Transfer to Atlético, I like it. icon14.gif

Immediately back into the starting lineup of Turkmenistan too, with an assist. icon14.gif

Hopefully Atlético will give Chaoconov's career a bit of a boost. The Anderlecht career wasn't all that impressive.

Kutgw!

Player Cam Match Report

Tues 22nd Sept: Lens v Liverpool – Champions League Group Stage

Jacariah Birkinaldo is on the bench for Liverpool, along with Alan.

Despite Lens having the better of the first half, Liverpool take the lead after 43 minutes through a Dirk Kuyt penalty after he was upended in the area. 0-1.

HT: Lens 0 v 1 Liverpool

Liverpool are down to 10 men after 50 minutes, when Miguel picks up a straight red card.

Just as it looked as if Liverpool might hold on to their slender lead, Lens equalise with 5 minutes to go after a move down the right wing. 1-1.

Then in the 2nd minute of injury time, Lens complete the comeback with a 25 yard freekick into the top right hand corner of the goal. 2-1.

FT: Lens 2 v 1 Liverpool

Disappointing that neither Birkinaldo nor Alan got on the pitch in the game.

The manager of Pompey has declared that he is delighted with the recent form of Ghoolbi Dumats (7-7-7-7-9). Dumats has stated that he is pleased with his recent form as well.

With 3 games to go in the Swedish Premierleague I thought I would produce a screenshot for Libertinho. Hacken are in mid-table, but not quite safe yet:

Sweden - Premierleague

The UEFA Cup First Round has been completed:

Selim Atas (7) was captain in Athletico Madrid’s 2nd leg 2-0 away victory against AaB, as they progressed 6-0 on agg.

Ghoolbi Dumats (7) played the whole match as Portsmouth drew 0-0 away to Atromitos. Pompey progress 2-0 on agg.

Elfdog was an unused sub as Watford (yes, Watford are in the UEFA Cup, after getting through the InterToto Cup) won 3-1 at home to St Johnstone in their 2nd leg match. Watford progess 5-2 on agg.

The draw for the group stages has yet to be made.

Habib Halali has a gashed head and will be out for 2 weeks.

France and Holland have become the latest countries to qualify for the World Cup 2010. more European teams will qualify in the forthcoming week when the main group stages will be complete.

The UEFA Cup Group Stage draw has been made and it has produced an absolute belter of a group from a Kyrgyzstan + Turkmenistan perspective:

Group A: No relevant interest (though PSV are in this group)

Group B: No relevant interest.

Group C: Athletico Madrid, Chelsea, Napoli, Portsmouth, Dortmund.

Group D: Lyon, Fenerbahce, Hearts, Real Sociedad, Zenit St Petersburg.

Group E: Watford, Grasshopper, Steaua Bucharest, Schalke, FC Twente.

Group F: AC Milan, Athletic Bilbao, Kayserispor, Marseille, Sparta Prague.

Group G: No relevant interest.

Group H: No relevant interest (though Barcelona are in this group)

Group C will be very interesting, hopefully 3 out of the 4 teams will progress but Dortmund could spoil the party. With the likes of Chelsea, AC Milan, Barcelona, Lyon and PSV in the UEFA Cup this season, this competition looks to be very strong.

De Santiago has broken a finger and will be out for a month.

Bulgaria, England, Turkey and Portugal have won the remaining 4 groups to be decided in the European section and join the 5 countries (France, Germany, Holland, Italy and Spain) in the World Cup. Czech Rep have also qualified by being the best 2nd placed team.

The European Playoffs to decide who joins these 10 nations are:

Greece v Sweden

Ukraine v Denmark

Switzerland v FYR Macedonia

Romania v Russia

You may be wondering how and why Macedonia have got to the playoffs. They finished 1 point ahead of Serbia and 2 ahead of Austria + Belgium, but a massive 13 points behind winners Germany. In an eye raising result, Germany (who had won 9 out of 9 games till this point), drew 0-0 away to Macedonia in the last round of games to ensure Macedonia’s progress to the playoffs.

As this forum has mainly British people in it, here are the home countries details:

Scotland finished 4th in their group, 3 points off the playoff spot, behind Spain, Greece and Israel.

Wales finished 3rd in their group, 8 points off the playoff spot, behind Holland and Romania. Northern Ireland finished 5th in the same group, 7 points behind Wales and with Slovakia separating them in 4th.

Rep. of Ireland finished 3rd in their group, 6 points off the playoff spot, behind France and Switzerland.

England won their group (9 wins, 1 draw) by 6 points from Denmark.

Kyrgyzstan (38th) v (55th) Slovenia

Sat 7th Nov: Friendly

Pre Match

9 superkids start the match for Kyrgyzstan. The captain is Azeryk and the key man is David Frketic. Alan is on the subs bench.

