podunkboy
Damned Celtic hooligans trying to burn our stadium down during the League Cup final... It goes to PKs... What do you call 8 cups in a row...an "Octo-peat"? the first time Neil Lennon ever said anything nice about us - I'm going to frame it and hang it on the wall! And to Mr. Baker and the rest of the team (most of the 'dozen on ToY!) (And to the others w/ individual awards too!) Another Treble...lets make it four next season! And, you misread that....Lennon's "positive remark" was...only barely that....he can come up with better if he wants to praise you!

podunkboy
BTW, Zia's profile is showing only a 12-game Premiership ban, which should put him back the first week in October. Since he just got back from summer break and immediately injured himself (3 weeks), I may just keep him at the club, training and getting some spot duty in the early cups and reserve games. I don't want to send him out on loan and come back with a torn hamstring from some crap pitch.

podunkboy
this year, in the "real" Scottish Premier League, the leader in red cards only has 2 in 34 games...so Salman might have a record! I'm not sure if the escalating suspensions agree with the Scottish FA rules, but I did see an instance where a player got 8 games for punching and kicking an opponent after being red-carded. I don't think Salman's done that in any of his ejections, but you'd think by that last ejection he shot a puppy or something.
Chao Yang
He committed unspeakable crimes against humanity on a football pitch. Even Rui Faria only got a 6 game ban after cursing at a ref.
podunkboy
The upgrades keep coming at Stirling Albion we got the NICE jerseys now! I love spending other people's money: Fan's Playa of the Year is: We're number 12, we're number 12! maybe now that Vroom is gone, Kinkaid can slip into 5th place on the jersey sales chart next year? Speaking of Vroom: another renewal: There IS a sheepskin jacket I've had my eye on for quite a while... I guess there are no easy groups in Champions Cup play you know what would have made us better? If he'd stayed with Stirling instead of commentating from afar. August went well for us.
podunkboy
Hmm, wondered why McRuaridh hadn't been showing up on the Scotland team pool selection screen, he ran off and joined the Faroe Islands squad! He was one of my go-to stalwart lads on the U-19 team, but behind Jaya and Vroom on the right and Wallace on the left, he wasn't going to get likely senior squad duty. Of course, now he'll never have a sniff of the World Cup, either. But really, I'm happy that he's happy. Scotland's march through World Cup qualifying goes on. MacTavish sure delivered in his start against Bosnia-Herzegovina A close loss hurts almost as much as a several-goal loss. Changed my skin, sorry about the shock to the system - we get one back in Champions Cup play.
G_D_K
Looks like another year for greatness. podunkboy
Josh Crane's sticking around... a World Cup qualifying update for England and Scotland's respective groups It wouldn't be a major competition without Balmont pulling up lame... Check out McFlynn's International stats (4 appearances, 5 goals, 2 assists for jolly old England) International stats Don't know what happened here, our U19 side for Stirling's generally better than this (I was busy with the World Cup Qualifying) Scotland moves on in World Cup qualifying, although France edges us for first in the group by 3 against goals So we draw Belgium in the qualification finals - I have a bad feeling about this... England won their group and automatically qualifies. I never tire of the constant accolades...
podunkboy
Ah, nothing fixes what's wrong in the Champions like a game against Maccabi Tel-Aviv (the only team I walked away from in a save in total disgust) 16 games into a 38 game season, I'd say our form is impeccable... Here's our 16 games in stats lines... I don't know, I think Belgium might be beatable, if we can just score more goals than they do... So, the next time someone complains about the number of Stirling players on the Scotland national team...show them this: and the final round of World Cup qualifying stats And...The World Cup draw: I rather like Scotland's chances to advance from our group - Italy scares me, but Australia and Columbia are both winnable matches. England getting Mexico, Uraguay and the Netherlands...sheesh, that'll be fun.

podunkboy
One of the best things about knocking Celtic from the Scottish Cup - one less opportunity for Neil Lennon to blather about how great he is... Scotland's booked its training facilities for the World Cup - forecast...sunny and well above comfortable (we burn easily!) Pushing on in Champions play... This came through - declined without much thought as they're last in the Premier (9 points in 12 games) and the situation looks grim there. No way am I leaving Champions Cup play and 1st place in the SPL for bottom of the barrel Norwich. Balmont's still with us (and his agent's fee put me over the $10 million in agents fees paid mark)

podunkboy
it was so tempting - I had a interview offer come in for Chelsea, 6th place in the EPL, and all they wanted was qualification for the next year. But since we're still in Champions, both Scottish Cups, 1st place in the league and all the remaining Dozen are signed to long-term contracts...I just couldn't do it. podunkboy
Nice to have qualification wrapped up by February (not losing a league game to this point helps...) podunkboy
The reward for beating Arsenal...getting FC Bayern This was fun - the same time THIS was going on (a meaningly friendly with 8 Stirling starters in the squad) Our fairly-depleted club squad (reserves and U-19's included) were holding to a draw against Celtic in the Scottish Cup Sure was nice that the Scottish FA didn't notice 8 starters gone and no offer of a re-schedule... Oh, England had a friendly against Spain, check out McFlynn... We paid Celtic back in the Cup replay, McDouglas is PotM

podunkboy
Alexander Jaya, heartbreaker, record breaker, all-around Scottish Indonesian Goal Maker? He's just a goal-creating freak of nature, he's stayed relatively injury-free, but I have to send him on vacation 2-3 weeks a year, which is fine because we have so much cover. I don't know what to do next season, though, we have George Mikkelbust and Rene Taucher, both AML/AMR/ST out on loan for the past couple years, and Mikkelbust is Motherwell's top scorer, Taucher was doing great until he broke his leg. I think I'm going to have to shop at least one of them.

