Race 8 - March

After a 2nd place finish last time out Brendan Petersen started this month on pole position, he and Mark Webber both played in a 2-1 win over Celtic for Hearts in the only action of Sunday. Monday night saw Dundee Utd beat St Mirren 3-0. Elliot Druce, Nicky and Lewis Hamilton all played meaning we went into the first corner 5 abreast. Hearts were back in action again on Wednesday and although Brendan Petersen played again he was outshone by Marky Mark who scored for Aberdeen in a 2-2 draw.

The weekend came around but SPL action was limited, Mark Webber played and was booked in a 1-0 win over Dundee Utd and that was that. In League 1 Bob Mcbob played in a 2-3 win over Oldham. In the Scottish Cup Nicky and Lewis Hamilton hogged all the limelight for St Mirren, both of them grabbed a goal in a 2-0 win over Dundee. Andrew Billen played for Hibs as they lost to Rangers 3-1, the scoring was started by a man who has really found some form of late, Haowan headed in on the stroke of half time. Mikael Schøler got Sunday off to a bang with a goal to put Falkirk into the next round against Brendan Petersen and Hearts. Mike Billcliffe carried on the scoring as he slotted home in a 1-1 draw with Inverness CT.

Tuesday meant a return of SPL action, , Haowan and Jack Villeneuve were part of a 3-1 win for Rangers. On Wednesday Mike Billcliffe played as his side went out 1-2 in a replay of the weekends game and there was a game for Alex Rodgers as Wolves lost 2-0 in the Championship. Bob Mcbob played as Forrest won 3-1. Back in the SPL Marky Mark, Arthur White and Mikael Schøler all played as Falkirk ran out 2-0 winners, in the final game of the day Hibs played Hearts and it looked destined to end 1-1 until Brendan Petersen curled one into the top corner from 18 yards to take all 3 points for the away team and take the lead of the race.

Saturday was a boring day as far as the drivers went, no one managed a goal even though Bob Mcbob, Mike Billcliffe, Marky Mark, Haowan, Mark Cator, Lewis Hamilton and Nicky all played. Sunday saw the Scottish League Cup final between Celtic and Hearts take place, Mark Webber picked up a winners medal as his side took home the trophy with a 2-0 win. Brendan Petersen was on the losing side and although his form has been good enough to take him to the front of this race his manager clearly expects better from the Aussie as he publicly criticised his recent form despite 13 goals in 24 games this season. Monday night was hardly any better than the weekend, Andrew Billen and Elliot Druce played but neither could score in a 1-1 draw that rounded of a thoroughly boring weekend of action.

Falkirk started the midweek action with a shock win over league leaders Celtic, Mikael Schøler and Mark Webber were both involved in the game that ended 2-1. Marky Mark played in a disappointing 5-1 loss to Inverness CT, Mike Billcliffe and Mark Cator were involved in a 0-1 win for Kilmarnock. Jack Villeneuve suffered the backlash of Jim Jefferies comments at the weekend, the Hearts manager got just the reaction he was looking for from Brendan Petersen as he smashed 2 goals past Gretna in a 2-0 win.

Going into the last lap it looked like Brendan Petersen had the race in the bag and all but an amazing performance from somebody was taking the 10 points.

Any chance Lewis Hamilton had of producing that performance was ruined as he spun off spectacularly putting him out for a month, his replacement, Nicky couldn’t produce the performance required either in a 2-1 loss to Celtic. Elliot Druce and Jack Villeneuve played in an uneventful 0-1 for Dundee Utd while Mike Billcliffe played as Kilmarnock lost to Inverness CT. Mark Cator picked up a booking as his Morton side went down 1-2 to Hearts. Bob Mcbob was the only other player to pick up points as he played in a 0-0 draw. Sunday saw no such performance as was required either, Haowan played in a 0-1 win for Rangers over Aberdeen and Fuzzy Lightning made an appearance in a 2-1 win for Hull. If there was one player capable of pulling out the sort of performance needed to knock Petersen off top spot it’s Loic Flamilson, the Frenchman is often forgotten until the end of the month comes around. By his own high standards he will be disappointed with his efforts, 6 games for Levski and not a single goal was nowhere near enough to overtake Brendan Petersen and the Australian was able to comfortably claim his first ever race win.

