England Vs San Marino

This is a major match for San Marino, with England one of the biggest Nations in the world. This is definately by far the biggest test so far and San Marino need to pick themselves up after the last match with Poland. England are currently ranked 6th in the world and could field players such as Rooney, Gerrard, Terry, Lampard, Cole, Ferdinand and several more top players!

San Marino will be missing 3 players for the game against England, with the following 3 being injured...

Giusseppe Leoni, expected to recover between 3 to 6 days time with a Facial Injury

Luke Corcoran, expected to recover between 3 to 5 weeks time with Strained Knee Ligaments

Ben Goldsmith, expected to recover between 8 days and 3 weeks with Strained Knee Ligaments

Formation: 4-1-2-3

I've gone with a new tactic as I think we need to experiment for the World Cup and see what works best. We also know that on the International level, we can't seem to get a good partnership up front, so using all three could be the answer.

San Marino Team

GK - Moridin

DR - Davatzis

DC - Adam

DC - Leoni

DL - Faci

DM - Finke

MC - DiSalvo

MC - Gentile

STR - Dork

STC - Zangari

STL - Park

First Half...

32nd Minute: England have been dominant, but there has been no action as such, long range shots mostly. Finke has the first major chance for San Marino, with a free kick on the edge of the box... That shot looked destined for the net, but just clips the crossbar!

33rd Minute: Goal! Zangari picks up a through ball from Dork and slots it past Hart... OFFSIDE! The referee has ruled the goal out with the linesman flagging for offside. What a chance that could have been! England were turned inside out!

Half Time...

England have had most of the action so far, but we have forced them to take long shots which have all gone off target! Unfortunaly our two major chances went just over the bar and was flagged offside.

Second Half...

54th Minute: DiSalvo picks up a ball from an England mistake and plays it towards park, it's 3 v 2! Park plays it across field to Dork who has space to run down the right hand side, he moves inside to cross it in, but Terry manages to get a foot in to put it out for a corner! The corner is scrambled out, but Dork smashes it back towards goal... It hits Jagielka and deflects towards goal! Brilliant save from Hart!

58th Minute: Parker tackled Gentile and plays in Lennon, he smashes it at Hart... Great save! but the action isn't over with Rooney charging towards the loose ball, great block by Davatzis!

59th Minute: Some fantastic blocks from the defence, it's an onslaught from England!

61st Minute: Milner puts Rooney clear through! Rooney tries to trick Moridin, goes for the shot... Just wide!

Substitute: Zangari Off - Jake Stothard On

71st Minute: Gentile plays a fantastic ball up the field, Stothard stands tall and heads it on to Dork, he uses his pace to get past Terry, he puts the ball across the box for Park who goes for goal! Terry accidently gets in the way of the shot! He will be very pleased, but it was a pure accident! Jagielka clears the ball.

77th Minute: Dork finds himself in front of goal and smashes it at Hart, Great save! Park goes for the rebound... He's put it wide of an open goal! Brilliant chance and San Marino are threatening here!

79th Minute: Rooney has a great chance 1 on 1, but fails to hit the target! San Marino got lucky there, this is end to end stuff!

Full Time... England 0 - 0 San Marino

Verdict: A great result against England at Wembley! San Marino put on a great show in defence and were unlucky not to score. England had many shots, but were a disgrace in front of goal and never looked like scoring all game. It was very good to watch in the second half after a less than entertaining first half, with end to end football and San Marino can be proud of going to Wembley and putting on a show!

Our next game is against Montenegro, I will post the Group Table in that update. At the moment, we are still in with as good a chance as any to reach the World Cup and a victory over Montenegro would put is right up there with England, especially if Poland lose their next match.

World Cup European Qualifying Stage

World Cup Qualifying Group 8 Table - After a very good game against England, we have left ourselves in with a good chance of taking 2nd spot in the group after this game against Montenegro, if results permit!

San Marino Vs Montenegro

Montenegro are a good team, ranked 17th in the world and will be a very good challenge for San Marino. If we can play like we did against England, I think we may be able to edge this one, but we shouldn't get our hopes up. England are playing Poland, which could be a big advantage for us, with Poland being 2 points ahead of us. Unfortunately, top spot isn't an option as no matter what happens, either Poland or England will probably top the group with Montenegro in with a slight chance (i'm sure we San Marino fans agree).

