brettney1980
How good is your Assman Korvalis? You seem to be getting quite a good bunch of prospects through your academy. korvalis
He does have good Judging PA/PP abilities, but I'm not entirely sure how the rating system work, whether it's relative to the current squad ability or genuine potential.
Shakes
He does have good Judging PA/PP abilities, but I'm not entirely sure how the rating system work, whether it's relative to the current squad ability or genuine potential. It's relative to your current senior squad. As your squad gets better players star ratings go down and it gets harder to get 5 star prospects ... if you're playing as a really top screen there might be nobody in the world higher than 4 star potential. Shakes
Full Backs are in real short supply Seems to be a common problem, I don't think the game throws up enough fullbacks. I've only gotten three worthwhile ones through the system in 16 years ... the rest has been made up from players retrained from other positions. You might need to do some retraining to find a left back ... Roche YP8b is a lefty, if you put him on quickness training and retrained him for DL he'd probably be pretty good there. Shakes
A.D. Pontassolense - Liga ZON SAGRES - 2027/28 Season - 7th Table | Position History We had some excitement in the off-season, gaining unexpected entry to the Europa League by virtue of the Fair Play spot! We also had a board takeover, but with no new investment, it's pretty much same old. League wise we're certainly showing signs of improvement, we're starting to be able to score goals now which let us post our first positive goal difference in the top flight. However we didn't get the wins on the board when we needed them, too many draws really cost us dearly and despite our obvious improvement we could only move up one spot to 7th, missing out on European football. Really a very disappointing end to the season, we could only draw at home to the two relegated teams which ended up costing us badly, but not as badly as our last game against P. Ferreira. Knowing a win would mean we steal their spot and finish no lower than 5th we hit the lead in the 32nd minute only for them to score immediately from the kickoff as we had about 4 players escort their striker to the goal rather than tackling him. We came out in the second half more aggressive but got absolutely robbed by a rubbish penalty call in the 51st minute (I wasn't even fined for complaining about it in the presser afterwards). Although we struck back a couple of minutes later the penalty would be our undoing, desperately needing a goal at the end of the game I threw everyone forward and we blew a couple of good chances before being hit on the break to lose the game. Aaaaaaarg! Absolutely devastated really, we deserved to go back to Europe and missing out hurts. Taça de Portugal Millennium | Taça da Liga Great run in the cups this year. In the main cup we looked good until the semi final, when a terrible away leg to Braga left us 3 goals down, and meant we basically had no shot in the home leg as they just sat back on their lead. In the league cup we went all the way to the final, where Porto predictably annihilated us. Their striker is paid 6 times our wage budget, so I guess it's to be expected. Europa League The draw was fairly easy in the qualifying rounds so we made it to the group stage without too much trouble. In the group stage we drew Rubin, Galatasaray and Basel which I was pretty happy with. None of those clubs squads looked that tough and I thought we could compete with them. We did more than compete, we looked like the strongest team in the group, but somehow didn't manage to get the results to prove it and with only 2 wins and a draw our 7 points was 1 short of qualifying for the next round. The European competition was fun while it lasted though and the mid week matches were great for our squad, which now has enough depth to cope with two games a week. Going to be tough finding games for everyone next year without it. Youth Intake Our best in a while due to one very exciting prospect: Luis Fernandes (YP28a) (Report) - ST - This guy is going to just bang in the goals once he develops. A 5 star potential striker with 20 determination? I think I'm in love. José Alfaiate (YP28b) (Report) - GK - We don't need another keeper since our first choice is so good but this guy should be a nice cheap backup for him. Squad | Transfers Some good performances this year, in fact our youth policy is clearly working as we swept the Portuguese player of the year award! My personal standouts were: Adriano Serrano (YP24a) - At 19 he's already the best Portuguese keeper in the game and it's only a matter of time until he becomes our first full international for Portugal. Francisco Pinto Lopes (YP14a) - I had thought that perhaps our captain was on the decline and his spot would be taken but he really picked up his form, and passed 400 league games along the way. He's 30 now but there's no reason why he can't continue on to 500, which would be a fabulous achievement for a 30 game league! Pedro Miguel (YP22a) - When he first arrived I said he looked more like a track star than a footballer, but he's matured into a good midfielder. João Carvalho (YP21a) - Has always looked good on paper but showed it more on the pitch this year, really putting in a consistently good performance, and winning the fans' player of the year. Sérgio Ferreira (YP25a) - The young center back had been sitting in the youth team waiting his chance, but when others faltered he got promoted and I realised I should have done it sooner, as he's clearly already our best there and still has potential to grow. Meanwhile in the departures lounge are Nuno Gonçalves (YP23c) who played 34 unimpressive league games at right back, Julien Pedersen (YP23e) who played the last of his 6 games 3 years ago, and hopefully I'll find a taker for Jeffrey Pereira (YP23d) as with the glut of keepers we now have he's unlikely to ever make his league debut with us. Next Season The new 22125 seat stadium opens, so hopefully filling that will make us a profit and allow work on the facilities. Just wish we had European football to fill it with fans, we absolutely need to turn a few draws into wins and get into the top 5, because the income and reputation will really give us a boost. Beyond that with Portugal getting a 3rd champion's league place, and Sporting not dominant like Porto and Benfica, I don't think we're far away from the big stage now. This year ended disappointingly, but there's certainly light at the end of the tunnel. Maybe winning the CL before FM2013 is out of the question, but I'd at least like to make it there. Prongsie92