My Opinion

This is the type of game Kyrgyzstan should be looking to win the majority of the time. Therefore I have to go for a home win.

Bubble picks up a yellow card after 16 minutes for hacking down their left mid.

2 minutes later and Bubble whips in a cross for Azeryk, who’s first shot was parried by the keeper and his second shot was blocked by the defender.

Slovenia blast a shot over the bar from close range after 42 minutes.

HT: Kyrgyzstan 0 v 0 Slovenia

Half Time Stats

Freealdinho is subbed at halftime.

49 minutes gone and Slovenia take the lead. The ball is worked down the right before being finally crossed into the near post. Birkinaldo gets his head to the ball but only diverts it into his own net. 0-1.

Bubble is then subbed off.

2 minutes later and Azeryk latches onto a ball over the top, before pulling it back for a non-superkid to tap into an empty net. 1-1.

Prof Frink is subbed after 66 minutes and 7 minutes later Gary McNeil is subbed as well.

After 83 minutes Bubble + Azeryk are subbed, with Alan coming on for the last few minutes.

Elfdog does wonderfully well to tip a curling freekick over the bar in the last minute of normal time.

FT: Kyrgyzstan 1 v 1 Slovenia

Match Overview

Full Time Player Stats

Elfdog wins the MOM award, but with only a rating of 7 it sort of highlights the quality of the game.

Indonesia (106th) v (31st) Turkmenistan

Sat 7th Nov: Friendly

Pre Match

Turkmenistan start with 9 superkids on the pitch, with Luke Swinson as the captain and Humphrey Koppers as the key man. Rhys Davies picked up the flu very recently and misses the game.

My Opinion

Indonesia should be easy pickings for Turkmenistan, although the lack of a decent keeper could prove a problem.

Peter Slater sends a header just wide after 7 minutes.

Indonesia take a shock lead after 13 minutes after a cross to the back post is fired in. 1-0.

Turkus Mendieta picks up a yellow card after 25 minutes.

Continued pressure on the Indonesian goal finally brings some dividends, with Slater heading home a Swinson corner from the right for his 1st ever goal for Turkmenistan. 1-1.

Chaoconov puts Slater through on goal but his shot is weak and straight at the keeper.

41 minutes gone and Turkmenistan take the lead via a counter attack. Swinson plays the ball over the top, Slater runs onto it and knocks the ball past the oncoming keeper. 1-2.

HT: Indonesia 1 v 2 Turkmenistan

Half Time Stats

Gareth Davies is subbed at halftime.

56 minutes gone and Koppers knocks the ball down the left wing for Gonzalez to chase. He picks the ball up, cuts inside and then from a weird angle on the edge of the area curls the ball into the far post. 1-3.

Chaoconov is then subbed off.

After 68 minutes Libertinho, Mendieta + Slater are subbed.

A poor clearance from the Indonesian keeper after 83 minutes falls straight at the feet of Gonzalez, who runs in on goal and then calmly places the ball in the bottom corner. 1-4.

Gonzalez had the chance to complete his hattrick 4 minutes later but his shot goes straight at the keeper.

FT: Indonesia 1 v 4 Turkmenistan

Match Overview

Player Stats

MOM goes to Gonzalez, but Peter Slater should also get a mention for scoring his first goals for his nation.

Northern Mariana (NA) v (38th) Kyrgyzstan

Weds 11th Nov: Friendly

Pre Match

Kyrgyzstan field 9 superkids in their starting line. Alan is the captain and Azeryk is th key man. Freealdinho is on the bench.

My Opinion

A slightly bizarre friendly as Northern Mariana are not a full FIFA member. I can see Kyrgyzstan smashing a shed load past them. Fill your boots lads!

2 minutes gone and Azeryk latches onto a ball over the top and fires past the keeper. It could be a very productive day for Azeryk. 0-1.

A fine save by the N Mariana keeper to deny Alan what looked like a certain goal.

10 minutes in and Bubble passes to Frketic who then passes inside to Alan who slots the ball just inside the far post. 0-2.

2 minutes later and Robson feeds Azeryk, who only has the keeper to beat and Azeryk doesn’t miss those against this level of opposition. 0-3.

Frketic has a freekick well saved after 38 minutes, with the ball being turned behind for a corner. Frketic floats the corner in from the right and Alan steams in to head past the keeper. 0-4.

A minute later and a defensive error lets in Alan to complete his hattrick. 0-5.

After 42 minutes Azeryk is sent through down the left, but instead of shooting he passes across goal to Alan who knocks the ball into the net. Despite clearly standing in an offside position when tapping the ball home, the goal for some reason is not ruled out. So, Alan gets his fourth of the game with the last three coming in the last five minutes. 0-6.

HT: Northern Mariana 0 v 6 Kyrgyzstan

Half Time Stats

Alan smacks a shot way over the bar from the edge of the area. Kyrgyzstan seem to have quietened down at the start of the second half though.