World Rank: 79th - San Marino have dropped 9 place since their defeat to Poland and draw with England

Team Line-up

Matt Swain

Davatzis

Richard Marino

Giusseppe Leoni

El Toono

Simone Finke

Lukio DiSalvo

Animosama

Scevola Zangari

Plob Dork

Jake Stothard

First Half...

5th Minute: Finke puts a brilliant ball through for Dork! Dork only has to make his run towards goal and finish, but the speed of Basa behind him puts him off, he takes it out wide and goes for goal, but it's a brilliant reaction save from the keeper. The resulting corner is clear out for another corner! Stothard puts the ball into the box again and Dork takes it down with one touch... Zverotic slides in! Penalty!!!

7th Minute: Scevola Zangari steps up to take the penalty... GOALLLLLLLL!!! San Marino 1 - 0 Montenegro! Zangari places it into the bottom right hand corner! The keeper guessed the right way, but the shot was unstoppable!

26th Minute: San Marino are moving forward with pace, Animosama plays it to Dork, who puts it through to an on running Finke, he goes for goal, but it's saved by the keeper, Zangari goes in for the rebound... Great double save! A fantastic break from San Marino, but the keeper seems to be on form.

31st Minute: Davatzis makes a run down the right, plays it back to DiSalvo infield, he makes a fantastic run into the box and passes it across to an unmarked Zangari! His shot hits Dork and deflects towards goal! Brillaint save again! The resulting corner is a waste.

35th Minute: Finke takes the free kick... The ball curls away from goal at the last second! Great strike by Finke.

45th Minute: A great ball from the Montenegro midfielder, Beciraj is too fast for Davatzis, but he managed to get back into position and tackles Beciraj before he can get the shot off!

Half Time...

Things are going well so far, but there is definately a threat from Montenegro and we will do well to keep this at 1 - 0!

Second Half...

45th Minute: Zangari gets the ball forward, passes infield to Dork who puts a fantastic ball in for Stothard, the defender collects, but Stothard tackles and gets a quick shot off... He probably rushed that one and could have controlled before shooting.

47th Minute: Toono plays the ball to Animosama who turns and passes straight to Dork, he has a crack! Good save down to his right for the goalkeeper...

50th Minute: Zangari with wonderfull feet managed to get through the middle of two defenders, plays a fantastic ball across the box to Dork who goes for glory! What a chance wasted! He should have put that one in with the keeper in no man land!

52nd Minute: El Toono plays a brilliant ball over the top and Stothard out-runs the defender and tries a shot... he will kick himself for missing that! It seems to be Montenegro's night as San Marino can't seem to hit the target!

56th Minute: Montenegro pick the ball up at the back with the last defender, but Dork tackles him and collects the ball, hits it, but the defender had got back infront of him, it deflects backwards to Stothard... He shoots, it hits a Montenegro player and hits the crossbar!!! Zangari is at the back post to head it in! Go...... THE DEFENDER HEADS OFF THE LINE! It appears San Marino just can't find the net!

Substitutes...

Plob Dork Off - Daniel Park On

Simone Finke Off - Nick Adam On

Animosama Off - Walter Ashario On

66th Minute: Beciraj runs down the right and has Vukcevic clear in the middle, he plays the ball into the box! HOW DID HE MISS! A horrifying miss from Vukcevic who had the keeper scrambling!

69th Minute: San Marino are on the break again! Zangari puts a great pass through for Park! Park accelerates at speed and is one on one with the keeper! PARRRRRRRKKKKKKKKKKKK!!! He's come on the pitch and turned the game on it's head! He's done what San Marino have failed to do since the penalty, rounding the keeper and slotting it home! San Marino 2 - 0 Montenegro!

74th Minute: Park creates a chance for himself out of nothing with amazing pace! CROSSBAR! Fantastic shot, but hits the crossbar, hes been influential since the minute he stepped on the pitch! Montenegro are being overwhelmed!

79th Minute: Davatzis to Zangari, to DiSalvo, inwards to Park, through for Stothard! Brilliant save from the keeper... Very nice passing play from San Marino and they are unfortunate not to score. Ashario takes the corner... GOALLLLLLLLLL!!! Park slides in to connect with the low corner, connects and scores! Sensational performance from the substitutes! San Marino 3 - 0 Montenegro.

82nd Minute: Vukcevic takes the corner and it's smashed in by Jovetic! Brilliant goal! San Marino 3 - 1 Montenegro...

87th Minute: This is a late serge from Montenegro! Vukcevic with another corner, connected by Dzudovic! CROSSBAR! Montenegro are really attempting a come back here!

