An aside to all who have signed up: I appreciate those of you who periodically check in and comment, I just wish there were more of you. While I am enjoying the challenge/sign-up/save and the development of the players (and coach Baker), it's always more enjoyable if those of you who submitted players participate in the on-going story and discussion. If you don't care enough about your virtual Dozen-ite to comment, then there's little motivation for me to continue to post the screen captures, and even less motivation to keep your player at Stirling. /rant over. (sorry, I'm just a great fan of Scottish football, and my yearly long-term save almost always ends up in the Great Blue North, mostly because I enjoy knocking Neil Lennon down a peg or two.) podunkboy
So solid Mcs all aroud, anyone else want Macdonalds after that? I could do with a bag of fries right now. Related side project (because I simply don't spend enough time with FM each day...wonder where my wife ran off to?): I'm thinking about going into the original database, changing the Stirling coach to automated Baker, making Scott Baker "favored personnel" for all the Dozen players (to keep them more loyal at the start) and just running a career holiday for 20 years, see where they end up without all my messy and selfish interference. Likely that they all get snatched up and Baker gets kicked to the curb within 18 months, but you never know. I suspect that those who declare for Scotland might make some waves in the World Cup, maybe knock out England? But that's a secondary project for now, I've still got "Nature vs. Nurture" (need to get back on that horse), my Curepipe save in the UEFA World League, my low-level American save, etc...and wherever else I'm going. The real problem is my DoF is just looking for a reason to spend our wage and transfer budget, and he keeps negotiating contracts which I feel compelled to approve because, well, shiny new objects always catch my eye. In any event, we're only spending 1/2 our wage budget, and have $15 million left in our transfer kitty. I'm hoping if I return enough of the budget to them, we'll get a new stadium soon. podunkboy
Well hopefully MacT doesn't demoralize the whole team with his wanting to leave, maybe he will smarten up I was afraid of the relationship going further south, so I did ask team captain Kincaid to have a chat with him (since we're presently paying Kincaid quite a bit of money to go make appearances at shopping malls and meet-and-greets.) Honestly, in the past, when a player is constantly nagging to talk to a bigger club, and they make it public...I've transfer-listed them. And if they leave, I still remain on their favored personnel list. (I really take the role-play aspects of being a manager seriously, often more seriously than I should. My wife hates it when I sit at the dinner table, stewing because one of my players is out-of-form and demanding more first-team time.) And I'm so MAD at Celtic's Neil Lennon. The other day, he was slagging me and the team's form because we weren't meeting expectations...sure, we're in 8th place after 8 games, but we're only 6 points out of 2nd place, and we've played 2 fewer games, and still have 30 more league games. Honestly, next game, win or lose, I'm going to shake his hand while simultaneously kicking him square in the biscuits.

podunkboy
wow...bad time to be had by all! What's our pitch like? Medical staff? Training regimen? We're still sharing a pitch with Stirling University, but I've played on some really lousy fields with fewer injuries. I always back off the high-level fitness training after about 6 weeks, and player fitness seems good, and I think our fitness coach is like an 18. If I had to guess, it's our tactics, they're rather high-pressure with lots of tackles, and the SPL is no place for fancy lads afraid of a confrontation. Maybe the kids just can't handle high-level football yet.

podunkboy
Looks a decent player Balmont but no caps forScotland WTF!!! probably playing some scab that plays for C*lti* actually, according to his current profile, he does have one cap for Scotland (and 7 U21 appearances, 1 U21 goal). I thought maybe he was holding out for Luxembourg.

podunkboy
a few months of updates, let us begin: Stirling now moving up the "richest teams" list, we break the top 100: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=240447864 We make our first big transfer sale (no, not one of the 13): http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=240447805 (Vegar was good, but he wasn't a world-beater, we'll get along fine) QPR came in with an interview offer (declined, I'm happy here): http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=241144080 Here's the previously-missed Felix Vroom screener: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=241190924 I love pre-season friendlies (check out the # shots): http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=241690311 Odds are good we'll be challenging for the Premier title: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=241690339 our Euro Cup opener, we announce our presence with authority: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=241690351 and we continue our continental play: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=241690380 Our pre-Premier season form: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=241690416 Now, here's my rant -- check out who's NOT playing/registered for Girondins Bordeaux in the Euro Cup: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=241995107 and who IS registered to play: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=241995108 ...mostly youth and grayed-out players. Sure, it makes it easier to advance, but the game isn't even TRYING if it's not registering its first-team opponents for continental play. So, after drawing at home, we go on the road and win 2-0. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=241995118 Here's our new tactic (beats Hearts 3-0). I really like the attacking nature, and with a solid 4-block in the middle, very little gets through. Fulham bids $15 million for William Wallace...and I turn it down? http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=241995114 (he gets all cranky about it later). 27 at the club are called up for internationals (our youth program's looking up) http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=241995126 Here's our Group stage in the Euro Cup: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=241995127 Jaya PotM in 1-1 draw at Vitesse http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=242262572 McDonald is Young PotMonth for September (Kincaid 2nd) http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=242262586 and Baker's Head Coach of the Month http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=242262595 Sevilla gives us little trouble: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=242588248 Selfish self-promotion - Baker's U19 Scotland team advances in the Euro U19 Championship stages http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=242588262 but the Scotland senior team fails to qualify for the world cup (should have used more of Baker's Boys) http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=242588289 MacTavish...he tears his hamstring, out 2 months http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=242588274 I'm liking the Euro Cup, we should play it more often: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=242588300 Our match results through October: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=242588311 and look at us, top of the table, 4 points to the good: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=242588325 and another coach of the month: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=242588329 We qualify for the knockout round with a game to spare: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=242928312 I don't get this, 14 games unbeaten streak, leading the league, and yet this news item suggests that we have no business in this position (even though oddsmakers put us at even to win) http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=242928277 Finally, Matty McFlynn gets a senior call-up for England http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=242928293 McDonald with a pesky hernia: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=242928301 Balmont is Young Player of the Month for November (Kincaid 2nd...again) http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=242928328 Oh, so tempting, Everton from the EPL came calling, but politely declined http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=242928334 McDouglas wins a PotM while playing injured in goal (no back-up keeper) http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=242928356 we finish in first of our Euro Cup group (lost the meaningless last game 2-1) http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=242928370 and oh, yeah, I asked the board for a stadium: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=242928388 We need one, we've been sharing with Stirling University, we have to play our road games in a rented stadium, and we're nearly selling out our 3,800 seat stadium. If we clinch 1st place and go to Champions League play, we'll need it (and we've got piles of money sitting around).
podunkboy
Next up in the Euro Cup, we draw Leverkusen. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=243405344 and if we survive that, we get FC Twente or AS Monaco FC http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=243405363 Zia wins Young Player of the Month for December http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=243405369 Third round, Scottish Cup, Vroom gets a hat trick http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=243405382 William Wallace, earlier threatening mutiny (while also vice-captain), signs a two-year extension http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=243405395 Hopefully, this means an upcoming run on the salary coffers as the rest of the 13 fall in behind him. and once again, to reiterate: An aside to all who have signed up: I appreciate those of you who periodically check in and comment, I just wish there were more of you. With the exception of Kincaid, McFlynn, MacTavish, McRuaridh, Wallace and Balmont, if I don't hear something soon, I'm setting the remaining players asking price at 2x value, and setting it to "accept bids that meet asking price". I will still shortlist/follow their careers from a distance, but if you can't stop in for the occasional thumbs up/non-communicative grunt, I'm not going to keep making the effort. At least acknowledge that you're stopping in to read periodically.
