Good work sofar Nobby, interesting to see Eastwood go straight up from Conf North to the Football league, do they have a rich chairman? Who's their manager?

Can you give me an update on Durham City and Gateshead please? Also have Chester-Le-Street done anything in the game?

Thanks.

That is a strange one, yeah. Very rare case, but must be a hole in the code somewhere. Have you posted it in the Bugs forum and uploaded the pkm? Maybe too late to get in for 10.3, but nice to let the SI-blokes know about it anyway.

No, it's hardly a game breaker and is rather rare I would imagine. I don't know what a pkm is anyway, never mind how to upload one. :D

Their chairman is Robert Yong and manager is Paul Cox, both of whom have been there since the start of the game.

I'll report on the other clubs later, when I've had my tea. :)

2018/9 - Hednesford Town (Conference Premier)

Board: Avoid relegation

Media: 19th

Bookies: 50-1

Season tickets: 286 (up 5)

There is no money in the transfer nor wage budget to sign any players. My hands are well and truly tied together and I'm left with a smaller squad than last season after releasing a couple of players. Because the board seem to be showing no ambition, I refuse to sign a contract extension which would have given me a £50 per week pay rise.

A great start on the pitch sees a 4-0 win at Kidderminster and then also scoring 4 at Droylsden and Morecambe. I pick an unchanged team for the opening eight games and after twelve we're in a very good 9th position. Wallace has his shooting boots again this season. Pleasing.

Game 16 sees us two down at home to leaders MK Dons who have won their last six games. A storming comeback to win 3-2 sparks a long unbeaten run and as Christmas arrives, we're surprising everybody and sit in 6th position.

The transfer window closes and still with no money available, we make no signings. Our form dips and we start to slide, but when the end of the season comes, it's been a good one and the final position was much better than I was expecting.

As the season ends, my contract is expiring and despite repeated offers from the board, I still refuse to sign. I want to wait to see what money they make available for next season before signing a new contract.

The end of season boardroom meeting goes ahead, where the board discuss goals and budgets for the new season. When the board show no ambition by setting the same target for the season and no increase in wage budget, I decide my time is up at Hednesford and let my contract expire.

I apply for a number of clubs, and my options become two. I turn down East Fife in the Scottish Second Division and move to...

2019/20 - Northampton Town (League One)

Board: Fight bravely

Media: 21st

Bookies: Unknown

Season tickets: 2671 (up 41)

I am offered a 3 year contract on £575 per week, and increase of £175 on my wage at Hednesford.

Sixfields Stadium, Northampton holds 7653 (all seated) with adequate training, youth and corporate facilities. The club pay a nominal £1 per year in rent.

The club has two sponsors - a 5 year stadium deal worth £115,000 per year to 2020 and a 4 year main kit deal worth £63,500 per year to 2021.

We struggle to start with despite a couple of good opening games. Things don't improve, confidence is rock bottom and it becomes clear we are in the proverbial dogfight.

Then we beat Sheffield Wednesday 4-0 at Sixfields to spark a good run, albeit a short one.

In January, the loan signing of Neil Walters from Arsenal's reserve team sparks the team in to some life. His goals sees the team show some improvement.

With two games to play we are three points above the drop zone. A draw at Walsall and Coventry losing prevents squeaky bum time. Walters' 12 goals in 15 games underlines his great contribution to our survival. Would we have gone down without him? Probably. A mention also to rookie Lloyd Wordsworth, who showed bags of potential in his first year in football and was rewarded with two caps for the England under 19 side in the Summer.

Signing Walters would be great for the club, but he still has two years left on his Arsenal contract and is worth millions. Hopefully I can get him on a season long loan. Watching Wordsworth develop will be exciting, like poetry if you will...

Thanks both.

Close Jordi, Remco was born in Spermalie, Belgium. He was then signed by Celtic from Club Brugge in his first season and went on to be capped for Scotland against Ecuador. So much for the "Gentleman's agreement".

He's back in Scotland now as well. The chairman sold him to Aberdeen for £650,000 in pre season.

Walters is refusing to rejoin on loan. Looks like this season will be even tougher than the first one at Sixfields. If Wordsworth goes we've had it.

Best of luck with the Cobblers, Nobby - so how many times have you played against Southampton in the cups with them so far? Saints v Northampton seems to be a regular cup fixture in real life these days!

By the way, which competition is the Eidos Suck Arse trophy? Is that what you call the JPT?

I've only played Southampton once, but I'm only in my second season with Northampton.

The Johnstones Paint Trophy is indeed what I have called Eidos Suck Arse Trophy. It's because the Johnstones Paint Trophy is a waste of time, just like Eidos. Hence, they both suck arse.

It wasn't the Eidos Suck Arse Trophy when Stoke played in the final a couple of times some years ago.

Eidos were still making the Sports Interactive version of Championship Manager back then.

Thanks Midlothian... yes keeping Wordsworth is going to be key, or at least long enough for me to be able to build a solid squad around him. Hopefully the chairman won't sell him like he did with Jimi Hendrix... er, I mean Remco Hendrickx.

Hey mate,

just read through all your progress and you hae done well going from a teamin the northen league division one south to a team in leagu 1. I was over the moon when I saw Brighton get promoted to the championship and then they went down to league two. How are they doing as a whole? I am also surprised at how well the Ukranians are doing havng won 1 world cup and 1 euro championship so far in your game. Anyway, goodluck for the future,

Best Wishes,

Pete

Wordsworth - he's staying as long as I'm able to keep him. Iron fist indeed!

Pete - Thanks. Ukraine have been strong which I've not noticed in other people's careers. Shows how one game world is different from another. I'll update you on Brighton when I next play.