Royal Football Club de Liège is a Belgian football club from the city of Liège. The club is known today for being 'homeless' and for its role in the creation of the Bosman ruling in 1990 after refusing to release Jean-Marc Bosman from his contract. The 'philosophy' of the club is based on integration of local young players and on popular and faithful support. 2012-2013 Season Overview After a rough start which included dropping out of the Belgium Cup in the 4th Round, Liege got onto a magnificent run of wins that propelled the team from second bottom to first. Perhaps a defining season for the homeless side, the team undertook one of many board takeovers that occurred within the league although sadly no investment occurred. The team also turned professional as the season concluded, resulting in the majority of the team signing new contracts to reflect their full-time status. Liege Information Overview Belgium Leagues Season Review Belgium Third Division A Fixtures and results 1 Fixtures and results 2 Yearly Training Summary Liege Modern Team Records Liege Modern Player Records 2012/2013 Transfers Youth Players A much needed class. Several of the players entered the first team upon signing youth contracts whilst others will be serving their time with the club as potential back-up players until the club has an adequate number first team, U-21 and U-19 players. YP-1A - Jeremy Davids - DM - Youth profile - The star player of the 2012/2013 intake. Entered the first team immediately and made 8 starting appearances. Will be playing regularly in the 2013/2014 season rotating between DM and CM positions. I expect that he'll be a decent enough player in the Second Division. YP-1B - Dimitri Philippe - CM/ MR AMRC - Youth profile - A decent enough player who'll add some much needed quality to the center of the park. He'll be making his debut and getting several subs in during the next season. YP-1C - Tom Legendre - DL/ WBL ML - Youth Profile - Instantly took the club's back-up LB role, although only due to the fact that the club had one LB. Decent enough player but may be stuck in the back-up role for his career in Liege unless he impresses. YP-1D - Martin Valette - ST/ AMC - Youth Profile - One of many impressive strikers coming with the intake. Brought in to the first team to cover the AMC role, yet to make his debut. YP-1E - Dimitri Gautier - GK - Youth Profile - Good quality keeper. Will be contesting for the back-up role this season. Performed well enough in U-21 and U-19 fixtures. 2013/2014 Season Once again, despite a new board, their expectations are ridiculously high! I've voted for a top half finish but the side needs a lot of work. I had actually hoped to stay in Third Division A to build up a good side but apparently rotating tactics defeated many of the amateur/semi-professional sides! The side doesn't have much money so I've been rather tight with the new wages and I've transfer listed many of the poor quality players in the side. Sadly, they are all my CBs. korvalis
Pah, just been sacked again. Had a series of 8 games without a win just before Christmas and got the boot. Team was in 10th, with a prediction of 8th so it was a little harsh... So, it's time to be an Englishman in France... I've taken over Stade Olympique Romorantinais, newly promoted from the CFA-D division. Profile Information Facilities Squad - Looks relatively decent, though possibly weak in the centre of midfield. Shakes
A.D. Pontassolense - Liga ZON SAGRES - 2028/29 Season - 9th Table | Position History A disgraceful effort. Early on we had a terrible injury crisis which meant we struggled to field a striker, all our strikers had had 2 or more injuries by the new year. Still at the half way mark we'd managed to at least hold on for draws, turning with a 4-9-2 record. From there we got fit and looked like we even had a run at the third champion's league spot until for a second time this year Porto decided they'd show us they only needed 10 men to beat us. It crashed morale and the team just completely tanked, losing 5 games in 6. We still had a shot at European qualification until we lost the 2nd last game after leading 1-0 at the 87th minute ... to be honest I didn't even watch the last game (we lost) I was that disappointed in how we collapsed. Taça de Portugal Millennium | Taça da Liga We got to the 6th round of the cup before we managed to lose to a third tier team with them scoring from two set pieces. Sums up the disaster of the season really. In the league cup we drew a group with Porto, which allowed them to hand us their first lesson in beating us with 10 men. Youth Intake The only bright spot in the season. Had the board tell me they couldn't afford to upgrade youth recruitment so I can only imagine what it could have been: Marco Nogueira (YP29a) (Report) - ST - Two 5 star strikers in the last 2 years ... hopefully that's our strike partnership sorted, because nobody got it done this year. Vitor Sampaio (YP29b) (Report) - ML - Not sure what to make out of this guy, a wrong footed winger who isn't really a natural forward. 5 star potential so hopefully the potential outweighs the initial awkward stats. Romuald Monnier (YP29c) (Report) - AMC - A third offensive minded guy who I quite like the look of but does make me wonder how he fits in, given our offensive minded midfield is already stronger than the defensive guys. Squad | Transfers There's a lot of players with their contract coming to an end in the next couple of years and so next year will be a big year. Perform well and I may stick with the current older players, but anotgher year like this one and I'll be making big cuts and bringing through younger players ready or not I think. Next Season Well the stadium still doesn't make a profit on league football, we really need to get to Europe. Next year is critical, this team is quite mature so should be performing. We're on a deadline damn it, FM 13 has been announced, show me something to make me keep faith boys! ri916
