VfB RAMMSTEIN

Swansea City 0-1 VfB Rammstein (Defour)

VfB Rammstein 2-0 Bristol City (Tevez, Marchisio)

Blackpool 1-2 VfB Rammstein (Tevez, Palacios)

SUMMARY:

Joga Bonitos Juniors and VfB Rammstein lead the way at the top of the Coca Cola Championship with a 100% record so far after five games. The Joga Juniors lead on goals scored but both teams will be delighted with their starts although VfB Rammstein will be aware that they haven’t played any of the other big guns so far. The other three big guns sit in the Play Offs with only Ipswich Town sandwiched between them and it already looks ominous for the rest of the division. Melbourne remain unbeaten after dropping their only points in a draw with Fanghunters whereas Canadian Mighty Squirrels will be disappointed with their 4-1 drubbing at Fanghunters although they have won every other game. Fanghunters are in sixth on 10 points but have already played three of the other big teams and will be happier now they have beaten one with that 4-1 win over the Squirrels. It looks set to be a great fight for promotion to the Premier League.

Welcome to SPORTS.tv live from the RICOH Arena in Coventry. Tonight, it’s the Sky Blues of Coventry against Premiership opposition in Blackthorn United live and exclusive in the final remaining League Cup Round 2 tie. With all the Premiership sides – apart from Sheffield Wednesday – already through to Round 3, Blackthorn will be hoping to ensure their progress into the last thirty-two with a win tonight.

C.C.F.C. VS. BlackthornAthletic.png

Coventry City vs. Blackthorn Athletic

Welcome to the RICOH Arena where Coventry are aiming to put their poor Championship start behind them with a cup upset tonight. Blackthorn’s UEFA Cup exploits have meant the game has had to be delayed until now but tonight the final place in Round 3 is to be determined.

Let’s look at the team’s starting with the line-up for Coventry City. Highly rated keeper Keiran Westwood starts in goal, experienced full backs Stephen Wright and Marcus Hall are joined in defence by Ben Turner and Elliott Ward, David Bell, Michael McIndoe, Bryan Hughes and Sammy Clingan are in midfield with Lewis Grabban and Freddy Eastwood up front.

Athletic come to the RICOH looking to avoid an upset and pick a strong side to do that. Rene Adler starts in goal with a defence in front of Graeme Murty, Jlloyd Samuel, Nicola Legrottaglie and Joleon Lescott. In midfield, Andy Van Der Meyde, Hatem Ben Arfa, Mathieu Bodmer and Danny Murphy with Francesco Totti and Bobby Zamora up front.

The first half is coming live after the break. Stay tuned!

Great work so far GCB, loving it!

nearly as good as my Ireland and Higuian Combo lol

Great to see us winning, but I think Fanghunters are in the best position to win the League as things stand - Lets just hope i can get achieve the results he has against the other T2B sides.

BTW who is championships top scorer atm? Van Nistelrooy?

But for now, while it lasts

'Shout we are top of the league Shout we are top of the league!!!!'

LEAGUE CUP LIVE

C.C.F.C. VS. BlackthornAthletic.png

Coventry City vs. Blackthorn Athletic

A full house here at the RICOH Arena as the Sky Blues, Coventry City, face Blackthorn Athletic of the Premiership in the League Cup Round 2 with City looking for a Premiership scalp. With a place in Round 3 up for grabs – and we can reveal now that the reward would be a home tie against Brennan United – there is sure to be a massive effort from both teams looking for a good cup run this season. Blackthorn Athletic will be hoping to get their first win of the domestic season after a good UEFA Cup win was followed by three Premiership defeats whilst Coventry are also looking for a win to give them some confidence after a poor start in the Championship.

23 mins:

A dull start to the game in a frenzied atmosphere here at the RICOH but the first chance of the match ends in the first goal. A great run down the right by Van Der Meyde for Blackthorn allowed him to find Murty overlapping on the right and his cross was met with a glancing header by FRANCESCO TOTTI who found the bottom corner of Westwood’s goal.

