I should have some screenshots/updates tomorrow - got my FM14 migrated over to my new, super-fast laptop and have simmed the first month of the season. With youngsters this green, we're still a "work in progress", but 10 of the thirteen got call-ups to the Under-21 and Under-19 squads. Bigger squads are going to start noticing, but we all knew that going in. Had a great cup game 2-2 that went to penalties, ending 11-10, but when I clicked "continue", I had a crash dump and had to re-play it. Probably best, as goalkeeper McDouglas missed the kick that would have continued the penalties.

Decent start for Salman Zia. Certainly not a show stopper

Well, it's still a little early, no one's consistently great yet. But it's rather telling that Stirling's providing half the Under 19's squad for Scotland (which makes league game days fun during international call-ups.) Yes, I can play my bench, but then I have to fill the bench with 1/2 *s from the reserves. If Stirling's expected to continue playing league games during Internationals, there should be a "no more than 4 players from a single squad" rule or something. BTW, Stirling's one point off the top, and if we can get all our players in the same time zone, we can make a run.

Oh MacTavish great scoring efforts. How many games in the season are we now? I guess not enough to get a general average?
I'm posting behind, I'm about halfway through October now. Still in both the League Cup and Scottish Cup, which is nice for the team pocketbook. BTW, MacTavish tweaked his knee, out for 4-5 weeks.

Ronald McDonald gets 3 yellow cards, and gets a 4-game suspension? I don't think this database is completely accurate. Well, he was getting tired/jaded, so I sent him on a 2-week vacation to Tahiti...it's a magical place.

November 23rd, and the Stirling side is 6 points up in 1st place. Even when I send the lads out for international play, and ask them to play only 45 minutes, the national coach plays them for a full game. Don't want to hold them out of competition, but losing the entire side for a week at a time isn't optimal. There really should be a limit on players from one team, because no other team in our league is losing more than one player.

I've been busy tonight, got us to midseason/end of December. I think we're doing fine:

our run, to date: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=219128599

league standing and stats: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=219128575

team stats (goals/assists/rating): http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=219128584

how about this game in the Scottish Cup against Dalkeith Thistle: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=219128561 (they didn't even get a shot off...)

Financially, the wins in the cups has kept the pennypinchers off our backs, we might look during the transfer period for a couple players to tighten things up, and I might be looking to move some of our older reserves that aren't going to be getting 1st-team action. Really, though, we seem to be on target for promotion with a few games to spare.

the last 5 pic links on post 65 are all the same

well, that is odd - when I posted them, they all had different numbers, I always check to make sure I didn't post the same picture twice, and now I've got 5 of them. I'll try to log into Steam and find the correct pics again in a while.

McRuaridh seems to be struggling a bit :(

Yes, he really hasn't got on track, he's serving a suspension right now, AND he twisted his ankle so he's been out for about a month.

Getting into mid-February now, we just played a game in 1-degree Celsius high wind and hail, were hit with 6 yellow cards (won 2-1), and now we've got 3 players out with a 4-match suspension, MacTavish gashed McDonald's arm, so he's out for 6-9 days...but we're up 12 points in 1st.

In other news, most of Baker's Dozen have already signed pre-contracts to extend their service, although Scott Baker's continued employment at Stirling Albion is still in doubt, as the board hasn't even extended a preliminary contract extension yet. We're nearing the end of the cups and regular season, and thanks to results, we should end the season in the black financially.

I haven't posted EVERY screen shot I've taken during the save, so if you're bored you can always see them here:

Grumble, grumble: I get them their promotion with several games to spare, I keep the payroll in limits, I put them solidly in the black with deep cup runs (of which we're STILL in the running for the Scottish and League Cup), and their offer for the next year: $5,500/wk payroll (the same as this year's), a $10K transfer budget (which is only there because I transferred $10K in there from payroll last year so I could do some business during the transfer period)...and a reduction in salary from $850/wk to $800/wk and no bonus for promotion. I walked out, and I'll wait until they get serious. I can't even ask them to re-lay the pitch, because we rent our stadium.

That is ridiculous! Stick it too them! I am however please mactavish is doing so well in internationals, not so pleased hes underperforming at home, however MacTavish and McFlynn seem like an insane duo =)

MacT and McF are like one of those baseball duos where one hits home runs on the road and the other is a homer homer. But it's one year, they're still young, and although McFlynn was leading the team in overall goals, now that he's out injured MacTavish is picking up the pace. I need to figure out how to get both of them on the field together, much of the time I'm playing a single striker with attacking wingers, we might have to work on position specialization next season.

As to be expected with these kids, the goals are raining in from everywhere. I'm glad I'm "playing" this season instead of just holidaying, I'm enjoying the games.

Yeah maybe a nice 4-4-2 standard or a 2-6-2 could be interesting. I would love to see them both up there, maybe have one as an F9 the other as a AF? something like that. Well whatever you decide as you said they are both young.

BTw did you set the PA for any of these guys or is it just random?

I actually used a random number generator site, put in a minimum/maximum value, and just hit "generate" 13 times. I didn't want to spoil the surprise factor, so no one will know their player's PA -- although as time goes on, I'm sure some players are going to be in higher demand than others (although there's less than 30 points between top and bottom player, and no one is "super World Class".) I didn't want to overwhelm the Scottish league system with that much firepower.

So, the U-19's games come up, and 11 of Baker's Dozen have been called up, and the dates coincide with the Scottish Cup final and the League Cup final - so I pulled all 11 off the squad. I'll be darned if I'm going to play the two biggest games of the year with 1/2 star scrubs. Besides, the international manager keeps playing my boys for a full 90 when I request 45 minutes, and they come back exhausted and unable to play for almost a week or more.

So, 1st season's over, I'll take end-of-season player screenshots and stats and post them in the next day or two, hopefully, so I can 1) concentrate on getting Baker's contract renewal/extension (now, it's going to cost them a 2-year contract!) and 2) build the team for Championship League play next season. Oh, and give Scott a couple weeks vacation...

The first shark in the water, post-promotion. Do I take this rather generous loan-back agreement, that will benefit the club while allow Ronald to continue his development with us, or wait for what will likely result in better offers.

that would be a no from me :)

Oh, I don't want to sell them this coming year, we're going to head for the Premier as fast as we can. Besides, the club is in great condition financially, so there's no board pressure. BTW, Scott Baker extended his contract for 2 years at the princely sum of $900/wk. I'm sure that if Stirling starts making some noise in the Championship League, the board will sweeten the deal. Also, the Scotland Under 20's are looking for a head coach, might go for it, just so I can control the amount of call-ups from the home club.

5 goals and top AvR for the year (joint top AvR anyways). Not bad for Mr. Kincaid!

Disappointed with the development though....low professionalism? Or less than ideal facilities? :(

well, we're getting an upgrade in facilities, and I'll keep pushing for more, but it'll be a race to see if the facilities will be adequate before everyone gets snatched up and moves away. And in a couple weeks I'm dumping our less-than-stellar coaches for improvements.
