podunkboy
Massive build-up of screen caps to start posting, I was on a big push of playing before school starts for the kids and I can't stay up all night... First off - idiot in the press pool wants to know if we can handle the climate during the European Championships...which are being played...in...England. League Cup, no problem with East Fife... Champions Cup, we get all up in GNK Dinamo's business, 5-2. Our reward in the first knock-out round...we get Juventus. Scottish Cup, we outshoot Falkirk Juniors 37 to 1, win 4-0 (probably need to work on our accuracy in shooting.) Last-(extra)minute win in the League Cup. Only 100 games away from an even 1000 at Stirling. Best Headline ever, given who wins Man of the Match... Balmont beats Juventus with the winning goal, but Butland wins MotM? ...but then Balmont bags a brace against Motherwell in League Cup demolition. podunkboy
MacT and Balmont tag-team Raith in Scottish Cup play Look what we did to Juventus at Stirling stadium! Steam ate my homework: We held Man City to a 2-2 tie at home, lost at Man City 0-2 to get knocked out, once again, from the Champions Cup (League). One goal does it to see off St Mirren in Scottish Cup action. We wrap up our 11th straight League title a month early. Our free-transfer Spanish stud striker breaks his arm, out 5-6 weeks. McFlynn gets jealous about all the attention Calzado's getting, twists his ankle, out 3-4 week. Jaya gets a new hat (trick) in League Cup final against Celtic (now with 100% less Lennon...) We can't get the Scottish Cup done at home, tie Kilmarnock 2-2... so we take the Cup at their house, 2-0. Teron and Wallace lead the way (Teron doesn't get enough press for what he does...) podunkboy
And now, a series of season-ending league awards.. Jaya is the Players' Playa... Calzado's the Writer's Player of the year (Balmont finishes 2nd...) Vidal (our other Spanish stud DM) wins Premiership Player of the Year in an all-Stirling sweep of the top 3 places. Scottish Players' Young Player of the year...a Stirling youth product on loan at Kilmarnock, Aritz Martinez. another of our youth products wins Premiership Young Player of the Year. and we sweep Goal of the Season... and probably a record: 9 of 11 places on the Premiership Team of the Year and I'm not going to brag, or post the screenshots, but yeah, won Coach of the Year and Writer's Coach of the Year...again. podunkboy
and some further end-of-season business... another stadium expansion, taking us up to 35,000 seats (remember cozy little Forthbank and its 2,200 seats?) Stirling Fan's Player of the Year is... Best 11... (We have so many great players our Best 11 list is 18 players long...) Despite being knocked out by Man City in the Champions, we still remain the 2nd-ranked European team. Our assman is taking one last victory lap of the league before retiring next May. Don't know how to replace him, or with whom... The annually-dreaded merchandising update...still no top-5 love for Kinkaid. Coming up this summer - no rest for most of the "Dozen" (and anyone else in a Stirling jersey) as the European Championships are being contested down the road in English Premier League country... check out the names of former Binos playing in the Euro Championship (there are some high-dollar players that started out with us as cast-offs). Oh, and let this be a lesson - don't agree to a release clause in a contract unless it's a fairly big one... We picked Calzado up as a free transfer (some spot-on scouting there!), paid him $25K/week to lead the team in goals, Arsenal comes in and drops $22.5 million like pocket change, and now he's in the EPL making $225K/week. Sorry to see him leave, but a great return on investment...
Chao Yang
Alas! Young cheap strikers are dime a dozen when the support crew is good though~ Good to see Jaya back among the top scoring peeps, is he a club legend yet?
podunkboy
Alas! Young cheap strikers are dime a dozen when the support crew is good though~ Good to see Jaya back among the top scoring peeps, is he a club legend yet? Currently McFlynn, MacTavish, Wallace, Jaya, Kinkaid and Vroom are legends (and Baker, of course). Don't know why Balmont didn't make the list...or McDonald...or Crane...maybe there's a limited number of legends. Calzado made the "favored personnel" list and was only here for a year. podunkboy
European Championship play: Down goes Russia: Scotland dumps Sweden 3-1 (although former Bino Axelsson scores one against Scotland) (I really believe that Stirling Albion has made European soccer better overall with our cast-offs.) down goes Romania... so we're moving on: Who wants some turkey (I mean Turkey)? Too close... Slovakia...not as close, thankfully. too bad Kinkaid retired from internationals and McFlynn's not getting selected anymore. But the dream ends at Wembley against the Orange... G_D_K
Shame Kincaid retired so early---I don't remember that much injury history...some small ones here and there. Did he miss most of that last World Cup he played in after the injury? Wasn't quite clear if he'd played more in the series or not. Still no love for him in the merchandising department either...not even after earning player of the year honors. Oh well..... in my next life I'll be a striker
Chao Yang
Alas! King of the Worlds but beaten in Europe , probably the last really competitive international competition for the batch?