Shakes- You've done brilliantly to get to this point mate! Just keep at it, I can see the breakthrough season coming. Jambo98
I think this has been a great challenge and thread - For 2013 i wonder if more leagues could be included? Was there any criteria that caused the current list of available ones? Have put my own challenge on hold just for a couple of days, although finished my first season in top flight and have the right up to do (spoiler, we have another season in the top flight......). For now tho, took delivery of a new beast laptop on friday so going to try out a save with lots of leagues and huge player DB to test this baby out to its limits Will return to this next week and push on another season or 3 i think
korvalis
Combining the threads is probably a sensible idea. As for my luck in France... Season 1 - 2012/13 Board Expectations - Avoid Relegation Media Expectations - 16th (of 20) Season Update Summary We've performed well above expectations finishing 6th overall, we had an outside chance of promotion but a string of defeats at the end of the season saw us slip a little down the table. Though promotion might of been good for finances, the team is still semi-professional so I'd be taking part-timers up. Even with the team performing well, attendances and therefore gate receipts were never that great, with the average attendance at the end of the season just shy of 800. League Table - Previous Positions Stats Transfers - Just a few older players out, the 2 coming in were before I took over. Youth Intake An almost woeful selection, with just the 1 obvious standout player. Sebastien Picard (YP01) (Report) DR - A pacey right-back, could be useful going forward. Shakes
I agree with combining the threads. Some of the smaller Euro countries might be interesting too: probably easier to get to the stage where you're winning the league, but European success might be a long time coming. stephen_atk
Season 6: 2017-2018 Main Squad After punching above our weight last season, expectancy had grown, the chairman decided he wanted a mid-table finish, which put extra pressure on us to avoid second season syndrome. It was a season of triumphant peaks and despairing troughs, which saw us become the entertainers of the division, scoring 86 and conceding 61. We started well winning 5 of the opening 7 games. We followed that up with a winless run of 7 games which started to cause some concern. Following a 2nd defeat of the season to PSG, in the cup this time, we settled back into the league and ended our winless run with a 4-3 triumph over Bordeaux which lead to a run of 6 wins in 7 games to move us into 7th going into the winter break, this included a 2-1 away win at Lyon, our first win against one of the big three of Ligue 1. The return from the winter break saw a return to our inconsistent form with 4 defeats on the spin. The season ended on a definite high, a 15 game run with just 1 defeat. This included away wins against Bordeaux 4-1, Caen 4-2 who surprised everyone finishing 4th and Valenciennes 6-4. Eventually we finished an impressive 5th in the league and qualify for the Europa League qualifying rounds. Final Table Player Stats Player of the Year Transfers - guess I should explain this! I went on holiday during the winter break and found we'd signed this guy on loan from a feeder club. I immediately terminated the loan without him playing a game. Youth Good year for the youth team they finished 3rd in their league behind Lyon and Marseille, so the future is looking bright. Intake was again good, indeed my Ass Man rates one of them as the best player of his generation! Shakes
A.D. Pontassolense - Liga ZON SAGRES - 2029/30 Season - 7th Table | Position History The one that got away for sure. It was a close fought season and you could throw a blanket over the top 7 most of the way, although Porto and later Vitória de Guimarães broke away, 3-7 were always very much up in the air. 3 mean champion's league and 4 or 5 Europa league, so there was always going to be two desperately unlucky teams. Unfortunately in the end we were one of those. Really gutting to lose the last three games 1-0 to sink us, if we'd won instead of lost on the last day even we would have taken 5th. Winning an away game against the 2nd in the league was probably too much to ask - our captain was missing his first league game in over 5 years too ... tore a calf early in the 2nd last game and it'll probably keep him out for the start of next year ... when things go to hell the go to hell don't they? It was our early season away form that probably doomed us, losing 6 of our first 8 away. At home we were great, not losing a game until our final home encounter, but away we stunk, and if we could have just put up a bit more of a fight there we would be in Europe. Or if it'd been a different year maybe our points would be enough ... but thems the breaks, we didn't do enough and paid the price. There's always next year, eh? Taça de Portugal Millennium | Taça da Liga Away form also killed us in the cups ... the least the league cup was winnable this year too, would have been nice to at least add some kind of trophy to the cabinet. Youth Intake No 5 star standouts this year but a couple of decent prospects: Carlos Encarnação (YP30a) (Report) - DC - Another central defender but I'm OK for those, and he already has ok stats for a full back, so he'll be retrained to be a left back. Jorge Fernandes (YP30b) (Report) - DL - An actual fullback prospect, but probably not as suited for it as the center back! As a right footer, he'll be moved over to right back instead. Squad | Transfers As tempting as it is to say that we were close and just need to stick with it, we have some good prospects in the youth team and someone needs to make way, so it's probably going to result in some long time players going out the door over the next couple of years. Full back Rui Martins (YP16e) has scraped his way past the 200 game mark but is very much short of the standard at top tier and is leaving for sure. In the midfield vice captain Gilson Manuel Cruz (YP18b) and Marco Silva (YP18a) are both expiring while Rui Alves (YP19a) has a year to go but wants to leave due to lack of recent chances. All three are also 200+ game players but I probably have to pick one to keep since with only the 30 domestic league games it's impossible to keep them all happy. I can probably keep Cruz but there's no room for the other two. Also former first choice keeper Bruno Sousa (YP15c) has only played 2 games the last 4 years ... with the young keepers I have keeping him on as a backup seems superfluous. Next Season It's tough: I've got the young talent I want to start bringing in, but it's probably going to require some formation changes to make work. Bit hard to play a pack the central midfield strategy when all your youth players are forwards or defenders! Shakes
A.D. Pontassolense - Liga ZON SAGRES - 2030/31 Season - 7th Table | Position History Playing a new system and trying to bring some of the kids in, so I expected to take a small step back. The draw wasn't really kind, splitting us into sections against the tough teams and a run of easy games. The first half we gritted out the tough part and when we wont 5 in a row against weaker competition I was hopeful this could be a break through season and we wouldn't be taking any steps back at all. However we really struggled against the harder teams, a couple of unlucky results that sunk morale and put us in that death spiral of poor results. Come the easier part of the schedule we'd almost lost touch and really would need to be perfect to get anywhere, and unfortunately we were far from it. However Sporting were even worse which meant we still had a shot at 6th, and with the cup final to be played between two teams already qualified for Europe, 6th spot carried a Europa league place. Second last game, home to P. Ferreira, win it and we'd wrap up 6th ... 2-1 loss. Gutting on two levels, not only did it leave Sporting in with a chance at our spot but now P. Ferreira could pass us too! I said some ill advised things at the post game and got a touch game ban, we were away against Porto who have won the league 10 straight years and we've never beaten, and we'd need a win to ensure European football. LOL, never going to happen, and it didn't: a 1-1 draw was a good result, but P. Ferreira kept up their end of the bargain with a win to overtake us and leave us as Pontaseventh yet again. Taça de Portugal Millennium | Taça da Liga Pretty poor run in the cups this year ... losing to a 3rd tier team again in the main one, ugh. Youth Intake No super stars but a deep intake: José Araújo (YP31a) (Report) - MC - We need to bolster the midfield, although a defensive minded guy would have been better, but beggars can't be choosers. Arnaldo Cunha (YP31b) (Report) - MR - Man we're getting a lot of wing depth lately ... I've already been forced to move into a formation that has them, you can stop giving me the hint game! Edgar Serôdio (YP31c) (Report) - ML/DL - Certainly a left back not a left wing for me ... we need someone there, the first choice is 32 now. Maxime Schwartz (YP31d) (Report) - AMR - Another mediocre winger ... has some ability at MC, will also retrain there to be depth for a couple of positions. Squad | Transfers Spread the games around a little more this year as we undergo some generational changes. For the first time in over a decade and a half our captain Francisco Pinto Lopes (YP14a) isn't an automatic choice: he's only 7 games short of the 500 though and should reach there next year. Not sure how much shelf life he has as a backup though, at 33 now his legs must surely start to go soon. The changes really are big this year with nearly 1100 league games worth of experience leaving. Bruno Sousa (YP15c), Joel Mendes (YP17b) and Rui Alves (YP19a) were all fine servants, but the big departure will be Hélder Silva (YP15a). Club legend, 5 times fans' player of the year, youngest ever goal scorer, club record holder for league goals in a year and in a career ... I just hope the fans don't lynch me for not allowing him to sit in the reserves until he decides to put himself out to pasture! In happier news Sérgio Ferreira (YP25a) became our first full international for Portugal! Was a shock, I thought our keeper would get there first, they were both called up this time but only Ferreira got the nod. Next Season I'm not sure how many seasons I have left in me banging my head against the wall ... I really want to break out of this mid table mediocrity and get to Europe. If I don't get there next year I'll seriously consider pulling up stumps, that will have been 20 years at Pontossolense, I'm a club legend now and will have seen Francisco Pinto Lopes (YP14a) hit the 500 ... if I'm not challenging in Europe then there's not much else I can achieve, might be time to move on in preparation for FM13. stephen_atk
