Brazil's XI in training and also the lineup against Austria on Sunday:

Quote

Alisson; Danilo, Thiago Silva, Miranda, Marcelo; Casemiro; Paulinho, Coutinho, Willian, Neymar; Gabriel Jesus

Marquinhos definitely dropped to bench.

A decent squad and I really like Coutinho and Neymar... but this is not the exciting Brazil squad I'm used to. Need to hope there is a new batch of wonderkids capable of a quick rise to the first team. Vinicius Junior perhaps.

Has Fernandinho underperformed for Brazil? Would always think he’d start over Casemiro. Like Casemiro in what he brings, but the guy can be a high liability and it’s not like the guy who could replace him is worse.

Agree. In terms of club form I'd drop Casemiro for Fernandinho too, but like you, no idea about national performances.

Casemiro getting rid of the competition? :)

Fred is regarded more as a competition for Fernandinho than for Casemiro but maybe he deep down really wants to be a starter no matter what.

What's your best 11?

On a side note the Norway v Brasil old boys revenge match is on! 0-0 after 15 minutes. :)

They're not as fat as I thought they'd be! :D

The best 11, with the players in the squad would be similar to the current starting 11:

Alisson; Danilo, Marquinhos, Miranda, Marcelo; Casemiro, Paulinho, Coutinho, Willian, Neymar and Gabriel Jesus

The main difference is that Marquinhos is a bench warmer now. And Willian is not certain to start as Fernandinho may start instead of him.

Brazil better beat Norway this time!

Rivaldo looking fit, Ronaldo appears to be the manager. :)

That's unusual, is Dunga playing?

He would be the logical manager.

Gabriel finished us off with a cracking goal from 50 yards. He wasn't in the 98 game though, cheats.

0-3 FT

Sorry for cluttering your thread. :)

At least for once Brazil beat Norway.

Rotating captains? Is that a thing, or just because the other captain is benched?

It's done on purpose. Brazil have had 16 different captains or so since Tite became manager. Gabriel Jesus was the captain against Croatia last weekend, for instance.

Looks like a thing! :)

Only the English are concerned about captains anyway. Even so, 16 seems a bit unnecessary.

Yes, leadership is one thing, being captain is another.

The only real advantage of being Brazilian captain is to lift the trophy if Brazil win the title.

Want him signed on name alone.

Can you imagine the cross-over content that would be created!

Fans would no doubt love him!

Neymar's staff said that Neymar was not supposed to participate in the whole training today due to the pains caused by the fouls last Sunday. They will say he will train tomorrow and that there is nothing to worry about.

That's really weird practice IMO. It's like they're kids and Tite is giving everyone captaincy so someone doesn't get mad and throw a fit.

Captaincy is not as important in Brazil as it is in England, you can be a leader without being a captain. Being captain matters mostly to lift the trophy in the end.

Brazil expected to keep the same lineup from previous games against Costa Rica tomorrow:

Guess you guys played against them in qualification... Any chance for a upset? :)

They are from CONCACAF so we didn't meet them in the Qualifiers, but I think it will not be as easy in practice as it looks on paper.

Well, that's embarrassing... My geography need some work :D

I'd actually like that you guys and we win tomorrow so our duel in the last round would be formality... Wishful thinking though, Switzerland are formidable, expecting to beat us 1-0 or something. They just look so well drilled.

Douglas Costa will miss Brazil's upcoming game against Serbia due to a thigh muscle injury.

Danilo is still injured, so Corinthians' right-back Fagner will start against Serbia too. :)

Brazil manager Tite has confirmed the lineup for the game vs Serbia tomorrow, it's the same 11 that started vs Costa Rica. Miranda will be the captain this time:

Quote

Alisson; Fagner, Thiago Silva, Miranda, Marcelo; Casemiro; Willian, Paulinho, Coutinho, Neymar; Gabriel Jesus

Marcelo was Brazil's captain in the first game (Switzerland), Thiago Silva in the second game (Costa Rica) and now Miranda in the third game (Serbia).
