That looks like it's going to be a brilliant title race, seems like you have the hardest run in though :(
That's a tough set of fixtures for you compared to the others, but good luck anyway :)
Man, that's close. Definitely a possibility but you will need some help from other clubs winning against your opponents.

You are all correct boys. We have such a tough run-in that if we do manage to win the league we bloody deserve it!!!

Indeed you will!

Time will tell whether this will be the case!!!

Good luck in the run in, a lot of points up for grabs. Your match against Bayern is a real 6-pointer!

That is one which I am not really looking forward to I must say. It will be a very nervy game.

SRL88's Career - April 2037 - Borussia Monchengladbach

Bundesliga

Well sadly our title hopes are all but over following April. We were poor against Koln and after being 1-0 down for much of the game but managed to score with just a few minutes left, only to concede a stupid goal seconds later. We bounced back with a cracking win over Dortmund before the game which effectively deciced our season. We matched each other all over the park and with the game heading for a 1-1 draw, Bayern scored with one of the last kicks of the game to pinch the win. Luckily this didnt affect us as we rounded the win off with a nice 2-0 win to seal Europa League football next season.

Tough to come so close, but a chance in the Europe League will be good as well for next season.
Unlucky m8 for just missing out on the title :/ But you did freaking awesome for your first season in Germany with "middle league" team!! :)
Good challenge though.

Cheers lads .

It has been a cracking debut season and we still have May to look forward to where we can seal Champions League football & also have the Pokal Final.

DFB Pokal Final

Route to Munich

Bochum

VfLBochumFixtures_Fixtures.png

Our opponents had a bit of a mixed run to the Final. They required extra time against non-league opposition in the first round before a corker of a tie at home to Bayern. A cracking 5-3 win AET moved them into the Third Round where they comfortably beat Cottbus before 1-0 wins over Jena & Schalke in the Quater & Semi-Final's respectively.

Borussia Monchengladbach

BorussiaMnchengladbachFixtures_Fixtures-2-6.png

We had no such troubles in booking our ticket to Munich really. We destroyed our First Round opponents before an easy win at home to HSV. We beat Frankfurt to set up a Quater-Final tie against Dortmund, which turned out to be our toughest test. We battled our way to a 1-0 win and then beat Second Division Aachen in the Semi-Final

The Match

BochumvGladbachInformation_Overview.png

What a brilliant way to end our campaign!!!! We were given a tough game by our opponents but our class showed. The first half was very tight and tense and we went in 0-0 at half time. It didnt take us long into the second half to score as Geoff McAllister popped up with a real poachers effort. When Bochum equilised it set off a real chain of events as McAllister went right up the other end and hammered a shot into the roof of the net, before Marcelinho scored with a beautiful right footed finish to effectively seal the game for us.

We managed to see the season out in brilliant fashion to garuntee Champions League football for ourselves. The toughest of the two games away to Bremen was a walk in the park, much to my surprise. I was honestly shocked that we werent given more of a game as we dominated from the off, and the following day, after Frankfurt beat Schalke to seal 3rd place for us. We rounded the season off at home to Hoffenheim in comprehensive fashion.

DFB Pokal Final

A brilliant way to round off a fantastic season. In a tense affair which lit up in the second half, our class showed as we managed to claim the Pokal.

Congrats on the cup!

Cheers fella .

Good consolation prize.

I think consolation is a tad harsh. I never aimed to do so well in the league. I would have been chuffed with Europa League qualification through the league, which is what I aimed for and we overachieved in that sense.

SRL88's Career - Season Review - 2036/37 - Borussia Monchengladbach

Bundesliga - Results 1 - Results 2 (3rd)

A brilliant debut season in Germany for me as I took a side who finished in the bottom half last season to Champions League qualification. We were right in the mix for the title until the defeat away to Bayern with just a few weeks to go in the season, but I am by no means disappointed at all. Brilliant achievement!!!

DFB Pokal (Winners)

A cracking way to round off my first season with my new club. We were fantastic throughout the competition, marching through the rounds comfortably. Our only major obsticle was Dortmund who we beat 1-0. A 3-1 win over Bochum in the Final saw us lift the Pokal.

Transfers - Finances

A mass amount of transfer activity this season, both inwards & outwards. I really splashed the cash, but in the right areas. I was delighted to have got rid of the deadwood in the side, all who were average players but saw on high wages.

The finances are ok. Im hoping the introduction of European football will change this.

Squad

We have a very strong squad, but if we are to take advantage of being in Europe, and getting closer to Bayern then we need to strengthen.

My Top 3 Players

Geoff McAllister - A brilliant debut season for the Northern Irishman. Really delighted with how he performed.

Lima - A massively underperforming player before my arrival. He really upped his game under my guidance.

Dumitru Popa - What a cracking player. He was a constant threat down the left hand side for opposition defences.

