I was never sent or supplied with an activation code, and I don't want to have to play the game through Steam. I never had to do that with FM09. Unfortunately it's not quite as simple as expected, mainly because we have to figure out match and squad rules and such, and it's very difficult to find that information for obscure leagues. Same question as this really. Do you really need steam open to run fm10? In fm09 you could create a shortcut of the .exe file from (C-Program Files-Steam-Steamapps-common-football manager 09) and this would allow you to access the game without the steam client open.
