SixPointer
1.FC Kaiserslautern A fallen German giant in the true sense 4 Bundesliga titles 10th in the overall Bundesliga table there last top title coming in 1998 a massive stadium with a fan base to match a one city club and the only club ever to win the Bundesliga the season the got promoted. So were did it all go wrong? As you can see in the table they are now a Liga 3 side the only one from the top ten after financial problems the club found themselves on the slide when finally last season they slipped into the Liga 3. The Aim Simple get this fallen giant back on its feet and repay the loyal fans who I make the Fritz-Walter-Stadion one of the most fierce grounds to visit in all of Germany. Short term we need to balance the books and claim the leagues and stabilise the club. Long term we need to win the Bundesliga and the champions league is the end goal. The How By creating a club DNA similar to what I done with Heerenveen but maybe a slightly different direction ill add more on the DNA later after I get into the game. I want to play football a certain way and it will be our values also with the finance troubles of late we will need to promote within. Who? well that's a mystery for now

SixPointer
The Who The man is none other than German and Bayern Munich legend Philip Lahm the recently retired star has been drafted in to change FC Kaiserslautern's problems. He worked under some great managers and played in some special sides. He is hoping to bring his knowledge and tactical expertise to turn the club around. Tried to give him the sort of spread id imagine he would have in real life. still has some badges to get as he has only just retired. Mehmet Scholl arrives as his number 2 another Bayern legend will bring a lot of attacking flair to the training pitch. Schalke stalwart Andreas Muller looks the ideal Director of football a real coup considering he only left his role in the top flight last year. Not a great coach but a legend and good friend of Lahm's and cult hero from the 98 side when he was a kid. We will be looking at the DNA in the next update but as you can imagine Lahm will be looking for hardworking players like he was himself.

SixPointer
The DNA Lahm is opting for high pressing football which means we will be looking for hardworking fit players. So with this he has highlighted 6 key attributes every player must have at the club. These attributes are Work rate, Teamwork, Stamina, Acceleration ,Bravery and Determination. This will of course take time to build but this is all part of the project. Key Players Kraus is a solid defender not the quickest in the world but hopefully with his high anticipation he will be able to read the game well and his lack of pace wont matter too much. Fechner looks the ideal player we are looking for in the engine room and he still has room to develop. Mads Albaek is the conductor we managed to fight off interest and get him on a long term deal. Spalvis is the man Lahm is looking to for goals a ideal finisher needs work for the pressing forward role but a great striker at this level. Transfer Window With in mind the level we are at these players have came in and they tick all the right boxes. A massive signing will be a rock alongside Kraus and has good pace to counter Kraus being a touch slow. What a bargain some coup. Hadzikic chose us over a few MLS sides a good keeper already at 22 for this level and he is excepted to grow as well another good bargain. Tolcay will be a rotation/cover for Albaek. His acceleration is a worry and will need to be worked on but a solid option. Mak and Kapp are a couple of youngsters we picked up and will be squad players Pal Dardai allowed his son Palko to join us on loan for the season what an addition. Pre Season Pre season friendlies couldn't have went any better we never really played high class opponents but great from nonetheless.

Jimbo_the_red
I think there is an 18/19 kit around, I'll have a look later and I'll keep you posted. SixPointer
14 games played in the 3 Liga and we lead the pack by 7 points we did have a slight dip in form which so us fall to second but we restored our lead after another unbeaten run. Braunschweig had kept with us all the way having beat us to take our perfect start from us. but have drawn a few games. 1860 Munich have bucked up there ideas an started to climb the table another massive club down at this level. Local rivals Karlsruhe are starting to build momentum I expect them to join the race at some stage. Lahm's reign has started well disappointing to lose at home to Braunschweig but they are our biggest threat in the league. Scoring freely as well scored in every game lahm has been at the helm including pre season his high pressing football this early has drawn similarities to Klopp. Also like Klopp in the early stages the defence has been questionable at times. We seen off Bundesliga opponents in the previous round as we put Wolfsburg to bed. Onto the second round and we would have to be at our very best again. We are drawn against Freiburg who aren't to far down the road from us so expecting a big crowd and the Fritz-Walter-Stadion to be rocking. Lahm shows his competitive edge the German legend not backing down at the press conference What a cup tie! Not the result lahm wanted but taking a Bundesliga side to extra time is a mean feet at this stage. The fans came out in there droves as well with a 40,732 attendance shows you how big a club this is. Special mention to Lukas Spalvis who scored 2 goals to get us back in the game before a sending off for pushing the keeper with the goal being chopped off! In the last kick of the game I think the keeper gets caught out and he doesn't need to push him could have seen us snatch penalties. Not a day for the defenders but considering they are top division lahm is very much pleased with his sides fighting spirit. Christian Streich agreed with lahm

SixPointer
The Badisch-Pflazisches Derby Anyone who has read my stuff before will realise how much I am into football rivalry and derby's Kaiserslautern are no exception. Our first taste of this is against nearby Karlsruhe SC in the Badisch-Pflazisches. My main reason for the love of these games is they are all about the fans! yes the most important people in football. Lahm's side go into the derby as favourites but underestimate Karlsruhe at his pearl as everyone knows anything can happen in a derby. Yes like I said the fans! another reason why lahm was drawn to the job is the support for this club lahm is quoted as saying " I remember coming to the Fritz-Walter-Stadion as a Bayern player it one of the most intimidating grounds I had been to the fans were immense" Kaiserslautern's Fritz-Walter-Stadion has long been a feared away venue given the rabid ferocity of Kaiserslautern fans: the most faithful of these supporters are located in the stadium's "Westkurve" The Westkurve What a resounding victory for lahm's men 5-0 at half time! Kraus got on the end of two long throws and neither ruled out like Freiburg patients from the centre half paid off. The Westkurve rocking at halftime! A stellar performance from the boys outclassed our rivals in every department.
