Send to specialist?

Recommended Posts

Hi!

I was wondering if anyone knows if there is any downside to sending a player to a specialist? Sometimes you get the option of sending home or leaving to physio (shorter time injured vs. risk to spread virus) or giving injections (play next game vs. shorter time injured) but there appears to be no downside to sending to specialist so I was wondering why we are given the option. Anyone who knows?

According to the tooltip that pops up when you hover your cursor on the line, non-football costs are the wages for non-football staff (Charmain, DoF, maybe the Hot Dog Vendor, etc). I assumed the Specialist would fall under "Other" because he is not part of your corporate tree.

I would also think that time spent "away" from the club (specialist, at home, etc) would also mean that a player's attributes might drop faster/more than when treated by the physios, a variable which would probably be affected by his Professionalism and Natural Fitness, perhaps. This was discussed extensively a long, long time ago, possibly during FM08, heh. I can't say for sure that anyone ever proved this, but it's what I've gone with!

Actually I think this -might- depend on the injury, like I've seen a player suffer a 3-4 week arm injury, yet at the end of that month he still had a stat increase which surprised me but maybe SI has put in enough detail for such things. But if it's a serious injury that would require a specialist then he's certainly not going to be training either way, so it doesn't matter.

When have injections ever worked? I always end up with an unfit upset and underperforming player who is then out for longer. Seriously i wouldnt even use that for a major final

I've got them to work for smaller clubs. A couple of times in late-season battles at a smaller club, and once for a UEFA cup final.

I'll use the injections if a big match is coming up within the period he'd be out for. Haven't really had any problems with it, except if it becomes injection after injection.

Might depend a bit on the player's personality. One who "looks forward to the big matches" might be more willing to take the injections than someone who "doesn't relish the big occasions" or something.