Driver of the Day - A clear winner in Brendan Petersen who won his first race with plenty of breathing space, criticised by his manager the Aussie came back with a vengeance and the two goals he scored following those comments were enough to win him the race. The rest of the field was very tightly packed as is evidenced by the several drivers sharing 4th spot.

Race 9 - April

Two races left in the season and it looks like Loic Flamilson has all but won his second drivers championship, 18 points ahead of his nearest competitor only Elliot Druce can catch the impressive Frenchman and even he needs Loic to finish outside the points in both races. The constructors title is a little closer and if both Andrew Billen and Mark Cator can get in the points this race it could make for an interesting final race of the season.

The 1st day of the month meant one game in the SPL, Nicky and Mikael Schøler were neck in neck off the grid as both played in a 1-2 win for Falkirk. Bob Mcbob came from a long way back to contest the lead in the early goings as he played for Nottingham Forrest in 1-0 loss to Burnley.

Bob Mcbob played again at the weekend in a 1-1 draw for Forrest and the rest of the action took place in the SPL. Action may be a bit misleading though as all none of our players found the net, Elliot Druce was involved in a 0-1 loss to Morton, Mikael Schøler and Jack Villeneuve played in a 1-0 for the former. Brendan Petersen and Marky Mark went head to head with Hearts running out 2-0 winners. Haowan got the better of Mike Billclife as Rangers won 3-1 and Nicky played in St Mirrens heavy 1-4 loss to Hibs.

A week later and it was a tale of joy for Moony as he started his first game of the season for Inverness CT against St Mirren in the Scottish Cup, unfortunately it only lasted 9 minutes as he ploughed into the back of Nicky, both received facial injuries keeping them out for anything from a week to a month. Injuries aside Moony will be the happier of the two as his side progresses 1-0. Back in the SPL Andrew Billen scored the final of Hibernians 4 goals as they won away at Dundee Utd, Elliot Druce played but couldn’t find the net despite his team managing a consolation goal, Druce was in desperate need of a goal to have any chance of catching Flamilson but the pressure seemed to be getting to him. Marky Mark has only tasted victory once so far in his career but he took a good step towards taking it again, two goals in the space of four minutes put his side 2-1 up against Jack Villeneuve and Gretna although it was to be Villeneuve who had the last laugh as his side came back to win 2-3 though a booking may have put a sour note on it for him. Alex Rodgers played 30 minutes in a 2-0 loss to West Ham that didn’t help Wolves play-off aspirations but Bob Mcbob's 2 goals took Nottingham Forrest to within a point of a League 1 play-off place as they won away at Crewe.

Anybody following Mikael Schølers career will tell you he’s far from a prolific striker, despite that he plays week in week out for Falkirk and will now be playing for them in the Scottish Cup final. He and Arthur White played in a 1-0 win over Rangers who couldn’t be saved even by the late introduction of Haowan.

Wednesday meant a return to SPL action, Mark Cator played in a 1-1 draw with St Mirren and Mike Billcliffe played in a 2-1 loss to Inverness CT. Mikael Schøler and Arthur White may have been celebrating at the weekend but they were brought back down to earth when they went to Celtic, 2-0 was the final score with the second goal coming from man of the match, Mark Webber. Back in England Alex Rodgers played in a 2-2 draw for Wolves and Nottingham Forrest once again had Bob Mcbob to thank for 2 goals and a 1-2 victory. With 4 goals in as many game this month the young Englishman has put himself in prime position to surprise everyone and win this race.

