  1. Ahh, THAT'S the charm of true LLM, even if you have the money, prospective staff won't move to your club because the move will mess up their personal lives. Easiest solutions: poach staff from other teams at or below your level, pick up a free agent who's profile mentions they want to move into Scouting/coaching/physio when they retire, send older players for leadership courses (if you have the money), keep running the ad until someone pops up and just try to hold the team together until then. Bottom level clubs likely don't have a fully-staffed backroom, and even if they do, they're so crap that they're not going to benefit most players in training. I play LLM every year, and it's always a struggle until you get a team promoted to the league system or you manage well enough to get hired away.
  2. judging from the Bugs forum, this was a problem last year that was never fixed, and apparently won't be fixed this year, either, so I guess I'm just going to have to manually schedule constant friendlies for the U21s.
  3. still not working, neither my U-21 team (which doesn't have a league) or my U-18 team schedules a friendly each week when requested. Players won't develop if they don't play...ever.
  4. I had my club (Greystoke) set my weekly payroll at $1400/week and make us semi-professional when we clinched promotion, and then after the final game of the season, I got a message from the board that the payroll was now set at $400/week. None of the existing players would re-sign for less than the entire weekly payroll and any free agents who were interested in signing wouldn't accept a penny less than everything I had and more. I asked the board for a boost and they told me to quit bothering them...so I resigned and almost immediately got a job with Aveley in the National League South. I don't fight the board when they're determined to send the team into a tailspin, I just move on.
  5. I had the board sell my top prospect to a rival because of "an offer too good to pass up". Because of where the % of transfer funds available was set (even though we weren't in dire straights), there wasn't enough in the budget for a quality replacement. I was so angry I terminated all the staff contracts and resigned my position. Later ended up at a rival club, started poaching all my old players.
  6. VERY hard to believe a world where 6 months into the save entire leagues have no head coaches, my scouting team (admittedly two scouts and a head scout) has found only 3 players, and I have to play with a 6 player squad (the rest grayed out), because no one will sign with us because the team doesn't appear to be strong enough. LLM is absolutely a NO GO in FM 24.
  7. Holiday-ed for a year, took over a club where all the players are demanding a better contract and increased status even though 1) they're 2-stars or less 2) they averaged around a 6.0 for the season and 3) only made 3-5 appearances in the preceding season. When I go to negotiate they want 3x what they were making...if you only averaged a 6.0 for the season, I should be CUTTING your wage, not tripling it. They can kick off as much as they like, no one wants them even for free.
  8. I gave this every opportunity, but had to give up one save because EVERY player was complaining about playing time, even those who were starting games with limited fitness. Started another save, trying to hire staff that supposedly were interested in the position refusing to then listen to a job offer because the team isn't up to their lofty standards (even though they're unemployed). Posted an ad for the job, every staff member who applied for the job refused to then discuss the position. Eff it, I'm going to go play a game that's not broken sold by a developer who after 25 years consistently is releasing buggy crap.
  9. Player, Sebastien Lecuyer is on loan at Nancy (I'm managing OM). Player wants to be recalled because he says he's not getting enough playing time, except according to the Form screen at Nancy, he's played 13 of 13 games.
  10. My 19-year-old Columbian wonderkid newgen left back gets his first cap for Columbia, as always I congratulate the player, he pops off with a "well, it SHOULDN'T have taken this long!" Really? I'm managing Denmark's team and you have to be something special to even make the 23-man squad, let alone get capped. But I plow on with the "well, it's great that you've showed your patience and hopefully it's the start of a long and successful run" and here he comes back with "You don't need to be condescending to me, I KNOW how great I am!" and I suddenly realize that he's never going to see the pitch again at FC Koln unless it's a member of the groundskeeping crew, because I must destroy him now. I signed him for $1.2 million, he's worth $20 million now, and quite frankly the first team to offer $20 million+ can have him, if I haven't retrained him as a goalkeeper by then.
