On my steam installed version it won't copy over the original panels file.

Yeah it works for me.

Copied the downloaded panels.fmf to the program "C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\data" folder and started a new game and I can choose from Huge Database.

Presumably its going to load more players. Less greys in squads.

Don't know what the comparitable numbers are (i.e. large v. huge) but would like to know.

I ahve noticed it seems to slow the game down a lot more than using a large DB, and my PC is pretty decent too

Can I have the specs of your PC please? If it is decent and still not enough, it is not a surprise that SI CHOSE NOT create a huge database because it slows down the game significantly. Hope I am right about this!!

Guys what exactly does this do. I'm pretty new to the editing game.

You get a whole lot of new players in the game database.

In last years game, it more than doubled the players available in the game. I am very glad this is out now, so thanks alot!

Uncompress the downloaded file, then follow bluewolf's last sentence.

download and copy to C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\data folder. replace it when asked.

You should be able to select a Huge database, which should be just below Large.

Oh cool, so a new huge database option becomes available in game?

What is this "huge database" all about? What happens when i download it - will it replace the original database?

Huge Database is an option that was missed by many since its removal with the release of FM '07 and on regarding the developer's note saying that it caused less accurate/realistic player regens.

Since I'm no play-for-19231-seasons-where-Messi-is-a-retired-manager kind of FM player, I don't care about what happens with the regens. I just want my full squad Envigado, Black Arrows or whatever other tiny team in another corner of the world, so that I can headhunt gems for ridiculous prices.

The small file will add the option "Huge" to the database seleciton part of the New Game setup. It's nothing corruptive for your game -it actually was a part of it.

Why do Si continue to leave this out? I remember having to patch fm2008 as well, I would love an official response

How large is this download gents? Mine was only 137mb. Seems small.

Ok, so if I load up Huge database and run only 2 leagues (full English) and Polish how does it work out with players let's say from South America? Is it worth loading up all players from some coutries as well or huge database means that it is so huge that is not worth loading up all players from another countries as it would not make any difference.

P.S I think I preffered old CM where things were not so complicated

Ah and for those that *may* be unable to see huge database option while setting up a new game.

Remember to tick off Use Skin Cache.

Has anyone got a size above Huge - it just really annoys me that a nation like Finland, doesn't even have its proper national team, and half an u21 side, same with countries like Bulgaria.
