  1. As it's not officially out yet, steam usually always refunds it as long as it's before the official release date.
  2. Currently no PI for the AF as it was mostly a case of the ball never reaching the AF and not so much what he would do with it. I managed to fix it for now with the following setup: These were Milanovic's last 3 games: Much more support for the striker with players playing much closer to him:
  3. I've noticed a lot of combinations between the mezzala and the IW where the IW or mezzala goes on to shoot from outside the box quite a bit, with little attempt to ever reach the striker. I've noticed better flowing attacks using more adventureous wing backs, but then i tend to get countered so much with long balls over the top and through balls over the wings that I eventually ended up doing this to create some stability in defense. @chewbaccaloveaddiction I already had those PI's for the CM's, but not yet for the IW, i'll try adding that. Both the MEZ and IW however do have the killer balls PI, but I rarely actually see them try it. I've made the following adjustments: Switched IW(a) to IW(s) More risks and less shots for the IW put left back on support instead of defense Will see how it goes. I want to avoid using a more supportive striker role, cause I need someone to score the goals and I would very much like my striker to be that.
  4. I would like to receive some suggestions in getting my striker to be involved more in the game. I'm overall not doing all that bad, but the striker hardly gets the ball, nevermind a shot on goal. My current tactic is as follows: I've tried to include more supporting wing backs, but i become vulnerable defensively when i do that. I expected more chance creation from the MEZ, IW and W in combination with the work ball into box instruction. My current striker is: He averages about 10 - 30 passes in a game, with only a few shots in most games as well. This was my last game, which triggered me to open this thread, I won 3-0, but no involvement of striker whatsoever: Any suggestions?
  5. Best young cheap player my scout found so far. This is halfway in second season.
  6. Think beating Real Madrid away is enough to keep the supporters happy? Lol nope. Guess I need to roll them to truly make them happy. The snobs are just pleased.
  7. I'm currently managing Alméria in Spain, and have created several Recruitment Focus assignments for my scouts. So far I'm only receiving scout reports from African players even though I have never selected this as a requirement. Find below 2 examples: 1. Eastern / South Europe search 2. Northern / Central /Western Europe Search I've uploaded the save game under the name "Dilla Donuts - Almería - Pt.2 - Cont."
  8. Here are some of my scout's best finds in South America so far:
  9. Agreed. To add to this, I'm playing as newly promoted Alméria and just faced Real Madrid at home who are second in the league and obviously the favourite the win the league (prediction pre-season also placed them first). Apparently drawing 1-1 at home against Real Madrid without giving much away in chances and actually dominating in possession is a dissappointing result
  10. In FM22 it helped for me to put the lone AMC on either AMCL or AMCR opposed to AMC central with a roam player instruction. So far it seems to work well again in FM23 for me, but have not tested it enough to fully confirm.
  11. Not in all situations no. It really depends on the club, league and type of game. A premier league team like Man Utd IRL, being in the situation where they are, are inclined to play their best team in every single game because they are not in shape to rotate freely (poor squad depth in some positions, poor results in previous seasons, lots of media pressure). A team who is dominating in their league however can in some cases rotate freely and leave some of their best players on the bench for a game to provide rest, give other players a chance, etc. This is also the case for certain cup games, European games. In FM however, even in those games, the AI usually just picks the best player available - every single time. Also, some managers IRL are more inclined to rotate than other managers -> pep for example rotates much more frequently than mourinho.
  12. Has anyone found an answer how to deal with the long balls over the defenders in FM23? I've been losing games where I'm very much in control just to be beaten by a single pirlo pass over the top leaving their striker in a 1on1 situation with my keeper, which in most cases ends up being a goal. I'm currently playing a midblock setup with a BPD(d) on the left side, CD(d) on the right side, and a DLP(s) and Segundo Volante (a) right in front of them.
  13. I would say it isn't normal behavior. A real life manager would not always choose it's best player in all circumstances. Of course one does it more than the other, but this could also be coded as a preference in line with preferred tactic and playstyle.
  14. Old players that are still able to perform on the highest level all have one thing in common -> they completely live for their sport and take care of their body, and are also not prone to injuries during their carreer. Therefore I would link it to their mental/physical attributes to provide a more dynamic approach to this. You will then have some players falling off fast at 30+ and also the very determined professional ones being able to perform until their late 30's or even 40's like Zlatan. Perhaps this is already somewhat the case in the game, but clearly not enough as all the current good players all stay on top until they are 35+ and are all preferred over the younger talents.
  15. I responded in a different thread which seems related to this. CA development is directly related with first team playtime. AI managers and AI squad building is highly favoured towards older players who have a high CA and that does not drop off as much as it used to do in older FM versions. Therefore young talent do not get enough exposure to playtime which significantly hampers their development and also reputation. Young talents are often signed and then simply not being used -> therefore no CA development. This is also the reason why national teams are full with old players that are just not replaced by young talent as often happens in real life. In my opinion old players should fall-off quicker whenever certain mental/physical attributes are not up to scratch (think: determination, work rate, natural fitness, etc.). Also AI teams should use young talents more in easier/cup games or as a substitute for the sake of development, this is simply not happening enough.
  16. The issue to me lies a lot in the fact that AI managers always chooses the best squad in terms of current ability, opposed to the the more real life approach of easing promising talent into the squad by giving them playtime as a substitute or as a starter in the easier games for the purpose of developing talent for the long term benefit of the club. Due to this, AI talents develop badly and reputation does not increase due to not playing, and reputation and CA of older players remain high due to always playing games.
  17. I believe it's more of a hardware problem on my end. When i turn off my monitor, the game often crashes with a directx crash error. I always have the issue that I often get a black screen when I turn on the monitor again. Not quite sure what causes it, but it's not really related to FM, as it also happens with different applications.
  18. I tried to progress the holidaying this night, but the game crashed while only being in september 2022. So no progress from my end unfortunately.
  19. I'll try to do it. Got a decent enough PC at least. Will check how fast it goes first.
  20. Nope, not with these issues in the game. If fixed I'll start my main save after release, otherwise I'll refund and continue fm22.
  21. Open up any previous FM installment and you will find bugs/broken features that are still present in FM23. FM22 finally fixed some glaring issues in the match engine, like the lack of central play, but that also took them multiple installments before it got adressed.
  22. AI loves to play pirlo-ball. I was glad we were somewhat past that in fm22, but I guess it's back.
