Unfortunately it isn't in stock near me either. I will however bookmark it and keep a daily check as the battery life looks very impressive with how long it lasts and fast charging. Is Lenovo generally of better quality than HP for the overall laptop or is that not something relevant to compare between the two?

It's really hard to say - both are reputable brands and the best I can suggest is checking reviews for individual models as there will be good and bad from both.

There's this refurb model at £499 as well, says it's like new condition: https://www.laptopstation.co.uk/product/laptops/vivobook-m4/

Yeah fair enough. People do seem very happy with the lenovo it must be said.

I shall hold fire, for the sake of £30 and waiting a bit longer I'd rather wait for the brand new tbh. Cheers though, definitely found a couple of very sound offerings for the £500ish budget and for others if they are looking for similar hopefully it has helped

Hi

Can anyone recommend a laptop suitable to run fm21 for a budget of £300 - £400

I only usually run 3 leagues max so not looking for anything to expensive at the moment due to a struggle with finances but would love to get the game and play it on the most basic but playable laptop

Any advice would be appreciated

Cheers

There's very little in the brand new models available to recommend in that price range, but if you don't mind a refurb unit with 12 month warranty, this is a good deal:

https://www.laptopstation.co.uk/product/laptops/3-14-4gb/

If you can afford it, I'd recommend taking the option to upgrade the RAM to 8GB for an extra £35.  If not, 4GB RAM is still within the SI stated system requirements, you'll just need to keep things running in the background at a minimum to ensure you don't run out of memory.

Hi is it worth going for the ASUS Rog 14 with 16gb ram and Ryzen 4800 processor compared to the 8gb model Ryzen 3500 ? I want to play FM 2021 on max 3D settings with a few leagues running. Also use Microsoft office for work.

There's not enough info there.  Can you supply links to both please?

Hi guys, looking to upgrade on my Macbook Pro Early 2015 as FM and the laptop in general is starting to become very laggy. Think I'll go back to a Windows laptop this time round; was just wondering what you'd recommend for in and around £900? Primarily I'll be browsing and playing FM but would like something powerful enough to give me the option to play other games and a PS2 emulator (although I appreciate with my budget I'll not be playing Cyberpunk anywhere near full settings!). I may also be using music production programmes such as Ableton Live so imagine RAM is an important consideration?

Cheers!

https://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Processors-Benchmark-List.2436.0.html? scores them quite closely.

image.thumb.png.73c135d97b001d23dfde0299fc4f7ffa.png

As does: https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/AMD-Ryzen-7-4800H-vs-AMD-Ryzen-5-4600H/m1032976vsm1110331

I personally wouldn't pay that much extra for the Ryzen 7.  It does offer an uplift in performance, but that's a hell of a price difference and I can't say in all honesty that much of a price difference is justified.

If you don't mind having a larger model, then I'd say to go for this: https://www.box.co.uk/1L6F7EAABU-HP-Pavilion-Gaming-15-ec1009na_2958259.html

You get the extra performance of the Ryzen 7, you still get 16GB RAM and a 512GB SSD, you get a better graphics card and it over £250 less than the 14" model.

Hi Guys,

I purchased a new MacBook in 2017 and dropped a ridiculous amount of money on it, yes I know what I would have got had I gone down the Windows route, however I'm an Apple guy!

The spec for my machine is below, as far as I am aware (not much of an expert on these things) they are still quite decent specs to play FM on? However I tend to have to set my graphics quality as 'low' and even then the fans get quite loud during highlights (using 2d classic) and when holidaying.

Are these specs now dated? Is the graphics card not that great?

Your advice would be much appreciated, thanks for taking the time to read this!

Processor is the I7-6700HQ

Should still be ok.

Graphics card is integrated and a season or two behind current models. But should be ok on low to mid range graphics settings.

Model: HP Pavilion 15

CPU Model: AMD Ryzen 5 3500U

CPU Base Frequency: 2,1GHz

I did a Benchmark test in the other thread; Benchmark A was 10 min 56 sec. pfff

Can anyone give me some advice.

