I'm not as active on here or on the game anymore, just don't get the time. But I think it's almost time for a new pc, and intrigued by the size of a mini pc. I only play FM Touch 2020, and watch in 2d. Would one of these Beelink mIni PC's be fine to play on please? https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09V81NML4?ref_=cm_sw_r_apan_dp_WNCX5VYXB7M0Q9H1RSVN

I tend to only run the 4 main English and Scottish leagues too, but as big a database as I can.

Or, on the other hand would you suggest a laptop? My budget would be a maximum of £350. I would want an HDMI connection so I could hook it up to my monitor, also a minimum of 256 GB SSD. One further basic question, if I bought a laptop to run FMT20, is it possible to turn off the screen and still play through the attached monitor?

Help greatly appreciated 👍

I'd avoid that.  It appears to be an Inter Celeron CPU, which tend to be weak CPU's.

For that sort of budget, I'd go for this: https://www.currys.co.uk/products/acer-aspire-3-15.6-laptop-intel-core-i5-256-gb-ssd-silver-10239515.html

I'm not sure if you can turn of the integrated display if using the HDMI output.

i feel like this could be a good deal. would it be able to run 3d gameplay and 10-15 leagues ?

As per the OP, we can't comment on how many leagues any specific PC will run as how fast a speed is acceptable is very subjective.

I wouldn't be particularly confident that this one would run 3D very well.  For FM23, it'll likely run 3D at lower settings, but I'd be surprised if it was for anything higher than low 3D settings.  It also only has 4GB RAM which isn't really ideal.  To be honest, you probably need to increase the budget a bit more than this to get a decent experience.

@pugdogmot for a mini PC you might consider https://store.minisforum.uk/collections/amd-®-ryzen-®/products/minisforum-um590?variant=44003693265174 (the Ryzen 5 model with RAM and storage is £299

I was struggling to find good mini PCs at that sort of price. This wasn't a site I was aware of so it's good to have another one to refer to!

Hello, i've been browsing this thread for the last week trying to find info on updating my computer as mine went bust recently (lasted 17 years though) & has left me in a dilemma. I'm unsure if it's better to get a laptop or computer overall as I mostly see laptops suggested in here. I use it mostly for FM, streaming & general use. I have a £800 budget but am only able to get it off of ao.com & am wondering the best option be it PC or Laptop. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I said, i've been monitoring this thread but am awful at computer specs & feel i'd be monitoring the thread for another month if I don't just ask.

Thank you :)

It really depends on what you want. It's mostly laptops recommended as it's mostly laptops that people are interested in.

I'd be fine with either., obviously used to a tower but I see the positives in a laptop. I'd assume if most are interested in laptops, the pros outweigh the cons. I have a desk setup for it anyway & would have the laptop screen + another if I got one. Just unsure on what's the best option on ao.com after using the same thing for so long, i've fallen behind on what's needed/good.

That looks brilliant! Double RAM and Storage to what I requested and for a similar budget! Some good options these days. Thank you for this.

Been looking since my first post & have narrowed it down to four choices (has to be this site).

https://ao.com/product/um425qaki113w-asus-zenbook-14-laptop-grey-97138-251.aspx

https://ao.com/product/fx506hfhn001w-asus-tuf-gaming-f15-laptop-black-96368-251.aspx

https://ao.com/product/fx506hehn011w-asus-tuf-gaming-f15-laptop-black-95881-251.aspx

https://ao.com/product/82sb000cuk-lenovo-ideapad-gaming-3-laptop-grey-97024-251.aspx
Any advice on if there's one standout winner or which is best? Thrown a cheaper one in just incase it's not always worth the extra price. Mostly used for FM or streaming/Youtube & general internet use.

Thanks in advance.

How well do you think this laptop would perform?

ThinkPad T14s Gen 2

Intel® Core™ i5-1145G7 vPro®-processor - 2.60 GHz up to 4.40 GHz

16 GB LPDDR4X - 4 266 MHz

1TB SSD

Iris Xe graphics

It costs about 1200€ which is the major fallback, im located in Sweden but if someone could find me an alternative for cheaper I would really appreciate it. The main use is for university which is why im trying to avoid "gaming" laptops since often times they can bu clunky and annoying to carry around. The second use is gaming mainly FM which is why im posting here

Thanks in advance.

The first three will probably perform similarly (as far as the CPU anyway) as they're all around 2 years old. The bottom one is from last year and should be a bit faster. Any of them will run FM well.

16 GB RAM, 2 × 8 GB, LPDDR5 4 800 MHz

1TB SSD

16,0-inch screen with FHD+ (1 920 × 1 200)

If you're worried about battery the first one should last longer.

I'd avoid that.  Celeron CPU's are terrible - game will be slow and 3D won't be great either.  And will likely especially struggle by the time FM25 comes around.

A couple of questions.  Is that your max budget (and if not, what is your budget?), and are you happy to look at refurbished ones?

Same thing, again it's a Celeron so I'd avoid it.  If you're happy to go up to £400 like this one, there will be much better options.  Bear with me and I'll see what else is around.

If you find any issues, this is an alternative: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0C69RWLZQ/ref=twister_B0CBG6C1BW?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Should offer broadly similar performance, but is a bit more money.

For FM23, yes it is.  And will likely be for FM24 as well.

FM25 with the changes that are coming in for that is much harder to call.

Hello guys,

As I'm complete noob regarding this subject, could you please recommend a laptop that's not too big nor expensive? It would be really just to play FM basically and nothing else, and that I can take it with me outside.

Thanks in advance

I'd need to know what sort of budget you have.  £400 could be expensive to some, where as for some that would be cheap, so I have no idea how much you want to spend.

Thanks. Yeah sorry. 400 seems about right. Do you think I could get something nice in that price range? Maybe 350/400

For those considering a cheap laptop, Linus Tech Tips, a well known tech Youtube channel, recently made a video which may be relevant to you. It is an extreme example but I think illustrates quite well why you should be avoiding laptops on the budget end of the scale. They also make a helpful recommendation. Skip to the end if their cheesy shenanigans are too much.

Hi guys, not played FM on the laptop or PC for a good 6 or 7 year and just been playing the touch version on the IPad. Didn’t have the time to play for a while. Anyway looking to get a laptop and it will just be for playing FM and general use. For my FM saves I wont be running a mass amount of leagues and nations will probably be all the English and Scottish plus maybe one more country. Would like to be able to watch the 3D fairly well if that’s possible in my budget.

had a look at that in curry’s but I’ve honestly no idea been out the loop that long. If yous could point me to anything else on curry’s that would be great roundabout that budget give it take a £100. Cheers

Definitely don't buy that as it's a Chromebook, which won't run FM as FM isn't compatible with ChromeOS.

I'd avoid that these days as it's quite an old processor in that.  If you tell me your country and ideally some websites that you'd use there as well as the budget in your currency and I'll take a look for you.