What would turn out to be a good weekend for the drivers started in unusual fashion, a goal from Mikael Schøler shocked everybody including Brendan Petersen as Hearts lost to that single strike. Another shock for the day was the introduction of James Knowles into Aberdeen’s 0-0 draw with Inverness CT, the youngster has been living in the shadow of team mate Marky Mark and he failed to impress when he replaced him on 70 minutes. St Mirren are without injured duo Nicky and Lewis Hamilton but Kilmarnock and Mike Billcliffe couldn’t take advantage in a 1-1 draw. Haowan and Elliot Druce played in a 2-0 win for Rangers and then things really picked up. Jack Villeneuve tucked home a rebound on 6 minutes to put Gretna 0-1 up at Morton and they went in at half time 1-3 up. On 57 minutes a neat one-two and some good movement from Mark Cator gave him more room than he needed in the box and he made it 2-3 which is how it ended. In the final game of the day Hibs played Celtic, Mark Webber was in the Celtic team but had little affect on the match. His counterpart however was very influential, Andrew Billen struck from 25 yards to put Hibs 2-1 up and then in the 88th minute his powerful strike across the keeper found the net to make it 3-2. It looked to have won the game for Hibs before Celtic came back to make it 3-3 in the final game in Scotland for the month.

So the only matches left to be played were in England, Fuzzy Lightning played and was booked in a loss for Hull while Alex Rodgers Rodgers played in a 2-1 loss for Wolves. Bob Mcbob couldn’t find the same form as last time out as he failed to score in Forrest’s 2-1 win over the MK Dons but he had still done enough to become the 10th different winner of an FMGP. Or had he? A shout from a Loic Flamilson fan had everyone in a frenzy, nobody knew whether it was a cry of anguish or joy. The news began to filter through the crowd and a loud cheer went up from the Team 2 pit lane as they realised they’d guided Bob Mcbob to his first ever podium position and race win and only Team 2's second ever race win. Flamilson's fans were disappointed that their man had only played once and failed to find the net but ecstatic that he had done enough in the previous races to win back to back drivers championships. All they could ask for now was for Team 5 to do the business next month and complete back to back doubles.

Driver of the Day - No doubts about it again this month, Bob Mcbob became the 10th different race winner and deservedly so. A couple of braces won it in the end for the Celtic youngster and we once again see the benefits of a loan move.

Hm I wonder if I am the one with the most matches and least scored goals icon_smile.gif

But nice to see I score once in a while.

What about the standings in the league? It seems to me that Falkirk is doing quite well icon_smile.gif

Great to see this up and running again. Brendan Petersen doing incredibly in Race 8 to take his first win of the season that was topped off my a Driver Of The Day award. The that was followed up by a horrible race where I missed out on the places all together. Hopefully Hearts can lift their game and get me some goals.

Race 10 - May

With the Drivers Championship out of the way May became all about the Constructors title, Team 5 and Team 7 were set to go head to head.

Marky Mark and Mark Cator started the day with a boring 1-0 win for Aberdeen, Elliot Druce’s disappointment at losing out on the drivers championship was added to as he was on the end of a 0-4 thrashing by Celtic. Jack Villeneuve and Mike Billcliffe played in a Gretna win while Andrew Billen and Brendan Petersen were involved in Hearts 4-0 victory. Mikael Schøler played in a 2-0 loss while Nicky played in a 2-0 over Inverness CT. Bob Mcbob played for Nottingham Forrest as they assured themselves a place in the play-offs.

A week later and it was play-off time for Wolves, Alex Rodgers came on as a sub in a 2-1 win for Wolves as they took a huge step towards the Premiership. In the SPL Mikael Schøler was on the losing end of an Elliot Druce goal in a 0-1 loss to Dundee Utd. Haowan was also on the losing side, Andrew Billen and Hibs beat Rangers 1-0. Mark Cator played for Morton as they got a beating away at Kilmarnock, largely thanks to a brace from Mike Billcliffe St Mirren beat Aberdeen 3-2 and with Lewis Hamilton, Nicky, James Knowles and Marky Mark involved it was a shame none of them found the net. Finally Mark Webber was on target to put Celtic 1-0 up in their game against Hearts, he held off four defenders to score and out shine fellow Aussie Brendan Petersen.

Before anymore football was played Portsmouth had a £220k bid for Jack Villeneuve rejected by Gretna. While Bob Mcbob returned to Celtic and won’t be helping Nottingham Forrest to promotion.