SRL88's Career - June 2037 - Cyprus

World Cup Qualifier

CyprusFixtures_Fixtures-4.png

WorldCupEuropeanQualifyingSectionOverview_Stages-8.png

Well we dominated the game but struggled to break the deadlock. The goal came 15 minutes from time for a much needed win to keep up with Turkey.

Friendly

CyprusFixtures_Fixtures-5.png

A very end to end game which entertained the neutrals. We played really well and could have won it, but on reflection, a draw was probably a fair result.

If we are to stand any chance of reaching the Play-Off's in World Cup Qualification (which I pretty much doubt), these are the remaining fixtures:

SRL88's Career - Season Preview - 2037/38 - Borussia Monchengladbach

Board Expectations:

Bundesliga: Qualify for the Europa League

DFB Pokal: Reach the Quater-Final

German Super Cup: Not Important

Champions League: Reach the Group Stage

My Expectations:

Bundesliga: Qualify for the Champions League

DFB Pokal: I would love to retain it, but I think we will face a tougher test

German Super Cup: It would be nice to claim a trophy early in the season

Champions League: Group Stage is a must

Budgets:

Transfer: £18.7m

Wage: £782,595 (Currently spending £673,285)

Balance: £13,802,404 (-£959,103 since last season)

Key Player(s):

Lima - He had a brilliant season for me last term. I would like to see more from him though!!!!

Adriano - Started last season as my main striker but McAllister ended the season as the main guy. How will Adriano react?

Zdenek Vorel - Our best defender. We may need him more than ever if we are to pose any threat in Europe.

Mathias Gaismayer - He was my big money signing last season and did ok, but I want much, much more from him.

Geoff McAllister - More of the same please fella.

Our captain last season, but had been whinging for a new challenge since the day I joined the club. I held out for a year and at 31yo, and worth £4m I feel we have got a cracking deal here.

You had a great spell of success in Argentina, but can't say I'm surprised to see you back in Europe (although I wouldn't have guessed Monchengladbach!) Started well though, I see, already winning a trophy

Will be very interesting to see what you can achieve with Cyprus. You may need to work some miracles... :p

Brilliant achievement in coming third and winning the DFB-Pokal,excellent fee for Hettich and doing quite well with Cyprus as well.

Cheers dude :).

Welcome back stranger :brock:.

Its a nice change of pace with Gladbach. I got bored in Argentina and wanted something interesting. Regarding Cyprus, I cant see me staying beyond qualification as I doubt we will qualify and at that stage I will have been in International Management for 6 years solid alongside my club job. I could do with a break from the International scene.

SRL88's Career - Pre-Season - 2037/38 - Borussia Monchengladbach

Friendlies

BorussiaMnchengladbachFixtures_Fixtures-15.png

A very, very solid pre-season for us with just the one blip which came on our tour of Japan. Otherwise we won every game with some cracking results against Anderlecht, CSKA and especially away to Wolves. I am really pleased with how we played throughout our friendlies heading into the season.

German Super Cup

BorussiaMnchengladbachFixtures_Fixtures-2-9.png

The season opener and what a way to kick things off. Im chuffed that we managed to claim a trophy so early in the season, but its also the fact with how we played. We dominated most of the match and it was only in the last quarter of an hour when Bayern were chasing it that they really had any sort of hold on the game. Geoff McAllister was the star man as he grabbed both goals in a 2-1 win.

Transfers - In

Really pleased with the quality of the players which we have brought in, but also considering we havent spent much money in the process.

Benjamin Porter - £11m - Our new number one and we paid a big price, but this Australian International is quality and could be our number one for years, and years to come.

Weskey van Dijk - £2m - I scoured around for a cheap striker and found this guy who is only rated at 2* currently and has a 4 1/2* potential. I am hoping he has a similar impact to Geoff McAllister.

Kyllian Roussel - Free - Due to the departure of the ageing Marcinho, we required cover in the DM slot, but I feel this guy could push Ben Eller for a first team spot.

Davor Kristic - Free - When searching for a back-up right winger I found this guy sitting without a club following his release from Bayern. German to which will come in very handy for the home grown rules in Europe.

Franjo Franjic - Free - Another free transfer and add's a lot of quality to our squad and gives competition for places which is vastly needed in Europe.

Transfers - Out

I am absolutely delighted with our business in the transfer market here. We more than doubled our expenditature on transfers and got some brilliant money for players. The stand outs are obviously Hettich who went to Sampdoria for £15.5m, the sale of 31yo striker Adriano to Spartak Moscow for £6.5m and also managing to get £5m for Cristian Anca. As I said, delighted!!!

Well this wasnt the best game, but it was an important victory nonetheless. We were probably the better side but it was a scrappy affair. We missed a penalty in the second half before a cracking strike from Kostas Evripdou after 71 minutes gave us the win. Next up is the double header against Germany & Russia. Oh joy!!!

Take that Bayern :D Tough break with the CL draw but it could be worse I suppose, you could be in Dynamo Kyiv's position!

I suppose that is the only consolation I can take :p.
