Half way through

Even though we beat Lyon away in the league we're only 2nd but level on points with them. The reason they're in front is us messing up against weaker sides like Montpellier. How we did not win that one is beyond me. We've played more attacking both home and away this season and it shows in goals scored, especially from the striker Rochina who's been on fire. Other than the amazing away win against Lyon the big highlight has been beating Marseille at our ground 3-0.

In Europe we where handed a easy group and we flew threw beating all 3 teams comfortably both home and away. We've drawn Polish side Wisla in the next round, and should we overcome that challenge russian Zenit or dutch Ajax will be waiting. Again a pretty good draw with teams like Liverpool, Man City, Inter Milan, Porto and Juventus still in it.

Gonna spend some time in the transfer window now and hopefully finish the season in the weekend. Rochina is wanted by Chelsea, Man Utd, AC Milan, Juventus and Lazio and keeps telling the media how much he'd like to leave, so I dont expect him to be around after the summer.

*edit*

Just as I press 'continue' I get this news report. Brilliant money, but I was hoping to keep him untill the end of this season and mabye fight Lyon untill the end.

Rochina accepted the offer from Manchester United and is now on a £62k week contract with them. Good luck to him. Time to start digging through scout reports, again...

Ohanzee - It's a pity that he's going in January, but that is a great sum of money and you've got the whole month to use it to get a good replacement.

I forgot to mention. I'm taking the gamble on Bent Hansen. (It's last season's pic, but his stats are the same). He has great stats for a 20-year old, and he has never had regular first team football. I'm gambling by giving him some game time as a first team starter that he will improve further and become a huge part of the team's future. He should be a good counterpart to the strength and aerial power of Pastore too.

And then my first win. A 2-1 victory at Sampdoria. It took me about 10 games to get a win last time round!

Hansen looks very promising. Good job getting the win already. Looks on route to my prediction of fighting for Europe :) Good luck.

I dont think I will spend any money on another striker at this point. We have several other options, but none of them have proven they can score consistently. I doubt I'll find any replacement that's better than any of the ones I already got though. So I may aswell play them and hope one of them clicks. I do play alot more attacking this season so they might just do that.

Tsarfati is still here and deserve one last chance to prove himself. If not we got french youngsters Langlois, Duboc, Levavasseur and Dujardin who can all play up front aswell. And if none of them get the job done I can always put van Persie up front or Saviola. I'm pretty determinted to let Saviola and van Persie go after the season though. They are getting old and I want the younger players to get the chance. And if none of that work we can put Coutinho up front, he's played there 1 game (against Marseille) and scored a hat-trick. He's my best option in AMC though, so I'd rather use him there.

It'll all have to wait untill the weekend though, time to get some sleep before work.

Langlois looks a good player. He should be able to bang in a few before the end of the season.

I don't want to gloat. But I just beat Juventus 5-0! The win has seen me rise to second place. (Admittedly we've only player 3 games, but still). It is Rossoneri in first and Il Nuovi Rossoneri in second!

I'd also like to point out that my prediction over another Farinelli move came true. He has moved to Torino. He is now 23 and has already played for 7 clubs!

Ohanzee - great season so far, hope you can hold on to Lyon during the 2nd half of the season!

PRDH - great start to Serie A season for you.

Messina Update

At the end of the normal league season we finished 3rd, though our form went downhill substantially towards the end (only 1 win in the last 5 games).

We have Ternana in the playoff semis, who won their last 6 games of the season . The playoff inform team against the playoff non-form team... either way I will take 3rd place for Messina this season.... will have to somehow keep hold of Aitor one way or another over the summer. He is continually unsettled by transfer speculation, but hasn't demanded a move yet - I may dig my feet in as his contract has another 3 years on it! :D

A particularly busy summer has just passed for Sachsen Leipzig, with the club signing some, hopefully, quality players who might help push Sachsen into Europe.

These are my transfers so far. There are a few more days left in the transfer window, but I doubt whether I'd buy anyone else.