Season 7: 2018-2019 Main Squad Ligue 1 Despite previous seasons being reasonably successful, the lead up to this season was the first time I felt comfortable playing at this level, but I had a decision to make. Last seasons 5th place finish meant we'd qualified for the Euro League, without really having much strength in depth, should sacrifice the league for a european adventure? I decided to go for it, after all the players deserved a decent shot at it. The league started badly the first league game was away at champions PSG, despite taking an early lead our European exploits on the Thursday caught up with us and we went down with a whimper 5-2. We conceded 5 again in our next away trip. Further defeats to Montpellier and Lyon meant we were just above the drop zone. Things started to pick during our traditionally strong period in the lead up to the winter break, by the time it arrived we'd moved into the top half and I was happier with the decision to concentrate on Europe. Strong form after the break all but confirmed Ligue 1 status for next season so the cups became priority... Final Table Player Stats Transfers The Cups Our season started with our first European fixture, a home tie to Swedish side Orebro. I was confident we would see our way past them and the boys turned on the style coasting to a 7-0 victory, we lost the return leg 2-0 but were looking forward to the next tie against Dundee United for a place in the groups. Again we were too good for the opposition 5-0 home and away wins gave us a 10-0 aggregate win. The eagerly awaited draw gave us a tough group of Ajax, Besiktas and Dinamo Zagreb. The boys were well up for it though, we beat Ajax at home, although we lost at Besiktas, 2 wins over Dinamo gave us a good chance of qualifying. A 3-1 defeat against Ajax made for an interesting last round of games. If Ajax beat whipping boys Dinamo and we failed to beat already qualified Besiktas it would be curtains for us. Ajax did what they needed to, but so did we running out 4-2 victors in turn topping the group. Group Stage The draw for the next round gave us Italian side Catania, get through that and it would be Borussia Dortmund. There was a bit of trash talk in the lead up to the trip to Catania and it found it's way onto the pitch, we went 2-0 up in 6 minutes but it was 2-2 after 11, they then lost it and had 2 men sent off before half time, we scored 3 goals in the 2nd to run out easy 5-2 winners, a draw in the return leg set up the Dortmund tie. The home leg started badly and we were 2-0 at half time, we pulled it back to 2-1 but we'd left ourselves a tough ask to get any further. We almost did it though in fact we were minutes away. We quickly fell 2-0 down in Dortmund but threw caution to the wind to get back to 2-2 and then 3-3. With 10 minutes left we went 4-3 where our away goals would have seen us through. However it wasn't over and in injury time Lewandowski struck. We were out! Euro Run We'd also been doing well in the domestic French Cup. The big teams had been knocking each other out and a helpful draw had seen us make the semi finals with relative ease. Out of Europe and safe in the league, this was now our main focus. The semi draw had given us Rennes (who usually beat us) away. This was a crazy game, we went 2-0 up but as with the Catania game were pegged back to 2-2. We weren't going to let this go though, we stepped it up and went in at half time 4-2 up. They tried hard to get back they pressurised we hit on the break, the 2nd half was goals galore and we made the final 7-4. The final saw us meet Lille another side who regularly beat us. Not as exciting as the semi, but I wasn't bothered a bit a professional job saw run out 2-1 winners. My first bit of silverware in the bag! French Cup run Goodbyes 3 of my original squad are leaving at the end of the season. Jeremy Gavanon my main keeper and David Ledy wanted ridiculous deals to stay but having dropped out of the 1st I wasn't prepared to do the deal. Delis Ahou is also going but at 34 he's hanging up his boots. Youth Squad The facilities and scouting network had all been improved so I was looking forward to this years intake, and it was another good one... korvalis
Season 3 - 2014/15 Board Expectations - Avoid Relegation Media Expectations - 19th (of 20) Season Update Summary A close run thing to avoid relegation, but even a loss on the last day of the season wasn't enough to send the team back down. League Table - Previous Positions Stats Transfers - Just a few unused players out. Facilities - Further upgrades to both the coaching and recruitment of youths for this season, so starting next season I'm probably going to start upgrading the facilities especially with the decent L2 money coming in. Training facilities - Adequate Youth facilities - Minimal Junior Coaching - Average (up from adequate) Youth recruitment - Fairly basic (up from basic) Youth Intake Okay, I think I know where last seasons selection went, my only disappointment is that there was no decent youth keeper to sign up. Joel Olivier (YP03a) (Report) - DL, defensive work horse of the future. Benoit Dupuy (YP03b) (Report) - DM, potential midfield playmaker Bruno Lagoa (YP03c) (Report) - DC, decent strong centreback Julle Mununga (YP03d) (Report) - AM, somewhat pacey attacking midfielder Robin Moreau (YP03e) (Report) - DC, yet another decent centreback Loic Dupont (YP03f) (Report) - MC, looks to be a decent midfield captain of the future. Alex Okoro (YP03g) (Report) - DC, the 3rd of a good selection of centre backs. Previous Selections Sebastien Picard (YP01) DR - Spent all the season in the under 19s, will be there for another year or so assuming no injuries. Still probably not quite good enough to start in the main squad, but is still only 16 so there's no real rush for him to start just yet. So with those selections in mind, I think I'm pretty sorted defense wise in a couple of years time.
