  1. Improvement in squad building by AI in combination with better player development and rotation in international squads will be the sole reason for me to consider buying this. If it's not improved I will skip this one.
  2. I would say you are using a bit too many Attacking roles in the first two tactics. Might sound counterintuitive, but I think there is a slight disconnect between defense, midfield and offense. I also wouldn't use two wingers in combination with the AP(s), as that generally leaves just striker with scoring potential. Focusing on the first tactic, change the winger(atk) to winger(sup) and the IF(atk) maybe to IW(atk). If your left back has offensive attributes, you could also change his role to wingback (s) for a bit more support up the field in offense
  3. Well fair enough if it wasn't clear enough. I did mention almost the same in one of my previous posts though.
  4. I believe he is saying CA is 'A' measurement of how good a player is, which is what it literally is. It is a measurement, but not the only measurement :D.
  5. I still don't know why people keep raising the argument that high CA does not necessarily mean a good player, we all agree on that. The point we make is exactly the last one you say in your post, as a metric to analyse whether the database as a whole progresses through the game and the issues that arise from this. The fact that squads keep getting older over the years and national teams not refreshing their selection with new talents is directly related to the poor development of CA under AI management. Us players can min-max our training schedules and provide playtime to these young talents, but AI simply does not do that sufficiently, hence poor development of the newgens. This ruins long term saves for many people, and is completely unrelated to the fact if a 140 CA player can be better than a 150 CA players. All the "buzzwords" XaW blames me for mentioning in my earlier post ARE in one way or the other related to CA, so yes, it is important.
  6. This is not a bug, it's a design issue. This is a feedback thread and there has been plenty of feedback on this subject all over the forum. You are debating it doesn't exist to us and now you tell me to cut it off? Nah man, you should be the one cutting it off with the constant downplaying of mentioned issues, as I see you do that stuff all the time here.
  7. Well this is just simply not true. It's also irrelevant that CA is not supposed to be seen, as it is a crucial variable in the game as both attributes/development, player value and reputation is tied to it. AI clearly prioritizes its choices based on CA in both squad selection, national team selection, etc. It all ultimately goes back to CA and PA. Please stop telling everyone that there is no issue when so many people actually do find an issue in this. Also, since CA is such an unimportant stat to you, please find me one world class player with a CA lower than 150. I will then show you all the world class players who do actually have a high CA.
  8. You are completely missing the point of the issue dude. There is no one claiming a lower CA player can't be better than higher CA player, the point is about the development of the next generation of footballers in the game which is not happening sufficiently. The fact that not everyone "makes it" is not an excuse for barely any one making it when managed under current AI conditions. With the current way the game is working, a new Messi or even Mbappé is not possible unless managed by the player with knowledge of how the game treats player development. In the game even the level of a player like Bukayo Saka, which is of course a great talent but not on the level of a Messi, is completely unreachable for a regen under AI training (180+ CA at age 21 btw). And don't you dare to come with the suggestion that hypothetically a 160 CA player regen (which is still barely possible with a regen under AI management btw) is better than Saka.
  9. This is of course true if you isolate it to one player vs. another in a direct comparison. If you however apply it to a database of 150k players, ultimately it does have an impact as (to take your example) you will no longer compare 150 vs. 170 CA, but 130 vs. 150.
  10. Could someone explain this one to me? https://i.gyazo.com/08ae559b8c53bf5044c3f2ca9ce9bf42.mp4
  11. I would personally probably use him in AM as a Shadow Striker or something like that as he lacks the physicals and mentals for CM roles and lacks the passing for playmaking roles. Depending on his PA he can however still develop on these weaknesses to a point that it will not be a major weakness -> focus on physicals and passing and hope for the best I guess. He has a bit too many weaknesses for my taste honestly.
  12. Cool. Player unhappy I did not offer a contract, but is unwilling to consider a new contract. Probably going to end up being a massive headache ruining team morale.
  13. I always believed it was current ability. BUT I also believe that it includes the white star potential for this. So if you have a player with 3.5 star CA, and a youth player with 2.5 star PA + 1 star white (uncertain) PA, it will say that the youth player could be as good as the 3.5 star CA player.
  14. I managed Famalicao in FM22, and Ivan Jaime was pretty good. Although I never really got him to perform as well as I hoped (fairly inconsistent), I did manage to sell him to some PL club for like €30 million. I reckon he will be fairly similar in FM23.
  15. Time spent in a game like this is not the correct way to measure satisfaction in my opinion. I have spent 110 hours on the beta, of which probably half it of it is it simply idling in the background. The other half is also spent on setting stuff up, dealing with press conferences, broken mechanics and what not which I would not necessarily call entertainment. For me entertainment is always quality over quantity, and in this year's edition the quality is just not there for me.
  16. I wasn't aware they just hired a bunch of readers. There are plenty of issues (ME aside) that have been there for multiple years and that have been adressed in the bug section for multiple years as well.
  17. Not true. The general consensus last year was that the ME was heaps better compared to FM21. There is so much stuff lacking and broken this year, and nothing of it is adressed on release day. Then why bother with a beta? It's actually disrespectful to keep suggesting to spend our time adressing the issues in the bug tracker, just to be completely ignored.
  18. Yes, or squad player, regular starter, etc. You can select 'B Team Player', but they never accept those.
  19. BTW for anyone wanting to refund on steam, but is in doubt whether it's still eligble, mine just got refunded succesfully at 115 hours in game time. As long as it is before official release steam tends to be very lenient.
  20. They are indeed, so why introduce it in a game? You either have an idea to make them fun to do or you do not put it in the game. I would probably never really like them, because it is not why I play FM personally. So I'm probably not the one to ask how to improve it. What I would like personally is an option to turn them off all together instead of having the ass man do them for me, simply because his answers still have an impact on squad morale, which I don't want.
  21. I have issued a refund for now. Will see if it goes through. General reasons for me are the following: Match engine animations are much better in this version, but how it plays out tactically is not. Too many braindead decision making, errors and just not following instructions. Squad planning of AI is still as broken as before, which ruins long term games. Too many issues with B team players complaining for new contracts, and then asking salary on par with the first team while stating that they deserve it -> cannot extend contracts of B team players unless you want to waste your wage budget on it Introduced features not working as intended. Scouting is completely broken for me, squad planner not adding anything to the game, etc. Same issues as in previous versions have not been fixed, AGAIN, as is tradition. I just cannot accept it any longer. Items that have been fixed are also broken again, which basically means that they just do not look at their previous fixes. Yes, in march some stuff will be fixed and improved, but then in FM24 they will just be broken again. Interviews, morale management, player conversations, etc. are a pain in the ass still and have not been improved. I just skip through them until they become a real issue, and then there is no meaningful way to fix the issue. Any choice you make is basically a coin flip where they either move on or go completely balistic. Players are as moronic and stubborn as ever. I'll keep an eye on the development, but am not optimistic that it will improve in such a way that it is a true improvement over FM22.