Coventry City 0-1 Blackthorn Athletic

34 mins:

A good ball into the middle from Michael McIndoe finds the head of Freddy Eastwood whose header is blocked by Blackthorn’s defender, Lescott, and back into the path of Eastwood who inexplicably fires the ball wide. A major let-off for Blackthorn.

44 mins:

It’s been a quiet half so far but Coventry escape heading into half time 2 down thanks to their goalkeeper, Westwood. It was that man Totti again who swerved past Ben Turner in the Sky Blues defence and hit a low drive that was palmed around the post by Westwood in the goal – great save.

HALF TIME: A half with not many chances but Blackthorn Athletic won’t mind after their recent poor form. They lead 1-0 thanks to a goal from Francesco Totti.

LEAGUE CUP LIVE

C.C.F.C. VS. BlackthornAthletic.png

Coventry City vs. Blackthorn Athletic

Welcome back to the RICOH Arena where Blackthorn Athletic lead Coventry City 1-0 at half time. In a poor game so far, Athletic have managed to get the goal that their performance just about deserved. Coventry need a marked improvement if they are to upset their Premiership visitors and face Brennan United in the third round.

50 mins:

Corner from the left for Coventry who have had the better of the opening exchanges in the second half. McIndoes floats the ball to the back post and GRABBAN heads the ball home for the Sky Blues to equalise. Completely free in the box, Samuel is to blame there for missing the cross and allowing Ben Turner, the City forward, to head home.

Coventry City 1-1 Blackthorn Athletic

54 mins:

Good response from Blackthorn as they go close to re-establishing their lead. Totti this time creating the chance with a through ball and Zamora firing the ball against the post.

56 mins:

Another near miss for Blackthorn and again it is Zamora with the chance. Bodmer’s cross from the right found Zamora twelve yards out but his header was straight at Westwood. Good chance.

75 mins:

Massive let off for Coventry again as Blackthorn miss another chance to go in front again. A mazy run from Hatem Ben Arfa led to a free kick on the edge of the area which Ben Arfa took himself and smashed against Westwood’s cross bar before City cleared.

78 mins:

PENALTY! From a Coventry corner, Francesco Totti brings down the dangerous Freddy Eastwood and the referee – Howard Webb – has no doubts and awards the penalty.

79 mins:

It’s going to be Freddy Eastwood against Rene Adler from the spot. A massive moment for City who would be on the verge of a famous win and a massive moment for Blackthorn who need a win today to kick-start their season. It’s Eastwood .... And he fires it wide! It remains 1-1!

89 mins:

With time ticking away, Blackthorn come close to a late winner. A good ball from Totti again to Ben Arfa whose cross is headed away to Bodmer on the edge of the area but his strike flies just wide of the Coventry goal. Coventry will make a triple substitution with Clingan, Hughes and the goalscorer Grabban replaced by Bridcutt, Celades and Leon Best.

90+2 mins:

Another wasted opportunity for Blackthorn and Bobby Zamora. Again through on goal thanks to a beauty of a ball from Danny Murphy, the striker lifted the ball over the keeper and just wide of the post. It’s going to be extra time! Stay tuned for coverage of the Extra Time period.

LEAGUE CUP LIVE

C.C.F.C. VS. BlackthornAthletic.png

Coventry City vs. Blackthorn Athletic

The ninety minutes are up here at the RICOH Arena and the two sides are locked level so we are heading to extra time to settle this League Cup Round 2 tie and, whisper it quietly, maybe penalties if needed. Blackthorn’s first half lead given to them by Francesco Totti has been cancelled out by Lewis Grabban’s fiftieth minute leveller and despite a host of chances for the Premiership side, it was Coventry who had the best chance as Freddy Eastwood missed a 79th minute penalty that could have sent them through. Will he regret that miss? Let’s see.