Is it time for a new/better laptop?

I have this one since Feb-2020

Only when i starting Football Manager with the only the loading screen, my GPU goes to 75% on only Football Manager. How can that be possible? I did a windows reinstall, updated my Radeon to the latest update and have no other apps open.

Also run Football manager 'clean' without any additional graphics or editor data files. Can please somebody give me some advise? :)

I wouldn't be concerned by anything going to 75% on task manager when launching FM.  If the game and computer itself are running smoothly, then you have nothing to worry about.

What's your budget?  I can't really recommend anything if I don't know what's realistically affordable for you.

Awesome stuff!

Can vouch for their warranty as well on the refurbs.  I had one laptop develop a strange issue after around 2 months and they replaced it for me for an equivalent spec laptop.

Hi guys was wondering if anyone could recommend the best laptop I could get for £600?

Would prefer an SSD over a old school hard drive.

Not clued up on laptops at all but it's only going to be used for football manager and Web browsing so no hardcore games or anything to strenuous.

Many thanks

My budget is around £1200-£1300 if weight wasn’t an issue I would have my pick but I need something as light as possible for travelling. My old laptop is barely keeping up these days. Cheers

I'd consider it to be overpriced to be honest.

If you don't mind a bit of a wait, you can get the same spec for over £200 less.  Plus, no manufacturer bloatware: https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/saved-configurations/optimusXI-pro-17/Pe8RYrS9tt/

Or this one is also the same spec at £100 less: https://www.box.co.uk/81Y8003CUK-Lenovo-Legion-5i-17_2943294.html

Hi guys, thanks so much for this thread, so helpful.

My budget is around the £500-£600 mark and I will really only use it to play FM and Minecraft. My current laptop (which just died) was the Dell XPS13 9365 and could run both games adequately, albeit far from amazing.

Reading through your previous recommendations I had an eye on the DELL Inspiron 15 3000 (£500) and the ASUS VivoBook M431IA (£550) which both look like a significant improvement on the XPS. For a bit more than my budget i also saw you recommended the Medion Crawler E10 which looks incredible but might be a bit overkill for my needs?

Aside from the differences in display size and weight, do you have any thoughts or preferences on the above please? Or have i missed any bargains somewhere else?! I'd stretch a bit over the budget if it meant I'd get something really great that would last a bit longer.

Cheers

The second one doesn't actually give the full processor model so I can't make a proper comparison.  So, if you could provide links to the store listings, that would be very helpful.

I purchased a laptop from Box just under three months ago and have recently had issues with it becoming completely unresponsive. The only programmes I have installed are FM21, Steam and Spotify so it really shouldn't be having issues already. All updates are also installed. Has anyone had any experience with Box.co.uk in relation to returns/repairs/exchanges? I'm a little worried as the laptop I purchased is no longer listed on their website.

If you're only playing FM and Minecraft in terms of games, then this should do the job: https://www.box.co.uk/M413IA-EB573T-ASUS-Vivobook-14-M413IA-EB573T_2955297.html

This shows benchmarking of Minecraft with the Ryzen 5 4500U with the integrated graphics and it seems to do a grand job of it (not my channel for full disclosure, just one I found when searching for how Minecraft would run on that hardware):

If you have any issues, just contact them.  If it was purchased as a new machine three months ago, you'll still be under warranty.

I would also suggest running a virus scan in the meantime just to make sure your laptop hasn't had a malware infection.

What computer did you buy?

What is your computer/specs etc.

Can you hit the Windows key and type in DXDIAG run that program, save the text file and post it here.

Further to this - download Malwarebytes (the free version) and run a scan.

Also try CCleaner. You can find tutorials online for both.

Hi guys, I would like to change my graphic card to have 5 stars on 3d graphics, what graphic card would you recommend for my desktop?

We'd really need to know what your current setup is - including the power supply and case.

In theory, any current graphics card will do the job but what will suit your system depends on what can fit in your case, what sort of spare capacity you have with your power supply, all that kind of thing.
