Race 5 - December

On the first day of December Morton played Hibernian in a high scoring encounter, none of the racers started but Andrew Billen came from the bench to score in the 87th minute to make it 4-1 before Morton made it 4-2 in the last minute of the game.

On Wednesday the UEFA Cup gave Marky Mark the chance to catch up with leader Billen but he couldn’t find the net as he came from the bench as they lost 0-1 to Lokeren.

On Saturday Andrew Billen looked to extend his lead with an appearance in a 2-1 loss at Kilmarnock, both he and Mike Billcliffe came from the bench. Elliot Druce and Mikael Schøler were as ever present as their two sides met in an uneventful 1-0 win for Dundee Utd, Hearts continued to give Brendan Petersen a chance as he came from the bench in a 3-0 win over St Mirren. Mark Cator played and was booked in a surprise win for Morton over Inverness CT. If James Knowles had any hopes of playing for Aberdeen in the near future they were dashed as he tore a hamstring in training keeping him out for 3 months. His team mate was just back from an injury and wasted no time reminding us why he was the one who got more game time, Marky Mark scored with a well placed shot from the edge of the box to send Gretna and Jack Villeneuve down 1-0.

On Wednesday Celtic played Liverpool in the final group stage game of the Champions League, Liverpool had already won the group and Celtic were all but through barring a 10-0 loss to the English side. So despite it being almost meaningless both teams would be desperate to win, for Liverpool it would mean going through with 6 wins. Mark Webber started the match and started the scoring on 6 minutes as he fired past Reina into the top corner from just inside the penalty area, sending the home fans into hysterics as Celtic went on to win 2-1 and deprive Liverpool of their 100% record.

Back in Scotland Webber was again in the Celtic side and again they won, this time 3-0 over Kilmarnock who used Mike Billcliffe again from the bench. Mikael Schøler played his 17th game of the season for Falkirk but with only 2 goals to his name this season how much longer can he remain in the team? One man who is full of goals just lately scored again against Falkirk, Brendan Petersen rescued a point for Hearts in the 88th minute after poor control in the box from a defender. Morton continue at the bottom of the SPL after a 3-2 loss to Gretna, they can’t doubt the efforts of Mark Cator as he scored to put his team 1-0 up but they failed to hold on. They can hardly blame Jack Villeneuve either as failed to score once again. St Mirren seem to have forgotten about Nicky the last few weeks and that was the case again as Lewis Hamilton was selected to start against Rangers, the 0-2 win for the away side was not so much of a surprise but the introduction of Haowan for his second appearance for the season certainly was. On Monday Inverness CT once again ignored their young strikers against a team who does the very opposite, Dundee Utd. The away side may want to take note though as despite a goal from Elliot Druce they went down 2-1.

The UEFA cup was back and nobody can deny that Brendan Petersen's late form has been anything short of brilliant, he continued his scoring against Schalke in the 18th minute to earn his side a 1-1 draw and send them through to the next round. It wasn’t all good news for the Aussie though as 50 minutes later as his engine blew up in spectacular fashion, tearing his groin muscle and keeping him out for 1-2 months. The following evening Haowan made his European debut for Rangers in a 2-0 win over Feyenoord as Rangers became the second Scottish side to progress.

Saturday started with an action filled game, Jack Villeneuve ended his goal drought, picked up a booking and had seemingly won the game for his team until the 90th minute when Mike Billcliffe equalised for Kilmarnock. Mikael Schøler continued his role as a key member of the Falkirk side although he failed to find the net again in a 0-1 win over Inverness CT. Marky Mark's comeback seems to have been short lived, he didn’t play for Aberdeen as they lost 3-2 to Morton who had Mark Cator on the scoresheet once again. On Sunday Hibernian lost 1-2 to Rangers, Andrew Billen played some part but not a significant one. Elliot Druce played for Dundee Utd away at St Mirren, the forgotten man Nicky was back in the starting 11 for the home side but came off at half time in the 1-1 draw.

