Cheers Matt No7.

Was thinking of cup games & "lower" opposition. Will also use the condition rule of nothing less than 96%

You can also use them in some league games, those games were your at home to those proping up the table. Using them off the bench when a win is in the bag. 96%... Big ask for players in my teams, i only ever tend to make the rule 90% and will stay on until they hit 70%.

But surely, you have got to keep all players happy?

But surely, you have got to keep all players happy?

When you say "youngsters", do you mean those in your first team squad or those in reserves/youth team etc?

The way I do it my first team squad has 2 players per position, many of these are younger players but with only 22 players in the first team squad it's not generally a problem giving them all a decent amount of games over a season - it will pretty much happen by default with injuries, suspensions etc. The back up player for each position is generally set with "hot prospect" or "back-up" as their squad status so they don't get unhappy about only being backup.

Players outside the first team squad I send out on loan if possible, or if not they just sit in the reserves but will get used in Carling Cup/easy European games, other than that I don't use them.

So the key decision for me is at what stage is a youngster ready to be promoted to the first team squad, because once they're in that squad they'll get games. And the hardest part of that is often deciding when its right to sell an older player on to make room for a youngster coming through, or deciding which of several promising youngsters gets the spot in the first team squad as back-up - because I always force myself to limit my first team squad size to 22.

I tend to have the same sort of system when it comes to squad size. In FM11 it was

3 GK's (two first teamers and one youngster for the future)

4 DC's (3 first choice and one younger player who's played a bit in the first team)

3 DR's

3 DL's (both have two experienced players and one young player for the future)

4 MC's (3 solid first teamers and one promising youngster

3 RW

3 LW (as with the full backs, two first teamers and one top quality youngster)

2 AMC (one first team player and one young back up)

2 ST (same as above)

27 players all in all for a 4-2-3-1 formation with wingers. Play it game in game out.

Also i find keeping players happy througout the season easy, it's towards the end of the season that they begin to complain and it's mainly the ones i've decided will be moved on in the summer.

Some of my main problems with the Leeds squad in the demo are the massive underrating of Nunez, Lonergan and McCormack. Also, what imbecile decided Michael Brown can't play defensive midfield considering that's been his main position most of his career!

Anyway been using a 4-2-3-1 to great effect. Finished my demo run in 3rd place. I have found that O'Brien is a liability regardless of stats (so they got that right). Lonergan does the job in the first season. And all the players I have bought I have done so using monthly instalments as I felt the squad needed a rather large overhaul.

In:

Free

Parnaby (Great signing plays consistently well)

Beattie (Never played so he huffed and is rotting in my reserves)

Jlloyd Samuel (Doesn't play as both Lichaj and White do a great job at LB)

Loan

Lichaj (Great as back up and his long throws are dangerous)

Miyaichi (Great player gets a good few goals and assists and really worth having)

Frimmpong (Was playing well but broke his leg early on)

Cash

Samaras (Quite decent up front scored and assisted a few and good back up to Becchio when he returns)

Clingan (Great as a deep lying playmaker in defensive midfield. Scores too)

Bamba (Really solid centre back. Having to play him in DM after Frimmpongs injury and he's still doing great)

McGugan (Great advanced playmaker getting goals and assists but can have an off game. Great to rotate with Howson when Jonny's been retrained to play AMC)

Mackie (Great player to come as back up. Makes an impact with goals and assists)

Out

Nunez

Parker

Paynter

Bruce

Bromby (loan)

Cancelled Keogh's loan to get back some wages

Other notes:

Youth products Lees, White and Gimpel are all ready for first team action. In my team Gimpel and White are averaging at 6.95 at least (I think White is higher and that's him playing as a left back)

if possible bring Wilfred , cover DR and scout market. For example, you can find one great 100k player in spain (club is Roque something), at tenerife B you'll find Zambrano, also very cheap and real bargin. You can see them at spain qload. Nick Montgomery fo 1.8 at 48months is a MUST HAVE option at the midfield. Frimpong can be loaned. At defence, i allways sell O'brian and RB.

not long to go now, who's going to start playing just after midnight if steam does'nt crash....

Yeah this is my plan also. I wasn't overly into playing it when I was but as soon as the demo ended I began looking forward to the game

I'll no doubt be online at midnight as well, will be too much of a temptation not to.

Just a quick question lads.

How do you transfer tactics & training schedules from one FM to another? (ie From FM11 to FM12)

Have always had to set them up every new FM!!!

