3 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss in the league, with the loss to Spurs being a big set back as they're coming for us in 4th, but we are still 5 points ahead of them with 3 games to go. West Ham are 5 behind, it's not over yet, but I'd say we probably have at least 4th at this point:

I'll be posting the text updates of the key highlights of both Champions League Semi Finals tonight and tomorrow. Planning on having real time updates from 7.45, so they're in-sync with the CL games on TV as well.

Good luck, man!

7.55PM:

Romaldini holding up the ball on the right hand side in Arsenal's half. He cuts inside around the middle of the pitch and finds Dale Lewis in the centre, ohhh Lewis with a lovely first time ball to Kilday who has his back to goal about 25 yards out... he takes a touch and plays a short pass to Yianni... Yianni with a nice ball out wide to Brown who could put it on a plate for someone in the middle... MOALISSON BRENERRRRR!!!! Ohhh and it's straight at the keeper! He was just inches from goal at the back post but he headed it right at the keeper who clutches onto it!

8PM:

Romaldini the right back with a throw in just inside the Arsenal half. He finds Osagie who's next to him just inside the Sheffield half. Osagie to Dale Lewis on the halfway line. Lewis with a pass out to Romaldini... he passes back to Lewis, who lobs it over to Moalisson Brener in some space on the left wing, Brener takes his man on and ohhh hits a powerful ball all the way to the other flank with his right foot and Brown takes it down with a marvellous first touch, he's left the Arsenal left back in the dust... Brown to get another ball in...it's a low one AND KILDAYYYYY IS THERE!!!!! Another lovely ball into the box from Leigh Brown, this time he picked out the ever clinical captain and Andy Kilday does not miss from the range! A powerful drive which left the keeper with no chance and Sheffield Wednesday lead in a Champions League Semi Final!!!! SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY 1-0 (1-0) ARSENAL

8.25PM:

Kilday has a free kick lined up on the right hand side of the Arsenal half. Plenty of blue shirts in the box, a lot of red ones back for it too though. Kilday's ball in... Arnaud gets his head to it and glances it across goal... and Frank Prins gets a header at goal but in the end there's nowhere near enough power on it! An easy save for Lench in the Arsenal goal.

8.58PM:

Osagie with a back pass to Brauer, Brauer hits it out wide left to Moalisson Brener, but Zanetti jumps for it too and wins it... the ball drops to Dikic, Dikic finds Mxoli on the edge of the area... he finds Boonen who plays a lovely first time pass into the box to Zikic who controls and turns.....what a finish that is!!!! A fantastic goal from Zikic who has equalised for Arsenal just 7 minutes into the 2nd half! A real blow for the Sheffield, but a big big goal in this tie! SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY 1-1 (1-1) ARSENAL

9.07PM:

Kilday has a free kick for Wednesday. It's on the right hand side of the pitch, similar to one he had in the first half. Kilday's ball in towards Moalisson Brener... he doesn't quite get there BUT THE LINESMAN IS FLAGGING!!! The referee has seen something...HE'S GIVEN A PENALTY!!! A massive roar here at Hillsborough, there was some pushing and shoving and it seems that there was enough to award Sheffield a penalty here...

9.08PM:

There was never any doubt who would take this one. Of course it's captain Andy Kilday who has the ball in his hands. He pops it down and stares down Lench in the Arsenal goal. Kilday's taken 15 penalties in his 4 year Wednesday career, 9 of them have found the net. It's not a foregone conclusion, but it does take a good save to keep them out. It's Kilday... THE KEEPER WENT THE RIGHT WAY, IT WASN'T THE BEST PENALTY HE'S EVER TAKEN, BUT IT'S FOUND THE NET EITHER WAY!!! And Hillsborough is going absolutely bezerk, because Andy Kilday has put them back in the driver's seat in this UEFA Champions League Semi Final! SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY 2-1 (2-1) ARSENAL

9.22PM:

Moalisson Brener with the ball on the left of Arsenal's box, but Bakero comes in with a good tackle and hurls it away. Zanetti with it now, he finds Zikic on the right wing, he's just inside Sheffield's half... Zikic will run at them, he's got Zanetti on the outside right, he finds him in space... Zanettti into the middle... a nice knock down from Fernandez and ZIKICCCCCCCCC.... OHHHHH HE'S HIT THE POST!!!! HOW HAS HE MISSED FROM THERE??? Brauer was scrambling to save it, but it's the woodwork that has prevented Arsenal from scoring an equaliser! A huge huge chance goes begging!