Boxing day was set to be an action packed day as for most it was the last game of the month, the field was wide open with at least 6 drivers in with a chance of a win. One of them was Elliot Druce, he helped his cause with a goal in a 1-2 loss to Celtic who had Mark Webber in the starting 11 and made this Christmas a happy one for Bob Mcbob who came on for his Celtic debut. Marky Mark was back in the squad for Aberdeen and he came from the bench to make an appearance, Mikael Schøler was as ever in the Falkirk team for a 4-1 thrashing of St Mirren but neither he nor Nicky could score. Mark Cator and Jack Villeneuve both played in 2-1 losses for their sides and Andrew Billen was also on the end of a 4-1 score line as Hearts tore the Hibs defence to pieces. In England the closest anybody came to a happy Christmas was Billy Hawkins who was on the bench as Birmingham beat Bolton 2-0. Christmas is just as important in Bulgaria as it is anywhere else and if anyone had a good one Loic Flamilson certainly did. He celebrated the festive month with although not his most impressive performance, definitely one that should win him the race. Four goals in six games for Levski Sofia put the drivers champion well on his way, with only 4 players able to score points in the final game of the season.

The last game of the month was the old firm derby, Rangers ran out 2-1 winners but Bob Mcbob won’t be too disappointed as he came on to make his second appearance in a row for the league leaders.

Driver of the Day - Many questioned the decision to move on loan to Morton but after 5 races Mark Cator has been consistently in the points and is sitting joint third in the Drivers Championship with his team is second in the Constructors Championship. The relegation threatened club had a good month meaning they’re only bottom on goal difference going in to the new year. So Cator takes driver of the day but can’t go without mentioning Loic Flamilson once again in fine form for Levski and also Brendan Petersen with another good month for Hearts.

3 assists, 64% pass completion ratio, 0.17 tackles per 90 minutes, avg rating 6.53 so far this season. So definitely nothing special but Falkirk aren't exactly spoiled for choice up front

Race 6 - January

The first game of the year in England took place in the FA Cup but the only man to play was Alex Rodgers for Wolves, unfortunately for him it will be his last appearance in the FA Cup this year as they crashed out 0-3 to Blackpool. Elliot Druce started the new year with a new contract and a goal for his team as they beat Gretna 2-1, Jack Villeneuve made an appearance for the away team. Mikael Schøler played as Flakirk were victorious over Andrew Billen's Hibernian side, Mark Cator played for Morton as they lost away at Hearts, although that was not particularly surprising the introduction of Quick Nick on 81 minutes was a pleasant one. If his appearance was a surprise it was nothing compared to the shock of scoring just 7 minutes after coming on to secure a victory that was already looking likely at 2-0. The following day Nicky and Lewis Hamilton featured for St Mirren in a 0-3 loss to Celtic, Mark Webber helped to pile pressure on the relegation threatened side with the 2nd goal of the game. The final action of the day was Haowan signing a new contract at Rangers for a cool £4600 p/w and becoming the highest paid player.

Wednesdays games started with an action packed 2-2 draw between Aberdeen and Kilmarnock, Marky Mark and Mike Billcliffe both played for their teams. That was followed by another high scoring 3-0 win for Celtic over Falkirk, Mark Webber scored the opener and Mikael Schøler played for the losing side. Jack Villeneuve scored a rare goal as his side drew 1-1 with Hearts, Hibs beat Dundee Utd 1-0 with both Andrew Billen and Elliot Druce playing. The high scoring game for the weekend was Inverness CT vs. St Mirren, Lewis Hamilton played and Nicky scored his sides 4th goal after 39 minutes but a second half fight back saw the game end 4-4. The game was over well before full time for the man making his debut, on 61 minutes Inverness CT threw Pablo Gonzalez into the mix. The young Mexican managed 2 incomplete passes before getting injured in the 66th minute and putting himself out of action for 3-4 weeks. The action concluded with a Mark Cator inspired 2-2 draw between Morton and Rangers, Cator scored to put his team ahead and when Rangers equalised he put his team in front once again only for his defence to fail him and Rangers to grab a point.

Saturday was a day to remember for Jack Smithston, after his move to Premiership team Fulham in the summer he’s been at the back of most people’s minds. But 10 minutes from the end of his sides 2-1 win over Sunderland he came off the bench to make his debut. The Scottish Cup took centre stage north of the border, Mike Billcliffe took full advantage of playing weaker opposition as he got himself a brace in a 0-5 win over Berwick. Celtic played Hearts as the top two in the SPL clashed, the 2nd place team came out on top with a 1-2 win with Mark Webber finding the back of the net for the home team. Marky Mark featured for Aberdeen as they drew 0-0 with Hamilton, Andrew Billen played for Hibs in a 3-0 win over Ayr. Haowan started for Rangers as they progressed easily with a 2-0 win over Stenhousemuir and Nicky got a goal to kill of Stranraer as St Mirren went through.