Back on the field Wolves destroyed Leicester 2-4 with Alex Rodgers adding insult to injury with the 4th and final goal although Wolves were already comfortably through. That sets up a final with Wigan and if Wolves win we’ll be back to having 3 players at Premiership clubs after Fuzzy Lightning and Hull were relegated.

The final Saturday of SPL action and Mark Cator's final game for Morton. He said goodbye in sensational style, two goals from Cator earned Morton a win over Inverness CT, Lewis Hamilton and St Mirren were also on the losing side as they played Gretna which saw St Mirren relegated. That same day saw a Merseyside derby in the FA Cup final, three sendings off later and Everton ran out 0-1 winners over arch rivals Liverpool. Final day in the SPL allowed Brendan Petersen to send Hearts out on a high as his single goal earned them a 1-0 win. And then in the final game of the season, the old firm derby ended in a dull 1-1 draw with Celtic already champions and Rangers already guaranteed second. Mark Webber was an unsurprising inclusion in the Celtic side but Michael Schumacher coming off the bench to make his Rangers debut at Ibrox was certainly a shock to all, although he came on in the 90th minute the young German did manage 1 attempt on goal. icon_cool.gif

icon_cool.gif

The play-off final came and went without too much excitement, Wigan won a boring game 1-0 with Wolves throwing on Alex Rodgers after 70 minutes to try and rescue the match. The Scottish Cup final didn’t provide much more entertainment until past the 120th minute, a 0-0 draw after extra time resulted in penalties. It was Inverness CT who triumphed 4-3 on penalties and left a bitter taste in the mouth of man of the match Mikael Schøler who was praised by the victorious manager after the match. Outside of the UK Loic Flamilson had been busy, 2 goals in 3 games for Levski Sofia was enough to see him share the race win with Mark Cator and become the first man to reach double figures in FMGP wins. So where was the constructors title going? Team 5 was the answer, Flamilson's 10 points were enough to secure back to back doubles for the boys at Team 5 a superb achievement by anyone’s standards.

Driver of the Day - A shared victory and a shared dotd, Flamilson and Cator both did well in this short race. Flamilson bagging himself his 4th trophy in just 2 seasons. Anybody who doubted his move at the start of the season has been silenced and surely its only a matter of time before a big club comes knocking on Levski’s door for the highly talented Frenchman. As for Cator he did his best to help Team 7 to the constructors title and in doing so catapulted himself into second in the drivers title, a better month from Andrew Billen could have seen Team 7 steal it but I’m sure they won’t be too disappointed to lose to the seemingly unstoppable force that is Team 5.

Transfer Update

Last season we saw Loic Flamilson move outside of the leagues being run by myself and while he was at it he retained his drivers championship. Obviously somebody has been taking notes, a player with a fairly unimpressive scoring record despite lots of game time was the target of Sparta Prague. Mikael Schøler was the subject of a £2.5 million and Falkirk jumped at the chance to make some money and the Dane was on his way outside of the playable leagues.

Pablo Gonzalez moved on loan to Forres Mechanics, again outside of the playable leagues.

Then from nowhere Nicky was the most sought after man in Scotland, Motherwell and Leeds made bids but relegated Hull went all out to win the race and bid £8.4 million for the youngster. Somehow St Mirren decided that wasn’t a fair valuation and rejected all bids. Leeds tried again with a £1.3m bid which was accepted by the chairman and he eventually joined the Yorkshire club.

Meanwhile the bids were hardly flying in for Loic Flamilson, Kaiserslautern offered £3.4m + clauses and with 14 clubs in total interested it looked like more were yet to come and it seemed only a matter of time before he was on his way. Nobody else got the chance though, the offer was accepted and Flamilson agreed personal terms and he was on his way to Germany.

Next to move was James Knowles, from previous experience we know loan moves can be beneficial and this one to Brechin could put Knowles in good stead for next season.

Another move, this time it was Alex Rodgers. After a quiet season in the Championship he decided it was time to move back to Scotland and moved to replace Mikael Schøler at Falkirk for £625k.