96 mins:

Free kick for Blackthorn on the left hand side is floated in towards the back post where it is met by JOLEON LESCOTT who heads home into the corner to make it 2-1 to Blackthorn. No, wait a moment. Offside given. Lescott is not impressed with the decision – controversy here at the RICOH Arena.

105 mins:

It’s half time in extra time and no further chances. Still no substitutions made by Blackthorn Athletic. Are we heading for a penalty shoot-out?

108 mins:

A second yellow card for Francesco Totti after a foul on Elliott Ward sees the Italian striker – and Blackthorn’s goalscorer – sent off and Athletic down to ten men. What will happen now? Jlloyd Samuel and Legrottaglie also head for the sidelines to be replaced by Jermaine Beckford and Jay Tabb.

111 mins:

Coventry doing all the pressing but a superb break by Blackthorn almost brought a second goal. A one-two between Beckford and Zamora saw the former Leeds striker in on goal down the left channel but his shot was saved well by Westwood and out for a corner.

112 mins:

Coventry City take the lead with 8 minutes left! A corner from the right taken by David Bell and attacked by BEN TURNER, the Coventry central defender, who outjumped the goalkeeper and nodded the ball home to send the Coventry fans bonkers. They are so close to a massive upset now.

116 mins:

Another great run by Hatem Ben Arfa as Blackthorn look to get back into the game ends with a crude challenge from Coventry goalscorer Ben Turner. It is his second yellow card and he follows Francesco Totti down the tunnel for an early bath. Ben Arfa is stood over the free kick but he leaves it to BODMER who curls it home from 25 yards! An equaliser for Blackthorn Athletic four minutes from time!

END OF EXTRA TIME:

Blackthorn will not know whether to feel disappointed that it needs a penalty shoot out or delighted to have chance from a penalty shoot out! They have – in truth – dominated the game and should have won but needed that late Mathieu Bodmer free kick to rescue a 2-2 draw. Can they complete the job on penalties?

PENALTIES:

First up in the penalty shoot out is Coventry City’s Freddy Eastwood. He missed a penalty during normal time and steps up now ... and scores. Low into the bottom corner of Rene Adler’s goal. 1-0 to Coventry.

Blackthorn’s first penalty will be taken by late substitute Jermaine Beckford. The striker steps up ... Saved by Kieran Westwood! A save low down to his right gives the Sky Blues the advantage.

Can Coventry make it 2-0 and leave Blackthorn’s next taker under immense pressure? Up steps Elliott Ward, the centre back. He scores! Smashes it down the middle and Adler dives left and it is 2-0 in the shoot-out.

Here comes Danny Murphy. All the pressure in the world on him now but he has scored some important penalties over the years. Will he score this one? Yes he will. Tucks it away in the bottom corner. 2-1 to Coventry.

Next up is Michael McIndoe, the Sky Blues left winger. Left footed he will take the penalty .... And he fires it over the bar! Coventry lose the advantage now if Blackthorn score their next penalty.

It’s going to be Bobby Zamora. He has had a tough evening missing three good chances for the Rose Bushes but could make it much better if he scores this. And he does! Keeper Westwood dives the right way but Zamora’s strike is past him in a heartbeat and it is 2-2.

Albert Celades, the Spanish midfielder, will take City’s fourth penalty. He steps up, all goes quiet ... In off the post, good penalty for Celades. 3-2 to Coventry and the pressure is raised again on Blackthorn.

Hatem Ben Arfa, the man of the match for Athletic, will try to make it 3-3 from the spot now. He steps up and sends the keeper the wrong way. Good penalty and now it is 3-3.

Stephen Wright, the former Sunderland full back will take Coventry City’s last penalty of the regulation five. Can he score and put the Premiership team into sudden death or will he give them a chance to win. Wright steps up and ... scores! Smashes it low and hard into the corner of the net, no chance Adler. 4-3 to Coventry and Blackthorn have got to score this penalty.