90th Minute: GOALLLLLL!!! San Marino have stuck the plug in on Montenegro's chances of a come back! Ashario passed the ball to Stothard on the left, he turns the defender and moves inwards towards goal, tries a low shot, well saved by the keeper, but the ball rebounds back to Stothard and he makes no mistake with his second shot! San Marino 4 - 1 Montenegro!

Verdict: An emphatic victory!!! We absolutely destroyed Montenegro! We were struggling to make an impact in front of goal, untill Daniel Park took to the field! He turned the game on it's head and deserved his man of the match award. Stothard was a threat all game, but struggled to score untill the chance presented itself in the 90th minute, a well deserved goal. Zangari back from injury also made an impact from the spot and his overall play was fantastic to watch. The midfield was rather average, but the overall score definately allows us to forget about that. The defence was brilliant and we didn't deserve to concede, but corners are sometimes like the lottery, the ball could land anywhere.

Great win, but as mentioned above, it does make us regret the missed chances in the Poland game. Nice to see Park produce for San Marino, maybe his change of pace off the bench against a tired side would be best for now until he learns to be more consistent on the international stage though. I think his lack of stamina hurts him big time against other national teams unfortunately

Poland are top of the group after beating England, so we aren't the only team that has failed against them.

Europa League Group Stage - Game Three

Stuttgart Vs Fiorentino

Stuttgart are one of the top teams in Germany and this will be a huge test for Fiorentino and potentially one that could decide whether Fiorentino make it to the next round. Stuttgart are current second in the Bundesliga and have the second best record defensively, whilst also scoring the second most amount of goals. The main threat seems to come from Julian Schieber, but whether he will start for Stuttgart today is another matter.

Europa League Group Stage Table

First Half...

2nd Minute: Lorenzo steps up to take a free-kick on the edge of the box... Good save from Leno! That was heading for the top corner...

4th Minute: Finke plays the ball to Lorenzo, he plays a cheeky back heel towards the box, but Bauer collects... Dork is quick to move in and tackle Bauer, stealing the ball clear in front of goal! GOALLLLLLLLLLL!!! The keeper came out and Dork took his chance with the keeper just stopping to watch it go past him! Stuttgart 0 - 1 Fiorentino!

8th Minute: Finke tackles from behind, but the referee just gives him a warning... He was lucky not to pick up a yellow there.

14th Minute: Gentile passes upfield to Lorenzo who turns and goes for goal... He should have taken an extra touch there to set the ball up...

15th Minute: Lorenzo takes another free-kick from the edge of the box, but it goes clear over the bar!

17th Minute: Gentile heads the corner away, Cacau picks up the ball and passes straight into the box to Bah, hes got a clear shot and he can't miss! Amazing stop from Moridin from the close range shot! The linesman has his flag up so it wouldn't have counted anyway.

27th Minute: Ashario takes the corner, curling the ball to the front post... DORK! GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!! Dork heads in at the front post with nobody around to stop him! Stuttgart 0 - 2 Fiorentino!

32nd Minute: The ball is cleared out of the Stuttgart box to the left hand side, Toono picks it up and goes for what looks like a cross... The keepr scrambles to his left to stop the ball from sneaking in! Toono definately didn't mean that!

40th Minute: GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!! HATRICK HERO!!!!! DORKKKKKKKK!!!!! He's ripping Stuttgart's defence apart! Ashario is the architect here with some brilliant feet in midfield to sneak through the middle of two players and play a wonderfull pass through for Dork who rounds the keeper before slotting home! Stuttgart 0 - 3 Fiorentino!

Half Time...

Stuttgart are struggling here against what appears to be a 2 man team, with Ashario and Dork ripping the field up with amazing performances! Dork just can't seem to miss and Ashario's passing is inch perfect! It doesn't appear that anything needs to be changed at half time, so here comes the second half!

Second Half...

48th Minute: Okazaki has a go from distance as Stuttgart are getting desperate! Horrible miss! The keeper had it covered either way.

59th Minute: Lorenzo to Ashario, straight to Dork... Brilliant strike, but just about wide! The keeper would never have saved that if it was on target!

63rd Minute: Ashario takes the corner... Crossbar!!! Dork was so close to an historic 4 goal haul!

66th Minute: A fantastic ball up field puts Lorenzo on for a run up the right, he smashes the ball across goal! Dork is so close to a connection, but the ball just about evades him! It's cleared by the defence.