You just need to copy the contents of your "tactics" or "schedules" folders (I think they're called) from within the FM11 folder and put them in the corresponding FM12 folders. My only problem is always finding the actual FM11/FM12 folders on windows 7, can't remember exactly where they are on my PC but can post more details later.

Edit - actually thinking about it you dont really need to move the files at all, it's just that when you try to import a tactic or training schedule from within FM12 it will look in the FM12 "tactics" or "schedules" folders by default. But there's no reason why you can't browse from there and choose to import a tactic or schedule from the FM11 folders instead.

Thanks mate.

Will be buying hard copy of FM12 tomorrow from Game as I get double points + 500 points for buying FM12.

Is it here yet? Is it here yet? (continued....)

HINT!

Every year I go to editor and create second club, this year as always, I'll join Sutton Utd with Leeds and my young players will play Blue squ., and rise as the time goes by. I suggest the to all of you, it makes the game 50% more interesting. Your 16-19 can compite against real clubs and gain experience and even reach Championship level.

It is a long time but i figure CoD: MW3 will be out soon, Battlefield 3.... They can get me through to x-mas. If that don't keep me occupied there is always work and internet porn, i reckon i can survive until x-mas.... Unless i'm hit by a bus in which case i'll be pissed! lol

Elland - just to add a bit of info about copying tactics/training schedules across from FM11 to FM12:

for FM11 they should be saved in

C:\Users\<user>\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2011\tactics

C:\Users\<user>\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2011\schedules

For FM12 you should just have to copy them in to

C:\Users\<user>\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2012\tactics

C:\Users\<user>\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2012\schedules

Just getting started as well.

Sold Paynter, Nunez, Bromby and Bruce, brought in a young Romanian rightback by the name of Cornel Rapa for £500k, and Francisco Pavon, 31 year old central defender, on a free.

That's probably it for me to start with, want to get through to January and see how it goes and then see if I can offload more of the current lot to bring more cash in.

Edit - ah sod it, so they want £2m for Yaya Sanogo? Get him signed up!

Just back from Tesco in Bradford, and I'm installing now! £2M for Sanogo, I must have him!

Great January transfer window so far! Sold O'Brien and Vayrynen and brought in McCourt and Dickson Etuhu!

Ah nice one, I just got to January in my game, sitting 4th in the League so looking good. Rapa and Pavon have both been great at the back for me, my 2 best defenders so far.

But I also need to raise funds if I'm to sign anyone else, was going to hang on to O'Brien and Vayrynen as back up but I might just have to offload them as well if I can get decent money for them.

Edit - wasnt able to get any decent money for anyone in January, the only offers I had for players were over 48 months which was no good to me. So going to have to see the season out with my current squad, which should be enough for a play off spot I reckon!

Seems cheap sounds too good to miss.

Just installing now.

Might want to hold on blowing that cash on Sanogo - check out the new PA thread.

Finding it tough on full game to raise any reasonable money for the players I want to sell. Very small offers for Paynter/Parker/Connolly etc and no offers at all for Sam. I can find some really good players but may need to offload some better players to raise the cash...

Nicko - I've found it hard to raise any cash in the first season as well and given I've blown all my cash on Sanago (who has been good to be fair, top scorer, but you'd hope so at that price!) I'm struggling to be able to sign anyone, found quite a few players that would have improved the squad but I've not been able to afford the fees/wages.

So I think I'll play out the first season now, see how much money we get 2nd season and have a bigger clearout then. Currently 3rd in the league with 10 games to go so meeting the board expectations in the 1st season shouldnt be a problem.

Interesting, very interesting; that seems to be what I'm finding on player sales too. I can push up the team quality big time with players like Gioda, Bottinelli, Pillud, Ambrosi (what a back four!) but I'll need to sell some of "the untouchables"...

Well first season finished, and we ended up finishing 5th. Was in touch with automatic promotion with about 3 games to go but didn't quite do enough to get there.

Faced Forest in the playoffs but ended up losing 2-0 at their place and could only manage a 0-0 at Elland Road. So another season in the Championship for me!

Snodgrass was player of the season at AMR with 10 goals and 19 assists, new signings Sanogo, Rapa and Pavon all did well - those 4 players had the highest overall average ratings.

Lees, Howson, Clayton, White, Pugh and Becchio all did enough to convince me to stick with them for the 2nd season, Gimpel is also developing well so should be ready for more regular games next season. Everyone else will be offloaded if possible - so I reckon I need at least 8 new players over the summer.

