WC Friendlies. Pfft. :D They're even less telling than qualifying campaigns - teams are usualy in the thick of their first proper international squad preparation in years, managers experiment a little here and there, and players are tired. News headlines must be as delightful in Portugal as back in Germany now though. Nationwide PANIC!-mode selected! :D

Well, Brazil lost a friendly to the selection of players from Umbria in 1990 and then was a disaster in that WC. :D

And the Dutch are winning 2-0 now.

Yep, Van Bommel and De Jong will be our starters at those positions.

Schaars and Engelaar will (probably) battle it out for one spot, I hope Schaars, I like him,not sure if he really handle that level (think mid table EPL at most), he formed a very good midfield with De Zeeuw at AZ (they won the title), on the other hand, Engelaar is a bit taller, which might be handy as well, but I prefer Schaars.

Uruguay vs Israel is about to start at the Centenario in Montevideo, very cool that a UEFA member (Israel) finally have the guts to come to South America to play a game, that doesn't happen often.

And as like Argentina, it's  how Uruguay is giving their fans a chance to watch their team for the last time before the WC, only stupid CBF is too ridiculous to do the same thing regarding the Brazilian national team.

1-1 now, Rafaelov, I think.

It was pretty much the first decent shot of Israel in the game.

Uruguay 2-1 now with Alvaro Pereira.

HT Uruguay 2-1 Israel

El Loco Abreu again, Uruguay 4-1.

Shame he went to Botafogo, we (Flamengo) could use him now Adriano is leaving. :)

The assist was made by Cavani.

Bielsa looked rather unhappy with Fierro though, yelled at him most of the match.

Do you think that could cost him his place in the squad?

IIRC Bielsa still hasn't confirmed the full 23 player list.

Thanks, I hope he stays, otherwise Kléberson will be Fla's only player in the WC since neither Claudio Maldonado nor Adriano (who is leaving anyway) made it into the WC...

FT Uruguay 4-1 Israel

Good performance by Uruguay, were dominant during most of the game.

Ireland 3 - 0 Algeria

Green

Keane x2

Paul Green

Being given his chance by Trapattoni and doing well it seems. Next match is against Argentina in August ahead of the Euro qualifiers so with a good pre-season he could be playing himself into a regular role within the squad.