SixPointer
A look at things as go into the winter break here with Kaiserslautern in Philipp Lahm's first season in charge. 9 Wins on the spin impressive stuff but what is even more special from lahm's side is they scored 25 goals and only shipped 2. In matter of fact Kaiserslautern have never failed to hit the back of the net in every game in every competition so far this term. That's what I call entertaining attacking football. Top of the pile as the winter break sets in 15 points clear of Braunschweig and 16 clear of 1860 Munich our rivals Karlsruhe make up the top 4 which I expected to be the case start of the season. I didn't expect to run away with it like we have at this point but cant allow complacency to slip in. Key Performers Club captain Florian Dick has been marvellous at right wing back at 34 he is no spring chicken but he has flew down that right so far all season 7 assists 5 man of the matches and 2 goals from the veteran shame he is on the decline as he has been a standout. Midfield maestro Mads Albaek has pulled the strings from the deep lying playmaker role 10 assists 4 man of the matches and 56 key passes and 2,048 successful passes a magician. Think we will struggle to hold onto Mads as he is drawing a lot of interest but we tied him down so we should command a decent fee if he does. Lukas Spalvis has been an assassin in front of goal 11 from 15 starts and 3 sub appearances only issue is he seems to get a lot of knocks and injury's like Albaek he is drawing a lot of interest but again we got him tied down and he will command a decent fee though his sharp eye for goal may be worth more than money in the bank as we look to climb the league. Other notable mentions is the rest of the back 4 Rotpuller, Kraus and Sternberg who alongside Dick have been outstanding at the back considering we approach the game in a very attacking manner and go after teams these four have been solid allowing our attacking side to flourish. Young Philipp is starting to get noticed for his managerial exploits can he reach the same level he did as a player? A new deal for the Former German international after a fine transition into management. Along with the 2 year deal he managed to propose some improvements to the board that sees Junior Coaching Budget increased that raises it to a good level now and improved budget on Youth Recruitment Budget which now reaches above average at the club. SixPointer
Disaster has struck as one half of our rock pairing at the back I ruled out for the rest of the season and possibly considering retirement big blow as he has not only been solid at the back he has 6 goals to his name. Lahm has stated he will support the player no matter what but also said its a chance for someone else to step up and stake a claim. "its a nightmare for Kraus he has been a very big part of our success this year and we are gutted for him. But it is also a chance for perhaps young Kapp to step up"
SixPointer
Tradition Combines! Anyone who has been following German football recently will know that there is a big debate right now that traditional clubs are fading and so called plastic clubs are on the rise. The big argument is traditional clubs are been moved aside by so called plastic clubs. 1FCK and 1860 fans showed unity towards this in the Liga 3 game this season to show fight against these clubs. There is an article below for anyone who is interested in reading it. http://worldsoccertalk.com/2016/10/13/football-fans-fear-rise-of-germanys-plastic-clubs/ Lahm's side travel to Munich on a 12 game winning street but I still envisage a tough game from 1860 specially on there home patch. A tale of two half's all 1860 first half and all 1FCK second both teams attacked fluidly but both lacked composure and it looked like it would finish at a stalemate until January recruit Sigurd Gronli started off and finished a lovely counter attack. Gronli pounces on Albaek's headed clearances before laying the ball on the bursting a gut in to the box to get on the end of the cut back a fantastic break and a it snatches 3 points. Sigurd Gronli's profile I forgot to do a transfer update for him 200k from Tromso a true bargain a lot of potential in the lad a real find.