Shakes
Nice intakes for you both, and jealous you can make money to upgrade stuff, there's no money in Portugal outside the really top teams, still losing ~200k a month here. Think my run at the club has cost chairmen about 20 million to keep the club going so far.
korvalis
Yeah much easier to make money in France I think. I lost money whilst I was in the National, but once I was promoted to League 2 I'm pulling in around 100k a month so upgrading the facilities is relatively easy. Should be even more once I get both the new stadium (end of this season), and start moving up the table. Just to tease you too, funding has been upgraded, and the youth facilities will be upgraded at Christmas
Shakes
Careful what you wish for with the stadium: I think I'm losing more money than before they built it, the loan + increased ground maintenance/match day costs have outpaced the increased attendance. Shakes
A.D. Pontassolense - Liga ZON SAGRES - 2031/32 Season - 8th Table | Position History The draw wasn't kind to us making us play last year's teams 2-5 first up. We played pretty well but could only start with 4 points from those games, which was a worry because our starts were usually our strengths. We did manage to go on a decent run against the weaker sides, although it was worrying that we were only scratching a lot of 1-0 results. However a mid-season collapse where the goals completely dried up meant a 10 match winless run destroyed all hope for our season, and we were looking at finishing in the lower reaches of the table. The end of year recovery was pretty good and we lifted ourselves up to a respectable 8th in the end, but that really flattered us. We were really unable to score for much of the year, and although we generally kept it very tight at the back thanks largely to our brilliant keeper, we leaked badly from set pieces (over half our goals conceded came that way) hampering our ability to grind out results. Taça de Portugal Millennium | Taça da Liga A good run in the cup, beating top tier opposition in extra time in the 5th and 6th round to make it to the semis. With the top two teams playing in the other semi this meant our semi was a Europa League playoff for us. Home leg first, and what should have been a 3-0 win turned into a 3-2 win only due to a dodgy missed offside and a missed foul. The away goals were worrying, but any lead is better than none. The return leg started well, we had the run of play in the first half and slotted a goal, giving us a two goal buffer. At half time I was like: Of course immediately after half time we concede an own goal, and then we can't hold onto our now one goal lead, leaking yet another goal from a corner, to put us out on away goals. We weren't goin' sizzler after all. League cup we rested players and paid the price, only managing 4 points in what was probably the easiest group we've ever gotten. Youth Intake Nobody deserving of a tag at this point. Disappointing as I had finally got the board to upgrade recruitment for the first time in a decade I think. Squad | Transfers The big achievement at the club was Francisco Pinto Lopes (YP14a) going past the 500 league game mark: he's been a legend but is really on his last legs now, his physical attributes are in free fall and probably wont see much time from here on out if other players stay fit. The other club news is that Adriano Serrano (YP24a) finally got his first cap for Portugal, well past time. He's by far and away our most important player, but I'm not sure we'll be able to keep him: he understandably wants bigger money than we can offer. 2 years left on his contract though, so hopefully things can change. Again looking to shake up the squad, vice captain Gilson Manuel Cruz (YP18b) headlining the players leaving, with long serving left back Samuel Marques (YP15b) also moving along: although he was largely first choice this year extrapolating his decay says his physicals will be completely shot next year, and the kids in the youth team are ready to take over. Striker Gonçalo Ribeiro (YP22b) wants stupid money for his current place in the pecking order so he can take his inconsistent self elsewhere (league goals by year: 15, 8, 13, 3, 1, 10, 9, 3), and although Leão Sousa (YP21b) won fans' player of the year three years ago he's been largely injured or crap the last two years then so he can go too. So over the past 2 years we've sent over 2000 games, 10 fans' player of the year awards and our 1st and 3rd leading goal scorers packing. Feels like a new side. Next Season I had said I'd consider quitting if we failed to make Europe but after the poor year I feel like I don't want to go out like that. As I said above, this is like a new side again, we've gone from a first team largely in their mid to late 20s to a first team largely in their teens and early 20s. The under 19s have won their league 3 years in a row, the reserves also won this year ... we clearly have some players waiting! With most of the older players who were blocking them gone or relegated to backup roles, and a switch to 4-4-f'ing-2 to fit as many of them into the team as I can, lets really give youth a chance once again. Drew the Cookie Eater