Falkirk were again in action in the transfer market, this time they signed Billy Hawkins on loan for the season from Birmingham. This meant we now had drivers from 3 different teams playing for the same club, tension was bound to be high between the trio as they fought for places.

Another move this time Lewis Hamilton leaving relegated St Mirren for newly promoted Motherwell for £450k.

Final transfer activity before the start of the first race and after a host of Portuguese clubs came in for him Marky Mark departed for Benfica for a sum of £200k

And that was the end of the transfers before August started, a fair amount of moving around which should make for an interesting season which was soon to get underway.......

Race 1 - August

After a busy summer of transfers for the drivers things got back underway in Scotland and in the German Cup. James Knowles was keen to take advantage of his loan move and was straight into the starting 11, he couldn’t find the net in a 1-2 loss but will hope to finally be playing regular football. In the SPL Knowles team could have done with his help as they lost 1-0 to Dundee Utd with Elliot Druce in the starting 11. Mike Billcliffe was on the winning team as Kilmarnock welcomed Motherwell back to the top division, a 0-1 win and a booking for Billcliffe wasn’t the best start to the season but it could’ve been worse. Mark Cator got a fairly good start as Hibs drew 2-2 at Ibrox, Andrew Billen had a better start though as he scored the opener for Hibs after just 54 seconds. The last match of the day was filled with excitement, Billy Hawkins made his debut for Falkirk from the bench but he was far outshone by two other players. Jack Villeneuve came from the bench and scored to make it 2-2. However he was only equalling the performance of Alex Rodgers who was also making his debut, Rodgers had made it 1-1 earlier in the match and he went on to score his second of the match to make it 2-3 before Gretna equalised again, the result aside it was a fantastic debut from Alex Rodgers. Sunday saw another debut but this time in the German Cup, Loic Flamilson didn’t become a two time drivers champion by being a slow starter and he had no plans of starting now. The Frenchman grabbed a brace in a 0-3 win for his new side to have an equally impressive debut as early leader Alex Rodgers. The second game on Sunday was a first for Celtic, Bob Mcbob and Mark Webber starting up front. Mcbob had a distinctly average game especially when compared to his partner, a stunning performance from Mark Webber saw him rocket to the front of the race with a hatrick in a 0-4 demolition of Morton, establishing Celtic as still the dominant force in Scotland and possibly announcing Mark Webber’s arrival as a major contender. Monday night was a disappointing start to the season for Brendan Petersen as he failed to score any of Hearts 3 goals against Inverness CT and he picked up a yellow card.

Before any games were played on Saturday more transfer news reached the fans, Fulham snapped up Jack Villeneuve for £200k.

An exciting first weekend looked to be followed by an exciting second weekend, Loic Flamilson got things started although he only managed an appearance in a 1-1 draw with Wolfsburg. In the Championship Nicky made his Leeds debut in a 2-2 draw while in another 2-2 draw Fuzzy Lightning scored to gain Hull a point. In Scotland Mike Billcliffe was involved in a 0-0 draw with Gretna and from there things really picked up, Lewis Hamilton put Motherwell 0-1 up in his debut with a real poachers goal after 18 minutes. Twelve minutes later Mark Cator turned his defender on the edge of the box and buried a well placed shot in the bottom corner to make it 1-1, Andrew Billen was introduced and an exciting game went on to finish 3-3. Another exciting game was played out at Celtic Park, Bob Mcbob played for the home team and they eventually ran out 3-2 winners despite the best efforts of Brendan Petersen who put Hearts 1-0 up inside 2 minutes and then equalised to make it 2-2 in the 81st minute only for Celtic to go on and score the winner in injury time. A hatrick last week and we were treated to another this week, no goals on his debut but this week when Brechin were 1-0 down James Knowles rescued them all by himself. He scored the equaliser and then a goal to put them 1-2 up before half time, 3 minutes into the second half he turned supplier as he set up a third for his team before going on to smash in his 3rd goal on 67 minutes and Brechin went on to win 1-4. Sunday was by far less action packed than the previous day, Haowan played in a 1-1 draw with Inverness CT and that was all. All three of Falkirk’s strikers were involved in a 0-2 loss to Dundee Utd, Elliot Druce played for the winning side and got the last laugh over Billy Hawkins, Arthur White and Alex Rodgers.

