It's probably worth showing the career of (31a) Liam Watts (FIN) * who's media Description is "Nomadic Striker" and you can see why.

Just think of all the solidarity payments that could have been..

Total fees of £79m, so a reasonable amount that Crawley have stolen

Exactly. We earned not a single penny from him, ever. It's strange that as soon as we became a Football league club, turned "Pro" and had a legitimate "Academy", these foreign players promoted via our Academy seemed to stop almost overnight.

League 1. I've been waiting for us to "click", but it's just not happening. Our strikers usually score at about a rate of a goal a game in the 1st half a season, (before tailing off in the second half), but (39a) Harri (Pro) * has scored just 2 goals in our last 13 games and (34c) Guy Bacon (Driven) * just 3 goals.

Cup games. Tranmere are above us in the league so it's fair enough I suppose, but like I mentioned with regards to our league form, we're just not firing on all cylinders.

Facilities. Dec 2045.

We can't ask for more immediate upgrades to the facilities, but I have arranged these.

I'm not completely sure what impact the Youth Level has in game, but I "think" it relates to the level of compensation we receive.

Good GK maybe to challenge Ward at last

Yeah possibly.

We already have a little depth at GK.

(43f) Fabian (JAM) (Pro) is 1 of I think 4 Jamaican's who have come through recently and while he "might" have better PA, he still looks just a little raw at the moment. With (33e) Lee Ward (NIR) (Bal) being 29 now he's still got a few more years left in him, but i would like someone to challenge him soon. You might notice that Fabian's Pro has dropped from Pro to F.Pro where as Wards has increased from Bal to F.Pro. This will be due to the average Pro levels at the club being lower than "Pro" but higher than "Bal" I think.

(42d) Kamara (NIR) (Bal)'s High Injury chances put me off him a little bit, but he's actually developing ok. The rest are off the pace a little and won't be offered pro contracts.

53f5247d11b0d2faf31d294c06f962c6.png

But yeah, we've lost 2 good GK's in recent years, so a really good one capable of getting us promoted would be really cool.

Someone came in with an offer of about £1.7M a month or so ago. I don't want to sell him and he has 2+3 years left on his contract so I just stuck a £10M price tag on him, (reject all offers), and left it at that. The next thing I know they have offered us £9.25M for him.

In the past we would have definitely accepted this, (or rather we would have negotiated it to include add-ons), but he would definitely be going. Because of our financial stability however we don't have to sell him.

League 1. It's a bit of an improvement, but not anything special.

We're actually only 5 points adrift of the playoffs though, (call me an optimist), so with 12 games of the league season left I haven;t given up hope of squeezing in there.

My reason for posting this is because of (32a) Fredrik Jensen (NOR) *. I obviously identified him as a player with some potential, (because of the "*"), but for whatever reason he never really got a chance. I obviously preferred (33e) Lee Ward (NIR) (Bal), (who has just turned 29), and (30g) Tom Day (NIR) before him.

His PA is a whopping 120 which means I made a huge mistake in not playing him. There is a big difference between (32a) Fredrik Jensen (NOR) * at 120 PA and (30g) Tom Day (NIR) at 95 PA. It remains to be seen what the PA of (33e) Lee Ward (NIR) (Bal) is, and that's the only thing that might save my blushes.

120 PA is Championship good.

Youth Intake day. Mar 2046

We have 1x 5.0 PA player and that's good enough for me. Actually it's more than good enough because in line with recent discussions, this is a non-English player who also doesn't have English as a 2nd Nationality. It's typically these types of players who have been the real stars of the save so far.

(46a) Gérard (FRA) (F.Pro) is a 5.0 PA MC with a decent personality. He's a little raw, (especially physically), and although time will tell with regards to his development, the fact that he is not English actually really fills me with hope for him. I'm not saying that all non-English players are going to be brilliant, but his non-Englishness twinned with his 5.0 PA and the fact that he came through at (46a) certainly gives me reason for optimism.

Job offers. Mar 2046

looks like you need another big sale quickly or cash in some add-ons, can't be much money left after those upgrades.

Yeah, we were down to £16M bank balance at the end of the season and if we take off another £5.3M for the Academy next season and £4M for the upgraded facilities then that brings us down to £6.7M.

Money is vanishing pretty fast. I don't think I need a £10M sale this season, but I think I need at least a £5M sale just to keep us topped up and keep the Chairman away from incoming offers. Ideally we will sell a few different players this season actually. I will spend quite a while this close season looking at who it's best to sell based on current player valuations, (and interest), but also the youngsters we have on the production line behind them. I will probably try and do a "production line" post so that I can get it clear in my head but also give the rest of you a clearer idea of who we are selling and why.

I'm not keen to just sell the best players or the players who can generate the most income if we haven't got a player in the same position coming through to replace them. In contrast, if we have a few players in 1 position, maybe that would suggest players more likely to be sold.

are you able to resign any players? some of the players you have sold could still do a job for you at 30 (Liam Watts maybe)

I have just signed one, but the likes of Liam Watts will want too much money and I'm trying to keep a lid on wages at the moment.