  11. I didn't see anything in that excessively non-specific features video that would make me run for my virtual wallet any time soon. I shall wait until I see something that even remotely intrigues me.
  12. New to FM '24 - force your player into a loveless marriage with an Andorran citizen. Might be easier to get them to marry an Andorian.
  13. Meh, my cellphone knows when I'm talking about pizza and pops up an ad in Facebook in response, I no longer worry about the constant surveillance.
  14. Well, fortunately FM's sound is crap, so I can play it silently while watching TV with the wife (although I rarely look up at the TV), but I'm also texting on my phone and playing my mobile game...I have a bit of a problem doing only one thing at a time.
  15. can you not click on the "position/role/duty" column at the top to sort them? Always works for me.
  16. Football...is the UNIVERSAL language! I'm amazed that in-game you can take a job in a country without speaking the language, and within 6-9 months, you're "fluent" in Polish or Senegalese. Sometimes in long-running saves I try to see how many languages I can collect. IRL I can only assume it's a combination of immersion, teammates who translate for them, bi-lingual coaches and in some instances a translator on the touchline.
  17. I did a save with Leverkusen, first transfer period Sardar Azoum demanded that I let him go to Man City, even though they wouldn't meet his value. The club's leaders then demanded I let him so, so I did. The fans were outraged, the board was upset that I let him go. He spent 3 years at Man City and scored 3 goals in 7 starts in those three years. Then they sold him to Madrid for half what they paid me and he did even less there. I took the money from his sale and bought Moukoku.
  18. yes, the only things I currently let the staff do is some of the media interviews and training (because at that level with these players only training a couple times a week, it really doesn't matter.) I don't want them anywhere near the contracts.
  19. Currently I'm managing a "Create a club" down in the depths of the German system. Because the staff at this level are awful, I generally suffer them for the length of their 1-year contracts, then let them run down and replace then with useful/qualified staff. I always hold all the contract responsibilities, but the DoF is never able to negotiate a contract with the players and if left to his own skills, I'll end up with a fitness coach with a 1 in Fitness. So here I am, end of season with dear Seegerberg, waiting for the contracts to run out, and I get a notice that the sports scientist has renewed his contract (which was NOT something I wanted.) I don't know if I should immediately start "mutual terminating" the remaining deadwood before the mystery person renews their contract (which is expensive, but I'm paying them the final month anyway). I just know I don't want to get stuck with an absolutely useless Technical Manager, Loan Manager and Fitness Coach with a 1 for another year.
  20. I gave into the madness years ago and accepted that 1) things don't always go your way 2) the world is an imperfect place and...oh, we're talking about FM, right? When you play FM, you get FM'ed. I've probably played 20,000+ hours of FM and it is what it is.
  21. I was playing a expanded world-league save a few years ago at Curepipe Starlight in Mauritius, and their pitch is literally GRAVEL. Pitch condition was pretty much awful all the time. (I did look up their stadium, it does say "Grass" surface, so maybe they've upgraded since then.)
  22. I always set myself for final contract approval, but it's rare that I get offers even made to fill out the U-19 squad.
  23. Just saw this question/problem (I don't hang out in the challenges forum much), the Overseas Territories bug was reported by me last year (when I was trying to do a sign-up trying to steer Reunion to the World Cup and win the French Cup with a team from Reunion, but France was poaching all my club players and I couldn't register Reunion players for my team.) Apparently SI didn't feel it was worth the effort to fix it, so the Territories team in the French Cup are unplayable/grayed out players.
  24. I use asymmetric tactics when the squad I'm given favor such a tactic (i.e. lots of players natural at AMR, but all my left midfielders aren't as good at AML.) And mostly because I really don't know what I'm doing, but by using asymmetric tactics, it makes me feel like a tactical genius .When I started playing back in FM'10, I knew absolutely NOTHING about tactics or "soccer" in general. And 20,000 hours of game time later, some would argue I haven't learned a thing.