Another set of midweek games gave another opportunity for games and goals, Andrew Billen has been getting plenty of the former and added 2 goals to his tally in a 4-0 win over St Mirren both Nicky and Lewis Hamilton played a part in the game. Mark Cator added to his goal tally as well, he got a crucial goal against Dundee Utd and Elliot Druce to rescue a point and lift Morton off the bottom of the table. Haowan started and Mike Billcliffe came from the bench in an away victory for Rangers and Mark Webber played in a 3-0 home win for Celtic over Inverness CT. The last game of the day saw Mikael Schøler back in the Falkirk team and he surprised everybody with a goal, unfortunately it wasn’t enough to prevent a 2-1 loss to Jack Villeneuve and his Gretna team mates. In the Premiership Fuzzy Lightning made his second league appearance of the season for Hull in a 1-1 draw with Pompey. And in a Scottish Cup replay Marky Mark scored Aberdeen’s 3rd goal as they beat Hamilton.

The weekend rolled around once again and Mikael Schøler was again in the Falkirk team as they lost to an in form Morton and Mark Cator who scored the winner for his side. Nicky and Jack Villeneuve played in a 0-1 win for St Mirren, but with Morton winning St Mirren stay bottom of the SPL. The best performance of the day by far came in the game between Kilmarnock and Hearts, at half time Hearts held a 0-2 lead. Sixty minutes gone and Mike Billcliffe pounced on a mistake to volley home from 6 yards, 4 minutes later he beat the offside trap and rounded the keeper to equalise for his team, Hearts went ahead again on 81 minutes before a red hot Billcliffe fired in his third from 12 yards to secure his team a point. The incredible performance from Mike earned him the praise of Wigan manager Steve Bruce who still has 13 days to make a move if he wants to buy the youngster. In England Alex Rodgers made a sub appearance for promotion chasing Wolves who sit in 4th after a 1-1 draw with Doncaster. Sundays only game was a thrashing of Hibernian who hosted Celtic, the final score of 0-4 might have been less but for Andrew Billen's own goal at 0-2.

The following Saturday was a fairly boring affair, appearances for Mikael Schøler and Mike Billcliffe in a 1-2 Falkrik win. Elliot Druce played in a 2-0 loss to Rangers, Jack Villeneuve and Andrew Billen played as Gretna beat Hibs 2-1. On Sunday Mark Webber got the scoring started in a 1-3 win over Morton and Mark Cator. On Monday Nicky, Lewis Hamilton and Marky Mark were all involved in a 3-1 win for Aberdeen.

Midweek games in the Premiership usually wouldn’t have meant much action but Fuzzy Lightning played for Hull and scored an 87th minute equaliser against Southampton. And on the same day Alex Rodgers made an appearance for Wolves as they drew 1-1 with QPR. The semi finals of the Scottish League Cup had also come around, Mikael Schøler scored for Falkirk but couldn’t prevent a 1-2 loss at the hands of Hearts. In the other game Celtic won 0-1 over Hibernian with Mark Webebr and Andrew Billen both playing some role though not a crucial one.

They entered the final lap and there was a 3 way battle for the victory, Mike Billcliffe, Mark Webber and Mark Cator were all in good form and any of the trio could take the win. While Loic Flamilson was also in contention for a podium place having scored 4 times in 6 games for Levski.

The month ended well for Fuzzy Lightning as he played again for Hull, this time in a 0-1 loss to Spurs. In Scotland we turned our attention to the Cup once again, Jack Villeneuve played in a 2-1 loss to Inverness CT. Arthur White played for Falkirk and picked up a booking before being replaced by Mikael Schøler in a 1-1 draw with Morton. Rangers travelled to Peterhead and handed out a beating, Haowan started for the Scottish giants and headed in after 84 minutes just a minute before being substituted. In the last game of the day Mike Billcliffe played in a 1-1 draw with Stirling.

Driver of the Day - Quite frankly the toughest race so far, 5 appearances and a goal was only enough to get 7th place this month. That said the winner of the race has to take it, a hatrick from Billcliffe did the job in the end and he steals a victory from old rival Loic Flamilson. Mikael Schøler deserves a special mention, he managed 2 goals this month, that’s as many as he’d scored previously all season.

