to be honest, I had not spotted there was a 'special place' for that sort of thing BUT that should not mean a discussion in a 'general' area gets canned IMO

It could/would have let to others posting about non-regens though. Not that it bothers me anyway, but some people don't like that kind of thing.

This forum is FULL of discussions that could be argued to be about tactics, none of them have been closed?

I think you will find that you were asked to post in the Good Players forum-hardly concentration camp tactics

From what I've seen, the majority of the ones that are directly about tactics get told to go to the tactics forum, don't they?

I just find it ridiculously pedantic on here sometimes

It wasn't pedantic in the slightest, it was directly answering your point. People start threads that belong in other forums. They get told to post them in the other forums. Its how a properly run board should work.

I agree with the OP. We should close down all the other forums and lump them all together under one forum. That will make much more sense.

We should also get rid of the mods altogether; I mean, what gives them the right to try to keep order around here? If I want to post player tips in the tactics forum, tactics tips in the LLM forum, editor questions in GP&TG, etc. why shouldn't I? Is this the Soviet Union?!

I also think we should be able to drive on whatever side of the road we feel like and for that matter without tax, MOT or insurance...

Damn rules. Who needs 'em?

Don't want to start a debate on it because its all been said before but I very much agree. Theres 200 threads on the front page alone, if you don't like reading about players or tatics you can read a different one. The concern people show for a 'properly' regulated forum is ridiclous(look at 'These Forums,' less effort has gone into solving world hunger). I think forums work much better with minimal moderation, delete the stuff trying to sell viagra and leave the rest. But as I said in aformentioned thread, for some reason it seems to be a minority view so guess it must be accepted. These forums may be particularly bad, but to be fair that is probably just because they are particularly large and have alot of users.

Well if you read the forum rules then you'd know them. Also, if you looked on the front page you'd know there's a forum specifically entitled 'Good Player & Team Guide' that would be much better suited for the thread you started.

It takes less than five or ten minutes to familiarise yourself with the rules of the forum. If you can't abide by them then you don't deserve the ability to be able to post here.

I also don't know what you are getting so uptight about. You have been told where you can go to post the topic you want to talk about. Get over it.

Minimal moderation doesn't work on a forum with as many new posters starting topics for the first time, such as this one, and this has been shown in the last 18 months or so. The problem with simply saying that you can always read a different thread is that if they're allowed, this forum just gets clogged up with them. That's why the other forums are there.

I'm not intending this post to be particularly harsh or "I know best" btw, just that this forum used to be pretty good and the only way it can be that way again is if we have more moderators doing this sort of thing, hence the "These forums" thread.

I happen to agree that this place is, to be kind, inflexibly moderated. Whether its needs more mods, fewer mods, or simply fewer with a God complex, is hard to say. I think a problem is that people confuse support of these forums with support of FM as a game. You can be an ardent supporter of the latter, without insufferably brown-nosing in the former.

I think this thread should be closed because this discussion should go in the 'These Forums' topic.

I think the current Mods in here do a better than average job against all the odds.

I may not always agree with every decision but I would much rather they were there making the decisions, than the idiots were let loose to run the asylum.

We are working hard to try and keep GQ working in a regulated manner. If you read the 'This Forums' sticky you'll know the reason why. We have to be tougher across the board in order to get the forums working with the expected manner of thought and decency. Posts like yours will get closed and redirected to keep things tidy and manageable.

Posts like this one are not appreciated. We are doing are best to turn around the fourms and would appreciate people trying to understand that before posting blanket criticism. Please keep that in mind prior to posting. Thanks.
