I feel sorry for SI

Recommended Posts

only been a member on the forums for a short while but have been reading them for ages.

i laugh at some peoples comments. ok there are a few bugs but they will be fixed in the next patch.

features have been asked for by loads of members and when they are implemented they complain. make yr mind up. as well ive noticed that if people arnt winning they immediatley blame a bug. I noticed on another thread a couple of people were complaining that when a player is on international duty that the icon is red the same as an injury. JESUS sort yer crack out will yer. It Red basically means he cant play, whats the difference.

SI will never please everyone. It would be IMPOSSIBLE to make the perfect game because everyone wants to see different things. As well i think people just make it their mission to find little bugs like a spelling mistake things like that.

any how rant over

Although its great you feel sorry for SI, and believe me, they get a lot of hassle from these forums, but do you really think a thread like this would help them very much? Don't get me wrong, the gesture is very nice, but this forum isn't here for threads like this, and are as much of a nuisance as the threads we dislike, due to the fact that they detract from what the forum is actually here for.

Maybe not to you, but to me, and others, the forum is a big deal. The fact he's broken 2 rules IS a big deal. Sure, they're minor rules, but in trying to keep the forum sane, threads like this, weather complaining or praising towards SI cause threads that hold actual importance and use of the forum to drop down the page and go unnoticed to other members.

first off.......to complain about how this is in the wrong forum is AMAZINGLY petty.....it's not like he posted a tactic, or asked for a different skin...... he made a comment about how everyone's bitching about the new game when we haven't even seen it yet....

anyway, replying to the OP....I felt like you did. everyone was complaining waaaay too much 30 seconds into the game about the smallest of things. However.....I think some of them have a point. The 3-d looks much worse than some of us expected (honestly, I thought it looked horrible, but it's growing on me), the injury bug plus the lack of compatibility with some systems.

My biggest complaint is the fact that I literally cannot get past the 3rd friendly without screaming in frustration.....whether the game has crashed, or froze, or I've conceded two inexplicable own goals (not a big deal, but when you read about it happening a lot to someone, and then the same thing happens to you, it strikes a nerve), or I've lost a huge amount of people to injury....even after lowering my training levels and subbing much earlier than usual.

This demo is borderline unplayable to some people....me included. I think that with all of the stuff they've put into it they don't deserve some of the stuff being said on here. At the same time, this demo is seriously buggy and a lot of us are just really frustrated. I'll probably play 09, but not until I hear on here that these issues are somewhat fixed

It's important to hear from people having problems with things in the game, that way they can improve it. It's of course best if the criticism is presented in a constructive and mature manner, but not everybody is capable of that... it's just the way it is.

If people didn't come on here to complain, much less would have been fixed in patches!

I'm glad we had this talk :)

Hey, I am the first one who gets tired of the same complaints.

But.

This is business. We pay money, and we get a good. That good has to be worth what we pay for. It doesn't matter that "every game has bugs." We pay for a good, and we deserve to get a good product.

Caution: With this I am not saying that SI doesn't deliver. I don't think that is the case. However, I do think that complaining about bug, or demanding a better quality is only legit, and in my opinion, it helps improve the game as well.

Just my two cents.

Really? What about bugs that we aren't even aware of yet possible bugs in leagues that weren't playable... Bugs that have been going on for years and that have been reported over and over again, bugs SI have told people they will fix, but somehow managed not to... The list can go on... Sure they will fix a few things here and there at least the ones most people notice, but it's time they fix bugs that are reported to them on time...

there could be more bugs yes...time will tell , it is impossible to have a perfect game but hopefully with the patch we get that will eridicate the main probs eg injurys and compatibility issues with peoples gfx cards.

I agree with everyone who has ever visited the forums. I love all posts/ hate all posts, love the demo/ hate the demo and will be / won't be buying the game. Keep up the good work/ I hate you SI. ;)

P.S. Perhaps a more balanced view on the forums would be of benefit? Just a thought.

I've been very patient with the FM09 demo. My way-above-spec laptop ran the 3d graphics very jerkily and I was quite disappointed because it looked great on my friend's PC. But I had to trawl through so MANY ridiculous "I'm a petulant child and I want I want I want" posts that it took nearly a week for me to find the information I needed to fix the issue.

One night I just sat down and threw various words into the search facility and eventually came to one thread that talked specifically about my graphics card (SiS Mirage) which isn't really designed for gaming, but the thread http://community.sigames.com/showthread.php?t=57726&highlight=mirage really helped. I messed up initially but when I got it back I was very happy.

In other words, my patience paid off.

Other techie stuff in http://community.sigames.com/showthread.php?t=55372 also helped. And a bunch of other tips that I found when searching, but it just took so long to find I was close to giving up.

The forums are supposed to be about helping one another (in Good Player Guide, Tactics, etc) and socialising with FM as the central discussion subject (General), but seem to be used increasingly for sniping and ranting about how the game isn't a bespoke design for their requirements. You'd think the injury bug had caused some people's dog to die. This is why the more mature members (I consider myself one of those) often reply with a sarcastic comment such as "Yeah, I agree. And you know what else SI should do? Add a search facility to these forums. Oh, wait..." or simply responding with a link, which seems to wind people up even though they are in the wrong. Yes, one of the forum instructions is to DO A SEARCH BEFORE STARTING A NEW THREAD. Of course I expect the odd duplication here and there - forum search facilities are notoriously shaky - but it's just getting silly now.

**and breathe...**

Just on the search facility - tbh, I only really have a problem when to find duplicate threads all you'd have to do is press Ctrl+F and type something like "injuries", or "demo" or "patch" to get seven similar posts on the opening page. I mean, ffs, that really is inexcusable.

But I agree with the sentiments from the OP, I don't necessarily feel sorry for SI, but I sometimes think Miles comes in for far too much stick (look at the grief he got because he had the audacity to put the SI podcast on iTunes, or the stick for the blogs not containing all the information everyone wanted, or the stick for talking about IRL football on the FM podcast, and that's even before we get onto the demo!!).

Nothing like sitting on the fence.....and no matter what you post on this forum someone is going to rip into it...be it the SI bashers or the....well lets be polite and call them SI guardians

Im a big fan of 2D, so even though the 3D doesnt run well on my laptop...it doesnt really matter for ME

However, the 2D is so jerky, and is not very smooth. Now i understand when i have alot of programs running, or im flicking between screens, web browsers, itunes etc it can cause the game not to run smooth, but on my Macbook the performance is very poor, as i say the 2D doesnt run smooth at all like past years, and the game is sluggish, sometimes taking more than one click to get it to respond, there is lag when dragging positions or in the tactics screen

This will be sorted i know in the patch which is fantastic, i only treat the demo as a taster of the main product, i dont play it seriously like i will with my career game, but for the general feel (Press conferences, the match engine balence, transfers etc) its looking very positive

Ive enjoyed my taster, which meens when i get the full game i can get straight in there, which some of the issues ironed out

The patch should sort out 90% of the problems, roll on 14th
