His name honestly could not be better.  I wish I'd come up with it

I may steal it next year!

Haha :p. I find myself pronouncing his surname 'Harper' for ease. There was a Hampus Lindgren regen, but he was such an awful fitness coach I couldn't bring myself to sign him.

Rick! What a name!

Also, well done in Spain! I look forward to reading about the struggles of Sweden!

I'm sure Rick's full name was something like Ricardo Teixeira dos Santos and he was around 22 yo so was unlucky losing all his hair already!

Cheers, it's been a struggle so far.

Both of them?!

Seriously though, seems like an interesting choice, I like clubs with a bit of history like that.

Getting crowds of 200+ which is HUGE for this level . Yeah I do like a club with a bit of a history or twist.

2017 Mid-season Update

Results

ebf69ca6ca153060931be7be5594a656.png

We actually started pretty well, but after than catastrophic 5-0 loss followed by 6-5 loss from 5-0 up our form took a turn for the worse. We had our own little come back in the final game before the half way point, winning 5-3 from 3-2 down. Hopefully it will be a turning point for us.

League Table

ec91f7386b0ab37126dcccfa8aa4643e.png

12 points from 13 games is poor and we are rightfully in a relegation scrap. As it stands, we'd be going into a relegation play-off. I'm pleased that we managed to get a point against FC Gute, who are running away with the league at the moment.

Players

It doesn't look great, but we've got 3 players who have been doing okay:

afa803fa4ebcbb238a2d64f9937d0c2f.png

Nwapa has been a creative force on the wings and bags a brace against Eskilstuna City to register his first goals.

c05f83e77ae2210b1fbf49129d00034f.png

Petkovic's reasonable pace has made him an asset in our back line.

3f1fa6d3f7c665a89c59d792b167c01f.png

Yildirim is our top scorer and we will be reliant on him to win us points.

A couple of players are first team ready, one as a star player.

Torabi looks decent. He's got pace, work rate, determination and decisions. He should excel for us at this level.

We're lacking in the DM department and Suer brings good mental attributes which is a breath of fresh air.

Oh dear :( :( :(. Well that was awful

Back to the drawing board. Will see if I can take on one of the newly promoted sides.

It's not awful, but not very happy with the sacking at all!:(

I hope you might restart or go for another team.

I think I will wait and see who will be the new manager of IFK Stockholm?

Yes it is a very different world from where I was not so long ago! I'm moving on. Quickly

That's the worst part of being sacked! Will you stay in Sweden or go to another nation for a while. I hope you probably the hate the hatest sacks of all time.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to stay on in Sweden

I will wait to see who is the new manager of IFK Stockholm in the next season? Probably your biggest enemy or your new rival?

This is the new man at IFK Stockholm, though as they've been relegated to the non-playable leagues I won't be facing them any time soon!

Chapter 2: AFK Linkoping

So I've been handed a second chance in Sweden. This time with well supported (well, they've sold 260 season tickets...) AFK Linkoping. The club were formed in 2012 and have appeared in the Swedish 4th tier once in 2015.

728c547d6a3ba0bd3f749f819c33f05d.png

We've got a fierce rivalry with Linkoping City, who annoyingly have been moved to a different division this season. We will face BK Derby though.

34cc3f6001e138bbad21c217e818cf60.png

A much better starting point than with IFK Stockholm. The squad does look better too at first glance, though we're lacking in full-backs.

I was joking, but you may be their club enemy?

Neil Warnock apparently hates me, but I don`t know why?

According to the post-sacking interview, the fans basically hated me :p

I hope you made the right choice of trying to make AFK Linkoping a better team in a different group. Hampus should a better man than before.

Fingers crossed

Did you start with your normal Saachi Tactic?

I used it with IFK Stockholm, but here I've not got any full backs so started with the 3-5-2

That`s a bit worrying - I am just about to use the Saachi

ps. Aliyu seems unfortable at CF-Su

To be fair, it didn't work because the players just didn't fit the system at all. I was too stubborn to change anything.

I tend to ignore those role suitability pie charts. I feel that a CF/AF combo works best in this style and I wouldn't change CF for another role.

Very slowly reading through this as I play, and just wanted to say it's a good read and a bold challenge.

I know I could never do it, I've spent about 5 IRL years on my current FM11 save with no end in sight. I'll never understand how people play through seasons so quickly. :D

Cheers @SOStriker - glad you are enjoying it :). Got plenty of time on my hands at the moment, won't be the case when I'm back at work!

2018 Mid-Season Update

Results

This pleases me a lot :D. I thought I was doomed in Sweden, but this is a fantastic start with Linkoping. The 4-2 loss against Smedby was a baffling one; we had 4 CCC / 4 HC to their 1 CCC / 2 HC and also 13 shots on target to 4!

League Table

c873bd103e2664ef05ac0ef040fed0e6.png

Don't jinx it, but we're 5 points clear and looking good for promotion at this rate.

Players

1130c4961598690e45847dd8e473487e.png

This is much better viewing than this time last year with IFK Stockholm. Plenty of players with 7+ average rating. Here's the 3 stars of the side:

a22bed0e7b1e4879171b6f4e9c6dc9e6.png

Junus plays as our box-to-box midfielder and he just links everything together. He regularly exceeds 100 passes a game and has broke forward beyond the strikers to score some nice goals.

57922570acf5c5b11392cbd8f1c16273.png

Aliyu is our goal machine, smashing in a goal a game.

5057a7e2553fe3718bf34dd3b8325ced.png

Jonsson has provided both goals and assists from our right hand side and he's been decent defensively too.

Brutal run at IFK Stockholm, but I love the kit/badge for AFK Linkoping!  That 6-5 score doesn't surprise me all that much...I remember goals from the halfway line, the ball just being lumped in, sailing over the keeper's head, etc.

Yeah AFK Linkoping seem like a good fit - a new club though only formed in 2012 so there's history to make! There's been plenty of bonkers goals, but even in Sweden I wouldn't expect to lose a game when you're 5-0 up with just 35 minutes left

I take it none of your Swedish players will repeat Zarzo's impressive feat of staying with you from the lowest playable division to Champions League success :D

Oooh yes I should have made a bigger deal of that! Not only did he make it, he did it in style by scoring in the CL final, getting into the CL dream team and captaining the side. He always kept up with the pace, despite his less than desirable mental attributes.

You're right, it's unlikely that any of this rabble will make it all the way through, but let's not rule it out yet :brock:

We've been on a slow decline all season, hopefully next season, with similar outgoings but (again hopefully) more coming in we should be closer to breaking even.

Aliyu has been our player of the season, bagging 22 goals and 10 assists.

Jonsson has done very well in both scoring and providing from our right hand side.

Qv52qZs.png

Junus is our best player and has excelled in the box-to-box midfielder role.

kUShcYX.png

Lindstrom took a while to hit form but did really well in the 2nd half of the season, becoming our 2nd top scorer.

Beurling has been our rock in the centre of the back 3.