WKE. Season Six. Eredivisie. 2017/2018 Table - We stayed up, and in truth it was quite easy, get bummed by the big clubs, take the odd win or draw against the mid-table clubs, and then demolish the teams at the bottom of the table. Squad - Decent all round effort from the squad, no-one had a special season. YP1a didn't play that much, I guess I'll have to change my formation around to try and accomodate him. YP1c only played a handful of games, not good enough and will be released. YP2a done well, and should only improve with more game time next season. YP2b done okay, isn't good enough but is used until our youngsters are good enough to step up. YP2c done well, got into double figures for the season. YP3a didn't score as much as I had hoped, there is always next season I guess. YP3b now becoming one of our star players, I hope that I will be able to keep him at the club for a long time. YP4a definitely our best player, what a season from the young man. YP4b done well at such a young age, will improve in the years to come. YP4c had a good season, should do well with more experience. I don't cheat Finances Money money money! New Youth Intake New kids on the block YP6a looks okay, another DM is always handy. YP6b another DM. Shakes
Looks like this is my lucky off-season ... a club takeover with no plans for new investment but by the looks of things they paid off our stadium loan, leaving us with a much smaller loan only covering the negative bank balance we had at the takeover point. We've gone from owing about 170k a month in loans to 26k. Also the fact that put us at a positive balance let me bully the board into a youth facilities upgrade by reminding them all I've done. Finally a facilities upgrade after 20 years! Then I get the message that Portugal has gained a Fair Play place and we've been awarded it again. With European football coming and the loan gone we might actually make a profit!
korvalis
Season 4 - 2015/16 Board Expectations - Avoid Relegation Media Expectations - 17th (of 20) Season Update Summary Another close run thing to avoid relegation, but a draw on the last day was enough to keep the team up. League Table - Previous Positions Stats Transfers - Nobody in or out. Facilities - Further upgrades to both the coaching and youth facilities for this season, so saving up for further upgrades will be the plan for coming season Training facilities - Adequate Youth facilities - Basic (Up from Minimal) Junior Coaching - Good (up from average) Youth recruitment - Fairly basic Youth Intake Just a couple of 5 star players available, including a much needed keeper. Though still a good selection overall. Mickael Lambert (YP04a) (Report) STR David Martin (YP04b) (Report) GK Previous Selections Sebastien Picard (YP01) DR - Has started making the odd first team appearance, mostly used a sub throughout the season. As for last years selection, they've all been in the U19s all season long, so no really much to report.
Shakes
A.D. Pontassolense - Liga ZON SAGRES - 2032/33 Season - 3rd Table | Position History Finally a break through season! Didn't look like it early, having to play from the first qualifying round of the Europa League had us looking like a hospital ward, and it dragged down our league form. With only 2 wins from our first 9 games we sat in 13th and it looked like a tough road ahead. But when we got healthy we looked like a completely different team, we rattled off 7 wins in a row and although we weren't smashing sides we showed it's not how many goals that counts it's when you score them, 1-0 results were just fine by us. Towards the end of the season things got tight, injuries and fixtures again piled up making it very hard for us but we did enough, going into the last game knowing a win meant Champion's League. We were horribly wasteful but still looked like we'd won 1-0 until a stoppage time equalizer nearly crushed our dreams ... it was a tense wait until the result screen came up showing our rivals Braga had only managed a 2-2 draw which meant Champion's League for us! A very successful season, heck we even managed our first ever win against Porto (away no less)! Taça de Portugal Millennium | Taça da Liga In the cup we struggled to get past our first game but then hit a good run, making the semiis where we took our home leg against Porto 2-1. We looked as if we might hold out for the away leg, we kept it scoreless the first half but went down to 10 men early in the second half and from there the floodgates opened. In the league cup we also drew Porto in our group which was always going to be tough, they seemed to want to set the record straight since at that stage we'd beaten them twice on the trot, and comfortably dealt with us. Europa League We got a fair play spot and we certainly made the most of it! Qualifying Rounds - No real problems until we ran into Slovan Bratislava ... we went behind in the away leg but a good home performance saw us through. Group Stage - Absolutely crushed them, 5 wins from 5 saw us win the group, it was only resting players for the dead rubber that prevented a perfect record. First Knockout Round - A 4-0 away result against Standard was magnificent and let us rest players for the home leg. Second Knockout Round - Schalke were lucky to get two penalties which turned what should have been our home vistory into a 3-3 tie. When we went down 1-0 in the away leg we should have been gone but two goals from José Miguel (YP23a) dragged us into the next round. Quarter Finals - When Leverkusen convetred two penalties to go 3-0 up at home that should have been it, but we dragged two goals back to give us hope. In the home leg we absolutely dominated 4-0 and easily qualified. Semi Finals - It had been a fariy tale run until now, but Arsenal looked way too