9.36PM:

A late Arsenal corner. Zanetti to take... it escapes most of the crowd, Arnaud clears it, but it only falls to Fernandez who's about 35 yards out... but Kilday nips in behind him and gets the ball, Kilday to run at them and Wednesday could break here... he finds Moalisson Brener on the outside... he's got Yianni in the middle... but a good tackle from Bakero prevents him from putting the ball in the box. Brener to Dale Lewis now, Lewis holsd it, he finds Romulo the substitute, Stucki who has also come on is calling for it... he gets it just outside the box... Stucki passes to Kilday who might have a shot... BUT IT DOESN'T MATTER NOW, BECAUSE IT'S ALL OVER! A historic win for Sheffield Wednesday who now have 1 foot in a Champions League final!!!

3rd minute:

Carlos with it for Arsenal in the middle of the pitch. He finds Makhlouf, now it's Murati on the ball... he plays it towards Thomma on the left about 25 yards from goal, he passes back in-field to Boonen... Boonen will run into the box, there's only 30 seconds on the clock and he strikes it.... not the best strike though as it's straight at Brauer who makes an easy save!

7th minute:

A long ball uptowards Kilday, he gets his head to it, it flies towards Lewis who heads it down to Moalisson Brener on the left wing in the middle of the pitch. He'll run at the Arsenal defence, ohh and he hits a weighted ball with his right foot for Kilday to run onto... Kilday chases after it into the box... Kilday with a low ball into the box AND YIANIIIII OHHHHHHH HOW HAS HE MISSED FROM THERE!!! 4 or 5 yards out and he hits it straight at Lench who parries it away...but it falls to LEIGH BROWN.... a red shirt throws himself at that to put it out for a corner. But what a chance that was from Yianni, he really has to be burying that one.

10th minute:

A free kick for Wednesday. It's about 30 yards out and Kilday stands over it... ohhh and he plays a quick through ball to Osagie, they didn't see that coming, Osagie into the box HE HITS IT....LENCH MANAGED TO GET A HAND TO IT, BUT HE COULDN'T KEEP IT OUT!!!! An ingenious free-kick move from Kilday and Osagie, which has put Sheffield Wednesday up early on tonight!!! A big big goal for Adam Hart's side, as it's ARSENAL 0-1 (1-3) SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY!!

13th minute:

Murati for Arsenal. He finds Boonen in the middle of the Sheffield half, Bonnen out left to Thomma... Thomma to Zikic on the edge of the box, back to Boonen ohh and a quick little pass to Thomma who's in the box and CAN SHOOOOOT.... Brauer couldn't keep it out! Arsenal have a goal back within a matter of minutes and it looks like we will a real game on tonight! It's ARSENAL 1-1 (2-3) SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY

45th minute:

The referee brings a close to a strange first half. The first 13 minutes were completely action packed , but since then it's quietened down a bit. Sheffield lead on aggregate, 1-1 on the night, as things stand if Arsenal did get just 1 more goal without reply, we'll have extra-time tonight. But if Wednesday do score again, then no matter what the final score is, we will have a winner within 90 minutes.

49th minute:

Arnauld with a free kick for Wednesday just inside the Arsenal half. He finds Clement Claude out on the left, who passes to Lewis in the middle... Lewis out to Brener, but Zanetti clatters into the Brazilian and gets the ball. He smashes it up the pitch to Fernandez and the break is really on now... he's running down the right wing of Wednesday unoppossed... Fernandez with a low pass in TO ZIKICCCCC!!! A fantastic start to the half for The Arsenal, because they're right back in this tie now. If things stay the same we will go to extra-time tonight! ARSENAL 2-1 (3-3) SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY

 56th minute:

An Arsenal corner. Zanetti hits it into the middle, but Arnauld clears it well out of the box... but Makhlouf picks it up, it's Makhlouf, he finds Murati, Murati to Thomma just outside the box...he passes it across to FERNANDEZZZZZZ.... Brauer gets a hand to it, but he can only parry it into his own net!!! And Arsenal take the lead, not just on the night, but on aggregate too!!! ARSENAL 3-1 (4-3) SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY

67th minute:

Zanetti with the ball for Arsenal out by the byline, ohhh and Moalisson Brener has tackled him... Brener finds Kilday who has run deep a bit to collect it, Kilday with a short ball to Osagie who finds Yianni ahead of him... ohhh and Yianni with a nice ball to Kilday who's about 30 yards out... OHHHH AND KILDAY'S PLAYED IN ROMULO INTO THE BOX... JUST THE KEEPER TO BEAAAAAAT.....OHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! HE TOOK A TOUCH, HE CONTROLLED IT, THEN HE CALMLY STRUCK IT OVER THE DIVING KEEPER!!!! A HUGE HUGE GOAL FOR SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY, WHO DESPITE STILL LOSING ON THE NIGHT, COULD NOW PROGRESS ON AWAY GOALS!!! It's ARSENAL 3-2 (4-4) SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY

76th minute:

A throw in for Arsenal in the Wednesday half. Bakero to launch it into the box...Rory Delap style baby... Zikic jumps for it but Moalisson Brener is there too...ohhh and the referee's seen something here, a goal kick maybe...NO!!! OHHH AND WHAT A STORY HERE!!! The referee has awarded a penalty for Arsenal and the home fans are going absolutely nuts! Absolutely gutting for Sheffield, as if this goal goes in, then Arsenal would be going through once more...

77th minute:

It's Marcelo Carvalho who will take this for Arsenal. A big big moment in this tie. Lukas Brauer, the big German in the Wednesday goal, not a stranger to penalty heroics, he's made some fine saves from the spot in his short Sheffield career so far...but a save here would certainly eclipse any of the others...

It's Carvalho vs Brauer.... OHHHHHHHH AND BRAUER HAS PULLED OFF THE BIGGEST SAVE OF HIS CAREER!!! IT WAS A GOOD PENALTY, AIMED RIGHT AT THE FAR CORNER OF THE GERMAN'S NET, BUT HE GOT ALL THE WAY ACROSS AND MANAGED TO PARRY IT WIDE!!!! A HUGEEEEE let off for Sheffield Wednesday, the Arsenal fans fall silent once more...and Adam Hart's men have just over 10 minutes to hold on and they'll be in the Champions League final!

84th minute:

A corner for Wednesday. It's Moalisson Brener to deliver this one... he finds Romaldini at the BACK POSTTTTT... OH AND PARRIED BY LENCH AND THEN FERNANDEZ CLEARS IT OFF THE LINE!!!! Inches away and if Wednesday had scored that then they'd have surely done enough to get past this Arsenal side.

86th minute:

A corner for Arsenal. Thomma to pump it in... he finds Carlos who heads it down...and it falls TO SRIJBOSCHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He's absolutely smashed that one into the top right corner, Brauer had absolutely no chance and with that goal, he may well have sunk Sheffield's dream of a place in the final!!! It's ARSENAL 4-2 (5-4) SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY

92nd minute:

Kilday with it for Wednesday. Last chance saloon surely now... he plays it across the Arsenal half to Osagie, first time ball towards Yianni... Yianni might go for goal here, but no Gaetano tackles him and plays it back to Lench... Lench smashes it but it's not the best ball as it falls to Leigh Brown out wide...BUT IT DOESN'T MATTER!!! THE REFEREE HAS BLOWN FOR FULL TIME AND IT'S ARSENAL WHO WILL BE IN THE FINAL!! An absolutely gutting end to a fairytale Champions League campaign for Sheffield Wednesday, it will be a real come down for them especially after that penalty save, they must've thought luck was on their side, but Fernandez headed off the line late on and then Srijbosch scored the decisive goal to put them down!

May

A poor end to the season saw us lose our last 3 Premier League games. The CL loss felt very deflating so it was pretty hard to pick ourselves up from that and actually do anything in those last 2 matches, the next 1 of course, which ended up being away at Arsenal.

We still managed to end up 3rd though so we will have an automatic spot in the CL Group Stage next year.

Season 43: Sheffield Wednesday

590c9fc0794fea145114fb135c63fa28.png

A fantastic run in the CL and obviously an improvement on last season in the league. I'd have definitely taken this at the start of the season, but it still feels a bit deflating after the season we've had to have only won the Community Shield.

Squad

Kilday had another great season, his figures skewed a bit by that mental 7 goals in a game against Chelsea, but all the same, 52 goals and 18 assists in all competitions, you can't go wrong really. Silvio Luiz had an alright season but suffered yet another long term injury which is a bit of a worry tbh. Moalisson Brener was a real threat on the left hand side and he's now even doing the business for Brazil too, it will be a challenge to hang onto him for too much longer but we'll do our best. Dale Lewis had a fantastic season in central midfield and he's another one that we'll do well to keep for the short and long term future, plenty of clubs interested but he's not had his head turned just yet. Cherubin Ngiamba  did well at CB, he may be one we might lose this summer with Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich all hovering.