Race 8 - February

Two Scottish Cup games on Sunday gave Marky Mark the opportunity to get a good start from pole position, Andrew Billen played against him in a 1-0 win for Hibernian. The other game was even less eventful as St Mirren drew 0-0 with Dundee Utd, , Lewis Hamilton and Elliot Druce both played making it a 4 way tie into the first corner. That was until the late kick-off in the English Premier League, Billy Hawkins made his debut for Birmingham which was a surprise in itself. Possibly an even bigger surprise was the result, a 2-0 win over Chelsea.

Marky Mark tried to take the lead as he played in a 2-0 loss to Celtic, Lewis Hamilton wasn’t having any of it as he drew level with an appearance in a 1-2 loss against Kilmarnock. Nicky overtook the pair of them as he came from the bench to score St Mirren’s consolation goal, Mike Billcliffe played for the victorious side. Jack Villeneuve played for his team in a 1-1 draw with Inverness CT but all the attention was on Andrew Billen who helped Hibs to a 2-0 win over Morton, with his goal the Welshman is currently leading the race. Coming off the back of one of his most prolific months ever Mikael Schøler continued in the Falkirk team but he couldn’t continue his goal scoring form as they lost 0-2 to Rangers. Haowan started for the away team and headed in his first league goal of the season on 71 minutes to secure the win. Elliot Druce played against Hearts in a 1-2 loss.

On Tuesday morning Bob Mcbob joined League 1 Nottingham Forrest on loan for three months, they wasted no time in using the Celtic youngster playing him that very evening in a 0-1 win over Port Vale. On Wednesday Andrew Billen looked to extend his lead as he played in a 2-2 draw with Inverness CT but he couldn’t find the net. In the Scottish Cup replays Elliot Druce got himself level with the leader as he scored but couldn’t prevent his team going out to St Mirren, Nicky played and got booked. Falkirk beat Morton 3-0 with the home sides third goal coming from Arthur White who started the game, Mikael Schøler came off the bench. Mike Billcliffe made a charge for the front of the field with a brace against Stirling in a 4-0 win for his team.

Saturday was another FA Cup weekend but none of our players took part, Bob Mcbob played again for Notts Forrest this time in a 2-1 loss to Leeds. His team mate Mark Webber returned from U21 duty with Australia to score for Celtic in a 1-4 demolition of Kilmarnock, Elliot Druce added to his points tally with an appearance in a loss to Inverness CT. And in the last game of the day Morton put themselves 4 points clear of the relegation spot with a 3-2 win over Gretna, or more to the point Mark Cator put them 4 points clear as he scored all three goals in his first appearance of the month. On Sunday Mikael Schøler and Arthur White started a game up front together for the first time this season, White overshadowed his team mate for the second time this month as he scored again. Unfortunately for Falkirk it was on the same day as the return of Brendan Petersen, who after 2 months out scored a goal for each of them in a 3-1 win for Hearts. Haowan and Nicky both played as Rangers destroyed St Mirren 5-0 to put the losing side in further trouble down at the wrong end of the table. Mondays game saw another appearance for Marky Mark in a 1-3 loss to Hibs.

On Tuesday Mark Webber played in the biggest game of his career so far as Celtic welcomed Real Madrid in the knockout round of the Champions League, the Spaniards left with a 0-1 win giving them the advantage for the second leg.

A Wednesday game between Dundee Utd and Kilmarnock ended well for Elliot Druce as he scored the winning goal for his team, Mike Billcliffe couldn’t prevent the 1-0 loss. In the other game of the day the bottom two side played in a huge game, Nicky and Lewis Hamilton were both involved and it looked like St Mirren were going to close the gap but Mark Cator had something to say about it. He scored on 75 minutes to give Morton a chance and then 11 minutes later rounded the goalkeeper to equalise for his team and leave the situation at the bottom of the table exactly as it was.

The following day was UEFA Cup day, Rangers crashed out to Nurnberg but Haowan made an appearance. Brendan Petersen couldn’t make the same impact in Europe as he did in the SPL for Hearts as they also went out to Anderlecht.