On Wednesday evening Nicky made his League Cup debut in style, Leeds destroyed Chester 4-0 with Nicky pitching in with the third goal. The following evening saw Scotland’s representation in the UEFA Cup in action, Falkirk won 3-1 with Alex Rodgers playing and getting booked. In the other match Hearts romped to a 6-3 victory over FC Midtjylland. Never far from the action at Tynecastle Stadium, Brendan Petersen got in on the act making it 2-0 and then later 3-1 as he collected man of the match. And Marky Mark made his Benfica debut in the Champions League qualifiers in a 2-0 win. On the Thursday Mikael Schøler played for Sparta in the Uefa cup and managed 2 goals against Cork City, seems his move abroad was the right option. Also in action in cup competition was James Knowles in the Challenge Cup, another hatrick from the youngster took him to the front of the race as he helped the team to a 4-3 over Elgin.

The weekend came around and Bob Mcbob made it a fourth hatrick for the month as he scored 3 goals in a 5-1 win over Inverness CT, Mark Webber was his strike partner but I doubt many will remember that in years to come. Mcbob will never forget that day though, he started the scoring on 3 minutes with a delightful chip from 18 yards to claim his first ever Celtic goal, then on 35 minutes he controlled a cross and almost burst the net as he volleyed in from 12 yards. Before 40 minutes were up he completed the set with a low shot which clipped the post before nestling in the bottom corner. Quickest goal of the day definitely went to Elliot Druce, he scored the 1st of four for Dundee Utd after just 25 seconds as they beat Kilmarnock 4-1. The consolation goal came from Mike Billcliffe. The action didn’t stop there either, Mark Cator was on the score sheet to earn Hibs a 1-1 draw at Gretna, Andrew Billen crossed to the near post and Cator headed in on 92 minutes. Still the goal scoring continued, James Knowles proved why Brechin took him on loan as he scored another two goals on route to a 3-0 win. He didn’t know it at the time but Knowles’ first goal after just 2 minutes was to mirrored almost exactly a minute later by Bob Mcbob with a beautiful chip. In England the action seemed to have dried up, Nicky played but couldn’t score in a 2-1 win for Leeds. In Germany things certainly hotted up though, Loic Flamilson has had it fairly easy up until now but the way this season has started his title could be in real jeopardy, the Frenchman responded in the perfect fashion. Fifteen minutes in he smashed a shot past the keeper from the edge of the area to make it 1-0, 5 minutes later he was involved again and he showed superb technique as a cross came in to score with an inspired overhead kick from 8 yards out. Kaiserslautern rocketed to the top of the League and Flamilson picked up man of the match. On Sunday it was back to SPL action as Motherwell got a shock win at home against Rangers, Lewis Hamilton was the man of the moment again although it was quite literally a moment. He scored Motherwell’s only goal of the game after 4 minutes only to be replaced less than 60 seconds later for no obvious reason, no injuries and he was in fine condition, unsurprisingly he was less than happy. Billy Hawkins and Alex Rodgers played in a 1-0 loss to Morton......

.....Brechin were in action on Friday and with the help of another James Knowles goal they managed a 2-2 draw, he calmly latched onto a long ball and with 4 defenders closing in he rounded the keeper before slotting home. A day later and Bob Mcbob and Mark Webber were back up front for Celtic, it was Webber’s turn to take the spotlight as he scored to help his team to a 1-2 win over Aberdeen. Elliot Druce, Mark Cator and Andrew Billen were all involved in a 1-1 draw between their two sides while Lewis Hamilton played again for Motherwell this time in a 1-0 loss. Mike Billcliffe was also on the end of a 0-1 defeat at Morton, final action for the day in Scotland saw Haowan’s single goal gain Rangers a point at home against Gretna. In the EPL Jack Smithston came on in the dying moments for Fulham in a 2-2 draw at Craven Cottage with Preston. While in the Championship Fuzzy Lightning played in a 0-1 win for Hull and Nicky played in a 1-1 draw for Leeds. Out and about around Europe Loic Flamilson played in a 2-1 loss to Schalke.

