Long throws. Nov 2044

We score a lot of goals from set pieces in general, but long throws in particular. This could be an interesting development.

(43j) Richard Jenkins * is a DR that I have high hopes for, but I've also been using him in the MR slot. There is a risk with full-backs taking long throws because my set-up only has the opposite full back defending, so I quite like the idea of him playing further forward.

League 1. We were on the end of a 9-goal thriller against Coventry, but after that 2 more wins move us to within 3 points of the Playoffs.

Cup games. Because there is no pressure on us to do anything in the league other than avoid relegation, I'm able to prioritise the Cup competitions and it's going well.

Spanner in the works of poor discipline record. Dec 2044

(35c) Craig Barnett (Unamb) * was on course for setting a ridiculous ill-discipline record, but being absent for 5 weeks covering Christmas and New Year will likely but a stop to that.

89a14a9bbfc4bc57df175b5529e89d8b.png

He has collected 12 yellows and 1 red in 13(5) appearances, and has also been booked in his only appearance in both the FA Cup and Carabao Cup. He epitomises everything that I love about are aggressive play in this save. Unfortunately I think he will miss 6 league games and at least 2 Cup games.

League 1. We've stumbled a little in recent weeks. We've lost our 1st choice left winger to injury and our 1st choice right winger to suspension and our back-ups are not as strong.

Away to Man City should be a decent chunk of cash at least, which you don't need as much as you did before but must be welcome all the same.

The money isn't going to last for ever so I haven't stopped looking after the pennies. My 1st thought when I saw we had drawn Man City was kerrrching!

League 1. It's been a tough month. 9 games in a month is tough for anyone, but especially so for our young squad. The good news is that we managed 3 wins and while we drop away from the Playoff zone on points, (the gap is now 9 points), we are still sitting in a respectable 10th spot.

Cup games. We kept up our good run of results against U23 sides, but Birmingham were too good for us on the day.

Think that 8th is realistic and achievable position this season for you. Hopefully you are not stuck in the L1 for too long

I don't think that the Playoffs are completely ruled out yet. Our form has been really hindered by injury, suspensions and progress in the Cups, (where we have already played 12 extra games).

Now that we are out of all 3 and players are returning from injury I would hope that we can get a run of form going again.

(39a) Harri (Pro) * has scored 15 goals in 22(3) league appearances, but I've mentioned before that his form really seems to drop off in the latter part of the season. I've made a real point of trying to rest him this season and he has made 26(6) appearances out of a total of 43 games, (so I have managed to rest him completely on 11 occasions.

(34c) Guy Bacon (Driven) * has scored 13 goals in 24(2) league appearances but has scored 19 goals in 28(4) appearances in all competitions, meaning that I have also managed to rest him on 11 occasions too.

If I can keep them performing over the rest of the season then anything is possible.

Something that I don't think I have mentioned before is that I'm a fan of partnerships in the game. What I mean by that is that if we have 4 strikers at the club who I usually rotate, I rotate them in pairs rather than just drop 1 at a time. Of course there are times when this isn't possible, but as a general rule if 1 is available for a single game then I also drop the other player too. This doesn't work all over the pitch but I do try and do it for the following positions.

DL-ML
DR-MR
DC-DC
MC-MC
SC-SC

I'm pretty good with keeping the centre-back, centre-mid and striker partnerships, but the amount of suspensions and fatigue involved in the wide areas mean that I struggle to keep those partnerships together.

New club record league appearance Record. Feb 2045.

(33e) Lee Ward (NIR) (Bal) has set a new club league appearance record with 384. I wasn't really expecting it, but when you look at his history and see that this is the 9th full season then I should have seen it coming. I think because I dropped him a couple of seasons ago, (for the Colombian who was then sold), I've sort of forgotten how long he has been around for. He's up to 72 career goals now from a total of 464 appearances in all competitions. The fact that he has made 80 Cup appearances shows how well we have done in the Cups over the last decade or so.

Despite all his appearances and his goals, GK is actually a weak area for the club at the moment. I decided in 2042 that he wasn't good enough, but there was more competition back then than there is now.

Youth Intake preview. Dec 2044

An English centre-half in a Golden Generation. We shall see.......

