I find friendlies to be a crucial experience in any FM, since I start unemployed and need to see what tactics work and which of my players are useful in a team I never heard of lol.

Always let the assistant do it, I like to spend pre season concentrating on transfers. Also i've played most of FM08 in Germany so pre season is the German League Cup rather than friendlies.

I always play the ass man organizes pre-season friendlies and even organise some myself during the season if needed to act a reserve games to keep players fit and try out trialists, but only against teams where I don't make any money (or at least as little as possible)

If i am confident about my tactics and i do not have many changes in my starting 11 i will assign assman to do them , at the start of the game i see myself playing a lot of them .

I always play them, I'll usually give 22 players a run out (2 for each position) and I like to control when the subs happen because some players will be match fit already, some will be lacking match fitness (play them for a bit more than 45 mins) or some will be tired (bit less than 45 mins).

assistant arranges them but i definitely watch them, handle the subs etc... i try and make use of them, don't count on my assistant in that particular issue, no matter how great he may be...

ALWAYS play friendlies, normally its 10 friendlies, mixed with tours and cups and make sure all first team players are left fully fit out of it

No, I wont play friendlies. Maybe the bigger ones, and my annual game v Watford.

But I wont change my ways just because of 3D, I want it to seem like more when I play proper games.

i always play my friendly games especially because you can field 22 players during the game to get match fitness which the assman doesnt do.

Nope. Maybe the odd one against clubs I like and I will also probably play my first pre-season but after that I think my AM can deal with them.

Never have played them, never will. The gimmick of 3D will wear off after a while, just like it did with 2D.

I don't think the 2D pitch has worn off, I still find it one of the main reasons I play FM. The realism of this engoine is the best on the market and if the 3D is right (like they are claiming) then i will use this!

I find controlling my team for the friendlies an unwanted disruption to sorting out my squad for the upcoming season. I put my assistant manager to take them and concentrate on more important aspects.