Probable starting line up for this season:

GK - Ben Foster - The Englishman has signed to play in Germany, the home of goalkeepers, for the season on a free transfer. He was released by his former club Chelsea, but what is even more baffling is that no other team was interested in signing him

RB/WBR - Andreas Ozturk - Easily my best regen after Stachel. Was signed for 1.9 million last year from Wehen. Still only 18, so plenty of time to improve for him.

LB/WBL - Igor Kolichinskiy - A new signing this season for 7 million from Saturn. Left back was a problem position last season, so I really hope he solves those problems.

CB - Gustavo Cabral - If you've been reading my updates regularly, you'd know about him. A rock at the heart of defense, he single handedly kept the score respectable in many a game last season :D Still uncapped by Argentina

CB - Walter Samuel - Free signing from Inter Milan. River were also interested him, but the lure of Leipzig, Germany probably clinched it in our favour ;) Brings some much needed experience in the center of defense.

DMC - Anatoliy Tymoschuk - Signed for 600k from Sevilla(he was transfer listed), Tymoschuk is now the club captain in his first season, in addition to being the captain of the Ukrainian national team. He takes over the captaincy and the DMC spot from Roberto de Sousa.

MC - Jochen Stachel - My best regen in the club, and one of my personal favourite players. Very consistent and in a few years, I think he'd be one of Europe's top midfielders.

MC - Diego Suarez - The club's costliest signing so far. Bought for 7.5 million from Shakhtar, he is a natural in CM,AMC and FC positions! And his mental stats make him a very mature player, even at the age of 20. Has 10 international goals as well.

AMC - Juan Roman Riquelme - One of the best technical players in the world, Riquelme was bought for 1.2 million from Boca. His physical stats aren't very good, but I think he'd be able to cope up for one season, or at best 2, until Martin Galvan takes over the position.

ST - Nicklas Bendtner - The ex-Arsenal man was signed on a free last season, and had plenty of clubs interested in him this season, but I've kept a hold of him, as he looks a better targetman than most others interested in signing for Sachsen.

ST - Marquinhos - Top scorer last season, and a truck load of clubs were interested in signing him in the Summer. None of the interested clubs made an offer though, so he stays for atleast another year. I'm trying to get him to sign a new 5 year contract fwiw.

Notable Substitutes :

Silviu Lung Jr

Roberto de Souza

Kyriakos Papadopoulos

Jose Sosa

Kenneth Baelum (regen)

Martin Galvan

Antonio Mihaylov - on loan

Clement Grenier - on loan

Have played 2 games in the league so far, winning 1 and losing the other. The Cup run started with a comfortable victory over Union Berlin, and the 2nd round game against league champions FC Bayern looms ahead.

Well that's a nice feeling. Last time in Serie A I got 25 points in total as I fought unsuccessfully against relegation. Well I've passed that total now. So there is definite improvement. The fact that I've passed it after only 16 games is even better. I'm sitting in 8th, only 2 points behind third. The Milan teams are running away with it at the moment. It'll be tough to break their dominance.

EDIT - Sviridov looks set to be leaving. A.C. Milan have bid a total of £29.25M for him. £18.25M up front, then £11M over 6 months, plus 10% of any future profit. I think I might have rejected it, but the chairman accepted it without consulting me, so time to search for a replacement.

EDIT - He's gone. Hopefully it won't totally deflate the team. I think I've got a good replacement lined up. But I'd rather he'd gone to someone that wasn't Milan. I feel a bit like a feeder club to them at the moment, after Ferraro went there last season. They don't even need Sviridov really, they've already got 3 of the best defenders in the world!

Nocerina - Italian Serie C2/B - 2009/2010

Was very pleased with my first season at Nocerina, Finishing the League in 4th place and Losing the Playoff semi final because i was the lower seed. In the cup i was pleased that i had got to the 3rd round. I have 80k in the bank which is good as long as im not in the red. I had a very good regen through the youth academy called Matteo De Rossi.

League

Serie C Cup: 3rd Round

Key Players

Matteo De Rossi - Was very good at Right Back and Centre Back for me and he scored every penalty he hit. he looks a very good prospect. He had played for Italy U21s when he was 16

Remo Morelli - Signed him from Torres for 1k he was the leagues top goalscorer and he also looks a good prospect.

