Does anyone here know how to actually edit the Euro qualifying to fit extra created nations?

Nah. To be more accurate, I've been there: at the moment, there's no known way of summoning Euro qualifying rules and modify them to accommodate for more or fewer nations. Well, one could also redo every international tournaments in the game due to dependencies that break everything if you dare touch the rules. :onmehead:If there's a way, I've never seen nor heard of it, and I've tried pretty hard. I'd love to be wrong, but I doubt I am unfortunately. :(

Extra created nations is an issue as Europa is maximized at 54 or 55 nations for qualifiers.

I have redone pretty much everything for my IC20 mod, but that was tough working out how everything works. You can rebuild things, but it is hard to make it comparable to SI's work. Also, my rebuild was with a lot less nations.

yes indeed and you find that once you get one comp edited if it is linked to another in some way it causes problems, the knock on effect can make the project not worth the effort you only become aware of the issues when you attempt something like you did...its fun isnt it :D

It's not necessary to recreate WC and Olympics. You have 2 possibilities if you have only one created nation : 1 simple and 1 more complicated. The simple method is to use only basic rules. The more complicated method is to create a file with Euro Q and WCQ (Europe) combined thanks to notepad+. But if you have more than 1 created nation, the second method is necessary. Personally, I have only used the simple way.

You have to change Euro Nations League first. And add your new country in the list. I have put mine instead of Kazakhstan. It's the simplest method but you have to use 2 files (your normal file + the new Nations league one ) when you play a new game. Euro qualifying is linked to European NL.  Concerning WC Qualifying, it's necessary to change them if you use the second method.

You have to create a seperate database, create an international league of some kind, convert to advanced rules, and then merge in the database you want to make. That way it recognizes your new league, you can delete the duplicates

Also, it looks like the nations league is the only one needed to be fixed

Hey, for FM22 at least there's another way to make it a bit simpler, no XML editing needed.

Load up the competition you want in advanced rules as described in the OP, then click onto the competition so your on the rules page, with "Description" "File" "Type" etc. Choose the Edit menu at the top and select copy. Then choose File > Load Database and either create new continental/international rules, or load an existing set. Go into advanced rules to the List section, click "Add", click the "Show Rules For" drop down menu and select "Other" at the bottom, click onto the "Rules" tab so you have "Description" etc. displayed, choose Edit at the top and then paste.

No XMLs needed, and it's possible to add extra continental/international competitions to existing database files.

I'll give it a go

Set a nation for the competition you want to extract. In this case European Champions Cup is set to Serbia.
20211228175303_1.thumb.jpg.5e5a696cd5f3926b5ecb09bc4ef863c0.jpg

After that add nation rules ---> choose Serbia and select "Add lower divisions and cups".
20211228175337_1.thumb.jpg.591feef6c1f73275f145332b8724a20b.jpg

You will get Basic Rules screen - you need to convert to advanced rules.
20211228175357_1.thumb.jpg.1ba2b83d290a4319f4e770b39208b9fe.jpg

After converting click the "Show Rules For" drop down box and choose your competition, in this case the European Champions Cup.20211228175412_1.thumb.jpg.801f16ba261723e40c8c02b4916d43f1.jpg

Click on the competition.
20211228175420_1.thumb.jpg.c7c6b60c269516f8766c6f600b6b75c5.jpg

Then select "Edit" > "Copy".
20211228175435_1.thumb.jpg.f0139c8102dcd0aea94aa2b52e479b20.jpg

Now re-load the database.
20211228175442_1.thumb.jpg.4d7fa1823eaf7b20a8f238338af33411.jpg

Select "No" when asked if you want to load unsaved changes.
20211228175453_1.thumb.jpg.c2f7764fc7b3795c0847c4f32f3affb3.jpg

Add Club Continental (or International, in which case you can skip to converting to advanced rules) rules.
20211228175508_1.thumb.jpg.351abfd4dfee2d87ab1523cd421647ad.jpg

Add 2 nations to the Qualification System (any nations will do as long as they're the right continent).20211228175540_1.thumb.jpg.a3bf63099c063b3eec758e0279429568.jpg

Now convert to advanced rules.
20211228175543_1.thumb.jpg.2e558dc65a66fc6d17022830ab252b19.jpg

Once in advanced rules untick the "Enabled" box on the nations screen.20211228183131_1.thumb.jpg.4f883b59ec402506fc335013b56e871d.jpg

Go to the List screen, click the "Add" button and then select your new "Other" rules from the "Show Rules For" drop down box.
20211228175617_1.thumb.jpg.2decc71208c51bd9e7eeab4e232ace0b.jpg

Click on the "Rules" section and then choose "Paste" from the Edit menu.20211228175812_1.thumb.jpg.03090de6b556427730ef8a2122c06fe5.jpg

Now you have your continental club or international competition loaded in advanced rules.

hello guys

i want to change subs in the UEFA Euro qualifications but i cant find it because it does not have stages

what should i do??

if @Wolf_pd can help me i would be grateful

A lot of international competitions don't extract to advanced rules correctly. The Euro qualifiers are one of those. You'll have to recreate the stages if you want to change the sub rules.

Have a look around though, somebody else may have already recreated that competition. I re-created them for my 40 team world cup file (https://community.sigames.com/forums/topic/563875-fm224-40-team-world-cup/). You could grab them from that file using the copy/paste method I mentioned above (https://community.sigames.com/forums/topic/540347-how-to-extract-continental-club-and-international-files-from-editor-tutorial/?do=findComment&comment=13403624) so that you don't have any of the other changes. I'm not 100% sure but I think in that file the only changes I made were host selection for the European Championships themselves (which would be overriden by the default settings if the file mode is set to Flexible Format Rules) and I changed the qualifiers to accomodate anywhere from 50 to 60 teams (rather than the hardcoded 54/55 default setting).