SixPointer
Record breaking form a fair few 1-0 victories in there but clean sheets galore and we have still scored in every game! 1st against 2nd in Braunschweig both teams come into it unbeaten in over ten games this should be a cracker! And the fans are out in force can Philipp Lahm's side cope with the hostile reception from Eintracht Braunschweig's home support! Very tight affair as expected two penalties decided the fate of the game. Both teams keep there unbeaten records but it halts Kaiserslautern's winning streak. Cottbus got the back lash from losing the winning streak as lahm's side hit them for 5. Fine performance all around special mention to young Lukas Gottwald who has filled in for Kevin Kraus he has stepped up and done a swell job. Kraus called it a day after his 3rd cruciate ligament injury a big blow as he was more than capable of stepping up to the 2 Bundesliga. We will now have to find a long term solution Gottwald has stepped up for now but think he would get caught out at a higher level. After 49 games of consecutively scoring Kaiserslautern's run comes to an end in the 50th after Lukas Spalvis missed a early penalty there goalkeeper just went from strength to strength. Some run I had visons of us going a whole term scoring wasn't to be. still 21 unbeaten as we enter the business end of the season. 20 points clear with 9 games left to this stage we have been sensational 63 goals for and only 14 against only 1 defeat all season as well. Braunschweig,Karlsruhe,1860 and Wurzburg are battling it out behind us for the last promotion places. personally id like to see 1860 and Karlsruhe join us one is a fellow fallen giant the other a rival which gives us another derby to look forward to. SixPointer
Youth Intake A great HOYD for this level. The coaching and recruitment could be better but still expect a decent intake. Paula has tipped Matthias Altermann to make the break through. Lahm also likes the look of Altermann. A reasonable first intake we will watch over them for the next while see who else improves and can win a deal. Am sure @Jimbokav1971 recommends signing all of the intake. Altermann has good physicals already at 14 stamina and acceleration are part of the key DNA along with his determination right guidance we could well have a player on our hands here. SixPointer
A Lukas Spalvis hat-trick seals the title for Kaiserslautern. Lahm's men have been spectacular all season breaking records off all sorts a thoroughly deserve the title. Spalvis peach of a freekick got the title party started. Nice to see the pivotal match is in the Badisch-Pfalzisches hammering of Karlsruhe. Nice to see Mario Basler join in the celebrations. The board are happy and Lahm is delighted! The away fans will be expecting a champion like performance as they party in the away end. Two German legends have there say. Derby demolition a fantastic advert for attacking football. SixPointer
End Of Season Review Philipp Lahm cruised to his first trophy as a manager winning the Liga 3 and in record breaking style. Record points, most wins, fewest defeats, most won in a row and most without losing. Eintracht Braunschweig join us in the 2 Bundesliga it wasn't to be for 1860 Munich as they were beat in the play off by Dynamo Dresden. Club Awards Captain Florian Dick thoroughly deserves player of the year what a season he has had. Julius Biada gets goal of the season with a derby goal (see above) Lukas Rotpuller was a real bargain and Lukas Spalvis is too old if you ask me I would have gave it to Osman Hadzikic who broke the clean sheet record for the club. League Awards Onur Bulut has a sensational season cant argue with it. Lukas Spalvis proved to be a superb focal point for Philipp Lahm's side and took the top goal scorer award. Surprised that Philipp Lahm didn't take this one. Hadzikic (most clean sheets least conceded) ,Rotpuller (most headers won), Sternberg, Zuck, Albaek (most key passes 89) and Spalvis (most goals) all find a place in the team of the year I think Dick and Kraus would have been in it had Bulut not played right back and Kraus hasn't retired. SixPointer
Transfer Business In the off season we managed to tie down all our key players to new deals this did swallow a lot of our budget but the core of the side is good enough for this level. The harsh reality for Philipp Lahm was he would have to bring some money in. The club has finished paying the last of its debt but it has left them short on transfer funds so Lahm will have to be shrewd in the window and may have to use the loan market. Three pre arranged transfers arrive all defenders an area that needed bolstering all three are likely to be squad players first season. Julio Pleguezuelo Arrives on a free transfer from arsenal nothing spectacular but brings depth to the centre half slot. Still reasonably young so may develop a little. He will also add a bit of composure if we need to play from the back. Dennis Lippert Will provide cover for Sternberg again not spectacular but a reliable option specially given our budget. Very strong mentally needs work technically. Niklas Kreuzer Most likely to over take club captain Florian Dick as first choice right back due to Florian turning 35 this year. Very similar to Florian he can deliver a wicked ball in which is key in the way we use that right flank. A lot of outgoings brining in some much needed