Youth Intake day. Mar 2045

The preview suggested a Golden Generation and the actual intake states it again, but I look at the PA of the intake and am dismayed that there are no 5.0 PA players. :( It could be that the Golden Generation tag is wrong, or it could be that the PA is wrong.

The other thing to consider is the players with the best CA and PA  at the club .

All squads by CA. The best players at the club, (by CA), have 3.5 CA and there are 3 of them, (1 of whom is on loan). Looking at the max CA at the club, (just 2 permanent players at 3.5 and 8 more at 3.0), it would seem reasonable to suggest that the squad is still very much "PA dominant" rather than "CA dominant" as we would like.

db8468e890b6ec4aae5e724727c55627.png

All squads by PA. We have just 5 players at the club with 5.0 PA which surprises me actually and it's something I have lost sight of recently.

(45a) Grainger (Amb). I really like some of his attributes. Natural Fitness, Balance, (I have mentioned Balance recently), Decisions & Tackling, but they appear to make him a little more conservative than I would like. Free Kick Taking of 15 is a complete waste, (because he's not a GK), and I also wonder if it's "weighted" in that it uses up some of his CA. He's not awful, but he;s not amazing either.

bf25543e424ea981011119ece90775de.png

(45b) Kendall (F.Amb). He looks great physically for a 16 year old and even better mentally. Wow. I really like the look of this bloke.

ff51980b11af6413bddcafd94d4062b2.png

(45f) Tucker (Unamb). Not great physically, and really quite poor mentally, but I like his technical attributes and although we've had quite a few physical strikers, we haven't had a really good technical one. (At least not one that has stayed at the club for very long).

Hi lads and everyone else.

I'm away for a few days so wont be posting updates but might be playing the odd game or 2.

I will do some sort of update next week when I'm back depending in how far I've got.

@DSousa06I will respond to your question when I'm back.

@Sonic YouthI will have a look at the centre half when I'm back home but my GK's take indirect free-kick too so not sure it will help too much.

See ya next week.

I've finished the 2044/45 season and will update the thread with the info required to update the Tracker when I'm back next week.

Nothing significant to report other than that I have had 3 more Facility Upgrades agreed. Youth Recruitment, Youth Facilities and Training Facilities.

The combined cost of all 3 was approx £3.5M

Nothing else to report other than that we missed out on The Playoffs and it wasnt really close in the end despite our form being reasonable.

I'm having a lovely time but tomorrow is meant to be very wet so I might get some more playing time in.

Basic Season Summary. May 2045.

Finished 9th in League 1 with 66 points.

Club value. £43.31M

Bank Balance. £26.5M

Wage budget. £148k.

Transfer budget. £19M.

Facilities. 8.10.20.17 with both Youth and Training Facilities currently underway.

GoalScoringKeeper(33e) LeeWard (NIR) (F.Pro) scored 9 goals this season. 7 from 9 penalties and 2 free kicks. He also created 2 assists.

Discipline. (35c) Craig Barnett (Bal) topped the card count with 17 yellows and 1 red, which is impressive when you consider he only made 26(7) appearances from a possible 56 games.

Team Discipline. We set a new League 1 Record with 152 yellows and 6 reds, but were only joint 4th on the red card list.

We can add 32 yellows to that for yellows collected in Cup competitions and that gives us a final Card count of 184/6.

Avg attendance was down slightly from last season at 4,262.

(33e) Lee Ward (NIR) (F.Pro) now holds the record for League appearances with 392 but has actually made 458 appearances for us in all competitions.

I think that's just about everything I need to update the Tracker next week.

Forgot to include reputation. This has has a significant increase which is a little bit of a surprise. Its risen from Regional (3,454) to Regional (4,415).

We're still playing at the same level as last season so maybe finances play a part in the reputation calculation, (and now I type that it actually rings a bell too).

Poached. May 2045.

We've had 2 more poached player come through other intakes. I know this because I can see them on the clauses screen and they dont have nicknames. I was only waiting for 1 to come through so must have missed the other message

(HG44) Aldo Kaja (F.Pro) was the kids that came through at Notts Co. I've already shown you him and he's not very good.