2d68dc073c4faf448feab1fec68ee07f.png

That's a list of our ex-players listed by wage and you can see that (31a) Liam Watts (FIN) * is not on it. Despite that, he is currently being paid £20,500 per week so he should be on it. The fact that he isn't on it is possibly because his contract expires in 2 weeks.

642d0475782ec24a0b4d7ebb3834db4d.png

Watts isn't getting any younger and his physical ability is already on the want. On the wane to such an extent that if we don't sign him this season, I'm not sure he will be good enough to sign next season. He's not interested in joining us right now, but let's see how he feels when he is a free agent.

GK Production line. Jun 2046

e4fcce94bc579f55ab162cffbe5d995e.png

(33e) Lee Ward (NIR) (Bal) is our 1st choice GK and only 16 goals away from 100 career goals, (which is a milestone I would like to tick off in this save).

74599b604772ee2c57be59cc071d084d.png

(43f) Fabian (JAM) (Pro) is 2nd choice and looking decent. I'm not sure if I will be able to hold off 2 seasons before he becomes #1.

cde2f39f5d1d0bfcca452040c35c794b.png

(46d) Regan (Unamb) * is the only other GK at the club who has the potential to be a 1st team GK.

e4c62604ebc07b94a774c9e279ba3c87.png

We're not in a position to sell either of these 2 GK's, and anything we can get from them will be minimal.

(45a) Grainger (Amb) only made 1 league appearance this season, but he is in contention for being 1st choice already and has significant potential so I think he will be 1st choice next season.

82f051855f081dbef96bfbc1cebfd000.png

(42g) Gillespie (SCO) (L.Det) made 21(4) league appearances last season, but played poorly and I need to replace him. He's moved to Bal from L.Det but his mental attributes are still lacking a little. I'm going to list him for sale and see if I can get a bite.

5228ae2848ff5389dd1fc32371c41524.png

(38e) Hall (WAL) F.Pro 6'2" * is a centre-half rather than a left back, and I need him as a centre-half, but maybe I need to think about shifting him wider.

(42i) Scott Kay (Unamb) * spent the whole season in the U23's and I have just promoted him to the Senior squad.

147fba7f62adf3f6b2b74cba005f28b4.png

(40k) Barry (BEL) (F.Pro) SELL has been a regular squad player for a few years but the time is right to move him on if we can get some cash for him.

(41e) McKee. (N.Ire) (Fickle)(45o) Dabbur. (SWE)(PLE)(Unam) and (44m) Stirling. (SCO) (Cas), are all not in contention and I will happily move them on.

(45b) Kendall (F.Amb) seems to have come from nowhere and although I see him as a centre-back I wonder if he could play at right back while developing.

(38a) Usman (SWE) Bal * played as a right-back while he was developing, but is a regular in midfield now.

(34b) Sam Siddons (Pro) * has just re-joined us after 9 seasons away.

8148118ec86ecba8b47d48dce17f099c.png

4d99dd6c4cf56964551ebe8b223e8592.png

(43j) Richard Jenkins * is a player I really like. I rotated him between right back and right midfield last season, but I think I will restrict him to just right back next season. The problem with this is that he is our Long Throw specialist and this works better from midfield.

e71a920c1ee3e44de45f42608c897499.png

(36d) Rey Thomas (BEL)(F.Det)* is a player I like, but I think I need to move him on. I really only need 2 players in each slot and then we will make-do with what we need after that.

57e53a1b8fc9ce025f046d5d86937ff4.png

(46i) McMillan. (L.Det)(44f) Lawton. (Cas) * and (45l) Douglas. (Cas) are all out of contention, largely I'm afraid to say because of their personalities.

(45b) Kendall (F.Amb) has come from nowhere. He made 1 single league appearance last season and wasn't even in contention 12 months ago. Now he tops the CA list. I really dropped the ball last season in not playing him more. His development has been remarkable.

fb0edf5bc0441848289dcb03f4d09474.png

(42a) Kelly (NIR)(F.Amb)6'4" * was our #1 centre-half last season and I think where we were lacking was his partner. With Kendall now in contention, I wonder if our defensive record might improve next season and I'm hopeful of where that might take us.

53f457cafc0c5b3e4dbeedb11f650701.png

(43a) Cresswell (F.Det) * is another who has come on leaps and bounds over the last season.

fcd46def88c315b947d3c41e06f5b28f.png

(44d) Gough (LIB)(F.Amb)6'1" * is ranked as our 4th best centre-half, and that's concerning when you consider that he has spent the season on loan at Conference National.

0b10d43b1b1baf080dc19d7b80a86285.png

(41f) Phillips. (F.Det) 6'4" * is ranked 5th and I'm going to try to sell him.

(38e) Hall (WAL) F.Pro 6'2" * is someone who I have relied upon, but he has slipped down the pecking order. Maybe I could use him at left back after all.

8a94f1c847f3195659c092466783e4ff.png

(45g) Lloyd (F.Det) * is going to stay in the U18's for 1 more season before being sent out on loan.