cash to the club to steady the boat. Tolcay Cigerci, Mak Varesanovic and Christoph Hemlein all commanding great fees though Philipp Lahm hadn't intending moving them on the clubs cash flow forced his hand. Sizeable profits made on Cigerci and Varesanovic as they arrived on free transfers last season both featured very little last year so made sense. Hainault and Bergmann freed up some wages both on around 3k and languishing in the reserves. Due to moving players on for money reasons Philipp Lahm opted to delve into the loan market to bolster the squad keeping the much needed money in the bank. Alexander Isak Will provide stern competition for Lukas Spalvis up top. Still young and very raw but he will be looking to use this spell to catapult him on to bigger things at Dortmund. Tom Krauss Provides Gino Fechner with a challenge in the engine room pitty we couldn't convince RB Leipzig to sell him cause he is class act already at 18. Has all the necessary attributes. Fabrice Hartmann Another one from RB Leipzig a natural inside forward hoping he will dovetail nicely with the flying right wing back. Nowhere near the finished article and I suspect will spend most of the season coming off the bench but a solid option. Palko Dardai Returns again after last season never really hit the heights expected of him. Mentally he is sublime. Technically and physically he is great so expecting big things this year. He has competition in Hartmann. Adrian Fein Gives us cover for the maestro Mads Albaek and what an option he is considering we have him for nothing for a season. Less technical ability than Albaek but still reckon he is capable of doing a job in the role. Tim Handwerker The most expensive of loan deals but gives us a natural left winger to back up Hendrick Zuck something we missed dearly last year. Zuck was our highest assist last year so it was key that his cover could deliver a ball when he got to the byline Handwerker fits this mould. Juan Foyth Technically gifted to slot in along side the no-nonsense Rotpuller. Great capture for nothing all season though I must say Lahm is still looking for a permanent solution to Kraus retiring. Finances After the transfer dealings the club is looking a lot healthier with nearly three million in the bank. We have 25k in wages available and we are debt free we also have a good clause on the Varesanovic deal If he makes the big time. Our projection looks a lot healthier now as well. Lahm was not only tasked with getting the club up the league he was also tasked with stabilising the club and with this window he has gone along way to start this provided he can still finish out side the relegation zone. SixPointer
Season Preview A trip to the German capital is up first. Ironically am due to go to a Union Berlin game next month when me and my wife visit. Extremely surprised to see what the bookmakers think. I realise how big the club are but we have only just bounced back and with teams like Werder Bremen and Cologne who are big sides I think its a tall order. Philipp Lahm has to keep his men grounded as I believe there is at least one season to consolidate before we go challenging but never know. Tactical Options Another option for Philipp Lahm this year is a more counter attacking approach. The idea behind this is Lahm cant see his side being able to attack at all cost like last season so needed a more conversate approach. The poacher role is a little experiment looking to see if he can still stretch the pitch when we are being bombarded. SixPointer
Interview With Eurosport Job offers are rolling in the door for Philipp Lahm. The Kaiserslautern boss has been reported to have knocked back both Hoffenheim and Hamburg. "I have a vison for Kaiserslautern and I feel the board match my vison and part of that vison is to have Kaiserslautern surpass both clubs that have shown and interest in my services" Lahm backed up his interview by going on to sign a new deal at Kaiserslautern. It has been said that board backed Lahm after the speculation with some much needed upgrades at the club along with his new deal. "I signed a new deal after all the speculation to show the fans, players and board that am committed to the club. The fact that the board then backed me just shows that i am at the right club that wants to move forward" Although Hoffenheim failed in there pursuit of Philipp Lahm himself they did manage to steal his Head of Youth Development. Manfred Paula leaves the club after a reasonably successful first intake. "Am sad that Manfred couldn't see the vison we have here and opted to move on but I wish him all the best. Finding a man to fill his shoes will be no easy task me and the board will have to sit down and think long and hard. I have my eye on a few people but it will take some time to decide" Who is the right man for the job? Jonas Thern? ticks a lot of boxes he has a professional personality, mentally he is very strong also not a bad coach and good with youngsters. Only down side is he doesn't really match lahm's Philosophy of play. Andreas Wieland the young upcoming Austrian has very high stats in the key attributes needed but lacks other mental and coaching stats as Thern. He has more knowledge than Thern of the German game. The question is which one is really better? do I go with the young gun with high key attributes or the more all rounded experienced Thern?