Saturday saw a huge first, all three players in the EPL played for their respective clubs. Billy Hawkins played for Birmingham in a 0-1 loss to Portsmouth, Fuzzy Lightning played for Hull as they lost 0-1 to Man Utd and Jack Smithston played for Fulham in a 1-1 draw with Preston. Down in League 1 Bob Mcbob played again for Notts Forrest making Alex Rodgers the only player in England to miss out. Back in Scotland Mike Billcliffe picked up a booking in a 2-0 loss to Hibs and Mark Cator failed to continue his scoring ways in a 2-2 draw with Inverness CT. Mikael Schøler continued in the Falkirk team, Arthur White continued alongside him and continued to eclipse his team mate with another goal in a 4-1 win over Dundee Utd and Elliot Druce Sunday afternoon saw Celtic smack 4 past Rangers, Haowan played the last 30 minutes for the losing side. Lewis Hamilton played from the bench for St Mirren, Nicky started and picked up a booking but neither will mind as their side picked up a valuable win over Hearts and Brendan Petersen. On Monday evening Jack Villeneuve picked up his second yellow card of the month, probably out of frustration as his side lost 2-5 to Aberdeen. Marky Mark was back on the score sheet for the visitors, not once but twice in a man of the match performance.

Wednesday was a big day for Hearts, if they could beat Rangers they’d have a very good chance of catching them and challenging for 2nd place, Brendan Petersen did all he could for the home team grabbing 2 goals taking his tally to 4 in 4 for the month. Unfortunately it was Rangers who came out on top with a 2-3 win and extending their lead over Hearts.

The final lap of the race approached and 5 goals from Mark Cator had put him in good stead for his first race win, Mike Billcliffe was there or there abouts as usual, Elliot Druce and Arthur White were also in with a shout and after his two goals midweek Brendan Petersen is also a major competitor.

Fuzzy Lightning had no chance of a race win but he played for Hull as they lost to Everton and continued at the bottom of the table on 8 points. Alex Rodgers took his last chance to play this month for Wolves as they beat Colchester 2-1 and holding onto 4th spot. Bob Mcbob played in a 2-2 draw for Notts Forrest. Back in Scotland where the action was Haowan scored his 2nd of the month in a 3-3 draw with Hibernian, Andrew Billen played for the away team. Jack Villeneuve played for Gretna in a 4-1 loss to Kilmarnock, Falkirk fired 4 past Inverness CT many would have expected in form Arthur White to be on the score sheet but although he played it was Mikael Schøler who stole the show with a brace, two near post headers earned him his 5th and 6th goals of the season. The final game of the day was a showdown between two of the potential race winners, Aberdeen played Morton and as expected both Marky Mark and Mark Cator were in the starting 11’s. Morton went ahead but Cator wasn’t the scorer and so it was up to Marky Mark to light up the stage. Fifty six minutes in Aberdeen were given a free kick 35 yards out. Barry Nicholson rolled the ball back to the Aussie who smashed the ball all the way into the top corner, flying past the keeper, earning his team a draw and himself man of the match. With the goal he not only gave himself a great chance of winning of the race but in my opinion scored the best goal of any scored by the racers so far. In the end though it was Mark Cator who would come away with the race win. Or would he? Loic Flamilson can never be forgotten when we reach the end of the month, the Drivers Champion is nearly always up amongst the top competitors. Luckily for Mark Cator and his fans this month was a poor one by the Frenchman's normal standards, with only 2 goals in 4 games for Levski he'd be lucky to even get a points finish.

Driver of the Day - Very tempted to give this one to Haowan simply because he scored the first points for Team 11 icon14.gificon_biggrin.gif But...An incredibly tough race ended with a first race win for Mark Cator so he’s got to be given the credit for that. Some very good performances elsewhere with Brendan Petersen and Marky Mark well and truly back in the points as well as Elliot Druce holding onto 2nd place in the Drivers Championship, but in the end Cator has to be DOTD.

Coming up to the end of season 2 now and only 2 people are yet to make their debut. I haven't looked at who's posting and who isn't but I'll be checking at the end of the season. So if some of the people who aren't playing very regularly and therefore aren't posting could let me know that you're all still interested that would be great icon14.gif

nooooooo it is like watching the CL final and then it stops at halftime and they say the next half will be played at another time..

I wish I could give some good news on that front but my laptop is still refusing to play any disc at all

Right the good news is the drive should be sorted tomorow or Monday at the latest, the bad news is I'm out of an internet connection for 3 weeks +. So what I'll do is once the drive is fixed, continue to play the game and write the reports and once I get the internet back they'll be up fairly rapidly until I catch up and then continue as normal.