(41j) Campbell. (SCO) (Bal) * is not going to make it and needs to be sold.

(37l) Sharman. (Res) 6'2" is going to be sold.

(36h) Fríði. (FRO) (Unamb) * is about to be released.

(45c) Pantano (ITA) (Bal) is going to stay in the U18's for 1 more season before being loaned out.

(43h) Liam Bell. (Det) 6'4" is going to be sold or released.

(40g) Doyle. (Unamb) 6'5" hasn't developed at all how I would like and is not going to make it. He's going to be sold or released.

(37d) McGann. (WAL) (F.Spor) is going to be sold or released.

(46b) Varallo (AUS) (Unamb) is going to stay in the U18's for 1 more season before being loaned out.

Finally caught up with this, it's amazing!

Going to start my own final FM save, with @lionel messiL11 database. Just trying to decide which club to go with, and going to do my first ever youth only game.

Thanks very much.

I'm surprised at quite how many people have enjoyed this thread. Youth Only certainly seems to be attracting a much larger audience.

Good lick with your save. Please link me in to the opening post if you are creating your own thread so that I can follow from the start.

@Jimbokav1971Will do. Have narrowed it down to 8(!) clubs and letting the wisdom of the crowds decide.

I think one reason you've got a big following is because of how fast you're progressing/updating.

8 clubs?  Just make sure that you also consider such basic things as club colours because you will be stuck with them for a long time.

I'm not sure I have been updating any quicker than normal. I think I have probably played this save slower than I did the Welsh save. Maybe it's starting so low down that has been the attraction.

Transfer problems. Jun 2046

As I have been going through the "Production Line" position by position, I have offering players our for loan and sale and come across a problem. I'm offering players out and including 50% clauses and a friendly, (but nothing else), but absolutely every single offer than I have had for any GK or defender in response has been a non-negotiable flat fee. Initially I decided to offer them out for a lower amount and include the 50% and friendly, but this just results in the bid then being lower, but still non-negotiable. In many cases I would rather sell the player for £0 and have a 50% and friendly clause inserted. The balance just doesn't seem right.

If I make the offer out non-negotiable, then it doesn't seem to make a difference.

It's getting to the stage where I think I'm going to have to just accept the cash and not get either the 50% or the friendly, but that throws a huge spanner in my strategy.

I've narrowed them down to places I'd live/nearby, so close to the South Wales border near Filton, Shrewsbury, and Manchester! Was tempted to go with only hyper local teams, but none appealed.

Unlike you, I prefer it with badges, so each team I've chosen has them, and other than Maine Road, all have active Twitter accounts, to maximise my immersion.

Haven't gone so far as to look at houses in the local area, but I'm tempted 😂

Probable best thing is to judge each on a case by case basis - I know PPA stars are a joke but think about if you're likely to get any more from a % than a flat fee, is the club large enough that a friendly is going to net you more than the fee being offered, etc.

What's right for one transfer may not be right for another, mate

@Jimbokav1971 the best way to offload players I found is to offer out for transfer with unspecified transfer fee which will just make the teams offer something negotiable and on rare occasion something non-negotiable but in most cases you can negotiate a deal. Another, sometimes even better way, of offloading players which would not fetch high transfer fees or clauses is loaning players out. Loan out for full wages (100% covered by the club that loans in the player) and set a monthly fee of 150k/month and you have to target all the nations you have loaded. If you get no offers you can go down in 25k increments for every time you get no offer for loan. I have managed to grab multiple 150k/month fees with full wages in my Famalicao save for players that are worth 100-200k at most and would get 50% of that on transfers. If you need screenshots of how loaning out would work let me know and I can jump in FM quickly and grab that for you.

That's a really reasoned and well balanced position.

Unfortunately I want a "one size fits all" solution.

You are right though. It's just that I don't even seem to be able to give players away with add-ons at the moment, (but have only looked at GK's and defenders so far).

Yeah, I've definitely used loans as an income stream to great effect before, but the players I'm loaning out are not at that level I'm afraid. We are playing players in our 1st team who are often League 2/Conference level, so the players we are loaning out are really not going to bring in the big bucks. I will certainly be doing that as the save progresses though.

With regards to..... "offer out for transfer with unspecified transfer fee", would you mind going into some more detail here. I'm not sure what you mean and I don't think I have ever done this before.

So I go to offer a player out and instead of offering a player out for say £10k plus 50% and a friendly I do what exactly?

Oh I see. I set it to unspecified and then also make sure that there is no asking price set. I don't think I have ever used that before. Very interesting. :applause:

I'm off to have a play and will report back.

I have fired up the FM just to screenie you players I have loaned out. I also target countries like China, Turkey, Sweden, Austria for loaning out cos they seem to always have some interest in my players. I think I had combined of 250 offers for the 4 lads on 150k/month fees.

As you can see Coutinho is the worst of the bunch and is worth only 525 euros! And yet I managed to grab 150k/month in fees from Wuhan for him. I think it is worth a try to try and loan out players for these fees if you do not have them in plan

And this is what I meant by unspecified but I think you figured that out

And for loaning out for targets like so
