Hi @Smurf and @kevhamster. I hope you guys don't mind me asking as this thread title says for FM21. But could you guys reccomended a laptop to play the older versions of FM on? Primary FM12/13. I obviously don't want to spend loads of money on a laptop to play older games, but I've really fancied playing the older games lately.

FM12 says it needs a processor of a min of 1.6gz. Atm I can't find any cheap ones that are higher than 1.1gz.

any help will be greatly appreciated :)

What the budget

At max I don't really want to spend more than £300 maybe £350 at a push.

At that sort of budget, you're better off with a refurb model, as most of the brand new ones at that price are frankly crap.

This one will do the job: https://www.laptopstation.co.uk/product/laptops/a515-51-2/

Hello,

I have a budget of around £1k, could possibly go a little bit over if needed.

I want a laptop that can run fm, I only play 2D with 3D highlights but the main thing is I will also use my laptop for work so if there is a laptop that would run it well whilst also not looking too much like a gaming laptop would be perfect.

Thank you for your help.

Howdy! I got help from you guys before when looking into buying a laptop for my son for FM! Well, I've been enjoying watching him playing it, and even tried it myself (I suck!) was just looking for advice on the following laptops are either good enough to run the game?

Neither are great, but out of the two the Acer would be the better choice.

If you buy that, you'll need to take Windows out of S mode, otherwise you won't be able to install Steam or Epic (and by extention, FM):

Thank you so much for replying.

I don’t know loads about specs but that looks mad.

Only thing is I don’t know if my OCD could deal with the touchpad to the left. I know it’s only a small thing so if you don’t have time don’t worry but is there one with a central touchpad.

Thanks.

It seems a left-aligned touchpad is actually quite common..... It's not something I'd ever really noticed!

This one looks more central though https://www.box.co.uk/30029475-Medion-Erazer-P10-Intel-Core-i7-16GB-RAM_3554455.html

So I am upgrading my PC. Would there be any noticeable difference between 64GB DDR4 4000MHz and 64GB DDR4 3600MHz when it comes to FM processing time?

Most likely very little, if any.

what would u say is the ideal processor for Fm 21 and 22?

i am looking to buy a new laptop, preferably a games machine laptop -  i have seen your suggestions over the last few pages and i have bookmarked a few from 'The Box'

that seem very suitable.

also i do enjoy great graphics, and esp car games - looking to spend no more than 900 if possible :)

Hi.

I am looking to buy a laptop to run FM and for my wife to do college work on.  I am afraid I don't really know a great deal about laptops but I've been playing FM on the same laptop for over 8 years so I think just about anything would be an upgrade.

My budget is about £300

Cheers

I can't find anything in the brand new market I can recommend.

The best I can find is this refurbed model https://www.laptopstation.co.uk/product/laptops/s340-15api-5/

I would suggest taking the option of upgrading the RAM to 8GB.

Hey guys i recently bought surface pro 7+  (i5, 8gb ram and 256gb ssd) i got it mainly for work however as probably most of us Football Manager will always remian in my heart.

I wanted to ask if anyone has expirienced playing it on such a laptop, and can i run it without compromising my laptop.

When i checked it in "can i run it" it told me i lack minimum requiremnt in video memory. Intel Iris video graphic only has 128 ram while minimum requirements are 255MB.

Also if i was to play 2D mode would that make any difference to the usage of graphics card.

Thanks :)

In theory, it should run in 2D mode but my suggestion would be to download the demo and see how it runs.

Hi I was wondering if you could advise me on if any of these 2 laptops would be able to play the 3D match engine at a decent level. I’m getting a new laptop and all I need it for is FM and general stuff like internet , word etc. Look forward to your reply

Any chance you could have a quick look at these 2 laptops and let me know if any of them would be able to play the 3D match engine at a decent level. I’ll only be using the laptop for FM and everyday stuff like internet , excel etc. Looking forward to your reply.

The top one of the two is considerably better - graphics wise will manage medium settings, possibly higher.

https://www.argos.co.uk/product/8988784?clickPR=plp:1:21 - this will be better if in stock though.  The CPU scores quite similarly but it has a dedicated graphics card which will definitely enable you to max out the graphics settings.