Ended up buying a young keeper called Kristoffer Nordfeldt for only £10k, still 22 but with the potential to be better than Lonergan. I also signed a couple of 16-17 year olds for £150kish each, highly rated in terms of potential but we'll see!

Well done mate, good effort with the squad. Just about to post initial transfer targets etc,

Link to post

Here are some initial South American transfer targets, all came to Leeds and I can list fees if anyone is interested:

DR Ivan Pillud.

DC Gioda, Bottenelli.

DL Paul Ambrosi.

DMC Cristian Pellerano.

MC Mathias Cardacio.

AMR Augusto Fernandez

AML Roger (£26k).

ST Arthuro (slow but free).

Bench Mariano Izco MR/AMR. Flavio DR (free).

Kept the two GK as you can't move them, but medium term will need to replace. I'm filling out the squad with high potential youngsters on 48 month deals. Team is now good enough to win the league, but it will need to gel; so we'll see.

Edit. Luizao DC free on 1.1.12, Zezinho AML free on 1.1.12 (gets w/p). Netinho AMC/ST on 11.12.11. Daniel Paulisto, DMC on 22.1.12.

Link to post

Some good finds there Nicko, Cardacio is still available on the cheap in my game so might have to give him a go.

Initial transfer budget for season 2 has been set for me at £3.2m (interestingly they tell you the initial figure in May now, so you can start thinking about transfers a lot eariler) - that should be enough to do some serious business, I just need to see how many of the current squad I can offload now!

Nicko / Coen, good to see you back for FM12!

Nicko, just found a guy called Jesus Mendez @ Boca, I'm continuing with my tactics from FM11, so I need DM's and he looks ok, have you come across him before ? Looks like he got a cap for Argentina, so must have been semi decent at some stage.

Want to move on Paynter / Bromby etc, and looking to choose between Parnaby and Degen for DR.

Also want to try and find a Snodgrass version 2 for my left wing position...

Will Mendez get a w/p? Augusto Fernandez is better than Snoddie but he's also an AMR. Couldn't find a top AML which is why I settled for Roger because of his price (£26K). Will Degen come?

Couldn't get Degen, or Mendez so back to the drawing board. Parnaby came for 8k per week, which I think is a decent signing.

Alright Macca, good to see you in FM12 as well.

Yeah Parnaby on a free is good business. My only signings first season were Francisco Pavon (DC) on a free, Yaya Sanogo for £2m and Cornel Rapa (DR) for £500k. All were great for me, but if you have Parnaby you're sorted for DR.

Am now looking at a major shake up of the squad at the start of season 2 and am bringing loads of players in, mostly from Eastern Europe. :D Will post a list when I'm done.

Gabriel Silva DL.

Vitinho ST.

Both on 48 month deals. Have found w/p's much harder to obtain on FM12.

Harry Kane ST and Frimpong, DMC on season long loans to increase HG players in squad.

Cheers, looking forward to this one, with the ME a bit more settled will hopefully be able to get a good career game going early. Nicko, thanks for the advice mate, hadn't thought of Vayrynen at AML.

On the AML front, for some strange reason, Wigan have got Maloney in the reserves at the moment, one I'll be keeping an eye on I think, he would be perfect for my role. I've also found a few DM's that look worthy of further investigation if anyone is looking for one.

Gustav Svensson - Bursaspor - Valued at 650k

Adrian Ropotan - Tom - 550k

Jiri Klarrubsky - Slovan Bratislava - 350k

Vladimir Ghadzev - Levski - 275k

Dzmitry Verkhovstov - Naftan - 190k

Ok an update on my signings for the start of season 2:

Straight in to the starting 11 go:

Marian Kello (GK) - free

Hassan El Mouataz (DL) - free

Felice Piccolo (DC) - £300k

Yordan Miliev (DC) - £300k

Pele (MC) - £1.6m (Portuguese defensive MC signed from Turkish side Eskisehirspor)

Darko Tasevski (MC) - free

Promising youngsters/back up players:

Dejan Trajkovski (DL) - £1m

Frederic Vieillot (ST) - £120k

Adnan Besic (ST) - £350k

Sergio Zijler (AMR) - £45k

Serkan Sahin (DR) - £10k

And out go Becchio, McCormack, O'Brien, Kisnorbo, Parker, Lonergan, Rachubka, Somma, Vayrynen, Connelly, Sam & Brown - total fees from sales £2.4m

I should probably sell one of Clayton and Howson as well, just not quite decided which one yet.

(Also I'm playing with Slovenian/Slovakian leagues loaded!)