Right well Sviridov has gone to Milan for a total of £29.25M to be replaced by Antonio Pellegrini who joins for £9.5M. It looks as if Cvetkovski (the Macedonian right-back) may be off as well, Juve have offered £7M which would be an excellent profit on the £1M I spent on him, especially as he's been pushed out of the first team this season.

Pellegrini looks better than Sviridov tbh

I think he does too. He's a real beast of a defender. He came on loan to me as a fresh faced 17 year old, in Serie B - the season when I had a financial melt down, whilst the board were building my new stadium.

Razer82 - Real Oviedo - Spanish LIGA Adelante - 2014 / 2015

Media Prediction: 9th

Final Prediction: 2nd - Promotion!

Spanish Cup: 5th Round - Lost 4-0 on agg to Deportivo

Team Stats 1

Team Stats 2

Transfers

After last season's amazing 5th place finish, I would be looking to achieve something similar if not better for this season. Things seemed to click for us from the start of the year and we were able to compete with all the teams in the league from the get go. Two wins over eventual champions Las Palmas put us into a good position to claim the title but our inability to keep in lead in some important games led us to slip back to second place although this was still enough to secure our promotion to the top flight.

This was also the season that we finally managed to make some progress in the cup, tight wins over Levante, 3-2 and Albacete, 2-1 put us into the 4th round for the first time under my management. Our opponents were Almeria who managed to hold us to a 0-0 draw in the first leg but a late red card and a couple of injuries in the second leg allowed us to romp to a 3-0 win and a place in the 5th round.

It seemed that we were never really in either of the legs in the 5th round, Deportivo showing that we may not be ready for the promotion that we've just managed to secure.

This season's top scorer, Juan Carlos Bordoy (23 Goals), was a revelation as he was only put in due to injuries to begin with. Mbilla (14 Goals) also had another productive season, but it was hinded greatly by injury and hopefully he'll be able to make the step up in leagues. Top midfield performer was N'Diaye (10 Goals and 18 Assists) proving him invaluable to the team.

I'll be lookin for big things next season from Doru Toth, a mid season signing from Romania who could well lead the defence for many years to come.

Aims for next season

  • Avoid Relegation
  • Improve the club's finances
  • Improve the squad.

Although the most important thing is to avoid relegation, the others will just be a bonus.

Good work Razer, good luck in La Liga next season. Doru Toth looks decent for an 18yr old, although his marking might have to improve a bit. :)

Messina got through the Playoff semis against Ternana, drawing 2-2 in the 2nd leg to go through 2-2 on agg, virtue of having a better league record.

In the Playoff Final we faced Avellino, who finished 2nd in the league. We drew 0-0 at our ground (which had our highest attendance since I started by an absolute mile (c.26k!). So it was locked going into the 2nd leg.....

End of season update to come later tonight / tomorrow.

Just a little quiet, this season has been another interesting one, I will let you in on my Euro Cup Quarter Final. 0-0 at home, I now travel to Glasgow to face Rangers for the Semi-Final spot.

Best Jinxing EVER - I have just lost 8 players to injuries in the lead up to this game, plus a supension means I have 4 DC's across the back. A WBL playing at ML. going to be amusing to say the least.

The Game

7:03 - Perreira Goal - Radakovic centres the ball for Perreira who slots it into the corner of the net, Fafe lead 1:0 with the important away goal.

17:34 - Di Giuseppe Red Card - Di Giuseppe gets himself sent off following a two-footed tackle. Now it is time to block up the net.

20:49 - Zonnevald Goal - Free kick taken by Rangers is slotted home, game tied 1:1, Fafe still has away goal lead.

27:30 - Juan Injury - Juan has to head off as he is taken out.

Halftime 1:1

59:20 - Gigli Goal - Rangers score another one, Fafe fans gutted as the score moves to 2:1.

65:10 - Maradona Goal - Great ball from Crawford to Diego sets him up to put a long distance shot into the net. 2:2 and Fafe have the away goals once more.

67.44 - Kean Goal - He cheekily chips the ball over Gresovnik to give Rangers the lead back 3:2

69:52 - Kean Goal - Getting the ball from a cross as Gresovnik missed it, he slots it into the empty net 4:2.