McNeil plays a smart throughball for Azeryk who finishes for his hattrick from a tight angle. 0-7.

Alan is then subbed before the restart.

Frketic hits the post with a freekick after 68 minutes.

McNeil is subbed after 71 minutes.

Frketic dinks the ball cleverly over the defence straight into the feet of Azeryk who applies the finishing touches to the move. 0-8.

Prof Frink knocks the ball down the left for Azeryk, who crosses to the back post where Frketic is waiting to head home. 0-9, 78 minutes gone.

Frketic again sets up Azeryk to slot another one home. 0-10.

FT: Northern Mariana 0 v 10 Kyrgyzstan

Match Overview

Player Stats

5 Kyrgyzstan players end up with a rating of 10, but Azeryk pips the others to the MOM award with his 5 goals. He loves playing against lower level opposition, thats where he gets all his goals. Quite why Kyrgyzstan were playing these guys I can’t understand, hopefully their FA won't arrange any more pointless friendlies in the future.

Sun 29th Nov: Lazio (11th) v (20th) Reggina – League Match

Bennitto is in centre mid, with Bill also upfront.

After 4 minutes an uber hopeful long shot from Lazio goes in, much to the surprise of their centre mid who struck it. Apparently it’s a goal of the season effort, but I suppose pretty much any goal from 35 yards would be! 1-0.

Bennitto picks up a yellow card after 30 minutes for a trip.

After 35 minutes Michael Dawson brings down a Reggina striker in the box. Penalty to Reggina, but the spot kick is saved as Lazio’s keeper flings himself to his left.

Bill picks up a knock, but carries on.

Week ending Sunday 29th November 2009

Arsene Wenger has hailed Samaras Taraldo for his tremendous performance for Man Utd against Arsenal in the recent 1-1 draw. Taraldo has snubbed the praise.

Prof Frink is out for 2 weeks with a damaged heel.

Bill has damaged his heel as well and will also be out for 2 weeks.

Selim Atas has broken his ankle. The 2 months he will be out of action has led to him having a rethink on his plans for the future. He is now considering a new contract with Athletico Madrid, although interest from Valencia still remains.

Gareth Davies has dislocated his jaw (owwwww!) and will be out for 3-4 weeks.

Player Cam for December will focus on… Turkus Mendieta at Napoli.

Player Cam Match Report

Sun 5th Dec: Piacenza (19th) v (18th) Napoli – League Match

Turkus Mendieta starts at centre back for Napoli in a 3-4-3 formation.

Just 4 minutes gone when a cross field ball picks out a Piacenza striker who blasts the ball past the keeper and into the net. Turkus Mendieta perhaps should have been closer to his man. 1-0.

Napoli equaliser after 18 minutes, the Piacenza keeper makes a hash of coming and collecting a ball, leaving the Napoli striker an open goal to tap into. 1-1.

Both teams force good saves out of the keepers.

Mendieta makes a vital last ditch challenge on a Piacenza breakaway.

In the last minute of the first half, a tantalising ball from the left flank goes straight across the 6 yard box to the Napoli right mid at the far post who taps into the net. 1-2.

HT: Piacenza 1 v 2 Napoli

Half Time Stats

A quiet second half.

Piacenza have a goal disallowed after 74 minutes for offside.

FT: Piacenza 1 v 2 Napoli

Full Time Stats

A good game for Mendieta.

Player Cam Match Report

Weds 9th Dec: Napoli v Portsmouth – UEFA Cup Group Stage

Turkus Mendieta starts at centre back in a 3-4-3 system.

O’Connor goes close for Pompey, but his shot goes the wrong side of the post.

Mendieta picks up a yellow card for holding onto O’Connor.

Pompey continue to press, but it is Napoli who take the lead after 39 minutes. A cross to the back post is turned in by Calaio (used to be legendary in the older CM/FMs). 1-0.

Just as the game enters stoppage time, Calaio leaps above his marker to head home a cross from the left this time. 2-0.

HT: Napoli 2 v 0 Portsmouth

Mendieta makes a vital clearance after 64 minutes after the Napoli keeper parries the ball back out in front of him.

The rest of the game was a rather tepid affair.

FT: Napoli 2 v 0 Portsmouth

Turkus Mendieta receives an 8 for his good performances.

He won so so many headers in the game (17 out of 19).

(apologies for the lack of screenshots, Photobucket is playing up!)

My Thoughts

Well, I think Turkmenistan will be fairly delighted with that result, New Zealand should be a 3 point banker and beating Russia is definitely possible.

Kyrgyzstan have a tougher group, with Colombia not exactly poor opposition.

Both sides however will be delighted that they are not in Group C, which is my ‘group of death’. The easiest group must be Group B, which is another advantage for Turkmenistan, as if they qualify out of Group A then they will play someone from Group B.
