SRL88's Career - January 2030 - Galatasaray SK

Super Lig

TurkishPremierDivisionOverview_Stages-4.png

A bit of a mixed month, but a one which see's us remain unbeaten and sitting nicely at the top of the league. We started with a brilliant win at the start of the new year, but then struggled at home to Trabzonspor and had to rely on a late goal to give us a point. I made numerous changes for an away trip to Tokatspor and it showed in our performance. We were lacklusture and were lucky to come away with a draw. We got things back on track with a fine win at home.

Turkish Cup 4th Round

GalatasaraySKFixtures_Fixtures-2-5.png

Shocking!!! Utterly shocking. Its hard to think that we took the lead in this game. A dreadful performance resulted in a shocking defeat.

Transfers - In

Melo - £450k - A young striker with a bright future. Should be a good signing.

Yucel Demiray - £50k - Brought in for cheap and sent straight out on loan.

Transfers - Out

A few departures, mainly on loan.

Nice to see that the unbeaten season still seems to be on, bit of a shame you couldn't stay unbeaten in the cup though!

Im confident that we can remain unbeaten until the title play-off which is roughly 10 more games away.

Excellent season in the league as for the cup, there is always next season!

Meh. There are more important things to contend for :p.

Haha, 2nd Melo in history to play for Galatasaray :D. KUTGW, great to see my team on top!

Haha cheers. I aim to do you proud.

Still have a 4 pint lead in the league atleast, just don't lose 5-1 again :D

Yeah its a comfortable lead at the minute. We're lucky that we have played all the top teams both home and away.

Just about to say that you are too good for Turkey, then I saw the cup :p Just a small blip in a great season.

I have found it slightly easy so far. The money which is available is quite surprising and its no wonder that Galatasaray have walked so many season's in the Turkish league.

Should be a breeze for the rest of the season.

Should do....but anything can happen in football.

Still no belgian team? :(

Not 'yet'. There is plenty of time in my career.

Yikes, that Turkish Cup match is one to forget... Nice job in the league though :)

The league is the importance ;).

A very good run of form which see's us stretch our lead at the top of the table. Four excellent games in a row which saw a flurry of goals before 2 draws. We were fantastic at the start of the month with two fine 4-0 wins. We went to my former club in our next game and put in a professional performance to come away with a very solid 2-0 win. An amazing win in our next game saw us stretch further clear at the top. Two tough games rounded off the month but we still remain unbeaten.

Champions League First Knockout Round 1st Leg

What a brilliant win. A very good performance puts us in the drivers seat with a brilliant 2-1 win in Italy.

League all but over noe really, barring any major hiccups.

Also a cracking result in Italy in the Champions League.

It should be wrapped up...but after 34 games the league goes into the 'Champions Group' in which the top 4 teams have their points halved and play a round robin tournament, playing each other home and away. The team who finishes top of that obviously wins the title.

Sounds even dafter than what I went through in South Korea!

Well we remain top of the table, but we finally suffered our first defeat of the season in the process. Overall, this was a very solid month, but we should have remained unbeaten. We were 2-1 up with 10 minutes to go and I made changes to make us a little more defensive and my tactic failed. We should have continued to go for it. When we went 3-2 with 4 minutes to go, I had no attacking options available and had to settle for defeat. We bounced back in comprehensive style though. What a run of games which saw us score 19 goals in the process to keep us firmly in charge of the title race.

Champions League First Knockout Round 2nd Leg

GalatasaraySKFixtures_Fixtures-2-7.png

An excellent performance and an excellent win see's us breeze past Sampdoria in the end. This glory does come at a cost though as we now face a pretty impossible task in the Quater-Final.

Super Lig

So the final game of the regular season is now over and we have finished top of the table. A brilliant 2-0 win over Besiktas ends the regular season on a high, and now with the points halved, we enter the Championship Group with a 3pt lead over Fenerbache who are our only real challengers.

Champions League Quater-Final

GalatasaraySKFixtures_Fixtures-2-8.png

The obvious happened. Barcelona were just way to strong for us and unsurprisingly, we went out after a brilliant Champions League campaign.

Super Lig CHAMPIONS GROUP

GalatasaraySKFixtures_Fixtures-11.png

TurkishPremierDivisionOverview_Stages-8.png

What a brilliant month. We are on the brink of the Turkish Title with three brilliant performances. We got the Championship Group off to a flying start with a brilliant 2-0 win over our biggest rivals. We went down to 10 men inside the first 25 minutes but battled on brilliantly, and in a very end-to-end game, Erdem Soyatik was the difference in what turned out to be a fantastic run of form for the striker. A very comfortable 3-0 win followed before a battling 1-1 draw against Trabzonspor keep us sat nicely at the top of the table.

Super Lig CHAMPIONS GROUP

GalatasaraySKFixtures_Fixtures-12.png

TurkishPremierDivisionOverview_Stages-9.png

Well despite a late setback against Fenerbache, we have been crowned Super Lig Champions. We done so with a solid 2-0 win over Kayserispor to take the trophy away from Fenerbache who won it last season. The season was rounded off with a brilliant 4-1 win as the fans saw the trophy lifted following the win.

