This is indeed happening due to the changes made to the FA Cup with the Editor.

The code that deals with prize money does not get used when using a custom competition file and so this is causing the incorrect TV prize money amounts.

Seems like it.. :(

Is there any way I can correct it myself without starting a new game?

Level 9 is something we'd like to go to but there's only so much time that we have during the day, we have very busy lives at the moment so it's difficult to work on the file but I might have some time next week to see what I can do.

You only need to activate Level 9, most of the clubs have stadiums/colours etc. Some need sorting out with stadium locations too. Apart from that, that's all it needs doing. And some league cups, but that's difficult as some involve Level 10 clubs and one at Level 11.

This is using the Advanced Rules so activation isn't the case; it needs to be built. This also adds time needed to test too, which is very limited.

You've got all the teams though? Won't it just be a case of making the 14 competitions at L9 and then adding the teams that are on the database?

(Apologies for silly questions, I don't know much about the advanced editor)

The main issue is time, it needs to be tested and it needs to be realistic. We're not just going to add them in unless they feel right.

I've managed to get the teams to stay in the right division season after season by using regional divisions and north/south/east/west boundaries set up.

For example, one club always used to move from one league to another because it was on the boundary of where one league ends (southern boundary) and where another starts (northern) but since I've added Level 10 they've stayed in the right league season after season.

If you want to help us with the release join us on fmupdates.com and we can discuss things.

Sure, I'm on there already, same username as here. I don't know a great deal about the advanced editor though, have managed to make that level realistic using the normal editor.

Yeah they only use players under a certain age in real life (25 I think) I'm not sure if FM replicates this (properly not) I only know this because I was Sutton Coldfield's youth side once upon a time who Romulus ground share with.:D

Quick question - is there a way to edit the file using the standard editor?

Absolutely not for release - simply my own anal-ness - I just really hate the "evo-stik premier" and all I want to do is edit it to "northern premier division". But I can't get the file to load in the editor - I suspect created via advanced editor and that's why?

Is there anything I can do?

Thankyou for a cracking file otherwise - love it :)

Actually another question - President's Cup for Northern Prem D1 north & south only begins in 2012 with it not being played in the first season? I assume no way to fix this from my end as this DB was created with advanced editor? I intend to be promoted before I get to play it.

Alternatively is there a way to create a competition that runs for one season only? So i can create another Presidents Cup, called something else, which will not run after first season?

You can change the names of competitions with the editor as is, just load the file and change the name.

The Presidents Cup doesn't run by design as it is on hold for this year. There isn't a way to overwrite this unless you designed the Presidents Cup from scratch using the Advanced Rules and run that with the game.

We are all pressed for time right now so there is little progress being made. We all have busier private lives now than we did over the last two years when this project started.

Have just completed first season (2011/12) with Corinthian Casuals in the Ryman Isthmian Div 1 South as Champions. So do I go into Ryman Isthmian Premier oh no I'm in Evo-Stick Premier League Northern (not even Southern). Still competing in Surrey and London County Cups. Never mind just wonder if FM takes travelling costs into consideration.

The reason I have closed off new registrations is because of spam, so for an indefinite amount of time it is going to stay that way. Doubt it will be any longer than a month though.

That's a bit bizarre but there were issues like this with the earlier versions so this should not happen with the latest version installed. However you would have to start a new game for changes to become implemented.

Am using version 6.12 which I thought was latest. Am going to continue with saved game as it takes me weeks to run through a season. Not going to waste all that work. Northern clubs watch out the Casuals are coming to sort you out.

Fantastic file, thank you all for your time in developing this! I'd love to see Level 10 and 11 added at some stage though, that would be mega.

Having done some research, how about all 24 levels or am I going a bit mad? Coz it would be a major challenge trying to get from bottom to top then.

Iv played a game with Ossett Albion, I did about 5 seasons, and I can recall being able to give my players in the northern evo stik premier after being promoted from division 1, I could sign them up to contracts for 2/3 years. I have started a game with rainworth MW, got them promoted to the evo stik premier division after the 1st season and all my best players have been snapped up by better sides due to being on non contracts. I cannot sign my players up for 3/4 year deals, any one know why? It's annoying as I'm simply not progressing now how I would have liked!

Depending on how well you do/how much money the club makes, you will become semi-professional (then eventually professional) - which means you can offer part time contracts (with wages) rather than just amateur or non-contracts where anyone can just take your players, they will have to make an offer etc.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi everyone!

I am having a problem with my board. I have gotten my club promoted from the Isthmian League to League 1.

When I reached League 2 I turned pro and was told to change all contracts to full-time status.

However now I'm in league 1 and the only person left at the club on a non-contract is me!!!

Every time I ask the board to offer me a new contract they say yes and nothing happens, no new contract is offered and the option then becomes greyed out as though I am currently on a new contract.

Very frustrating and I was wondering if any of you kind people could help me fix this problem please??

Thanks

Hi Magic Mastermind! Thanks for the reply.

I tried asking for a new contract when I was promoted to League 2 and the same thing happened but I didn't think anything of it because I assumed it was down to the fact the club had just turned pro.

However I'm in December in League 1 and still no full-time contract. Kind of sad for a "Club Legend" lol

Hi Folks,

With the Transfer window update, I now can't get the extra leagues to load. I have to deselect all the data changes made by the editor before I can select England as a playable nation. Once I've done this, I can't select any league below Blue Sq N & S. Is anyone else having this issue, and does anyone have any advice as to how I might go about resolving it? Thanks in advance.

Sorry, I've just reread the original post on this; will there be an update for 12.2.0?

I should also say thanks for your excellent work - having the lower leagues really enchances the game for me. Cheers!

FAQ

* Can you explain the English Non-league system?

The BBC Sport website has an excellent guide to how the English non-league system operates - LINK

This file includes levels 1 to 8 activated, which is down to step 4 in the English Non-League pyramid:

Capture3.png

* Why is my team in the Northern Premier League, shouldn't they be in the Isthmian League?

One of the qwerks of the English non league steps is how much change there is every season. This all depends on which teams are selected for promotion from Level 9 that may not easily fit into the regional geography of Levels 7 and 8. For Football Manager this is a problem as whilst rules have been set for each league and the vast majority of teams, unfortunately you can't programme common sense into the data editor. On the rare occasion you may find a team sorted into the wrong division, be rest assured that when the first opportunity arises to place them back into their correct division the game will sort them correctly.

* Why do I need to add All Key Staff?

I recommend you tick 'Add key staff'. That way all the staff you need, i.e. a physio and assistant manager will be generated for the clubs where there is not one set in the database.

* Is this release compatible with my save game?

As with all other editor data files, this release is not save game compatible.

* Are you planning on providing a data update for these teams so they have the correct players and staff etc?

This is not a player data update, no players have been added or their stats amended and I have no intention of adding this information.

* What is the rulebook?

The editor is limited in what match and competition rules can be input. As an example, clubs in Levels 7 and 8 are only permitted to give a player a contract, known as League Forms, for one playing season only.

I've reviewed the Isthmian, Southern and Northern League Handbooks and Rules and I have devised a simple rule book for gamers to follow (if they wish) to help make playing these leagues more realistic. The Rulebook PDF is combined within the file download.

* There's something wrong with your file/I'd like to help you with this release, where do I go?

If you want to help with this project and others please check out FMUpdates.com.

Finally, Please Note:

By downloading this file you agree to not re-release it or host it in its original form, or in any edited form, without first seeking and obtaining express prior permission from FMUpdates.com - this includes redistribution of this file in 'Megapacks'. Please PM me if you wish to discuss link the download to your site.