podunkboy
Shame Kincaid retired so early---I don't remember that much injury history...some small ones here and there. Did he miss most of that last World Cup he played in after the injury? Wasn't quite clear if he'd played more in the series or not.Still no love for him in the merchandising department either...not even after earning player of the year honors. Oh well..... in my next life I'll be a striker I know he missed the English team due to injury and then McFlynn and Kincaid both quit being selected for the team. I think English players "out-of-country" have an uphill battle for selection, and when I select Scottish players for the national team who are playing in England the press always asks about "foreign-based players"...we're on the same island, can't we all just get along? I think the game defaults to attacking players as the highest jersey sales, I just think the team captain should sell as many jerseys as say the vice-captain. I'm going to try to get a few dozen more pics up before I go back to work on Wednesday (I've been off celebrating a "milestone" birthday with my family), the computers at work have IE 8 and they screw up the pics when I try to post them. podunkboy
Alas! King of the Worlds but beaten in Europe , probably the last really competitive international competition for the batch? Oh, don't want to drop any spoilers...but I'm in 2030, and Scotland's in the World Cup (oops, I said it...) I've pretty much decided that whatever the outcome, Scott Baker will step down as head coach of Scotland after the tournament. I've already led Scotland to a 2nd and a 1st place, and "the old guard" that I've been managing through those campaigns are beginning to retire. I just want to take the lads for one last run into World Cup play.
podunkboy
Come yee now for the testimonials of our stalwart lads: Kincaid: McFlynn gets a brace to honor Kincaid McFlynn: Midfielder Rui picks up a pair for McFlynn Oh, Laudrup stepped down at England's head coach - wonder if it was getting beaten by Scotland too many times? Wallace gets a testimonial (we had 5 this pre-season) It was a squeaker, with Jaya putting one by for his wingman Wallace. Cultured midfielder Balmont get his honor... McFlynn gets another brace, and Balmont helps his own cause. and the fifth was for longtime Danish player Mikkelson
podunkboy
Okay, back for more, although my Steam Community pics are a mess because I later discovered that there were pictures that never uploaded and they're mixed in with more current pics...and I'm clear up to January 2031, but I'm still reviewing pictures from 2028. So I'm going to try to move the story along more briskly... 2028-2029 Champions Cup group draw... Beginning of World Cup qualifying for 2030: Champions play: Chelsea WHO? So, we finally put some names on the World Golden Ball ballot list: We hung onto our Spanish free-transfer midfielder (by 2030 he's worth a ton of cash) Our US feeder team won the MLS... but the Dallas manager just didn't have time for a chat (or a friendly match). podunkboy
I'm not dead, I'm still plugging along (just wrapped up the 2031 season), my problem with posting the update pics is...at work, we're only running IE8, and between that and the security software, half the time either the posted pics or the pics still on Steam don't display, making it very difficult to find, post and comment on them. And when I'm home, I can't tear myself away from FM long enough to post pics (or do house chores, or prepare meals, or spend time with my kids, etc.) Well, there's 2 months until FM 15 drops, probably 3 months before I give in and buy it, so since we're nearing the end of the story I have plenty of time. However, if you can't wait, you could always click on the pics individually for any spoilers about the next two seasons (without my commentary, obviously) http://steamcommunity.com/id/podunkboy/screenshots/?appid=231670 Without massive spoilers, the past season has been both satisfying and disappointing. I let the squad bloat to unmanageable size, and spent most of the season dealing with demands for more playing time, demands for loans, demands for new challenges, etc. The game talks about wanting Stirling players, but they rarely actually bid on them, or if they do, it's an insulting bid that is less than player value or their original purchase price. Players get injured, and upon their return demand their rightful starting place, they demand to be transfer listed and then ask to be restored to good graces. By the end of the season, we've had 2 retirements of the "Dozen" and I may lose another couple of them in the off-season. So far, the only "definites" to return for the 2031-2032 season are Kincaid, McDonald, Wallace, Jaya...MAYBE Balmont - he had a bad season and is apparently blaming me for it... Anyways, I haven't resigned as Scotland's manager yet, although it's likely soon, I've given them a good 10+ years. I flirted with Chelsea when Mourinho retired this year, but they never approached me, even after I announced an interest. Stirling will never fire me, so I'm just waiting to step down after the lads depart (although McDouglas in goal re-upped for another 3 years...so we'll have to see about that). League Cup play: Scottish Cup: Stalwart captain Kincaid's sticking around to the end... A grand honor: Balmont makes the 2028 World Team of the Year:
podunkboy
Josh Crane get his promise broken, wants to be transfer-listed (I can't SELL him if nobody WANTS him...) Champions Cup play (yeah, we're still in it again...) and of course, once again...down goes Balmont. More Scottish Cup: 12th consecutive title... and far be it for me to brag about myself...but I am the greatest Scottish manager of ALL TIME!