74:00 - Kean Goal Offside - He was offside, still a small chance.

85:20 - Bellamy Goal - A penalty is given following a foul in the box and we drop further behind 5:2

Fulltime 5:2

Well we dropped out in the quarter finals for the third year running, now to concentrate on the league.

Wow! That is a serious jinx.

Worst I've had was before my first Champions League Final in my career game. Where I was playing Barcelona and ended up with 8 players on the pitch because they injured so many of my players. Admittedly they had 9 because they had 2 sent off. But i did manage to pull through.

Frank Heß is showing the benefits of regular first team football at the top level. His stats are improving massively. For example - at the start of the season he has 13 for marking, it is now 16!

el sid - Looking good. I like the look of your defensive and offensive triangle. Cabral, Samuel and Tymoschuk at the back and Riquelme, Bendtner and Marquinhos up front. Should be very strong.

PRDH - To bad about Sviridov. I felt the same way when Svensson left for Lyon here, now he's unhappy at not playing for them. Such a wasted talent. But Pellegrini looks insane to. Hope you can get that European spot, is it 8 teams in Italy?

Razer82 - Big grats on promotion! Bordoy looks very promising. Good luck in the top flight.

LLR - Unlucky in Scotland there with the injuries. But 3 quarter finals is sweet, boosts Fafes reputation and Portugals rank. Any chance of Portugal getting 4 CHL spots soon? Good luck in the league, hope you can split those top 3.

Pellegrini is playing well too. I'm not sure I can reach Europe now. I'm in 10th and it's 7 teams that make it. There are 3 games left and I'm 7 points behind 7th so unlikely.

Well here's what happens when you lose your best striker and the ones left couldnt hit the atlantic ocean if they where swimming in it. Bye bye Lyon, hope I can hold on to the 2nd spot at least. Still 10 days left to make a transfer, but I havent found anyone interesting. The ones that do look really good want £40k+ wages, and I dont wanna go there just yet. Guess I'll have to turn to Saviola or play van Persie up there for now.

And I need to go scout-hunting to. My South American one is clearly to slow. He just notified me of this defensive gem, to bad Anderlechts scouts where faster.

*edit*

Lyons Karim Benzema have broken his ancle and is out for 2-3 months seeing a specialist. They've now drawn 2 games in a row against Rennais and Toulouse. That's how big of a player he is, I really wonder how they have managed to keep hold of him so long.

We hammered Wisla 4-2 in Poland, giving us a great chance for the home-leg. Still not sure who to play up front, they all falter. We're riding on our wingers and Coutinho in AMC scoring atm.

Easy win at home against Wisla aswell, 2-1 but their only chance and goal came when Paiva put the ball in our own net. Ajax waiting in the next round.

Just as I thought we where getting back into it with Lyon we manage a 0-1 loss at home to Strasbourg. 15-2 shots in our favour. I dont get why it's so hard to find a striker that can hit the target. They look great on paper, they just need 10 1-on-1s to hit the back of the net :(

Dutch side Ajax where beaten 4-2 in France, in a strange game. We dominated and got 4 clear cut chances. Ajax didnt really create anything all game but still managed to score 2. Decent result to take with us to Holland though, should be a good game.

A boring 0-0 draw in Holland and FC Mulhouse are in the quarter finals again. English side Newcastle are the oposition. Should we win go through Inter Milan will likely be waiting in the Semi-final. They meet AZ Alkmaar of Holland, and I doubt they can make a surprise against the Italian giants. First we'll need to beat a english side though.

TaylorB - Barreirense - 2010-11

'Glory, Glory Barreirense'

Predicted: First

Actual: First

Cup: Quarter Finals

Early Season.

Unlike the previous season I decided against making wholesale squad changes as I thoroughly believed the squad was good enough to get the promotion which was expected of them. Instead, I looked for depth in the squad and the occasional first team replacement if I could find a better player than the first teamer currently in that position. Pre-season flew by with only three friendlies arranged against the teams predicted by the Portuguese media to finish first in Group A,B and C to see how well we would compete in the race for Promotion against other teams. We proceeded to coast to three comfortable victories and the confidence of the squad soared to an all-time high ahead of the new season.

