Do you think CL group stage qualification could be the catalyst needed to get that elusive Youth Recruitment to rise?

If I'm honest, I think it'll probably take even more than that! I do think that CL group stage qualification would be a huge step towards it though, because it would give a major shot in the arm to our finances, coefficient and reputation, and really set things up nicely for us.

My laptop's just crashed, and we've gone back to a couple of weeks before that intake happened. Ignore that post, because those players no longer exist

Either a reprieve and a golden generation.....or a shower of s£%t

I wouldn't call it a golden generation, but it is better...

Some decent technicals there...

He threw an elbow 15 minutes after coming on against Celtic, and that's him out of both Plzen legs. He's only 18, but he's probably the player I'm most excited about in the last decade, considering how quickly he's grown. This was him on intake day:

This is him now:

He's going to be phenomenal - if he can keep his damn anger in check. No more elbows, Daniele.

Did you ever had problems with board accepting transfer offers behind your back? I just lost my best DR in my own youth challenge :(

I did on FM 16, but none so far this year. That's brutal :( Just got to try and get enough money in the bank saved up so that stops happening.

That's the first 5* PA player we've had in god knows how long. I'm excited - I just pray that our assistant is right about his potentiak.

He looks decent.

Nice, a good intake after years of mediocrity.

Interestimg times ahead I feel

Cheers guys! I think we're in a decent place right now. Would anyone be interested in a squad review? I feel like we've been speeding through seasons so quickly lately, people might not actually know how we're shaping up at different positions.

Season Review!

League

We were 2-0 down in the 70th minute of the league final, and my laptop was going out the window. Instead, we scored three times to steal back the league title. My blood pressure is back to normal.

Cup

Meh.

Schedule

Squad

Other Teams: Domagnano lost 5-2 to Limassol from Cyprus and Libertas lost 3-1 to Linfield but Fiorentino beat Sutjeska from Montenegro 1-0 before losing 5-2 to Brondby in the Second Qualifying Round.

Next yearGroups.

Yeah, a squad review would be nice. Murracinni looks quality by the way.

Squad Review!

Goalkeepers:

Bonini is the #1 and has been for 12 years, with 267 starts under his belt for us. He's pretty good, but he won't be the starter for much longer, because...

d40b09fb1b5bd5f01edf17f10125a9b9.png

Our #2 GK and the best prospect we have at the club right now, Muraccini is going to be ready to take over the starting spot in a year or two, and he'll be given the starting job in domestic football starting from next season to help him develop.

Fullbacks!

8980208ec15d0fcbd2bd863f7a4e15b5.png

Starting RB and the best FB at the club, we didn't bother to tag him when he came through his intake as he was only a 3.5* PA player. He managed to hit that potential though, and he does a very solid job for us.

453efda686f25d951406b1ea92f0206b.png

Our starting LB, Selva came in with a lot of hype, but unfortunately failed to develop even a little bit. He's really just a stopgap at this point until we can replace him with somebody better.

5544615c55b24ec096c6b6ae0ada77d7.png

Another who came in with a lot of hype but completely failed to meet expectations. He was a 4.5* PA prospect when he came through (he actually came through the year after Zafferani did) but absolutely flopped. He's annoyed we don't play him, and he's leaving on a free this summer. Shame.

59badda34e346bbe07e585f077be89a9.png

The only competent backup FB we have left, Zavoli can do a job for us when needed.

6d131cf133846d298062130f87c5128a.png

A wildcard. Lo Tito still doesn't fit a position in our formation, but I'll sub him on as a WB if we're chasing a goal as a more attacking option.

Centrebacks!

bb759330cff2808a74278678e980454b.png

Our first choice CB, Gagliardi has played 349 games for the club, but at 32 we won't be able to rely on him much longer.

11af73efbae903aadcd8a58c2dfc374b.png

These two came through in the same year and have been inseparable at the back since, with Gobbi having played just two less games than Gagliardi. He's also 32, though, and he's getting phased out the team.

c903ea1e2755fa28bf851a1e99029465.png

A promising young CB, Gasperoni came in very small but has grown enough to be considered a viable CB option. If he can develop a bit more, we'll be set at one of the two CB positions.

1af1d49c43a511e5ea3bf731217039ba.png

Probably the fourth option right now. We are not a squad with a lot of depth.

Centre Midfielders!

8f303f3bf7090724fbb5e1145f1dd7d4.png

The best player the club's ever had. Rondelli started as just a 3* PA player and an afterthought, but it was soon pretty clear that he was better than our assistant had given him credit for. He's now 31, and we're going to be so much weaker when he declines.

17900bd9c1939564b5209e89dea9d4d6.png

Rondelli's current partner in midfield, and another who was just a 3* PA player when he originally came through.

8ca21fb1d385155939d556e1afca28c2.png

Valentini has been superb for us at both CM and AM over the years, smashing in longshots and free kicks for fun, but he's very much at the tail end of his career now.

f90fd27aaae06398059d6b6582dc8fa8.png

The best prospect we have at CM right now. We'll see.

Strikers!

51037cd7b01b58b6bf391f4afc48b10e.png

Lombardi absolutely exploded out of nowhere, going from a 3.5* PA prospect who my reaction to was 'meh' to a 4* ST, one of the most talented ones we've ever had at the club. I pray that he's got a little more room to grow, but even if not, he's bloody class. AFAIK, we've never had a player before with a 17 in any technical stat, ever.

9b80fcaa0671fdb3d7054665fda13d4a.png

The youth have taken over, because Zafferani is another 3.5* PA player who I thought 'meh' that's turned into a viable starter. He's got room to grow - I hope - and he's pretty decent right now.

3bbf56396080b1ec5769e90580d40de5.png

That means the old school have been phased out. I wasn't sure about Renzi when he came through because he had some major weaknesses, but he developed incredibly and went on to be one of the best strikers we've had yet. 256 games, 197 goals in the league and a lot of big ones in Europe, but his career is coming towards the end.

30f43fe617aba5d581092afcc74d23dc.png

Moretti came through a year later, and my only response was 'ffs, too many strikers.' 219 goals in 319 league games? He's done okay.

ce02c515237610929a17628ded89a409.pngHe's a decent backup to have around.

As a closing point to that review, I'd like to point out how incredible our 2056 intake was:

72a9ab7452c6167e496dc7093187b795.png

That's the best player ever at the club in Mattia Rondelli, a CB partnership that's been potentially our best ever in Gobbi and Gagliardi, and one of our best ever strikers in Renzi, all in one intake. That's 1283 league games combined from one intake (plus a couple of the other players may have played one or two). That's incredible.

I applaud your patience. I would have taken the keyboard outside and pulled its keys off one by one while keeping the computer turned on just so it constantly felt the pain...sorry drifted a bit there...champions league group stage is on the horizon after those last couple of intakes.
