The one I've linked would be quite a bit faster generally, and for FM, than the ones at Amazon.

Hi all

Just a quick one, looking for a recommendation please if at all possible. I bought a gaming laptop from PC Specialist about 2.5 years ago and to cut a long story short its just shat itself and Im on the look for a new one. Whats bothered me the most is I moved back to my 6 year old Dell Inspiron and I cant see any speed difference so by the looks I bought a powerful laptop and spent too much on areas I didnt need so thats why I really want to nail the next one. I know the basics of whats needed but I feel FM players would be experts

Im looking for a laptop that is mainly for FM (I also need it for some basic graphic work, photoshop, iIlustrator etc I'll also be telling the wife thats the main use but its not, I want 30 leagues open, I want 200,000 players, I want it all and not sluggish. I'm playing the game since CM93 so its an important part of my life. Budget would be €1,500 but I could stretch that if I could buy the same laptop within the EU (customs free). I also have no issue buying off PC Specialist again or I dont have an issue buying from Currys or somewhere either but I just want to do it right this time. Any help is greatly appreicated

So priority of needs

1. FM

2. FM

3. FM

4. Adobe products

5. Some podcasting/Streaming on Twitch/video editing (Very basic)

This is the basics of what I had

15.6" NTSC LED

Intel® Core™ i7 Eight Core Processor 10875H (2.3GHz, 5.1GHz Turbo)

32GB Corsair 2666MHz SODIMM DDR4 (2 x 16GB) (IM ASSUMING 32gb ramis overkil?)

NVIDIA® GeForce® RTX 2060 - 6.0GB GDDR6 Video RAM - DirectX® 12.1

1TB SAMSUNG 970 EVO PLUS M.2, PCIe NVMe (up to 3500MB/R, 3300MB/W)

__________________________________________________________________________

This is what I was looking at, is this overkill? Is there much of a difference between 1 x16gb ram and 2 x 8gb?

https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/notebooks/ionico-16/  (WIth 16gb Ram)

or

cheaper option

https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/notebooks/elimina-pro-16-M/ (WIth 16gb ram)

Am I missing any decent deals out there at the minute?

The cheaper option is definitely still very good for what you're wanting, but the first one is definitely the better of the two.

I'd increase the RAM to 16GB using a 2x 8GB formation rather than 1x 16GB.  There can be performance advantages to using the 2x RAM stick setup rather than one.

Thanks. Can you recommend laptop from Amazon as I have a 250 voucher?

Will do.  I'll need to look tonight when I'm back from work as to be frank the search function on Amazon is terrible when it comes to looking at computers so it takes a bit longer to find what I'm looking for.  Does your £1k budget include the voucher, or are you happy to spend £1k in cash plus the voucher?

I’m happy to spend up to £1000 on a laptop. And use the voucher to take 250 of the total spend. My priorities are FM and streaming movies and series. With potential to play some new games that aren’t on PS5.

I would go for the one I linked as it has a better CPU, better Graphics Card and twice the RAM.

These are equivalent Intel processors (11th gen was out at the same time as Ryzen 5000) and the extra RAM will give you a much better experience. If you look a bit more you might even find an 11th gen i5 within your budget

The most likely issue will be graphics since the iGPU is quite weak (as is the one in the Ryzen). I think though if you lower some of the graphics settings it should be fine

Great work and advice guys. I found my way back to this site looking for advice for upgrading my Laptop for FM use; only to discover a huge upgrade likely required to play FM25 next year so will hang fire until specs released.

The biggest unknown currently will be the graphics card but I imagine any game using "Unity" would provide a good indicator?

Guess you guys will be kept pretty busy when announcement made!

Yeah, the specs required for FM25 are currently unknown.  Even the game using Unity isn't really a massive help, as games such as Untitled Goose Game, Cities Skylines, Cuphead and Phasmophobia are all built in Unity and all have vastly different system requirements from each other.

However, Miles has confirmed on Twitter that the 2D option will remain, so that will likely still make the game playable for people with weaker GPUs.

To add to what @kevhamster said, my best guess would be that the minimum specs won't be higher than FIFA, ie Processor: Intel Core i5 6600k or AMD Ryzen 5 1600 and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 570. Current gen i5's or Ryzen 5's have integrated GPUs of not dissimilar power so they will probably be fine too.

Hi, new to FM and this site! Any chance i could get feedback is this viable, budget is really 450€ at max. Just looking to stream sports and play FM with not a huge amount of leagues. Thanks in advance!

I'd avoid that one to be honest - Pentium Gold CPU's aren't great.

This one looks good if it's on Windows, but I can't tell that from the listing: https://www.smartech.ee/en/products/laptops/notebooklenovoideapad3-15itl6cpu-i5-1135g72400-mhz1561920x1080ram-8gbddr43200-mhzssd-512gbintel-iris-xe-graphicsintegratedenggrey165-kg82h8019qpb

It appears you're in Estonia, so if you can provide some other websites you'd use to look for laptops, I'll have a look at what else is around.

