It's FM24. It's Beta. So I'm taking over my beloved RKC Waalwijk and seeing what the game has to offer before going back to Cottbus for the main release.

We'll look at all aspects of the game (yes, including signing players!) and I'll try and map out my thoughts on this game, whilst learning it for the main save

Hope to see you on board when it drops!

I really enjoyed your last RKC career thread.

Looking forward to seeing how you do with them on FM24.

Goalies

59642824e4be0adf7e9ab56df10af021.png

Etienne is the #1 for me, but both keepers are much of a muchness.

Defenders

57c25c1073e03dc04dc5c8dad9d16887.png

I mean, the first choice defence kinda screams itself out here. We should be pretty set with this to begin with

Midfielders

41cd3ab97e39c1f642dd103b51799e6f.png

Hmm, somewhat lacking in the midfield at the minute, Might have to go light on the midfield to begin with.

Attackers

Heh. THIS is where we need to strengthen early on. No real backup to Kramer.

Current Coaching Staff

Assistant Manager - Anouar Hadouir
Assistant Manager - Geert-Arend Rooda
Assistant Manager - Adil Auassar
Coach - Sander van der Anker
Goalkeeping Coach - Bart Tinus
Chief Scout - Lars Lambooj

Objectively, all of these are terrible, so we need to get rid of all of them and start afresh. Also, we're in the market for a Head of Youth Development as we don't have one right now.

New Coaching Staff

Assistant Manager - Paul Okon
Fitness Coach - Georg Wallner
Head of Youth Development - Manuel Sanchis
Coach - Jizz Church
Coach - Cor Pot
Goalkeeping Coach - Bernd Dreher
Chief Scout - Sonny Bosz
Head Physio - Falk Louwers
Head of Sports Science - Martin Mrugulla

Well, a wholesale replacement of our coaching staff. It was needed however and should give us a decent base going forward. Sanchis has terrible stats, but he has a Model Citizen personality so that can transfer to the players, whilst I assess them

So, this is a tactical re-adjustment of my FM23 tactic. Using the new defensive roles, we can be more attacking and more solid in the middle. The plan is that, in attack,  Bruma will go past v.d Bujis and take up the CM spot, with Oukili joining Stevanovic in the AM strata. So that when we're in the box, it looks like this

lineup(3).png.8c7397f0d95ca5b5892469adabdfb019.png

Which, to my mind, gives us excellent defensive balance and good positioning all through the middle of the park

The Brief

My first season at the club and our board brief was to Avoid Relegation this season, with a wage budget of £28k! and a £220k transfer budget. We've had some bad injuries which has forced our hand with regards to transfers, meaning we haven't been able to be as clear and concise as we wanted to be.

a0984889acc04c3a179437cf2f38f05e.png

Certainly not a terrible pre-season and an absolutely stonking start to the new Eredivisie season for us. The NEC result had us 0-2 down after 20 mins, to to come back and win that was a great performance

The Transfers

IN

So, we got cover in our weak positions, Oukili will be our starting SV, but we didn't have any talent following it, so Drinkwater will be a decent backup for a season. Kramer's bad injury meant I was in the market for a target man and Sigporsson was available on a free. Finally, we brought the prodigal son home on loan

The Eye Test

We've had a very steady season so far. Rising quite high early on, but a poor run of form dragging us down. Hopefully we'll continue to pick up points and avoid relegation. We're also into the Quarter Finals of the KNVB Beker.

The Transfers

We picked up a talented youth goalkeeper from Nigeria and some reinforcement up front.

The Eyetest
Well, what a debut season for me as a manager on FM24! We equalled RKC's best ever finish, finishing 7th in the Eredivisie and making the Eredivisie European Playoffs. We comfortably beat FC Twente to progress to the Final and then squeaked past an AZ Alkmaar side we'd beaten twice in the season as well to qualify for the UEFA Europa Conference League! We bowed out of the KNVB TOTO Beker at the Quarter Final stage, losing 1-2 to AZ Alkmaar (side note, 4 of our five games this season ended up 2-1. Weird!). Michal Kramer lead the way with 21 goals for us, but suprisingly in second and third places were our Segundo Volante and our Libero who scored 11 and 8 goals respectively. We finished the campaign 2nd in the Goals Scored charts, but 11th in Goals Conceded. We were, if nothing else, entertaining. It's going to prove to be a monster off-season as we look to have the depth to play in Europe..

Super first season. Great to see two unique roles finishing second and third in the scoring charts.

European football well under way this year as well.

Gonna come to a screeching halt though...

The Brief

Our sophomore season at the club and our board brief was to Finish Midtable after last season's heroics, along with reaching the Second Qualifying Round of the UEFA Europa Conference League. We were also given a wage budget of £102k and a £2.8m transfer budget. We needed a lot of reinforcements for our European campaign this season, so we were active in the transfer market.

fed9d393f3a494108d826b24b4cd316c.png

A great start to the season, culminating in three straight defeats (despite the win in the last game). We need to push on from this platform however.

The Transfers

IN

A ton of new signings, all for depth, as we look to improve the squad for the coming season.

OUT

We let go who we needed to let go and managed to get two decent money sales. We also let three players out on loan

The Eye Test

We've had an excellent season so far. Outside of the Big Three, we're chugging along as best of the rest. We're also into the Quarter Finals of the KNVB Beker.

The Transfers

We picked up depth, youth and talent all in three signings, before landing a huge fish in Longstaff!

We also lost two wingers who were bitching about game time and our main keeper who had been fairly mediocre this season.
