Oh, and I've tidied up some of the update posts a bit. I was a bit rushed yesterday when I did them so some were a little messy.

I don't know why the league tables have an extra border and the bottom chopped off though. I'll try to remember to change them tomorrow night when I'm next on the game.

Yeah, it was quite a World Cup.

Italy were knocked out of the groups by Australia and Ukraine with Algeria the other team going out from that group.

Scotland had a comparatively easy group, being with Brazil, Japan and Mali

I'm not normally one to be bothered about pre season friendly results, but this one was very pleasing and with it being the last one before the league campaign kicked off it fills me with hope and optimism for the season ahead.

wow.jpg

Meanwhile, I have made no fewer than twelve new signings, the most by a Conference team in the Summer transfer window and none better than this very promising prospect, David Brooks. He was the one who came off the bench and scored five in the Aldershot friendly in his first match for the club.

Born in Dartford, he was unattached when discovered by my scout and we are his first club.

I'm buying your scout from you! :D

Brooks looks an excellent player for the level your at. It'll prove difficult to keep hold of him after a season of him banging in the goals though!

Good to see your prudence by paying him £5 a week, bit of pocket money for the lad :D

Standard youth contract. He's agreed a £230 per week deal when he turns 17 though.

Well, if I can't, somebody will have to pay good money. There is the youth compensation if somebody steals him before he is 17 and he's signed a good contract for when he turns 17. It will take a chunk of money to take him off my hands.

Good to see the 8-0 against Aldershot.. It's a very good result.. Looking forward to the rest and seeing Newcastle maybe in the League, but really that youngster looks amazing!!

Well... the next match he went on a lovely mazey run where he beat two players before crossing for an assist... then a few minutes later he got sent off for a vicious tackle on the opposing centre back. It seems he might be a bit of a hot head to go with his undoubted talent.

He's now missed two matches of his three match ban.

He is class. He's scored 13 goals in his first 18 games and he's not 17 until next July.

Meanwhile... FA Cup Second Round against another League Two team...

Get in \o/

And in Round Three we have drawn

Charlton Athletic away. They are 9th in the Championship.

I've spoilered it in case anybody wants a surprise.

Yeah. He's now attracting interest.

From Birmingham, Reading, West Brom and Celtic.

He's already signed a pre contract for when he turns 17 but I have a feeling that he will be off shortly after. The money will be too good.

FA Cup Third Round... before this season Newcastle Town had only ever reached the First Round twice.

[video=youtube;xcQDzlFK6Hg]

Attendance: 12,369

An admirable performance as we pushed Charlton all the way, only losing in the 85th minute.

Meanwhile, bids from Blackburn and Stoke for David Brooks have been rejected.

Bad luck, great performance all the way though. I imagine that's done your finances a bit of good too - hopefully keep the chairman's itchy finger off the "SELL BROOKS OVER NOBBY'S HEAD FOR FAR LESS THAN HE'S WORTH" button a while longer.

He looks absolutely stunning for that level of football. With clubs like that sniffing there must be some potential too. How do you assman and coach(es) rate him?

Hopefully you get good money for him. Let's hope the chairman doesn't **** you over.

The FA Cup run has netted the club in the region of £250,000 in prize and gate money but even with that we're still in debt to the tune of around £80,000.

I will sell Brooks at some point. He's too good for Newcastle Town and it wouldn't be fair to keep him here. However, I will only sell him for a price I am happy with (unless the Chairman interferes). He is happy at the club and he has a deal for the next five seasons. However, he has got himself an agent, fortunately one of the better ones in the game.

My Assistant Manager rates Brooks at 5 stars for both current ability and potential ability. He says he would make a leading star for most Championship sides and that he is playing at close to his full potential. There are currently four Premier League teams (including Manchester United) and a Championship side who are interested in him.

A cracking match and a superb result. Yeovil are well up in the playoff positions.

Answers on a postcard as to what their goalkeeper was doing for Spence's hat-trick goal.

Not bad with Brooks out injured!

2018/9 - Newcastle Town (Conference Premier)

It's where we become the top non league club in Staffordshire

Board: Fight bravely

Media: 24th

Bookies: 33-1

Season tickets: 226 (up 124)

The board approve a 600 seat terrace conversion costing £76,500 to meet league requirements.

I sign a new contract for 2 years on £650 per week and full time.

Our first game at step 5 is away to Rushden. We play well but succumb to a 2-0 defeat.

Our first home game sees us draw a crowd of 952, higher than I expected, and they go home happy as we beat Histon 2-1.

Our start is impressive and we settle down in mid table.

Come halfway and we're enjoying a very good season. We're still mid table, going well in the FA Cup and scoring goals, no more so than David Brooks who has became our star player at just 16 years old. Quite a find! The season is going so well the board approach me and offer an increased wage budget if I think I expect we will do better. I up it a notch to avoid relegation to gain a couple hundred quid in the budget.

We consolidate our position over the next couple of months and I'm delighted with how our debut season has gone among non league's finest.