Many people ask how to extract files such as UEFA Nations League, EC qualifying, Copa America....

This is tutorial how you can do it.

Set some nation to competition you want to extract. In this case ECQ - country is Serbia.

Screenshot_182.thumb.png.e82d21db26eb22eb625ba58acc9f6e16.png

After that add nation rules ---> choose Serbia and select "Add lower divisions and cups".

Screenshot_183.thumb.png.5df037f33a8e3e3239ae7e3b17b0daa6.png

You will get Basic Rules screen - you need to convert to advanced rules.

Screenshot_184.png.959d8ea35a255318fcf6196dfefcdb09.png

When converted - you will get ECQ file at serbian nation rules list.

Screenshot_185.png.b649db22b5f641c7bc38926462667214.png

Go to the "list" section

Screenshot_186.png.69749e04b1e79343de9630901661747a.png

and mark all files except ECQ

Screenshot_187.thumb.png.0f5851a2e130b648d0ef1a35c9dacfe1.png

Click remove and you will have only ECQ file in your advanced list.

Screenshot_188.thumb.png.463cb3cc8a6ff96de432cfb1c6489db4.png

Now we must delete that 1 database change we created - we added nation to ECQ.

Go to Database Changes section, mark that one record and click remove.

After that click "reload ratabase and apply undeleted changes"

Screenshot_189.thumb.png.4847f35c6852d7aaa5ccdb05155e25f2.png

Now we have ECQ file in our advanced list without any database changes. Only thing left is to get rid of Nation Rules. For this we must edit xml file. First we need to save this file as xml.

Go to File---Export and export your file as xml file. Choose name of your file and save it at some location where you can find it :)

Screenshot_191.png.18844d4387d394a72544a31cced38310.png

I saved my file as ECQ.xml

Its located on display in my case. You need to open and edit this file manualy. Notepad ++ is good option for that.

When you open your file you will get something like this

Screenshot_192.png.b5afd916b31fd2406d131c4be740a0ec.png

Click somewhere at line 3 - "rule_group" line. Its start of Basic editor nation rules section. When you click somewhere on that line you will see red line Screenshot_193.png.00c6275ba15a51efe3211df8fea692d5.png

Scroll down with your mouse and you will see where that section (red line) ends. In this case its line 289.

Screenshot_194.png.a2b1cb8576718e4dc25c81ecb37692d9.png

We need to mark everything between line 3 and 289 (including those lines) and to delete it

Screenshot_195.png.b01b289a99b9d4f7778f39c1a1623136.pngScreenshot_196.png.cec00943d09dd6341dd8a79b5b0595b2.png

When you mark this just click backspace button at your keyboard and you will delete those lines (basic text editing -has nothing to do with FM).

You will get something like this:

Screenshot_197.png.c8f17119a9c687344601fadab7fd5f1d.png

Delete that empty line again with backspace button.

Screenshot_198.png.5c30468473962a342a0f601fa2cdd302.png

Go to File---> Save and save your file.

Thats it. Now you have extracted ECQ file without anything else. You can load(import) it to editor if you wanna change something.

I have a question, i know you've answered this differently when you continue this tutorial...

at the stage where you've removed the database changes and now have to delete the nation rules.. is possible to add a new nation to the teams registered list before deleting stuff in notepad?

i've basically taken pre-ireland and created a new nation and want to add the new nation to the nations league. the headache that i've got is the copy and paste job at the end of your tutorial. i've done so much detailed work to my nations database and the only thing missing is that nation playing in the nations league. so you can see why i'm fishing for a quicker fix haha

Your final picture. Are you saying I should re-enable and add the two nations back? Or I can just edit my competition advanced rules now without doing that?

Also, with this, does this mean I would require at least 2 data files to make my newly moved African country in the Europe to work? Or is there a way to import the now advanced rules of this competition into my original data file?

I am also editing multiple competitions. Is there a way to combine them all or do I have to keep separate data files for each?

Edit: I just merged both databases and I've come to the conclusion I can do that for my other files. This was after saving the rule changes as its own file, of course.

I still need to know if I have to reenable the nations that supply the teams.

I think that was just a copy/paste error. Definitely don't enable any nations there, doing so will remove them from the default club continental competitions, eg. UCL etc.

For multiple competitions, merging is one option. Or just copy/paste them over. The above method puts the rules into a new file. If you already have an existing file, then after copying the rules you want re-load the database, load your editor file, add a new blank rules set, click onto the main page of it and then paste. That should copy over the international rules. Save your file again, then go back for the next set of rules you want to copy/paste over.

Thank you, Rusty.

I came across some minor issues when merging even so I undid that. It'll be best to follow your instructions.

Hey Rusty.

Well, I tried following your instructions to adding a new blank rule after I copied the original international league rule. But after I load database and then my original data file, when I create a new rule on the list in advanced rules, it doesn't let me paste what I copied. The option is not enabled. When I use a blank file and do your exact steps, I see the option to paste, just not when I use my editor file.

What do you think could be the issue?

Maybe too much time between copying/pasting?

I don't know, it's always worked for me. You're definitely on the right part of the rules file to paste to? When re-loading the database you just click File > Load Database, then after Load Editor Data? You're not actually exiting and restarting the editor, right?

I didn't exit the editor and followed your instructions to a T.

Once I loaded database and loaded my editor data, which is already in advanced rules, I go to the list, add a new rule, open the "show rules for" the new other rules but once I'm over the rule, there's no option to paste.

It's a bit irking.

I have the same issue and the time between copy and paste is not the problem, I was very fast and tried it several times ;-)

But the xml way still works, so I can edit the CAF Champions League and correct all the wrong data :D