That is quite a weak processor, and Windows S is a bit of a pain. Try to find a laptop that doesn't come with Windows S if you can - apart from the hassle it is usually shipped with very low power laptops. I reckon for your budget there should be a 11th gen i3 or Ryzen 3 5000 laptop around somewhere.

They have a Ryzen 3 Lenovo Ideapad within your budget which would be better. It still comes with WIndows S (you'll have to faf with it to get Steam installed) but it will be significantly more powerful than the Pentium and it has a more capable integrated GPU too. If you can stretch your budget to 550 they have the same thing but with a Ryzen 5, which will be quite a bit faster again.

Thanks! Is the faf thing a pain to do, since im not that tech savvy? If not, this might be a great option for me.

I generally treat it as a red flag that the laptop is entry level and will have limited functionality. The Ryzen 3 is low end, but not entry level like the Pentium laptop you were looking at, so I'm a bit surprised it ships with Windows S

It's fine for now, but may not be so good when FM25 comes around if you're thinking longer term.  If so, this would probably be a better bet: https://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/ct/laptops-and-netbooks/laptops/gaming?sortOrder=1

That would still have the same issues post FM25, as SI have stated it will need more power in the graphics department.

It'll likely be the case that a dedicated graphics card is needed to play the game at 3D.  Something like this: https://www.currys.co.uk/products/asus-tuf-gaming-f15-15.6-gaming-laptop-intel-core-i5-rtx-2050-512-gb-ssd-10246722.html

Is there a newer laptop in that price range £500-£600 that you would recommend

Well new these would have been closer to £800 and that's what I'd expect current gen entry level gaming laptops (which is what this is) to cost. A current gen ultrabook Ryzen 5 or i5 (they have a U suffix on the product code for the processor) might give similar CPU performance and cost around that price, but I don't think the GPU performance would be the same because they would use an integrated GPU. Then again, ultrabooks have a number of benefits over gaming laptops.

While I think a gaming laptop is going to be better for FM25, if you can wait I'd really suggest doing so until we know more about the recommended specs. I think a 1650 will be ok, but it may be that something more powerful is called for in which case you would be very disappointed. It might also be the case that the iGPU on an ultrabook will be sufficient.

Hi all

looking at building a new desktop mainly for FM. Would ideally like to run all leagues with the game still being able to process at a good speed.

needing help to know what specs I really need and what’s maybe not so vital, budget is about £1500 but willing to stretch beyond that should some additions make a real difference. I’ve been looking on pcspecialist but I don’t have a great deal of knowledge as to what the build should look like.

any help at all would be greatly appreciated

Anyone got experience yet with the new Lenovo LOQ-laptops? It's their new secondary range besides Legion ; only reviews I've found are generally very positive. Going to buy a new laptop and basically this one has a ridicolous setup for the money:

  • Lenovo LOQ 15APH8 82XT009BMH
  • Ryzen 7 7840HS
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060
  • 16 GB RAM
  • 8 GB VRAM
  • 512 GB SSD

Using my laptop for games (mainly FM, MTG Arena, F1 Manager, Pro Cycling Manager) and some light Photoshop from time to time ; I think the CPU is very good for the money and the GPU is more than I need, but that's OK.

Looking at Legion or RoG-laptops - as they are the premium gaming brand - they are more expensive but have CPUs and GPUs which are not as good as this one.

Any thoughts? Am I missing something, or is this really a good deal?

Don't expect the same build quality and other features as the Legion range, but on the face of it that looks decent. If you don't need the GPU I believe it could be disabled to extend battery life - the iGPU in the Ryzen 7 is pretty powerful anyway. Then turn it back on for FM25

Hi all.

Been using a Dell G3 15 (8GB, 256 SSD, i5-8300H) laptop to play FM for around 5 years now. Unfortunately, the performance isn't what it used to be and I'm getting constant crashes and blue screen of death (Kernel Security Check Failure), so I think it's time to get a new one.

Budget wise, I'm willing to spend up to around £700, as long as it can last me around the same time as this one has. The other main uses I have for it are watching things (YouTube, Netflix) and social media. I saw an article which seems to suggest that the below is the best choice. Would you agree, and is it worth the money? Or could I save some money for one that would last me around 5 years?

For that budget I'd be looking at least last gen (Intel 12th, AMD 6000). If you can stretch your budget slightly you could get an i7, such as:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-12UB-027UK-i7-12700H-GeForce-Windows/dp/B09R25RPP2/ref=sr_1_30?keywords=gaming+laptop&qid=1691860582&refinements=p_36%3A-80000%2Cp_n_feature_twenty-four_browse-bin%3A27399086031&rnid=27399084031&s=computers&sr=1-30

or for within your budget:
