deltablue said: That second leg defeat was crushing. The Euro group doesn't seem too terrible though. Yeah it was a big blow, but it was coming at some point. I reckon we can sneak through, fingers crossed.

smp20
Armenia 23-man Squad for Euro 2020 As expected the squad is dominated by Pyunik players. However Mkhitaryan will be playing his first (and last) tournament in his prime. Geloyan is a key player despite his young age, while foreign-born Movsisyan and Andonian are also expected to be key. We've got a good balance between youth and experience and although we are weak at full back we have a solid central base. Two draws in March against supposed weaker opposition was not the best. We're testing ourselves against Holland and France in the build up, with our back ups given a chance to shine against Faroe Islands
smp20
Warm-Up Campaign An excellent build up to the Euros, crushing Holland, our backups got some game time against the Faroes and a solid 1-1 away draw against France with 10 men for an hour. Next up, Russia!
smp20
It doesn't get any better than this! Poghosyan came off the bench after 51 minutes and proved that he deserves to be a starter ahead of Movsisyan. He got a goal and an assist and was heavily involved in our second half demolition of Russia. Geloyan linked up incredibly well with his attacking team-mates, also getting a goal and assist. smp20
A very dramatic game. Movsisyan came off the bench to equalise late in the game. We then took the lead early on in extra time. In a very even match, that man Geloyan finished Poland off by scoring from outside the box after spotting the keeper off his line. Semi-finals await! smp20
Absolutely gutting. We started so well, 2-0 up after 15 mins. Then we just collapsed in the 2nd half. Hazard and De Bruyne tore us apart. Another final, another loss.

pheelf
If somebody told me that in FM they managed to get an Armenian team into the 2019 Europa League final & 2020 Champions League Quarter final whilst also getting the Armenian national team not only qualified for Euro 2020 but all the way to the final. I'd be like.... But somehow I don't get surprised when I see these sort of things happening in your careers. You make this game look ridiculously easy, brilliant work as usual. smp20
Announcement I've decided to scrap my home-grown at club rule and I'm now allowing myself to sign anyone eligible for the Armenian National Team. I've decided I want to have a closer influence on our younger prospects and bring in some old heads to tutor them. Effectively, I aim to have the same players for club and country. Mkhitaryan's £180k per week wages rules him out for now though....
smp20
Champions League Qualifying 2020/21 We've been relatively comfortable so far, even though we rested players in the first leg vs Liepaja and second leg vs Red Star. smp20
We comfortably made our way to the Champions League Group Stages - as did Dila Gori of Georgia against Celtic!! We were up to 3rd seeds this year so I was hoping for an easier group than this. We will need to be at our best to get through, I would be very disappointed if we didn't finish at least 3rd. smp20
As expected I had a busy transfer window bringing in a mixture of youngsters and the best of the national team I could bring in. Our biggest transfer was Arthur Hakobyan:
smp20
Big news!!! Geloyan signed a new contract!!! . But he's really come on and not far off Mkhitaryan now - could even be better if he keeps on improving.
smp20
A very disappointing campaign compared to last year, being thrashed at home and only scoring one goal away. At least we've still got European football to look forward to in the new year. Benfica are going to be very tough to face; may as well be a CL fixture.
