FM11 - British & Irish Youth

I rarely manage outside the UK, and I love keeping a core of domestic players, so I decided to make a thread where we could stick all good Irish, Northern Irish, Welsh and Scottish prospects and of course, the saviors of English football. I'll try to update the OP with other peoples' posts to make players easier to find.

Here we go, let's start with the most obvious prodigies. I'll just post a few to get things going and I'll add some more later.

Jack Wilshere - http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/5039/jackr.png

Unarguably the most talented Englishman coming through. He can play all across the midfield - left, right and center - with the AMC being his natural position. Wenger is playing him in a deeper role and consequently his defensive side of the game is a lot better than on the previous edition of FM. Scout says he can be as good as Fabregas; with careful training and tutoring he's bound to become a complete midfielder. The only downside is his horrible right foot.

Jack Rodwell - http://img838.imageshack.us/i/rodwell.png/

Fantastic talent on FM10, probably the same this time round. He's adept at playing in the midfield and as a center back, which people say is his natural position, but I think it's a waste to play him in defense because he's got the tools to become a world class box-to-box midfielder. My scouts say he'll be better than Alex Song which, well, makes him good I guess.

Nathan Delfouneso - http://img829.imageshack.us/i/delfouneso.png/

I signed this fella for Blackburn on FM10 and he scored over 150 goals in just over 200 apps for me. He seems just as good on FM11, just the kind of striker I like - pace to burn and a good finisher. Scouts say he can be as good as Van Persie.

Connor Wickham - http://img229.imageshack.us/i/wickham.png/

The huge lad from Ipswich. Amazing stats for a 17 year old. Fairly high determination and with good tutoring can only improve his mental stats. Delfouneso - Wickham for England anyone? Likewise for the lad above, he'll be as good as RvP it seems.

Kieran Gibbs - http://img87.imageshack.us/i/gibbs.png/

The natural successor to Ashley Cole (he's not a c**t however... hopefully), he can play LM aswell as LB if I'm not mistaken. My coach says he can be as good as Clichy.

Aaron Ramsey - http://img685.imageshack.us/i/ramsey.png/

It'll be one sad story if this lad doesn't fulfill his potential IRL after that horrible leg break. He's out for another 3-5 months on the game. Fantastic midfielder, can use both feet and has the killer balls PPM. He was a -10 on FM10, not sure about this one, but the coach says he'll be as good as Cesc.

Phil Jones - http://img839.imageshack.us/i/jones.png/

Looks like he can develop into a beast of a CB. Will become as good as Vermaelen if my scouts are to be believed.

Henri Lansbury - http://img695.imageshack.us/i/lansbury.png/

One of the brighter prospects of the Arsenal academy. I'll stick my neck out and say he'll make it for L'Arse IRL but that's not really relevant here is it. He turned out quite well for me on FM10. He also has the stats for a striker, bar the composure perhaps... worth a punt surely? He's a natural CM in game. Scouts say that he won't be quite Fabregas-level but a leading Premier league CM nonetheless.

Adam Matthews - http://img109.imageshack.us/i/matthews.png/

The Welsh Daniel Alves! He was linked to Arsenal in the past and he looks like a good attacking RB prospect.

Josh McEachran - http://img185.imageshack.us/i/mceachran.png/

The next next big thing. Having watched him play a few times I have to say this lad is pretty good, especially given his age. Another one for the "as good as Cesc" brigade.

Danny Wilson - http://img42.imageshack.us/i/wilsont.png/

Probably the best young British defender in-game, arguably one of Liverpools better buys over the past few years, time will tell if Hodgson will turn him into Titus Bramble. Scout report - better than Vermaelen.

Tom Cleverley - http://img190.imageshack.us/i/cleverley.png/

A quality young AMF, can play all across the midfield with AML being his natural position. He's got fantastic attributes spread out nicely, I think this one can turn out to be very, very exciting. Scouts say he'll become as good as Arshavin.

Jordan Henderson - http://img264.imageshack.us/i/henderson.png/

The young star of Sunderland, I feel he's a bit underrated on here as he's pretty much doing the business for them in the PL. Nevertheless he looks decent and can turn out to be quality with a good tutor. Mr. Grimandi believes he'll not be quite as good as Cesc, but still a leading Prem midfielder.

Matt James - http://img842.imageshack.us/i/jamesf.png/

Overall a good player, IMO a potentially proper box-to-box midfielder because of his PPMs - arrives late in the opposition area, shoots from distance, tries long range passes. A 'good' Premiership midfielder in the future .

Sam Magri - http://img822.imageshack.us/i/magri.png/

The only Pompey player worth looking at; Scouts say he can't be quite as good as Vermaelen but at 1.5m he's worth a punt surely.

Jay Emmanuel - Thomas - http://img41.imageshack.us/i/manuthomas.png/

Ah, what to do with this lad? Don't worry, Wenger doesn't know either. He can play left-back, left-midfield, center back, center midfield, DM, left wing, striker and at last but not least, the AMC position which is supposedly his natural habitat. I'd rule out turning him into a defender because of his poor marking and he still has rather good attributes for a striker/winger.

Daniel Sturridge - http://img199.imageshack.us/i/sturridge.png/

He's one of the older players in this post but he's also one of the best. I'd put him in the Delfouneso mold; he's got raw pace and good technique which will one day, hopefully, put him next to... Robin van Persie, if Mr Grimaldi is to be trusted. Anyway, he's at Chelsea so good luck getting him.