(HG45) Luke Masters (L.self-belief) is a 16 yo old English ML. His CA is 46 and his PA is 89. He came through the intake at League 2 Lincoln. I find it 'interesting' that a player can be poached by a lower ranked club, but of course we were in League 2 a couple of seasons ago and Lincoln were in League 1 last season so maybe that makes more sense. In any case, he's not exactly amazing so who cares.

(HG45) George Matthew's (Unamb) is an name I think I recognise so I think this was the player I was waiting to come through. He's a 16 year old centre-half. His CA is 31 and his PA is 99. He cane through the Intake at League 2 Bradford City

Clauses. May 2045.

We have 20 clauses outstanding for 6 products of our Academy, (plus 30 for the 3 poached players), but there are no deals being offered on any of them right now.

40% profit on (42c) Goodridge (Wal) (Res) could be interesting and 50% on (38c) McCormack (IRL) (Bal) too are the main ones to keep an eye on as they are valued at £2.2M and £1.4M

1st of all they nicked (40c) Paul Stovell (Bal) before I could sign him to a Pro contract.

2nd they were the 1st club to poach one of our players in (HG44 Aldo Kaja (F.Pro).

Now they have just poached another player on 05.06.2045.

Loan players. Jun 2045.

Something that I have never really included in my updates is the players we send out on loan each season. It started off quite small but as the average level of player we produce has improved, so we are able to send more and more fringe players out on loan.

At the end of the 2044/45 season we have 19 players out on loan.

From now on I am going to have to include that in the end of season update I think.

 Faclities Upgrade. Jun 2045.

Data Analýsis is being upgraded and I've also managed to persuade the board to let us have an affiliate club with a view to us securing 1st options on players from a successful Academy, (which I think is foreign). We only have the English structure loaded though so I full expect the board to come back with 0 options.

[Edit]

It's possible that I pressed the wrong button, but the board have come back with 4 English options for an affiliate club

Brightlingsea Regent play in Conference South and their facilities are 1.1.5.5.

Histon play in the lower leagues and their Facilities are 4.4.8.8.

Kettering Town are local to us and play in the BetVictor Premier Div South which is directly below Conference North/South and no longer active to help with proceeding times. Their facilities are 6.6.10.9.

Corby Town are another local side who play 2 leagues lower than Kettering I think. Their facilities are 1.4.7.3.

Kempstom Rovers play at a low level and their Facilities are 3.1.2.2.

Despite the fact that Kettering play in an inactive League, I still think it's worth picking then and I will see how it goes. I can always re-add that level if I want.

Clauses. Aug 2045.

Watford of the Championship have just paid us £525,000 because (42c) Goodridge (WAL) (Driven) has made his 10th league appearance for them.

We have a 40% profit clause on him that we can sell for £2.58M, but because we don't need the money I'm able to just leave it and hopefully we will earn more from him in the future. He was signed for £2.9M so I think that he has to go for about £9.3M for us to make more than the £2.58M we are being offered, (which seems high), but I have double-checked althoughbits possible that my brain isnt working this morning. 😂

Could you poach the player back as soon as they are signed? How much compensation would you end up paying?

I've never been successful in being able to sign them back.

Usually they have to have a higher reputation at the point that the player is poached and then although that it takes 2 or 3 years before they come through the intake somewhere, when you try and approach them they think that they have just left us and joined the new club.

League games. A but mixed to say the least. Our discipline "prowess" certainly hasn't helped us, and to be honest I absolutely love it. A poor start to the season but we have picked up a little since then and I think we are on track despite the loss to Chester.

Sept 2045.

League 1. We're still stumbling along a little. I think I'm possibly favouring potential over ability in my team selection and we are paying a bit of a p[rice for that, but it's a price worth paying. I'm just not sure that I have the balance completely right yet. Injuries aren't helping and suspensions are obviously as big a problem as usual, (but you will never find me complaining about suspensions in this save).

(38b) Kuchar (CZE) (Bal) * has only played 1 game so far this due to injury and his central midfield partner (38a) Usman (SWE) Bal * has started 8 league games this season, but will be out for about 3 months now. :(