72nd Minute: Gentile slots the ball in to Dork's path, he turns and uses his pace to get into the box, has a crack! Brilliant save! This is the Dork Show!

73rd Minute: Finke picks up a silly yellow card from grappling with a Stuttgart midfielder.

74th Minute: Shieber is some how clear through on goal, but Goldsmith comes charging across... Great last ditch challenge!!!

76th Minute: Stuttgart 1 - 3 Fiorentino! What a freak goal! Adam has put it in his own net, but Moridin will have to take full blame! Cacau latches onto a long ball, but Adam uses his pace to catch up and slides in, pushing the ball towards goal, Moridin watches it go past him, he runs back towards goal to collect and totally misses the ball!!!

77th Minute: Fiorentino restart play, Ashario passes to Dork, he passes across to Lorenzo, Lorenzo slots it through for the run of Dork! He's got a 1 on 1 with the keeper! He goes for power! CROSSBAR!!! He goes for the rebound but the defender slides in to deflect the shot back out!

79th Minute: Stuttgart have players free in the box, with Schieber running the ball down the left! Great Block! Goldsmith has probably just saved Fiorentino from a worrying end to the game! Kvist takes the corner straight to Shieber at the front post, Great block from Finke! It's another corner... Kvist smashes it into the centre of the box, Maza heads down and Bah finishes! Stuttgart 2 - 3 Fiorentino! Stuttgart are back in this and it's going to be a tough end to the game!

Substitute - Edoardo Lorenzo Off - Daniele Friguglietti On - Edoardo has hard time today against Stuttgart and will make way for Friguglietti...

83rd Minute: Ashario has a crack on goal, but its well saved and goes out for a corner. Ashario takes the corner and Dork connects... Another good save from the keeper.

Full Time... Stuttgart 2 - 3 Fiorentino!!!

Verdict: A fantastic solo display from Plob Dork saw Fiorentino pick up the 3 points which could possibly see them through to the next round if results go the right way! Fiorentino didn't have it all their way though with a late burst from Stuttgart with a freak own goal and a classic corner goal, but Fiorentino managed to control the ball in extra time to get them over the finishing line! Ashario and Dork will take all credit for this victory!

Champions League Group Stage - Game Three

Shalke Vs Domagnano

Everyone knew this would be a very tough group for Domagnano, but this game against Shalke is a must win. If they don't win or at least draw this one, they will be in last place going into their fourth game, which isn't a very good position to be in! Currently Domagnano haven't scored in the group stages, nor have they conceded! Shalke is probably the easiest game looking at domestic and european form from Shalke, they currently lay 8th in the Bundesliga and are last place in the group with 0 points from their games against Lyon and CSKA... Domagnano will be boosted by the return of Zangari to partner Park up front.

European Champions League Group Stage Table

First Half...

4th Minute: Domagnano are on the counter attack and Park is racing up the right hand side, he cuts infield and spray a pass towards Duffinci! Duffinci goes for glory... Wonderfull save from the keeper! Decent effort from Duffinci.

6th Minute: Stothard forces a corner from a strike on the edge of the box! Good save... The resulting corner is a waste from Stothard.

11th Minute: GOAL! Maybe not! It's been ruled out for a foul on Swain!, Domagnano have got lucky! Jurado took the free kick that landed in front of Huntelaar who made no mistake in applying the finish, but smashed into Swain in the process!

14th Minute: GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!! Stothard put the corner into Marino's path, he took it down on his chest and smashed it low into the net! Brilliant corner! Marino will be happy with that one for definate. Shalke 0 - 1 Domagnano!

22nd Minute: Huntelaar has a go at the other end and the ball swerves everywhere! I'm sure that clipped the crossbar!

23rd Minute: Huntelaar gets through on goal and appears to be odds on favourite! Brilliant save from Swain! He will be happy with that one!

24th Minute: Huntelaar is everywhere! He tries a cheeky lobbed effort, but it goes miserably wide!

27th Minute: Huntelaar tries to do too much in his pursuit for a goal and brings down Marino... YELLOW CARD!

28th Minute: Huntelaar is on the ball again, Faci appears to tackle, but ends up diving to the floor! The referee looks disgusted with Faci's attempt to get Huntelaar sent off and waves play on!

28th Minute: Nyom puts a wonderfall ball into the box and Jurado has Swain worried! Just wide!