Everybody loves some Scottish League Cup action and it got underway on Monday, Falkirk scoring 5 goals Alex Rodgers scored after just 20 seconds to quite possibly score the fastest ever Scottish League cup goal, Billy Hawkins and Arthur White played as well. Mark Cator started for Hibs but failed to score in 81 minutes, Andrew Billen came on as a sub in the second half and bagged himself a brace in extra time as his side progressed 1-3. Amidst rumours he wants to leave Kilmarnock for a bigger club Mike Billcliffe had no trouble scoring their third goal of the game in a 0-3 victory over Brechin. Lewis Hamilton picked up a booking as Motherwell progressed 1-2 and Elliot Druce will be angry with himself for not scoring one of Dundee Utd’s 6 goals as they breezed through. In the English League Cup Jack Smithston scored his first ever Fulham goal in a 4-0 win over Leyton Orient. In the Champions League both Rangers and Celtic made it to the group stages, Mark Webber played for Celtic. Both Scottish teams progressed in the UEFA Cup as well, Brendan Petersen played as Hearts won again and Billy Hawkins and Alex Rodgers were on the score sheet as Falkirk won 0-4 , Hawkins goal coming from all of 25 yards although it did take a deflection along the way. Mikael Schøler was back in action against Cork City who he seems to like playing as he knocked another goal past them to help Sparta Prague through.

Going into the last lap James Knowles had the lead with an impressive scoring record, there were any number of drivers who could steal a win but it looked like Knowles was going to come out on top.

Just as it looked like the transfer activity for the summer was over Hearts got out their chequebook, £900k was paid to Hull for the services of Fuzzy Lightning however several clauses could mean the overall fee reaching up to £5.25m.

Last chance for points and Andrew Billen didn’t disappoint his fans on the Saturday, he scored to put his side 0-1 up before they eventually went down 2-1 to Morton. In the other game that day Lewis Hamilton played for Motherwell in a draw with Gretna. In the Championship Nicky scored Leeds 4th out of an eventual 5 goal haul as they got all 3 points, James Knowles gave everybody else a chance to catch up as he only managed an appearance in a 0-0 draw. The final action of the day saw Loic Flamilson play in a 1-1 draw for Kaiserslautern. The following day Haowan played for Rangers as they drew with Dundee Utd, Celtic and Falkirk faced off and 4 of the drivers were involved. Alex Rodgers, Billy Hawkins and Mark Webber had very little effect on the game but Bob Mcbob headed in from close range to earn his side a draw in a game that ended 2-2. Mike Billcliffe is supposedly unhappy at Kilmarnock but he certainly has a funny way of showing it, Brendan Petersen looked on as Billcliffe produced a goal out of nothing early on to give his side a chance and then in the 87th minute he held off a defender before turning and sublimely curling it into the top corner for his second. The fantastic display wasn’t enough to see his side win though as they conceded 4 and maybe highlighted the reason he wants to leave. We’d heard about Mikael Schøler’s exploits in the UEFA Cup but heard nothing of his league outings, he added 4 games and 2 goals to his tally taking him overall to 6 games and 5 goals for the opening month. Someone who had been forgotten about was Pablo Gonzalez, loaned out to such a lowly Scottish club he isn’t in a playable league. It seems the Mexican may have made a good move though, he may have only played once but he managed a goal and more points than he ever has at Inverness CT.

Driver of the Day - James Knowles by a country mile, he once again shows the benefits of a loan move by storming his way to his first ever victory and scoring 2 hatricks along the way. Mikael Schøler also gets a mention by showing he can score goals and getting 2nd place with a points total that on other occasions would have seen him win, Brendan Petersen showed the importance of keeping things clean as his booking cost him a points finish.

After fading into the background at Aberdeen and with appearances few and far between since the beggining of this sign up we finally have some action after a loan move to nearby Brechin. An excellent start to the season which may even give me and my team a chance to build upon and challenge for the hounors this season.

Keep up the good work.

Finally! Seems like a move to a new club really boosted my confidence :)
