That's fair. It's strange as this version of FM is the one I've enjoyed the most since FM17. I suspect that has a lot to do with enjoying my save a lot this time.

Is there much cross over though? I like F1 but there is literally no chance I would pick an F1 management game over FM in a million years. I will say though that FM is the only game I play and to me i've always thought of it as a separate entity. There are gamers and then there are people who play FM.

Isn't this another one of those trade offs that was made to make the game save quicker too? I'm only running Eng Wales & Scotland all leagues but I can go right back to the start of my save, around 16 years. Granted I only have 3 divisions in full detail though

You would have to manually add the players to the leagues or they will have the same amount of players as they would if they weren't active. It will also use the quick match engine so the stats will be different. I would never load any as view only. It's basically the same as not loading the league, bar the league tables. Teams won't get full youth intakes etc. I assume you manage at the top level so if I were you I would definitely at least have the top flights of the most important European leagues active @Daveincid explains it well here -

Right okay well if its a PC it may make things easier I would download HWMonitor so you can see the CPU temps. I'd be interested to know what the temps are idling and when FM is running. If you want to keep the fans on at all times but with no other program running you can change that in the BIOS. Here's an article that runs you through it https://cybersided.com/fan-curves/ Edit - I've just noticed you've said GPU not CPU! as far as i'm aware Afterburner or similar software is the only way to control GPU fans. HWMonitor will be handy though as you can see how toasty the GPU is getting.

FM is very demanding, especially during match days. All you can do is turn the graphics quality down. How new is your laptop? It could do with a dusting maybe with a can of compressed air

There is no difference between view only and non active in terms of transfer activity that I have noticed I guess you could load all players from the division you are adding as view only separately. That may have an effect. For me personally I will always load an extra active league rather than a few view only ones

Same here to be honest. Going back to old versions always makes me feel like i'm missing stuff. As I mentioned in the other thread though I do have a soft spot for 01/02 as it feels like an entirely different game with it being purely text based

Yeah things like that happen, i've noticed that one of my centre backs was getting high ratings even though he lost the ball a lot. Presumably this was because he made quite a few recovery tackles from his own mistakes

Never underestimate how invested the general public can get in the seemingly mundane

I had fun going back to 01/02 for a while. As there is no visual representation of what's happening on the pitch which weirdly can be more immersive as you are forced to imagine how it played out based on the text description and your own imagination, plus you sound like you have time constraints and with this version you can fly through a season in no time. Pure nostalgia.

Pretty sure view only doesn't add any players, just gives you league tables