It's a little better than the other, but not worth paying the extra I don't think.

https://www.box.co.uk/1D5F9EAABU-HP-Pavilion-15-ec1008na-AMD-Ryzen-5-8GB-_3554471.html - this one is actually a lot stronger and a very good price.

Hi guys, looking for a new laptop. FM will be the most graphically intense game I play, but I would like to play on the highest settings if possible. I will be watching Netflix / Prime etc but not much else apart from that.  Budget of £500, could go a little higher if there’s something much better

thanks in advance

Can't guarantee the 3D settings will be at max, but will manage medium at least.  There are no gaming laptops at that price, but this is about as strong as laptop integrated graphics will go at the moment.

Hello Everyone!

I am looking for a laptop to play fm21 with 3d graphics, euro truck simulator and minecraft.

I will also use the laptop for email, office, web browsing and netflix.

This will be the second laptop i buy in my life (tha last one i have had for 10 years), my goal is for the laptop to fulfill the tasks i indicated in the long term quickly without blocking.

However this was what caught my attention the most (i only find it for sale in Portugal, which is where i'm from, if you need help translating something, let me know):

https://www.worten.pt/informatica-e-acessorios/computadores/computadores-portateis/portatil-gaming-hp-victus-16-e0000np-amd-ryzen-5-5600h-nvidia-geforce-rtx-3050-ram-8-gb-512-gb-ssd-pcie-16-1-7432857

My budget is 1000€ at most.

Many Thanks!

Great thanks!  If i were to take the step up to a 'proper' graphics card whilst keeping a similar standard of processor, what would the increase in cost be?

This one is available for £580, which is probably about the cheapest brand new one you'll find.  Good spec for the price too: https://www.box.co.uk/Acer-Aspire-7-AMD-Ryzen-5-8GB-RAM-256GB-_3557426.html

Evening guys.

hope you can help.

looking for a laptop to play FM21 at a good speed (decent amount of leagues, full database, 3D graphics - full game experience). Won’t be used for much else really.

also want something fairly future proof - ie, will do the next few years FM without a struggle and will generally give me a few years use without being too off the pace in general.

is this one a decent choice?

Yep, it's probably the best you'll get for that money.  Excellent CPU, very capable graphics card.

Hi all. In the market for a laptop. Primary function is FM and browsing. The occasional other game would be welcome but not necessary (and mostly older stuff like CS:GO and Civ).

Would be looking to run 4-5 leagues in FM.

Anyone have any experience with the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go?

The Surface range is basically massively overpriced for what it is - and this one has a base clock speed below the minimum recommended for FM.  So, although I don't doubt it will run it, you may get performance stutters when it warms up.

These are much better bets for over £100 less:

https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/laptops/laptops/dell-inspiron-14-5405-14-laptop-amd-ryzen-5-256-gb-ssd-silver-10208028-pdt.html

Or for £40 less you can have an actual gaming laptop:

I need some technical advice.

My current PC specs are listed below but after 4 years of playing FM17-21 it’s starting to sound like a tractor!

(1x)   *Build Promo* Intel Core i3-8100 3.6GHz (Coffee Lake) Quad Core Processor
(1x)   Team Group Vulcan T-Force 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-19200C14 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit - Grey (TLGD416G24
(1x)   Palit GeForce GTX 1070 Dual 8192MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
(1x)   Phanteks Eclipse P400 Midi Tower Case - Black Window
(1x)   Asus PCE-N15 300Mbps 802.11B/G/N Wireless PCI-E Network Adapter

I’m currently speculating whether or not to replace it with a MacBook Air with the M1 chip but I’m sceptical about how FM will run on an apple device?

I use a custom database with players with a national - continental reputation on view only but it’s been rather laggy lately.

any help is much much appreciated!

The benchmarks say the M1 Macbooks run the game very well.

But, if you're seriously looking at buying a new PC, you can get a very good gaming PC or laptop for the same money.

Hi guys, my current laptop is very bad, i try to play FM Touch 21 on it but the processing of the games is taking so long, i have to wait up to 7/8 minutes to process a week, with only 3 leagues loaded, and I repeat its FM Touch, not the full game. So now i want to buy a new laptop. My budget is 600 pounds. What do you think about this one ?

 Buy HP Pavilion 15 15.6in Ryzen 5 8GB 256GB Laptop - Silver | Laptops | Argos

P.S. I plan to use the laptop only for the game and nothing else