What a bizarre season for Matt. He had a decent spell at Mansfield Town for 6 months, but then in January they passed on renewing his loan deal. It looked like months of reserve action beckoned for him, until a huge injury crisis to the first team saw him lining up in 4 Champions League matches for us. I still can't believe he managed to score on his debut and in the Champions League as well, incredible stuff.

We had a busier summer than I expected. Barcelona came in with £49M for Silvio Luiz in August, I didn't plan to sell him but £49M for him seemed a good price due to his very questionable injury record. A very good striker, but two big injuries already means I'm not too fussed to see him go at that price. Romaldini left for Real Madrid, £31M is a pretty good price for a full back who wasn't exactly world class. I didn't want to sell Ngiamba, but he had his head turned by Bayern and was demanding £160K a week which I wasn't going to pay him, so we'll eventually get £37M for him which is a fairly alright deal. Sunderland came in with more or less £33M for Sergio Stucki, he's a talented player, but that sort of money for what was at the time, a 4th choice striker, is mental and I wasn't turning that down. I also sold a few squad players in Henrique Camara, Florian Ebeling, Desley Grot, Armin Hadzik, Richard Carter-Heywood, Havard Gudmestad and Bogar Riis.

Sandro was, or will eventually, be the most expensive player I've signed so far. He's a 24 year old striker who looks to be very good, I've actually had my eye on him for around 3/4 years, initially when he was still at Santos I wanted him, but admit interest from Chinese clubs his wage demands were astronomical for a player untested in Europe. He wounded up going to Sporting Lisbon last season and got 35 and 14 assists in 40 games for them, I jumped at the chance to pick him up. I actually signed him before selling Silvio Luiz as I thought **** it we'll have 3 top top quality strikers this season because we can. So when Silvio Luiz did go, I got in Jean Claude-Ambassa from Real Madrid. He's a very good striker who has 24 goals in 31 games for Cameroon, he's a young lad who has found himself stuck on the Real Madrid bench, so I thought **** it, he can have a pay rise and sit on our bench for a bit. Maybe he'll force himself into the team, we'll see. Evangelos Ioannidis is a very versatile young interesting prospect in defence, I've got him in to be a cover player but obviously at that price he will hopefully go on to play a more important first team role. Karim De Wilde is an 18 year old wonderkid from Belgium. He's young, hungry and will provide great cover and competition to Leigh Brown on the right side of midfield. Claudio Laprovitera is a fantastic CB, a 25 year old Uruguayan international, I honestly can't believe PSG were selling him, let alone at that price. They must have some real quality CBs if they're letting us have him for just over £20M. The final signing worth talking about sees Souleymane Doumbia-Traore join us from Sevilla to replace Romaldini at RB.

Considering the incredibly rough first 3 games I feel like we've made a decent start. It was annoying to lose to Arsenal again, but at least we beat United and got back on track with a win at West Brom after losing at Spurs.

Very early days.

Despite being 3rd seeds this time, another hell of a draw in the Champions League :D

We didn't have the best time of it in the League Cup. It's always a good competition to play squad players and keep them happy, but we won't be doing much of that this season as we're out at the first hurdle.

An absolutely fantastic result at Camp Nou, a heroic performance from Dale Lewis see us pick up 3 points in our first group stage game.

Still a long way to go with 5 games to play though

Villa away and City at home continued our difficult run of games, sadly losing both of them, but we did pick up a late winner to make sure we got 3 points against Fulham.

A poor start but we have had a very tricky run to start things off

Bayern outplayed us and deserved their win.

We absolutely thumped Basel though, with Sandro getting 4 goals.

Bayern have beaten Barcelona which does us a huge favour. They did beat Basel though and you'd expect them to beat them again, but if we can avoid defeat to them we're in with a real chance of making it through.

A better month in the league saw a high scoring draw with Newcastle, as well as a strong away win at Chelsea and a defeat of Stoke too.

A solid win in Switzerland, which was followed by a massive home win to knock Barcelona out.

Bayern have more or less topped the group, but we have a chance to wrestle it from them in our last group game.

5 from 12 in the league, not great form and we've really not been at in the league so far.

A respectable point in Munich to end our Group Stage campaign.

We've got Inter Milan in the 1st Knockout Round, which all in all, is not too bad of a draw.

We won 4 of our first 4 this month, including a fantastic late win at home to Arsenal to top it off. Sadly since then we've lost to both Leicester and West Ham, which was quite disappointing.

The title is gone for sure unfortunately. We'll focus on just the FA Cup and Champions League this year, but I think we could still just about make a push for 2nd.