36th Minute: Stothard takes the free kick close to the Shalke area... Hits the wall! Out for a corner! It's a bit of a stray corner from his usual aim, but it causes alsorts of trouble and Fuchs has to head it over to clear the danger! Out for another corner... He rushes the corner before Marino can get into position! What a waste!

44th Minute: Giusseppe Leoni has gone to the ground injured! We will have to see the out-come later as he is stretchered off the pitch!

Substitution... Giusseppe Leoni Off - Federico Righi On

Half Time...

Huntelaar has been a big handfull through the game so far, but Stothard's corner and Marino's take down to score the goal seperates the two teams at half time. A change in tactics is probably neccessary here...

Formation Change: 4-1-2-3

Second Half...

47th Minute: Faci plays it upfield to Zangari, he takes it down on his chest, moves it to Duffinci, Duffinci picks out a wondefull pass to the oncoming Park! Fuchs slides in dangerously!!! GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!! Fuch's has scored the own goal with sliding in, but he can count himself lucky he didn't get sent off and give the penalty away! He's already on a yellow card! Shalke 0 - 2 Domagnano!

49th Minute: Jurado takes the corner, lands it on the backpost for Huntelaar... Horrible header from the striker!

52nd Minute: Jurado with his trademark long range free kick, curling it to the back post! HOWEDES!!! WOW a fantastic save from Swain! Faci clears the danger!

55th Minute: Stothard picks up the ball and imediately puts Duffinci through with a wonderfull pass... He goes for goal, but its a good save from the keeper!

64th Minute: Uchida takes the throw in close to the Domagnano area... It's a long one which Righi heads clear, it's a perfect header on to Zangari! Domagnano are on the counter attack! Zangari smashes it up field to Park! He's got Stothard to his left! He runs it towards goal! THE ANGLE LOOKS AGAINST HIM BUT HE GOES FOR GLORY ANYWAY!!! GOALLLLLL GOALLLLLLLL GOALLLLLL GOALLLLLLLLL!!! Absolutely magical counter attack!!! Shalke 0 - 3 Domagnano!!!

68th Minute: Righi takes down Pukki and the ref blows for a foul... what's his decision??? YELLOW CARD! Righi could probably count himself lucky it's only a yellow. Huntelaar takes the free kick, passes straight out wide to Uchida, he smashes one from the byline! Huntelaar! Fantastic save from Swain! He really wants that clean sheet! Corner!

79th Minute: It's a counter attack from Domagnano, Park outpaces the defender and cuts it in field for Zangari! It looks like hes going for an attempt! No, he's passes back over to Park, Park goes for goal! Brilliant save! Animosama wants a penalty for a foul on Zangari, but the referee waves away the protests, it's a corner... It's a waste...

81st Minute: It's another counter attack after a header away from the defence... Park to Zangari... Zangari slots it through for Stothard! FOUL!!! Jan Moravek takes down Stothard from behind! What's the decision, surely a red! YELLOW CARD! It wasn't deemed as a last man challenge, due to Fuchs being to the right, but further towards goal... Stothard takes the free kick, it's on target, but the keeper is equal too it. Stothard will be livid!

84th Minute: Zangari creates space out of nothing and has a crack at goal! Just wide!

88th Minute: Fushs with a free kick... Nice strike but an equally nice save!

Full Time... Shalke 0 - 3 Domagnano!

Verdict: Shalke were probably the better team in the first half, despite going into half time 1-0 down, but the formation change at half time turned things around and Domagnano dominated and ended the game with 3 goals! The defence was rock solid and Domagnano played as a team, with only Marino standing out from everyone as the big performer on the night, but nearly everyone performed very well. Domagnano will be worrying about the injury to Leoni and will be hoping it isn't too serious.

No problem... I'm currently really enjoying my Middlesbrough save as well so I know the feeling. I actually took a day of work so I could get them promoted for the second time after I managed to get relegated for the first time on FM ever. (Never been relegated, never been sacked, and I have played FM since the very beginning. Really proud of that statistic since I only manage smallish teams. Well I guess never been sacked is quite an achievement as well :) I can live with that.

Anywho... Enough bragging. Back to the game

I used to be never sacked until two months ago, damn Cardiff board being overambitious. Still never relegated though :p

TM, pity you decided to stop, I really enjoyed it! But I can see how a fun save can do this to a person, good luck with it :)

:) Well my team was to young I guess. Got promoted to soon.

Not enough experience. My players had potential, but were not developed enough at the time..

Got them back up on the first try though and this time I'm much more prepared. Currently in 7th after 12 games after having beaten City and Chelsea.