It will be Mathieu Bodmer, the man who rescued them a penalty shoot-out with that superb free kick late on in extra time. Can he save them now? He steps up to take the penalty ...... Saved by Westwood! Coventry City have knocked out Premiership Blackthorn Athletic on penalties in the 2nd Round of the League Cup and will host Brennan United in Round 3. Massive disappointment for Blackthorn who have lost three out of three in the Premiership and now are out of the League Cup as well.

Now for the League Cup Round 3 draw:

Didsbury Dynamoes vs. Essex Eagles

Melbourne vs. Inland Valley Hawks

Watford vs. Welsh Wizards

Canadian Mighty Squirrels vs. Isle of Man Metros

Northern Extreme vs. Boreham Badgers

New Bloc vs. Derby County

VfB Rammstein vs. Queensland Origin

Bristol City vs. London Titans

Gnome’ania United vs. Essendon

Joga Bonitos Juniors vs. Saffron United

Tibbolini vs. Coedpoeth United

"Thorn must improve" states Lannock

10za61u.jpg

After their crushing penalty shootout defeat at the hands of Coventry City Blackthorn Athletic manager Sirus Lannock gave this interview to a local interview

WOTN- Sirus, its great to finally get a chance to speak with you

SL- Bloody press

WOTN- So what did you make of tonights game

SL- I expected a lot better. However this mickey mouse cup is only a distraction. We have bigger fish to fry.

WOTN- This defeat also comes at a time where you sit bottom of the premiership

SL- As a former striker myself i know that you need to score goals to stand any chance in this league. I'm being forced to play bobby zamora for christs sake

WOTN- So are you saying that you'll be looking to make some changes

SL- See, this is why i hate you people. If this team dont get me a top half finish at the very least this season then theyll all be out on their arses.

WOTN- Thank you for your time Mr Lannock

Queensland absolutely Crushed 4-0 by Inland Valley, so much for being a tight defensive side!!

Ahh, it's only a game :D

KUTGW GCB!

Would I suggest we somehow smuggle Ingliss into the side as an AMC and Big Mal as one of the coaching staff. If anything it will create a certainly more physical side. :p

Folau and Hunt on the wings, with Lockyer at DMC supplying the passes and creating magic!

Now that would be a winning formula!

Couldn't "smash" us Fang? =P

I reckon we have the makings to possibly take one of the autopromotion slots now. Our right winger problem is solved, we have further quality at the front and seem to be playing ok. Another CB would be nice, but hey, beggars can't be choosers.

Assuming no teams plunder your squad in January :p

See, that's the thing. I can't see all the CCC clubs losing everyone, particularly those that made extra signings. I made sure I tried to get CCC quality players/EPL lower echelon types (Long, Jarvis, Cacapa etc) to compliment my squad in case of such an eventuality, but I'm not certain that everyone will go.

In addition, the nature of T2B means that most teams don't have City/Real-style money to throw at their problems (except the one with the sugardaddy chairman...can't remember who got it) so with the exception of raids by Real/Barca themselves, I can't see us losing out ridiculously.

Wish I could smash the Aussies. Also, who do you think has the best side ATM. Prob me but my strikers suck, how does everyone reckon they rate. Mine is:

Reina

Lahm, Puyol, Upson, Srna

Ronaldo, Kaka, Gerrard, Young

Van Nistelrooy, Abonglahor

you complain about your forwards but Abonglahor was man of the match against me; think he score. and Van nistelrooy is probably the championship top goal scorer.

it may need reinforcing if you get promoted

i personally think i have not chance when coming up against the big t2b sides so - hopefully get some luck in my next game and then avoid all the big sides, and draw the winners of this fixture - Cardiff City vs. Preston North End

other I have a sneaky feeling Fanghunters might get some silverware

Busy tonight, update is probably going to come tomorrow. Want to get FMX2 finished so need to do that first.

Coaches and Scouts: Will check. Mid-August there'd been few appointments bythe clubs so we'll see by the end of February.

Just to make you aware that you'll hear nothing from me on here between Weds-Fri next week as I am off to an Outdoor Adventure place with twenty 10 year olds to - probably - embarrass myself completely! GCB/A
