This thread is to be used for what the 'Rate My Team' thread was for last year, getting detailed responces on how you could improve your team. If posting please give as much information as possible, including squad, budget, patch and season. This will enable people to give you more detailed replies, including recommendations on players.

GK: Reina is quite good, and is probably the best you could get on 09. Itanje would be an ideal sale, as he isn't too good. Cava is good backup, probably one of the best you could get.

DR: Arbeloa is good, Degen too. Torres is good too, but not as good as the other two.

DL: Marcelo only has tackling of 10, which isn't good enough. Dossena is average, and I reckon this is the area you need to improve in most. Unfortunatly I don't know many good DL's yet, so can't recommend anyone ATM. Cheillini is still good I knowso may be worth splashing out for

DC: Agger, Carra and Skrtel are all good, Hyypia is good backup. Caceras is also good, about the same as Carra IMO.

DMC: VERY good, all 4 are top class.

AMR: Good, Fernandez is very good. I'd leave Elano and get perhaps Giles Barnes, as backup.

AML: Again good, Babel is v. good, Riera I haven't had but aparently he's good backup.

ST: Wow, Rossi, Aguero, Torres are all imense. Keane is average, N'Gog isn't really needed as he won't have to time to develop. I'd try and sell those two.

TBH I don't know enough players to rate properly, but hope that helps:)

Have bids accepted for Aurelio(2.5m), Wijnaldum (1.4m), McCarthy (1.8m) and Arfield (600k) so should I bring in a few of those? Or is there other players I should be looking at?

Also what formation do you think I should use?

Try a 4-1-2-2-1 formation with a Target Man eg Cruz with 2 Supporting strikers in the AMC position probably Arshavin. Then play Radoi or Appiah in the holding midfield role although personally I prefer Radoi CB.

Sign Aurelio and retrain Marcelo AML. Try and loan Wijnaldum. Drop the others.

As cheap-ish young left wingers go, Di Maria is probably the best one there is, i'd stick with him atm.

Also, Fernandez can do a job there as well as covering the other side, and playing in his best position as AMC.

How much money have you got anyway??

i'd look to getting another right back if i were you, if anything just to back up Ilsinho.

i have £3.4million!

not much to be honest.... but for 6 months any serious injury can be covered... obviously in the real game, i would get Srna for RB and have bosingwa and ivanovic as back up! but City stole him from me!

Left wingers, i usually go for fernandez but di maria has potential to be good and i regret selling Joe Cole now!! such a useful backup player!!

Cheers gave that formation a go against Rangers and won 3-0. Looks like I'll be sticking with it for the time being.

Didn't manage to sell anyone else but got Aurelio so I'll play Marcelo further up the park.

Pavleychenko is not good enough for a top 4 team.... get a good striker whilst Balotelli develops!

Looking to strengthen my team with decent wingers and maybe a new van der Sar replacement. I play a 4-2-2-2 formation by the way.

Wingers - Try Ashavin, can play both Left and Right! very useful

Or Matias Fernandez, from Villareal... cheap-ish and very good performances!

Diego Capal is another good left winger... has a release clause so can be relatively cheap!

Keeper - best long term investment is Sergio Asenjo. young and very good!

I was looking at Arshavin and Fernandez but they seem suited to left wing. I was looking for backup to Ronaldo but I guess I can get both and retrain one of them to the right.

How much does Asenjo tend to cost? It seems buying keepers is still a pain as a £5m will not leave the club for less than £18m

Problem (like FM 08) is that no matter what, I can't sell Bent, and I've gone right down to £5 million. Rossi for £9 million will be good, but not sure about a target man. I'm looking at Santa Cruz, but need to see how he pans out.

Fazio is really good! and he is at the perfect age for a CB!

but i have changed my mind on Rossi, this boy just doesnt want to score!! he cant put them away!! i think playing him as a lone striker is not a very good tactic.... I guess you could try Diego Forlan, can get him £14million so bit extravagant!! or for a short term investment, Di Natale from Udinese is always a good purchase?

Your team is really good and you have already made a lot of changes. It is good to see that you already have brought in a lot of young players into the ageing chelsea Squad. You also have a sizeable transfer budget left.

My suggestion would be to buy some players as back-up to the AMC position. you already have Giovinco. My suggestion would be to get one of either Moutinho, Matias Fernandes or Diego. As for the defenders first coice would be Terry and Zapata. Second choice being Radoi and Fazio. Radoi can also play at the DM position.

I play attacking in a 5-2-1-2 with wingbacks. My main concern is around my lack of depth for both Wingbacks, esp on the left as someone else said.Srna will do a job for you there as I was forced to play him there for a while but didn't really contribute a lot. Silvestre and Gallas can play there but that leaves me short in defense. I am not sure how worried I should be about Almunia. Only conceded 11 in the league at the end of the Demo but 3 of those were his mistake!

I have just had Pjanic and Caceres arrive in the Jan transfer window, who along with a few promising youngsters has left me with a transfer budget of 2 million! I have 155K pw left for wages. I am thinking that no more transfer for me for another 6 months!

everytime i see a spurs team, first thing i say is new CB and new ST!

but you have Caceres already who is more than satisfactory.

regarding a new ST, i guess you have Rossi who can play upfront, however i still think a new ST like Balotelli would be good because he can sit on the Right and Left wings as well as at striker!
