Scarman Posted June 23, 2012 Author Share Posted June 23, 2012 Al-Urooba Pre-Season 2012/13 Starting the Pre-Season At the beginning, I was blessed to again get some money from my chairman - That kick-started my pre-season, and from there I started signing players. Transfers Alberto Ramirez (95K) - My first signing was the Mexican Ramirez. A very solid midfielder, and has the ability to play in multiple roles. Bae Chun-Suk (20K) - A young Korean striker, very good signing for 20K, hoping he makes a big impression. Emmanuel Mathias (Free) - Next up is a Togolese right back, with the ability to cover as a central defender if necessary. Salah Adbul-Hameed (150K) - An experienced defender from Bahrain is my next signing, looks pretty solid. Hasan Houri (250K) - Houri is a keeper from Iran who will slot straight into the first team role, making Jeremic the number 2. Igor Lozo (26K) - Lozo isn't the best player, but was mainly brought in as cover. Ali Shafiei (1.2mil) - I saw a news article saying I was chasing this kid, and straight away I realised I should be. 1.2mil is probably a bit too much for him, but he is young and has a bit of potential too. Pre-Season Friendlies Ajman 1 - 3 Al-Urooba (Jurandir da Silva, Paul Quasten, Bae Chun-Suk) Al-Urooba 5 - 0 Al-Wasl (Mauricio (2), Mladan Jovancic, Bae Chun-Suk, Mariano Donda (og) Not many friendlies this season, but we beat Ajman who were relegated last season, and thrashed Al-Wasl who are currently in the Pro-League. Good signs! Season Ahead Etisalat Pro-League | Emirates Cup A new league, and a new cup! The Emirates Cup is played between the teams in the top league. It starts off with 2 groups of 6, and each team plays each other twice, making 10 group games. The top two qualify for the semis. We also don't go into the President's Cup until the 2nd Round. However, our odds don't bode well for the season! Anyone fancy a bet? The First Games Al-Shabab finished 2nd, Emirates 7th and Baniyas 6th last season, making the opening month a very clear indicator of how we'll do. If we can match it with Al-Shabab, I'll know that I should avoid relegation. At the same time, matching it with Emirates and Baniyas will be great as it will mean we can finish mid table. He was, but I had the money And after the tight spending before hand, I felt I could splash the cash on a youngster. Bit of worrying news, my chairman wants to sell up shop. The first two games we dominated, but just couldn't find the winner in. In the third game against Baniyas we went behind 3-1 at half time, before we showed a lot of characters to fight back for another draw. So decent start, but I'm hoping to start winning a few games. I got the two wins I was hoping for, though one of them was against Al-Jazira, a team I thought was going to thrash me. The loss to Baniyas was disappointing, as I felt we were the better team, and the draw to Al-Shabab should have ended in a win for us. I was happy with the Al-Ain results, as they are the best team in the league and I felt we matched them in terms of quality. Player of the Month - Bae Chun-Suk Scored 3 goals this month, including a double in our great win over Al-Jazira. Settling in nicely at the club. Looking Ahead We play Al-Dhafra again, and Al-Shabab for the third time in three months! Other than that, it looks like a month I can take a few wins from. Hoping for 4 wins, including progression to the 3rd Round of the President's Cup. Also got another 3.2mil donation made by the chairman to the club, love having all this money! Yeah, starting in the UAE is definitely different to all the other careers on here, it's a relatively small league that will probably become one of the strongest in Asia in the next 10 or so years because of all the money haha Al Urooba November 2012 Monthly Results League Standings Emirates Cup Standings Not the best month, with only 1 win. We weren't really outclassed in our losses, but we just couldn't score. Player of the Month - Issa Mohammed No real stand out players this month, but Mohammed scored both goals in our only win of the month. Looking Ahead Hoping to get at least 2 wins this month and a few draws. I think I'll need about 7 or 8 wins in total to survive the drop this season, so that's what I'll aim for. You should be able to take Baniyas in the return leg at home Baniyas have surprised me, they seem to be the team I can't beat! I've been annoyed at my inability to put teams away, though I guess that will come with a better team! Still have time to turn it around. I'm pretty happy with mid table, so I'm just hoping to hold onto that Al-Ain and Al-Shabab are definitely heads above the rest of the league. We're starting to slip down the league table as well, but hopefully the win over Al-Dhafra was the star of a mini revival for the club, and we can go into next month stronger than before. Player of the Month - Mauricio Scored 4 goals and got an assists too. A pretty bad month by the club, by he played decently. Looking Ahead The most important game is the one against Al-Sharjah. They are in the relegation zone, so a loss will see us creep towards them. A win will see us pull away. That's what we need at the moment - breathing space. Transfers Ali Lofti (Signed from Moghavemat Fars for 750k) - Rated with a lot of potential, signed from this Iranian youngster gold mine. Being tutored by one of our old heads with high determination. Rahim Majidi (Signed from Moghavemat Fars for 750k) - Looks like a potential star of the future for Iran. I really think Iran in about 5-8 years will dominate Asia. Also been looking to sign Peyman Taghavi from the same club. A lot of talented youth from Iran around, a few are being snapped up by Al-Ain and other clubs, but a lot are free game for us. Iran golden generation maybe? I managed to get a draw in the final Emirates Cup game, in which the result didn't matter for either me or Al-Ain, along with another draw against Al-Wahda, along with almost snatching points from Al-Jazira and Al-Shabab. Player of the Month - Reginald Faria Played pretty well this month. He's a pretty good backup, so I'm going to look to sign him for another season. Looking Ahead Only 2 games this coming month, though I'll be looking to win the match against Al-Dhafra to get away from the relegation zone some more. Also, a lot of the players I signed last season are retiring this season (5 of them, to be exact). In one of them, however, I think I've found my permanent Assistant! Definitely, we need to win that game to secure top flight for another season. I asked the board for another contract, they offered me a two year. The only way I wouldn't leave the club after two years is if we qualified for the Champions League in the last season, I would want to manage them during that campaign. Safe and ready for next year.