The play-off group was put in to save Lig TV, the channel that shows all Turkish league matches, due to the recent match-fixing scandals, they were scared that less people would want to watch Turkish football so this was put in to try and get more money in as well as help a bit towards the problem of match-fixing as bigger teams would be unlikely to fix matches with other big teams as they are financially better off.

SRL88's Career - Season Review - 2029/30 - Galatasaray SK

Super Lig - Results 1 - Results 2

Champions Group - Champions Group Results (1st - CHAMPIONS)

A brilliant season upon my return to management in Turkey. We were absolutely fantastic all season. We started the season strongly and in the first half of the season we were very solid without being brilliant, but come the turn of the year we were on fire. The amount of goals we scored from January onwards was scary with us scoring 3 goals or more on 10 ocassions. We suffered just one defeat in the regular season, away to Kayserispor.

We entered the Champions Group with a 3pt lead over Fenerbache once the points from the regular season were halved. We got off to the best possible start with a 2-0 win over our biggest rivals. Two solid results followed before a defeat to Fenerbache, but we won our last two games of the Champions Group to claim the Super Lig Title.

Turkish Cup (Knocked out in 4th Round)

Shocking, just shocking.

Champions League (Knocked out in Quater-Final)

A brilliant European campaign from us which saw us reach the Quater-Final. We had to go through the qualifiers and put in some brilliant performances against Rad and Auxerre. We were given a tough group but we were fantastic with the high points being the wins over Bayern Munich and Rangers. We topped our group following a 2-0 win over OH Leuven. In the knockout phase we were brilliant over the two legs against Sampdoria which included a fantastic win in Italy. This set up a Quater-Final draw against Barcelona who were just way to strong for us and they brought an end to our excellent season in Europe.

Transfers - Finances

A lot of transfer activity, but an overhaul of the squad was vastly needed.

The finances took a bit of a hit this season, but they're still ok.

Squad

This is a very good squad actually. They have a few seasons left in them indeed.

My Top 3 Players

Erdem Soyatik - What a debut season this kid had. Signed for just £3.5m, he started the season on the bench but slowly eased his way into the starting 11 and was an every present since. He has a bright future ahead of him.

Kim Sang-Woo - A brilliant season from our captain. He wasnt as good in the second half of the season, mainly because he ended up playing on the wing thanks to Soyatik, but a brilliant goalscoring record speaks for itself.

Miguel Angel Bone - A brilliant midfilder and a brilliant season. He was decent in the first half of the season, but from January onwards he was a beast in the middle of the park.

Well, well, well. I am back on the move again following a very enjoyable year back in Turkey. In all honesty, this was one I couldnt refuse. Atletico Madrid were taken over by a pretty rich person which enabled them to challenge with Barcelona and Real Madrid on a consistant basis, but thats the key word, challenge. I have entered the realm of the giants now with Barcelona and Real Madrid and this gives me a whole new challenge to tossle with these two massive clubs.

Board Expectations:

Liga BBVA: Challenge for the title

Copa Del Rey: Not Important

Champions League: Reach the Quater-Final

My Expectations:

Liga BBVA: Be up there with the big two

Copa Del Rey: A trophy in my first season would be lovely

Champions League: Reach the latter stages

Budgets:

Transfer: £25m

Wage: £1,574,950 (Currently spending £1,319,883)

Balance: £64,647,802

Squad:

Once again Steven Gerrard follows me as assistant and gives these ratings. The squad overall is pretty good, but is ageing and needs revamping.

Key Player(s):

Mexilhao - Looks like a very good creative midfielder and has years on his side.

Gaston De Bortoli - A player I managed when in charge of Argentina so I know his qualities despite being the wrong side of 30.

Diego Cortizo - Another player who is the wrong side of 30, but another player I managed when in charge of Argentina and he was quality then.

Goran Cvetojevic - Me like!!!

Hernan Ojeda - Reunited with yet another player. I managed him with Argentina, but also with Liverpool.

Great first season back in Turkey with Galatasary.

Cheers Tom, but as you see there is a little bit of change.

Good luck in Spain with Atletico Madrid, hopefully you can take Barca and Real down!
Great only season with Galatasaray.
You're starting to move around more than what I did in the early days of my career!
Congrats with the easy league win with Galatasaray :D

Good luck with At.Madrid, hope you can become bigger then Real and Barcelona.

Pity you only stayed with GS for a season, but good luck in La Liga against Real and Barca.

Cheers for the comments lads. Although I enjoyed my year back in Turkey, this is now a major challenge to battle against Real and Barca. The only challenge I really had in my year at Galatasaray was in Europe really, so this is a massive difference. It also ticks off the fact that I want to manage in Spain as well.

Good luck at Atletico, will be a bigger challenge to knock over Barce and Real than managing Galatasaray :D

It definitely will be. La Liga has been a three horse race between them for the title over the last few years, but Atletico seem to have gone off the boil a little lately. They have even finished as runner-up in the Champions League on a couple of ocassions.

Good luck in Spain, looks to be a good challenge competing with Barca and Real.

Cheers fella . Im really looking forward to it actually.

Teaser for everyone

Atletico won the Copa Del Rey last season and were drawn against Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup. I have played the first leg, with us playing at home and went down to 9 men inside the first half. Guess the score!!!