Squad | Transfers

The League

The only priority in the league was finishing first and getting promoted. The players knew it and in the first game against media predicted second place team Atheltico C.P; the boys outplayed them in every area of the pitch and the game finished 3-0 and the season was off to a great start. The league carried on in this trend and we finished the First Phase top with 43 goals scored and only 9 conceded.

First Phase League Table | First Phase League Graph

The momentum stalled and the first two games of the Promotion stage ended with a defeat and a draw. After struggling to beat Tondela 1-0 the momentum began to come back and the squad was playing with the same confidence and exuberance that had got them to this stage. We went on to gain entry into the play-off semi finals and hopefully gain a place in Liga Vitalis.

Promotion Stage League Table | Promotion Stage League Graph

News Item

Semi Final Leg One | Report

A 0-0 draw which I was more than happy to take with the next leg at the fortress of our home ground.

Semi Final Leg Two | Report

A comfortable win with a confident performance from the team. This win meant we were in Liga Vitalis for the next season and now the final was awaiting to confirm our status as the best team in the Second Division out of all the groups which I, and my squad had believed since the start of the season.

Final | Report

We didn't dominate the game and struggled to find any sort of rhythm but we somehow escaped with a 4-1 victory. We were confirmed as the best team out of the Second Division groups and we must improve next season if we want to stay in the Liga Vitalis.

Promotion

The Cup

After reaching the heights of the 6th round last year I was determined to progreess further in the competition. Obviously, a kind draw would be needed to do so. We coasted through the early rounds and even beat Villa Mea 10-0 in the third round. We beat future Second Division final opponents Gondomar SC 1-0 in the sixth round to progress to the Quarter Final and meeting my expectations. Porto were the opponents and their dominance showed cruising to a 5-0 victory.

The 'Barrier'ense to Glory?

Finances

We needed to be promoted as the finances were seriously struggling. The board had to inject money into the club on three seperate occasions.

Great update TaylorB. Congrats on promotion, good luck next season

We've just tossed Newcastle out of Europe with a 1-1 away and 4-1 in France. So Inter Milan are coming to our ground. They beat the crap out of AZ, so we're probably in for a hammering, but I dont really mind. I'm more excited about seeing how many fans turn up to the game. If this dont fill the stadium it will never be full I guess. First we have 4 games in league and cup though. 4 games in 8 days

**End of Season Update - Domegliara - Serie A - 2017/18**

Transfers

A big pre-season in terms of transfer spending this season. The biggest was Sviridov, a great all-round defender who would only spend 6 months at Domegliara before moving on to A.C Milan for £29M. His replacement is perhaps even better though.

League

Well after the Domes' last attempt at Serie A ended in ignominious relegation, survival was the aim this season. It looked good initially with some cracking performances, notably the 5-0 win over Juventus I mentioned earlier. Early season form moved Il Nuovi Rossoneri up to 2nd in the table after 3 games. Following this great start, fans were brought back down to earth, as a downturn saw us plummet down to 17th (where the media thought we'd finish). This however proved to be the low point, a steady rise saw the team reach 6th place in mid-season and Europe looked attainable. Form dropped off again in the final third of the season and the team fluctuated between 9th and 12th for the back-end of the season eventually finishing in 11th. A good performance, and a place to kick on from next season.

Star Players

Many players from the squad did well this season, and honourable mention goes to Sviridov who had an excellent 6 months at the club before leaving.

Diego Pastore was top scorer in the team again, and showed he has what it takes to play in Serie A. He didn't show a great deal of improvement, but then he is already a fairly complete forward so not that bad news. He's only 21 still too and his composure is getting better.

Giuseppe Casisa is still first choice in midfield, and still captain and still performing well. He scored a few, created a few and generally made nuisance of himself. He's 32 now, I don't know how long he can continue to perform at the top of his game, but I do have a youngster - Cesare Peluso who I tempted away from AC Milan, who could replace him eventually.

Gianfranco Dalla Bona played a significant chunk of the season at left-back and played well especially for a 17-year old. He proved that he a real prospect.

Marius Dinu didn't play as many games as he'd have liked this season, but when he did play he did alright.