podunkboy
getting close to that Champions Cup Book that place in the final... a long-term investment project - this kid was younger than the Dozen... Scottish Cup semifinal against Motherwell and that nasty Billy Davis (and Salman Zia's club) and nothing finer than the captain heading us into the Scottish Cup title over Falkirk! and oh, yeah, the League Cup over Aberdeen... We won the league by 22 points...not bad.
podunkboy
Oh, yeah, I should just leave this here to look at... BEAT THOSE CITIZENS! a Couple Binos on the Champions Dream Team. Final Team stats, sorted by goals, with career club goals included (MacT leads the team this year) and our new assman, since Carver retired (going to miss that guy, he was literally my right arm.) podunkboy
And before I sign out for the night...some awards: Stirling Fans Player of the Year...your captain, our captain... Best 11 of the Year Balmont is the Player's Player of the Year Stirling sweeps Premiership Player of the Season: 7 Binos on the Premiership Team of the Year and...oh, yeah, Baker won Writers Coach of the Year, and Clydesdale Bank Coach of the Year... podunkboy
So, 3 weeks later, from years into the future I come to you. And...I'm just going to skip ahead. If anyone's still following this thread and is that curious about the interim, the screenshots are all up on Steam, all 2063 of them: http://steamcommunity.com/id/podunkboy/screenshots/?appid=231670 It just got to the point that Steam dropped some shots and scrambled some others, and I can't find my place back 4 years previous, so I'm just going to pick up in the spring of 2030 as Stirling wraps up another epic season and Scotland prepares for the 2030 World Cup. League Cup: Scottish Cup (Sorry Gus, you lose again!): and of course, the Premiership: Which makes me, Scott Baker... Season ending stats: (Always liked how Wallace and Jaya were "Thunder and Lightning" on the wings, and how about Ronald McDonald's 16 assists this season, probably his best year.) and a Stirling sweep... a great result for Premiership Team of the Year
podunkboy
The friendlies in the run-up to the 2030 World Cup: Scotland doesn't have the oddsmakers on their side this time... Oh, yeah, fans Player of the Year and Best Eleven... World Cup... I HATE when this happens... What's really bad is losing your national goalkeeper, though... and out in the quarter-finals... and the final... Likely the last of the World Cup honors for the Dozen, unless McDouglas comes back in goal in 4 years.
podunkboy
Probably the last run of contracts for the remainders of the Dozen... Stalwart captain Kincaid holds a new record: and another sad and pending departure: McFlynn was always injured and couldn't make it back to the senior team consistently - at his age, it rarely ends well. podunkboy
Hmmm. that's odd, my post from earlier in the evening disappeared. Anyways, wrapping this up soon, as I've reached a year where only one of the Dozen is left as a player, the rest have retired or taken jobs as my assistant coaches. If anyone is left reviewing this thread and wants to see anything specific, let me know soon.
Chao Yang
I'd like one last hurrah review with the achievements~ Maybe a nice wrap-up of their career stats, etc. Most of us are trapped in FM 2015 I think XD
podunkboy
End of 2031 results... stats: Matty McFlynn has hung up his boots... 2019-2020 was his high-water season - fewer injuries and he could have have been great.
podunkboy
The Freddy Teron testimonial game, with the remaining 6 of the Dozen starting together. continuing on with the 2031-2032 season: As Baker's Dozen begin making post-playing career plans, Stirling Albion marches forward with another Scottish Premiership title, a Scottish Cup title 3-2 over Hearts, a loss in the finals of the Scottish League Cup to Celtic on penalty kicks 4-2 (Celtic scores a tie in injury time, McDonald goes off with an injury in the 108th minute, and with no goalkeeper on the bench, an overmatched Duane Kinkaid is forced to don the goalkeeper's jersey). In the run-up to the Champions Cup, Stirling notches a 3-1 win over Man Utd at Old Trafford on a hat trick by Tinothy Jones and holds on with a 3-3 return game at Stirling Stadium, setting them up for a Final against Bayern Munich. PK's for the win... So, that makes 3 Champions Cup titles at Stirling?...
podunkboy
3 seems like a nice round number...and, there was this: I was never gung-ho about moving to the British Premier League, but Bayern...it's very very tempting. So, I did it. Funny thing is...the guy whose job I took at Bayern (after beating him in the Champions)...he ends up at Stirling, coaching my players. If I wasn't rolling in Deustchmarks, I'd be hurt.