Danny Welbeck - http://img534.imageshack.us/i/welbeck.png/

Another Danny; some of my friends make fun of me for saying this but the way he moves and runs reminds me of a certain Thierry Henry, only he may not be as good. Decent player.

Jack Robinson - http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/4055/jackrobinson.png - credit to hitman19ko for the screenshot!

A talented left-back playing for Liverpool. Not sure on his potential.

Jordan Rhodes - http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/3807/rhodesr.jpg

He doesn't have the most impressive stats, but he's a top League One player. On FM2010, I turned him into a good premier league striker as Man Utd, and he eventually transferred from West Ham to Arsenal for £10.5million after I sold him to West Ham for between £4-5 million IIRC. Worth a punt, if you have the cash to spare.
- cheers Brandijoh!

I'll add more later and you guys feel free to post away. When the full version is out, I'll also add CA/PA for each player and possibly screens when they are fully developed. Cheers!

26-10-10 : OP updated!

I wouldn't say that Ty, if you've got the time to do it, and want to do it (more importantly), then I'd say do it. I'm sure it will be a useful tool for people to use, while this thread is more for discussion of the players and keeping an eye out for how they develop.

Good OP, good to see screenies of them, and useful to hear scout reports too. When I'm next on I'll have a little scout around and see if I can find any. I always sign Jordan Rhodes as Man Utd for some reason, so I'll see how good he is this year, and probably buy him in the full version.

Yeah you make a wise point. Would be completely different sort of threads!

I will continue to make mine when the full game is released then

Oh don't worry, I will find the time to make it as well.

It looks like Jay Emmanuel-Thomas has a pretty decent PA this year. Last time I checked he had "the potential to become a leading Premier League attacking midfielder". Versitle and athletic. Has some shocking mental stats, however.

I was having a nosey on FMRTE and I found this kid. Has the potential to be one of the best defenders in the world.... I went to try and snap him up as Man Utd but he didn't want to even talk to me :L

jackrobinson.png

current/potential ability

CA: 67 PA: 180!

I doubt he is a fixed PA, possibly -9?

OP updated. Poke me if I missed anything or forgot to credit someone.

Avon Barksdale - I take it you're a Sunderland fan? :) He's criminally underrated by many (SI included obviously) in my opinion too, although I have to admit I didn't remember him when writing the OP, sorry! Quality player.

Aye sorry for snapping :o

Good to know he turns out OK, I think not quite as good as Fabregas seems fair as well :)

Ravel Morrison: 17 year old Manchester United attacking midfielder.

Touted by some as United's most promising prospect since the class of '92. Questionable personality means he will be in need of a strong tutor.

ravelmorrisonprofileatt.png

I remember this guy in FM10 - I could never get him off the ground. Never wanted to be tutored by anyone and was really annoying! Do you guys have any idea who would be a good tutor for him this year. Its a waste of talent if no one can get him playing to his potential

Couldn't believe this guy wasn't in the opening post. He's a serious wildcard in real life and a joker in the pack for both club and country for the next few years.

And this is the problem, he's got a few personality problems in real life but it seems this season he might've started to get around them. But as far as FM is concerned I fear he might just be the same as last year... promising so much but never quite managing to reach his potential.

Wrong, wrong, wrong!

Ryan Williams and Chinedu Vine are both just as promising! Vine not being English is excluded.

How dare you say we only have one player  "Why I Oughta..."

Connor Wickham

17 years old and already a first team regular at Ipswich IRL, not sure his height stats are right on FM2011 as he looks bigger than the rest of the squad. Starts the game injured but already "dubbed the new Alan Shearer" and has Barcelona, Man Utd and Arsenal sniffing around when he recovers from the injury!

Whoops missed that, also Luke Hyam, also at Ipswich, labelled the next Owen Hargreaves, good defensive stats, operates in CM, DM & DR

So basically, he is labelled the next injury prone reserve team player  Awesome!

In FM10, I had trouble with him and Rooney clashing but was able to get him to agree to a mentoring under Giggs and I saw some great development in his personality. In FM11, he refused to be tutored by Giggs yet was very happy to work under Scholes and has already shown some improvements on his mental attributes and personality.

Yeah, I tried to get Giggs to tutor him but it couldn't persuade him. Slightly annoyed as I feel Giggs is the perfect player to tutor him given the types of players they are and Giggs model pro personality. I'll give Scholes go.

Has tutoring changed on this version or is it just me, it seems slightly harder.

Zeli Ismail Is one that should be added. Is highly thought of by a lot of youth coaches, and a lot of teams have reportedly attempted to entice him away from the Molineux.

Not on FM at the moment so can't get a pic.

But I do recall my assistant saying he has the potential to be a leading premier league player.

Tom Cairney in Hull City is like a young Jimmy Bullard on my save. Very talented left foot midfielder. He compares to Jim Baxter

Just signed Tom Cairney for Newcastle, really liked the look of him from the times I saw of him last season in real life, still reckon someone should snap him up and he looks really promising on FM11, Calderwood reckons he has the potential to be a key member of the first team squad.

Hey Tyoldinho, are you going to do your list like last time? that was awesome man. Hope you release it with your -9, -10 list

Due to the time that the list took last time (British youth)... I will do that over the next couple weeks.

The -9, -10 and high fixed potential players under 23 should be ready and done tomorrow