Bent Hansen didn't end up playing as many games as I thought he would, but he keeps on improving his stats and must come good soon.

Frank Heß adapted well to Serie A and proved an excellent partner for both Sviridov and Pellegrini. He has progressed towards becoming one of the best, and still has youth on his side too.

Fedir Kandaurov played more than he has done in the past few seasons and scored some important goals, he is an excellent back-up. Though I'd like to find a reliable partner for Pastore for him to be back-up to!

Marco Novello amazingly managed to improve his stats from last season. He now must be one of the best right-wingers in the league. Which isn't bad for a player who cost £3K!

Stefano Okaka played fewer games than he has done in recent seasons, but still scored plenty of goals.

Antonio Pellegrini arrived in january from Fiorentina for £9.5M as a replacement for Sviridov, and did well, he was unsurprisingly dominant in the air and good on the ground too. He may want to get a few more goals next season. It will take a lot of money to prise him away from me.

Artur Pestana had a good season between the sticks, conceding far fewer than our goalkeeper for our last foray into Serie A did.

Igor Teplyakov came in as back-up initially but quickly secured one of the central midfield positions as his own. He performed well and scored important goals.

Holger Wagner is back-up to Novello and Willems, and performed well when called upon.

Steven Willems had another season as first choice winger, and another as a productive member of the squad.

Cup

Slightly more successful but still only made it to the Fourth Qualifying Round.

Awards

Top Scorer - Diego Pastore - 18 goals

Fans Player of the Season - Diego Pastore

Highest Average Rating - Giuseppe Casisa - 7.16 (39 apps)

Can We Play You Every Week - Bizarrely it goes to Sampdoria who finished in 3rd, but we managed to beat them 4-0 at home and 2-1 away.

Flops of the Season - A toss-up between Julien Mari, and Filip Djuricic. Both can be forgiven for making the clubs profits, but both really didn't have a good time in Domegliara. Mari is in this category for being a terrible professional. He was fined a total of 10 weeks wages in the 6 months he was at the club. He missed training, and even didn't turn up for the match day squad once, but he joined on a free and was sold for £1.3M. Djuricic was brought in as first choice midfield partner for Casisa but couldn't break into the squad really and made only 3 appearances after his £5M transfer - he is off to Bologna for £7M in the summer.

Youth Player Watch

Pier Luigi Farinelli moved to Torino and played a good number of games, will he be there next season? Or will he add to his 7 clubs.

Aldo Mazzini is still at the club, still not playing, and still improving. He may get his chance soon.

Diego Pastore again was the team's top scorer, and has signed a new contract meaning he has 5 years left on it. He is approaching his 100th goal steadily and has played 169 league games for the club - not bad for a 21 year old.

Fabio Calabrese - has gone to Lecce, and doesn't have the potential to be interesting. He won't appear again, I promise - unless something exceptional happens to him at some stage!

Gianfranco Dalla Bona has set about making the left-back position his own, and done a pretty good job of it, the 17 year old, has the potential to be a great player. He is no longer unambitious.

Great season PRDH. Europe next year for sure :)

We've just gone through to our second UEFA Cup final. I'm in shock really. I guess Inter Milan isnt what they once where. Zlatan is 35 and playing in swedish side Malmö. Their whole squad is new really. Still they have Balotelli, Hamsik, Pandev, Keirrison, Ninis, etc and some of the best regen-players in the game.

We won 1-0 away in a game that was closer than I thought it'd be. Costil got a man of the match award for his performance in goal, and japanese winger Yoshimi put away one of our two chances. I expected to not be as lucky at our ground, but we where the better team and at one point the commentary was "FC Mulhouse are really bringing the game to Inter". 2-0 the final result. Liverpool waiting in the final.

In between the two games Costil got another Man of the match performance as we beat Lyon 1-0 in the league. Still behind them though. We've lost points to weaker sides as we've had to play backup players and youngsters in the tight match-program.

I think, I just think that Sachsen Leipzig will be able to qualify for the Champions League this season. Halfway through the season, and we're alternating between 2nd and 3rd. Bear in mind that I've never played in Europe before :p

Praying I don't jinx it :)
