Some of McFLynn's stats have dropped, too - maybe we need a better fitness coach? Better coaching overall? Maybe it's normal fluctuation on a player that young that's starting 35-40 games? I signed some new, qualified help, but they're just not "the boys". And I tried to upgrade out staff (since we went professional the board has signed off on up to 12 "additional staff", but they've limited me to $1,800/wk for any coaches, and all the applicants want $2,500-$12,000/wk. podunkboy Posted January 28, 2014 Author Share Posted January 28, 2014 FYI - I had to drop back to the off-season save, because I had a Euro Cup roster that only had 13 available players because the other 12 were registered for Cup play but were away to the U-19 championships for 3 weeks. Also I had messed up hiring the new staff, it was just an unrecoverable situation. So, when I got to the U-19 call-ups, I only let half the players picked go to the championships. I am also hopeful that with the promotion to the Premier League, Baker's Dozen will be happy to play at that level for at least the length of their contracts - some of the bids coming in are getting silly, but I'm turning them all down, and it doesn't seem to be upsetting the boys yet. We're in 3rd, 3 points ahead of St. Mirren. A tie or a St Mirren loss sends us to the Euro. No pressure lads, right? Maybe a run in the Euro keeps Kinkaid happy enough to stick around? BTW, our veteran striker, Miller, announced his retirement, so I hired him as a coach, he has good stats, I wanted to give him a starter job until someone comes calling. If any of you still remaining want to consider a "significant upgrade in pay and prestige" next season, let me know and I'll consider any killer transfer offers for your services. If you want to remain as a humble member of "Baker's Dozen" and take the world, I'm fine with that. (Midseason, I was afraid I wouldn't be back next year, but it's likely Baker's going to start attracting attention soon if the team continues their upward run.)