podunkboy
Nice new contract to ensure my feet are staying firmly in Stirling wooop wooop Liverpool came offering Baker a job...The temptation was really really there...but I'd almost feel like I'm betraying Scotland by moving to England. But the way the Premier League churns through coaches, I'll have plenty opportunities.
podunkboy
Home leg against Bayern FC and a tie on our continental visit puts us through First leg at home (semi-final) against Tottenham but alas, once again Tottenham has our number (and that number is "1 shot", evidently...) G_D_K
Glad to see Captain Kincaid sticking with Coach Baker --- would really hate to see Baker the boss leave. podunkboy
Ordinarily, this wouldn't be news, but after last season's violent tendencies, we've made it through the entire season without a single red card and only 2 4-game suspensions for yellow cards. Five straight - we're running out of fingers for our championship rings! Vroom's got the wandering boots - just signed with Wigan, moving on to Juventus. wrapped up another 2... podunkboy
Talk about an anti-climactic Scottish League Cup final - sometimes, one team doesn't belong on the field with the other team. podunkboy
Must have been hovering over the "goals" - McFlynn had 21, sorry. Even McDouglas had 3 assists, overall a nice distribution of points. and our match results for the year:

podunkboy
7-0....is that a cup final record? It is for the length of the save, and yes, after further research, the only thing close is a Celtic win over Rangers 7-1 in 1958 in the League Cup final. All-time League Cup margin of victory for any game is Ayr over Dumbarton 11-1.
podunkboy
(can't keep up with all the screen caps, really need to take some time off of the game...) podunkboy
Next Up...the World Cup! (Having a blast, wish you were here, Qatar is LOVELY in June...if you're a camel!) (they didn't mention the odds for England, I'm sure they're between Holland and Scotland) We lead off the Scotland WC campaign with three 'Binos in a pod... England counters with a Kinkaid PotM (Velagic of Holland gives up a penalty) and down goes McFlynn, England's best current striker... Sales update (still can't break captain Kinkaid into the top 5 jersey sales, even after losing Vroom...which to his credit, is a great name on the back of a jersey!) podunkboy
Wooot, player of the year! Out of curiosity, how many assists did I end up making?30 in-league (35 games), 41 overall. Thing I can't figure out is, why no one has ever come in with a serious, legitimate offer...for any of the players. The English managers are always at the games, talkin about transfers, but they always offer value, nothing more, which I'm never going to agree to.

podunkboy
Wooot, 41 assists!Honestly the offer will probably skyrocket more once we've made real headway into winning a CL or the Scottish league improves in rep some more! well, without any "spoilers" for upcoming screen shots, Scotland is ranked 3rd in the world and the SPL is the 6th best league (whoops, those are pretty big spoilers...I'd better get to posting the screenies). podunkboy
can't win every game in the World Cup, evidently. England ties up Mexico... Felix Vroom gets a brace to close out Columbia. and England closes down Uruguay. I even took time out to watch the game, but the press were at a loss to explain why. (Um, how about "2 players of mine play for England, Scotland's (at least for now) part of Great Britain, and maybe I'm scouting potential opposition?) Moving on from pool play, Scotland draws team Japan. The final 16 knockout pairings Wow, the US didn't seem to have any trouble with Saudi Arabia (wonder how they made it this far?)
podunkboy
Moving on, as the Japanese are little trouble for us... England edges Switzerland (with neither Kinkaid nor the injured McFlynn in sight) Hey, who wants some Mexican take-out? England edges Italy, Kinkaid back in the squad but down goes the USA to Czech Republic (and our back-up goalie Volsik) (a curious aside - Volsik's actually rated a better goalkeeper than McDouglas, we might have to go to a rotation)
podunkboy
One team's dream comes to an end (should have played Kinkaid...) but Bonny Scotland...is...in...the...FINAL! (although Baker's Dozen doesn't seem to be getting much love on the scoreline - but there's no "I" in "team scotland".) 3rd place game - England does itself proud. And as for Scotland - one goal, the difference between the world cup title and second place... to be that close, and watch someone else raise the cup... Team Scotland's WC stats: B's Dz didn't even place a player on the dream 11, or the subs. Better luck in 4 years, lads - the "4th place in the world" ranking should help. WTG Scotland----next time its yours for the taking (assuming my England team don't beat ya to it ;-) ) I'm thinking I'm giving it 4 more years for the 2026 World Cup - the "dozen" will be around 29 and if they don't put it together then, they never will. The save will have run 18 years at that point and FM 15 will be approaching. That will be 3-4 years longer than I've ever run a continuous save.
