Have Just about given up with FM2011

I am not one to tear SI apart but I have given more than a lot of others into the bugs forum this year including the bug I discovered of contracts disappearing which was acknowledged as a bug, it happens frequently in the lower leagues, it was under investigation and I was under the impression it had been fixed, however fancy my shock a few seasons in when virtually every player in my first team is out of contract at the end of the season!!:

However, his existing contract is to 2013!!

How am I meant to play a long term game when you can lose virtually your whole team at any given time!, Creswell for example is under contract until 2015 so he should be nowhere near expiring, im assuming this means that the manager contract bug is still present as well as at the time it was felt these were linked

Unfortunately for me this means I cannot go on any more and have wasted a great deal of time into a game that is not working properly from the start, im very disappointed right now

Are you sure you are not getting confused between a contract offer and an actual agreed contract. Or maybe its more of a cosmetic issue with the that screen not showing the right details?? Personally I've always worked off the contract tab which is 5th from the left.

No defiantly not unfortunately, I reported it after the 1st patch and Si acknowledged it as a bug, theres a few players that seem to go to a club for a fee and then be released within 5 months as well, im not sure whats causing it but its so frustrating as now some of the players wont negotiate meaning you just end up with loads on free transfers, here are some other exaples I found at the time

I am hardly impressed. The ammount of times you have suggested that gamers should use the FMRTE, on a number of issues I might add, is getting a little over the top. Do you really think it is fair that gamers basically have to camp out in the editor and fix issue after issue themselves? You said yourself that the majority of gamers don't even visit these forums, so I am just wondering how many gamers actually know that the editor exists and how many of those actually know how to use the thing...

weird bug, never seen it in my life and this is the 1st time I have heard of it, are you fully patched up to 11.3 ?

Did you start a new saved game after patching up (if you did get the 11.3 patch) ?

Annoying but either you will need to negotiate new contracts or just use FMRTE to fix the contracts.

no no not at all, all i said for was a suggestion to fix an annoying bug, it might not work. I dont think anyone should have to edit anything, but if it doesnt work and the option is there to try then why not give it a go, worst that can happen is it doesnt work and if he is going to give up anyway, it couldnt hurt to give it a go.

yeah am all patched up and its a new game, I think its one of those bugs that happen in the background normally but am just unlucky its affecting my long term Tranmere games, just annoying as I had reported it and it was acknowledged etc so thought it was fixed

thats a shame mate, one thing i wish SI would do on the bugs thread is say whether or not a bug has been fixed, becuase its not always clear on the changelist

This seems to be a fairly fatal flaw - another reason not to buy this version.

pretty poor if it was an acknowleged bug and not fixed. Can understand if one got missed but when they actually say they know its a bug and are looking at it, and then release the final patch without fixing it, it pretty much looks like it was in the 'too hard' basket so we will release it without fixing it, I clas this as a game breaker and should in no way have not been fixed.

As I say im just frustrated as when I reported it Gudge said they were aware of it and looking into it, that was back in November and it still hasn't been able to be fixed, if you look in the bugs forum there are others talking of players just suddenly being out of contract- someone has the same issue with Fred so it is defiantly a problem

yeah as i say i am in no way condoning the bug or saying its ok you can edit things, just merely saying that if he is going to give up he could try FMRTE and see if it works, its not perfect and he shouldnt have to do it at all, but if it works and keeps him enjoying the game then it wouldnt hurt to give it a go.

spot on, theres a few they didnt get round too, but from the ones ive seen they are annoying rather than game breakers, but this is a particularly bad one. should have been dealt with

Do you have a save game you could upload to the FTP so I could take a look please. Also have you used any 3rd party add ons or used the editor or FMRTE?

I'm asking because this seems to be a very rare occurrence and any additional info you can give us would be very helpful.

There was a similar (also rare) bug to this that was fixed for one of the patches where contract lengths were shorter than first signed however this is obviously a separate issue

But the problem is that they then refuse to sign new contracts so you lose your players you have signed

In that case, yes it would be very annoying. Lucky I am not having this sort of problem in my game, hope it gets sorted out for you.

Well, I've had that problem, but that was due to approaching under 18's from countries where they cannot move until they are 18... for example, if you give a 16 year old a contract until 2013 in 2011, and he cannot move until 2013, he will be out of contract shortly after you sign him.

Not saying thats that problem, and its certainly not the same one you are having, but its a possible explanation for others.