strong ... a brilliant 2-0 performance at home gave us a lot of hope that we might beat the odds. Unfortunately a first minute goal made our dreams of holding them for 90 minutes look remote, and sure enough they ran 5 goals past us on the away leg to stop us reaching an unlikely final. All in all it was a great run, to even be in position where we could think of winning our way into the final was more than I could possibly have hoped for. Youth Intake Terrible intake, nobody close to good enough for a tag. We're going to have to rely on what we already have. Squad | Transfers With terrible intakes two years in a row our squad is very settled, we've had to hang on to our veterans this year after seeing so many leave the last few years. First team: Adriano Serrano (YP24a) - GK - The key to our ability to play a defensive game and grind out results. Carlos Encarnação (YP30a) - DL - Young converted center back who stepped up and took the left back position in his first season in the senior team. Sérgio Ferreira (YP25a) - DC - Easily our best center back. Mário Sousa (YP27a) - DC - Probably the second choice center back. Rui Reis (YP25b) - DR - Started as a central midfielder but has become a key figure for us at right back, and even right wing when injuries hit. Vitor Sampaio (YP29b) - ML - Wrong footed winger who really smashed the European competition ... needs to produce that form in the league next year. José Araújo (YP31a) - MC - Injuries gave him his chance and there was no reason to send him back to the youth team. João Carvalho (YP21a) - MC - Hard to believe he's now a veteran of 300 league games, still seems like the young gun to me. Romuald Monnier (YP29c) - MR - Has adapted well to playing out on the right, also fills in in his natural AMC role when playing a 4-4-1-1. Luis Fernandes (YP28a) - ST - Far more valuable than his stats suggest, our only true support striker and without him we have to resort to 4-4-1-1. Marco Nogueira (YP29a) - ST - Change of system set him free, didn't look much on the wing but as a poacher he's deadly, his two major injuries really hurt us. Next Season Finances finally improving with this successful season, youth facilities already upgraded, training facilities on the way. Really if we can show some fighting spirit again in Europe and hold our league position I'd be happy. We don't have a lot waiting in reserve with our terrible last couple of intakes so the health of the squad is going to be the critical issue here. brettney1980
Full name Royal Football Club de Liège Nickname(s) Les Sang et Marine (The Blood and Marine) Founded 1892 Ground Stade du Pairay, Seraing (Capacity: 6,744) Chairman Jean-Paul Lacomble Season 2023/24 - Season 12 - Belgian Pro League Another tedius season really, we are doing well for a team not signing players but mid table obscurity isn't very exciting to think about, talk about or even play at times. Things got a little more interesting (in a bad way) after the winter break when we went 12 games without a win ... Ouch! But we pulled things back and just edged into 9th on one of our lowest points tallies since promotion. Into the Euro's places matches and we topped out Group for the first time ever!!! So swings and round-abouts (makes for a better write up at least) first up in the Knock Out stage was Charleroi and we scraped through to the final .. Again i'm not too sure how ... In the final came the 6th place team from the Championship Group and this was never going to be easy, but we lost a close 1-0 in the end to Genk. So no Europe for another year, close though. Final Table - Euros Group In the Belgium cup we made the Q-Finals - Well done us! The 5-0 loss is what happens whenever we face Standard to be honest. Drew the Cookie Eater
I think this will be it for me regarding FM12, early access arrives on Friday, and I would like to try and get some sort of career going before then. A FM13 version of this will have to be made, enjoyed it very much.
Braumiller
After having great fun with the English version of this challenge in FM12, I think I am going to go continental in FM13 and try this version! ri916, are the leagues for the FM13 version of this challenge going to be the same do you know? Planning time

Planning time I'm going to merge these two threads so for the next version you'll be able to manage in England or the other European countries. I was thinking of possibly deciding the leagues by using the top 8 based on the starting rep of their top division. So that would mean that England, Spain, Germany, Italy, France and most likely Portugal will be available along with two others.
Shevchenko
Hmm, I always wanted to know why can't we add more leagues into the game. This could help us sell players abroad.

Excellent. May I put in a request to keep Belgium? I like the change of pace of the smaller league sizes, which they have. Plus I have some very fond memories of a trip there from my youth
ri916
Why not just make all leagues available? Personally I think it creates a better spirit if people are in the same countries some of the time. Also, it's far easier to complete this in a top nation than a smaller nation and I want the sense of achievement from completing to feel the same for everyone. Excellent. May I put in a request to keep Belgium?I like the change of pace of the smaller league sizes, which they have. Plus I have some very fond memories of a trip there from my youth I think there's a good chance I'll include Belgium.
